161  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to participate in an ICO for a US citizen? on: February 14, 2018, 11:06:58 PM
I think you should just stay away from them if the case is that they do not allow American citizens to participate. These guys will for sure try and forfeit your investment in the event they discover you are prohibited from investing. So just save yourself the trouble and just get into crypto some other way. Trading seems still viable for US citizens even if the KYC is strict, at least you are sure not to get screwed.
162  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Going through HUGE buy wall (7800USD), then bouncing back AFTER the wall is gone on: February 05, 2018, 11:42:55 AM
The buy wall disappeared because those people that had huge amounts of money just realized that this is all going down south fast! I do think that it would rebound, though initially I though we'll never ever see this price level ever again. But here we are again. Though I think it will stop just little above $7,000 since this was the jump off point before BTC flew to the moon last december. So we'll just continue the ride from there.

Though the thing is I do think this was a result of those big banks, corporations and hedge funds the pumped the price last year and now they just started dumping and the market couldn't support the huge dump,
163  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-05] Bitcoin dips below $8,000. India is the latest buzzkill on: February 05, 2018, 09:49:39 AM
Everything is just a FUD! These FUD stories and news have been greatly flooding the internet and every news outlet. Don't you guys think there is something fish about it? When the price of bitcoins are constantly going up, no bad news comes out but when it is going down there is no good news but only bad news all the way. It's all black propaganda from the people are pushing for bitcoins to go down and so they can buy at really low prices then pump it back up again. This is like what happened last year when there were a lot of news about China banning crypto. There is nothing new here.
164  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-05] NFL Players are interested in Tackling Bitcoin on: February 05, 2018, 09:46:34 AM
To be honest these people are just either being paid by some ICO, Altcoin, or whatever entity to advertise something for them. It's really just a marketing strategy. Remember the Credit Card endorsed by Floyd Mayweather a few months back? That one got in trouble and immediately Floyd dropped them as well. They're just all making money from whoever wants to get them as endorsers.
165  Economy / Speculation / Re: 5 reasons why virtual currencies falling down.. on: February 04, 2018, 08:59:39 AM
I don't think the facebook ads problem will contribute to the down fall, to be honest the only crypto currencies that are advertising there are just altcoins and mostly ICOs. A lot of which don't really generate anything and just a scam attempts or just shitty projects.

I do believe the reason the prices all went down was because the prices has gone up, way up, back in december that resulted in the market unable to support such a high level of price. So when people started selling no one really wants to buy at the high prices.
166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: List of Sports Betting Thread Prediction on: January 26, 2018, 10:40:58 AM
-snip-

I'd like to see this getting added too, not sure but maybe some kind of bot would help you out in keeping it up to date.

Also, didn't you have a prediction thread or am I mixing you up with someone else?

Great initiative nonetheless, will spend some merit on this one! Smiley

Actually, my initial plan is to migrate all tipster thread here. I mean who has own tipster thread might post their prediction here instead of on their separate thread so that we can easily compare their status on a single thread. But I think it was hard to do so I guess I will be manually adding their stats here. I'm planning to start from zero so that the ranking will be fair for them. I will still ask first for their cooperation. Maybe I will contact them on weekends when I'm free and complete all info on this thread.

Very useful thread indeed. If this thread will be fully utilized by OP. Then we will have no problem with searching different prediction thread and we can easily be compared the skills of each one by doing a ranking on their stats. Is this compilation is in general sports betting thread?

Thanks for the compliment and merits. This thread is for a general sports betting which means any prediction on sports is allowed here. I hope that you find this thread a helpful tool on for choosing the right bet on sports betting.

I encourage everyone to help me in finding other tipster thread out there that still not listed above. That will really help to make this list accurate and useful to all of us.  Wink

Just a recommendation, can you change the title to "List of Sports Betting Prediction Thread" instead? I think its much more proper, just my 2 cents.

If you would implement the recommendations of people here about tracking the predictions, grading the bets, and ranking the tipsters on this thread, this will extremely be a hit! To be honest, no one is really tracking the predictions of these tipsters and no one can really tell which tipster is telling the truth about their stats. Something like this will change all of that!
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What stage of adoption is Crypto currently at? on: January 26, 2018, 01:32:05 AM
Just wanted to know where you guys think we are. Are we still in the early adoption stage?

At what stage of the dot com era would you put us at? Dial up lol?

Hard to say, from what I've seen over the news around the world and within my country, there is really no much adoption yet. People are afraid to use it due to the great volatility of cryptocurrencies and this scares a lot of people. There is a chance that you have a million today and half that in the next days. Adoption is indeed the problem with new technologies.

