Lol, completely overthought this one. Thanks guys.
I can't help but wonder about the very beginning though. Just when Mt.Gox started, there must have been much more demand than supply no? How did they cope with that? Did they buy coins themselves?
If there's more demand than supply, the price goes up until they match. ...Making it extremely unprofitable to start a new exchange, since it will be completely outcompeted in terms of price?

- Tried searching for this in the forum but couldn't really find a good overview. I want to know what Mt.Gox does with your money after you place an order, i.e. how do they order Bitcoins? From where? On what kind of code is the system based? Etc. Links are welcome. Thanks! J.

never got any response
Maybe because the concept is a little unoriginal - the Million Dollar Homepage and its success belong to another internet era.

Poll conclusion: we should all be put in prison.
I've heard that the average American breaks three laws a day. That, sadly, might say more about America than Americans.

Naar mijn ervaring zijn Nederlanders erg vooruitstrevend als het aankomt op innovatie en internet. Hoeveel zouden er op dit moment van Bitcoin gebruik maken? Dit forum lijkt in ieder geval redelijk stil!

Erik,
I know you're new here, but if you want your plea to work you will need to provide at least a little proof of your friend's existence and condition. I'd be happy to donate if I can see a face in some believable context.
Best,
J.

How about creating a forum for accusations, investigations and Bitcoin problems in general and let people blow off steam in there?
Keep the main forum problem free and let people take their problems in a forum that is only for registered Bitcointalk.org users? It seems our little tiny community is suffering more and more from "family" problems than as much outsider problems. Nobody as you said can really relate to Bitcoin if they havent gotten the slightest clue about it to begin with, thus removing these VERY LONG and tiresome debates to another forum is a great way to let the public approach to Bitcoin with a positive view, in its first instance.
EDIT: I myself have given up looking at the negative threads. The problems seem to be convoluted and reminds me of a board for teens accusing each other of being bad. Keep the main forum clean, professional and positive.
Yeah, and what will people think when they find out we have a separate forum dedicated solely to scams and the like? Sounds like a bad piece of PR to me...

What's a mem, and what's the average salary paid to a professional troll?
A troll is paid in his victim's tears. I'm still trying to figure out what the answer to your first question is. In any case this is a very suspect individual. We should add him to the list. Oh wait

I said, depending on the result. So if OP properly delivers he has nothing to worry about.

And there's this other guy, who I won't link to, that registered on the same day as Matty Boy and who has yet to add to the chorus of his decline. Date Registered: June 16, 2011, 09:19:25 AM Date Registered: June 16, 2011, 10:38:53 AM It's that second guy that I have a hell of lot of info on and I have yet to publish anything relevant. Please don't PM me or try to bribe me as to whom that second guy is, but when it's finally revealed, you'll be shocked to all get-out. The Mt. Gox hack on the 15th resulted in a lot of new registrations that wee (probably lurkers who finally decided to create accounts to post), not just you and Matthew. this seems a rather suspect quote, better add reeses just to be safe. +reeses Yeah who's this mem guy? My money's on professional troll.

dank, if you're going to let every thread get derailed by Rarity you're going to have a hard time getting investors for any of your projects. If you can't stay focused in a thread about something which is of considerable importance to you, no-one's going to trust you to stay focused for the 60 hours+, week in/week out commitment which actually opening and operating your proposed venture will demand.

You will have to add me too. I'm one of Matthews’s sock puppet accounts. I prefer to call it alter ego though.
Thanks for volunteering, it makes it much easier funnier for everyone FTFY

How much for a short story involving a bitcoin pirate in his quest to reclaim his lost booty? If nothing else, it may help provide some closure for some of the recent open-ended drama.
Preferably with some cyberpunk elements thrown in...
In fact, make it a universe with mashed up elements from Snow Crash, Accelerando, & The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect with bitcoin being a central thread tying the different storylines together. Definitely want some deep character development on our pirate, along with a satisfying end to his problematic situation.
For a 1200+ word short story, I'll do it for about .79 BTC. Sound fair? You can pay me when I am done and if you like it. : ) I'll get to work once I get the okay. The story will take no more than a week. LOL @ the OP just wanting money and clearly being ignorant about the books mentioned. I haven't read them myself but depending on the results I would be willing to write my own version and actually taking into account the details of the request.
