161  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner Batch 4, Price changes daily, now 2529 USD for 1TH/s on: May 11, 2014, 12:06:10 PM
Since these are basically the same chips as the s1 why is it so hard to overclock these to 1.2th/s? That is only 20gh/s per board.

I would think down the road we should see better results pumping these up.

first off  you blow up the  stock psu.
so you need to pull the psu and put in one like this:

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1300G2-ATX12V-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399719720&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+1300

195 usd

or thishttp://www.amazon.com/SeaSonic-ATX12V-Platinum-PLATINUM-1200-SS-1200XP3/dp/B00JG5LSN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399719766&sr=8-1&keywords=seasonic+1200

290 usd

or this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182063

adds to the roi.

next if you one from above  and oc the gear you will overheat it. So you need to improve cooling.  pull the fans put in ones with more air movement = louder and ac the room.

so squeezing out that extra hash will cost more then it is worth.

I hope this is an isolated incident with the stock power supply. I think Enermax makes the most reliable power supplies around, I have them in everything and wouldn't buy anything else even though they cost more than similarly spec'ed units.  Never had a failure and never lose sleep worrying about my power supplies. #13 Scoobydoods has what I consider a 'proper' shibe yet the coin seems artificially aged which for me doesn't add anything.
Still, my vote is for #13.

I tried to read this thread ..'I just gave a homeless man 20 btc'. I wasn't allowed in.
Why would a topic be off limits to me?  I know it's not missing because it's on today's hottest thread list. Huh

got my third and fourth machines today one works fine the other seems to have a dead ethernet card. any info on trouble shooting it, thanks

yeah fairly desperate .

Dead or Malfunctioning?

I just received my second two and they set up ok but next morning one had 8 X's (reboots got it to 1) and  then login issues with the ant and putty.

I followed these steps precisely again and again and never in the same order:
Turn the power supply off and on
Fiddle with the jumper on the 24 pin plug
Hot reinsert the power connectors and jiggle to ensure good contact
Reinsert the ethernet cable and jiggle.
Push the reset button for 4 seconds while everything is on.
Push the reset button for 20 seconds while everything is off.
Shut down and swap power connectors
Push and Jiggle data connectors
Learn a new kind of patience. I gave up and walked away, minutes later the thing sprang to life.
Its now clocked at 400 and no X's or overheat.
Go figure Cheesy
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So ... who spent money on Gox trying to buy $100 coins? on: March 01, 2014, 02:51:34 PM
Knew the risk gambled , probably lost ^^ but again i knew the risk and i accepted them

I had enough cash to pick up 2 at 111. Felt really good about it that night, dollar cost averaging and all.
Site went down next day Cry

Will buy 25 goxcoin for $2500.00 USD equivalent in real coin.  Now is good for me, or lets see if gox trends lower to where it makes sense for you.  They're worth $100.00 a piece to me right now. If gox loses more altitude, so must my valuation.  You'll be able to sleep, I'll be able to gamble. It's win/win.

This isn't the best or even a good deal here at the moment, but I want it and will wait for it. PM me when you're ready!
168  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 20, 2014, 10:39:29 PM
I was kicking myself for having no cash at Gox but looked and found $233.00. Bought 2 @ $111. 00.
I don't subscribe to the sky is falling thing. This little buy averages down the cost of my holdings and more importantly adds two coins to it. Anyone with cash on Gox want to front it to me (not sure if that's even possible)? If you can figure out the details, I'll get $2000.00 or so to you from the US any way you can conceive.  Probably too much trust involved here, but I'd sure love to mop up 20 more 'hundred dollar' coins. Wink

169  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: putting PSUs in right order on: February 16, 2014, 09:54:08 PM
Most of those companies never design their own PSUs, they just rebadge other companies designs and then skimp on components to drop the price.

I'm not sure how LEPA is ranked Enermax who LEPA is subset of.  Enermax has been making nice stuff for years.

Coolermaster does have some nice PSUs once you go above 800W.  The GX750 and below are meh, but their Gold 1200W is very nice.