I would say that once things stabilize and volatility minimizes I think the world will accept it as is. But right now, I think we'll have to stick with it for now and adoption will come.
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Never join any pump and dump groups on: January 25, 2018, 11:51:24 PM
their premium members buy at bottom and sell you at the top. Avoid these at all costs. Few other things to avoid are, lending platforms like bitconnect(RIP), davor etc, McAfee - avoid this joker at all cost he is an actual nutcase and I don't think he knows much about crypto projects or have any deep knowledge of any kind on crypto, if you've been following him and his reccommendations you know this already, avoid ICO's with no cap.

DO YOUR OWN F****  RESEARCH
                                  -  A wise man

I'd say the same. These pump and dump groups indeed will position themselves before they even pronounce their predictions. So in that case the will profit big time while the members just go for scraps. Or usually they just announce something very late, like for example they announce a crypto that just gone up really high within the last 30 minutes and call that as something that will continue to pump. It's all the same, to be honest no one will give out free money.
169  Economy / Economics / Re: How can Bitcoin be used as loans for real estate? on: January 25, 2018, 11:42:29 PM
Some people argue that something cannot ever be considered as money if you cannot get credit through it, so for example you want to buy real estate and you need a loan, this needs government approval. How can Bitcoin ever reach that point of acceptance by a government if ultimately Bitcoin is disruptive against all states and governments? Or can Bitcoin be money even if it can only be used as a gold substitute?

Right now, I highly doubt that the banks will give you a loan using your bitcoins as collateral. Right now the governments are not even in support of cryptocurrencies yet. They will indeed deny you the chance of getting that loan. In fact, the banks are also against it as they see it as a threat to their business. Also another point to consider is the volatility of cryptocurrency. Since they will loan you fiat that would mean they would be exposed to exceptional risks due to the volatility. Say for example you loaned $19,000 and used 1 BTC as collateral back when prices were that high, they would be losing now since the price is just $10,000-$12,000 ranges.
170  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Wallet for sale on: January 25, 2018, 11:34:00 PM
Hi,
I have a 0.1 BTC paper wallet that has not been touched since 2015, I don't know if it is any more valuable since its untouched ? Some one might want to offer some more for it, I don't know ?

What is stopping you from spending it yourself? This is a silly offer OP, no one will bite your offer. Just spend it yourself and stop trying to trick someone into buying something you can spend yourself since you also have the private key. Or someone else could buy it with enough knowledge to reverse any transaction you place after you spend it yourself. It can be double spent and in the end you lose. So just use it yourself, nothing good will come out of doing this.
171  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-25] UK Prime Minister to Look at Bitcoin Action ‘Very Seriously' on: January 25, 2018, 10:44:14 PM
Criminals? Really? Ok let's break it down for our dear Prime Minister. First of, if it was indeed used for crime it is not the way the criminals paid for whatever illegal shit they are buying. The point is it is happening regardless of whether cryptocurrencies are involved or not! This has been the notion about cryptocurrencies for years, but they do not consider the fact that fiat is used in 99% of all illicit transactions and likely cryptocurrencies just makes up that 1%. They should consider comparing crypto and fiat in terms of how much exposure the two have in all illicit transactions, so we don't just see crypto in a bad light.
172  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Why I think the crypto market will be worth about $6 trillion by 2019 on: January 25, 2018, 10:26:19 PM
Here's why I think $6 trillion is completely reasonable:
1. Wall Street hasn't jumped in yet.
2. Big business still has its toes in the water.
3. There's widespread and mainstream awareness,  but very little mainstream adoption.
4. We're going to see at least one governments currency collapse soon, with that nation switching to cryptos. That will begin a widespread acceptance of cryptos as legitimate.
5. The trend in the general population is anti central authority aka. big banks, governments, big corporations. Look at brexit, Trump, the rise of nationalism against the EU, etc.  Cryptocurrencies are the embodiment of anti authority and giving the people more control over their wealth.

With so many catalysts, a 10-12x growth for this market is definitely a possibility.

What do you all think?

Yes and no.

Yes, because the cryptocurrency market is indeed potentially worth that much. It could grow even higher than that. Prices have indeed grown by already more than x10 the past year (2017), so that is something to consider although since indeed there is not even 10% of the population that actually buys and uses crypto, there is indeed a lot of room for growth.

No, because wall street just follows where the money is at. That is not something sustainable. Let's all remember these are the guys that brought us the financial crisis years back. It's not like they are ethical enough to even prevent that from happening again. But let's do hope the new policies and laws around the world would prevent another financial crisis with cryptocurrencies being the "catalyst" for that event.
173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First 2 mb block was mined. You want more of this? Use Segwit enabled wallets on: January 24, 2018, 06:42:11 AM
Life goes on, I guess. People just care about the price fluctuations of bitcoins. They don't really care about the technicalities of how to use it. As long as they know they can move bitcoins then they just use it. Though I hope in the future people use the segwit much more as it really defeats the purpose the we upgraded the bitcoin protocol.

