Im trying to do the 21 inc tutorial and Im not a developer but I would like to do it anyway. Im in the Oracle Virtualbox and 21 inc is saying following:

In our tutorials, we make extensive use of the Bitcoin Core full node, so we need to install it. Type the following command to download the Bitcoin Core software for Linux:

TYPE:

wget https://bitcoin.org/bin/bitcoin-core-0.11.0/bitcoin-0.11.0-linux64.tar.gz

But then it is saying...Not Found

171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Q&A on: October 07, 2015, 05:38:54 PM
That means Ripple is no decentral system?
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Q&A on: October 07, 2015, 01:28:23 PM
I think they use a federation of servers to achieve consensus.

That means there are no public miners just private servers
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ripple Q&A on: October 07, 2015, 12:39:55 PM
Hi all,

I have some questions regarding Ripple:

  • Would you define Ripple as a private Blockchain?
  • How is Ripple securing there network? Do they have miner which are offering hashpower or any kind of power to secure the network?

Thank you very much in advance Smiley

176  Other / Off-topic / Re: Worst mistake you did with Bitcoin? on: September 07, 2015, 12:32:58 PM
Worst mistake you did with Bitcoin?
sending to the wrong btc address
what happened is i'll be sending BTC's to 4 different addresses and I just copied and paste the address to my wallet then send
after a day I received an email saying that they she did not received the BTC
when I checked the transaction id's I sent BTCs to an  address twice and left 1 with no BTC sent
good thing the one who got paid twice is honest and returned my BTC

How did you manage to contact the people so they were able to send you back the bitcoins?
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block with 9 MB currently?!? on: September 04, 2015, 11:15:55 AM
There is still 9MB in the mempool...is that really normal? Then you wait very long time for a confirmation if you have attached very very small fees to the transactions
178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block with 9 MB currently?!? on: September 03, 2015, 10:04:10 AM
Block with 9 MB? Very interesting.  It may be Stress Testing.

Well, there is no block with 9 MB. There are only more than 6k unconfirmed transactions in the mempool. But most people say it is pretty normal
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block with 9 MB currently?!? on: September 03, 2015, 09:29:31 AM
It depends on the miner.
They often mine 0 transaction blocks, because it is faster in certain situation.
They often reject some transactions(everybody with a full node can configure, what transactions get in their mempools)

Do they find blocks faster because they were lucky and found the right nonce very fast?
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block with 9 MB currently?!? on: September 03, 2015, 09:19:15 AM
But why do we sometimes have blocks with 1 or very few transactions in them even when there are a large number of transactions in the mempool?

Edit: Take the last block, only 111 transactions and size of block only 87kB yet 6,557 unconfirmed transactions in mempool

Yeah, this is what I dont understand too