When i started building, I researched best I could every PS being offered and tried not to consider popularity in my decision. I may have in fact given the unrepresented the higher ratings.
I bought two Enermax NEXN 750's and they have served me well for years.
Then I bought a Corsair something or other, because I liked the fully modular design. It was DOA.
Went back to Enermax with another 750 and a 1350 or so and again they serve me without fault.
Recently bought two Enermax XT 730 watt 80 plus gold certified to power my two new antminer s1's.
I don't have any regrets and I sleep well at night.  Having good power supplies with some excess capacity is
a smart investment. I'm sure there are other brands that fit that bill, but I'm happy with my choices and will continue with the same.  Smiley
170  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: February 16, 2014, 12:38:25 PM
Now that we have the new version of CGminer 3.12 in the latest firmware can we proxy our S1's?

I've tried it with the same results as the old version of the firmware and CGminer 3.8 and still only get 100% errors.

I'm not a CGminer expert, so I'm not sure if changes need to be made to the CGminer config to get proxy to work.  I'd really like to be able to proxy through BFGminer and my  other mining hardware to setup to my pools.

How do I even get into CGminer?  It's installed but I'm clueless as to how to make it appear.

Order 489 for two arrived today to ne usa without notice.  The very day I anticipated... Oh how sweet!
Got one up and running behind a router but both ants have the same ip and I'm stumped at the moment as to what to do with the second one. Changing the ip seems obvious enough but I think I'm missing something even more obvious Undecided
172  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What better hardware is actually shipping next? (=not as pre-order) on: February 10, 2014, 11:07:49 PM

Does anyone else have a feeling that Bitmain is actually clearing stocks at a low price on purpose to get rid of S1's before announcing new units with a better chip design?

Yeah feels like they are cleaning out a farm, did you see the rows and rows of them on shelves in the photos?

Source: http://cryptoware.co.uk

If there is an S2 I don't expect them to be selling it, right away, but using it!  Wink

Considering how clean the S1 I got today was, and how "open" the environment is at that farm, it almost seems like it is straight off the assembly line and hasn't been mining at all. Not a speck of dust on it... (?) If I leave anything out in the open in my semi-clean office for two weeks it will get dusty - way more dusty than the 100% clean Ant I just got.

Could it be that Bitmain actually doesn't pre-mine(much)? ... or maybe they just clean them before packing.

I asked Sushi, (a Bitmain disrirubutor) if my incoming miners would be new or pulled from the farms.
He said they'd be brand new. Only tested for a day or so on the QC line. My whole question to him was largely about about shipping and hosting and the associated costs. My take is that it's not cost effective for them to pull used ones from the farm, tidy them up, and ship them. I expect that mine (to be shipped 2/11/14 I'm told) will be brand new.  On the other hand, the ones on the farm wouldn't be there if they weren't working properly, so maybe that wouldn't be so bad to get one Cheesy
173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Doesnt Satoshi Continue Replying on the Forum? on: February 09, 2014, 11:19:08 PM
Why did Satoshi disappear completely? He could have stayed on the forums and could reply to our questions on bitcoin.

He should just return. Please. Thank you.

Prolly cause he was never here Cheesy

Does this look right? No connections yet but I'll keep the wallet open.

Also, If there's a HBN noob forum, kindly point me there. I don't want to become an irritation but I do want to figure things out and become a hobonickel miner.

Hi. Just discovering HBN. I intend to buy a handful and plant them in my new V 1.3 wallet.
After two hours though I don't have a single active connection. Is there something I can do about this?
177  Economy / Speculation / Re: should i buy now 2/7/14 or wait a few days please help on: February 09, 2014, 12:28:50 AM
I don't know about coinbase but watch and wait. The price will approach 500 gox USD. Set an alarm, don't go to sleep, don't act on averages less than 1 hour old. Jump when you can't take it anymore. Personally, I don't think we'll go lower than ~500 before the the anticipated gox announcement.
I'd rather be in 500 dollar btc than in cash when the news hits Wink

I'm pointing my miners at the three best pinged pools. Of course I could point them all to the best.
If it's so that each server tends to mine different coins in different proportions, do you think I'm helping or hurting myself by diversifying. I've been quite happy with results of the main server, just wondering if I can maximize somehow by playing around.