"People don't care how it works, they only care it does" - I think it came from Watch Dogs 2, not sure, but it really fits in this situation.
174  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-23] A price for Bitcoin from $25.000 to $50.000 possible on: January 24, 2018, 06:15:51 AM
It's really hard these days to comment on any more of these predictions. Usually people just blurt out what they want even without considering the consequence of what they are saying (look at McAfee). The problem next stems to people just hearing what they want to say, and thus they post, share, like or whatever the statement and this causes a media frenzy on people who also like what they hear. In the end, these kinds of news comes out. Not because they are well written news but more of just because people are hyping up something.

How can I say this? Just look at this news for example. Who the hell is "Kambiz Djafari" anyway? Who gave him the right or what did he do to have the power to predict bitcoin prices? Just ask yourselves that.
175  Economy / Speculation / Re: I am planning to buy 1 BTC. Do I need to wait few more days for a price fall? on: January 24, 2018, 05:21:05 AM
I think today is a good time to buy already. The price is pretty low compared to its potential increase in the next few weeks. I think it will bounce back when time comes that it gets some positive news. Right now there is really a lot of fake negative news going around and more of the news today are just speculations and not really true news. But when everything clears up, for sure it will go up.
176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin casino. Have anyone played them? Are they trustable? on: January 19, 2018, 11:26:47 AM
Hi.

I often play online casinos, but it is pain always to use bank for money deposits and withdraws.

I started to research casino sites and found some articles about bitcoin casinos (for example - http://cryptland.com/best-bitcoin-casinos),
so I have a question - can I trust any of these casinos and does they really pay out Bitcoins. It would be much easier to deposit, withdraw Bitcoins for me.

If anybody has experience with Bitcoin casinos, please let me know.

Thanks

in the past, I often play games in bitcoin gambling sites and I think I can trust them since I don't use too much money but sometimes, I make a deposit to my wallet and continue to play. they still pay out their member until now and I think if you choose only play on the recommended gambling site, then you don't have any problem. the point is you need to search a good gambling site so you can play gambling on that site without worry about anything.
The thing is, you should not really blindly trust a gambling site. It is best to check their background and past activity. Have they paid winnings without a hitch in the past? have they cheated anyone? Did they arbitrarily change the ToS of their bonus to cheat a gambler? Things like that. It really depends on the due diligence of a gambler if he would be scammed or not.
177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will we ever see players transfer paid with bitcoin ??! on: January 19, 2018, 11:16:58 AM
Of course, it won't happen.  Bitcoin will never be used to pay for player transfers because of its volatility.  It can be used maybe for some internet games and players, but surely never for football player transfers. Clubs have enough money. They don't need bitcoins to get a player.

On the one hand, I think the volatility would not cause any problem because the of both sides will agree on the exact value in bitcoin and also all the details remaining. Also, they will report, a contract that guarantees everyone's rights. In the other hand, this point of weakness could be turned into a quality because the price can go up and volatility in this case becomes a feature of bitcoin.

Volatility affects a lot of things, yeah you can stipulate the amount of BTC that would be paid, but that does not stop the price from falling or rising. It would result to a loss on either side. First of you don't convert your BTC immediately after payment nor would you be able to pay using your bitcoins directly after buying it. There is a time difference from all those actions.
178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Q for Bitcoin gamblers. Are you affected by high transaction fees? on: January 19, 2018, 11:08:32 AM
The only site I play on (Crypto-Games) already has segwit enabled, at least you can deposit using your segwit address.
I'm just waiting until they implement segwit addresses themselves, but they're working on it;

If you do not have a Segwit address in your deposit screen then they do not have Segwit enabled yet. Plus you should know that Segwit is backwards compatible. You can make deposits to legacy wallets from your Segwit wallet and vice versa.

Quote
I only gamble using my signature campaign earnings as well, haven't changed my receiving address to segwit yet, but I will once CG supports it fully.

Again Segwit is backwards compatible. You can receive Bitcoins from legacy wallets to your Segwit wallet.

I don't think a lot of gambling sites have implemented segwit yet. Since this is pretty new, it will take sometime to adopt. Even if this was implemented last year, not all users have even used it yet. There are still a lot of users still using the same addresses that are non-segwit. I guess it will really take time before the whole community uses segwit.

Although, how fast are the transactions on segwit anyway? Will it really improve transaction speed and fees? I have yet to read on this.
179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When do you know its time to Stop? on: January 19, 2018, 11:02:30 AM
When I reach the goal that I want that's the time for me to stop.
And also when the money that I have deposited have been loss.

Its really hard to tell mate. I just came from a landbased casino and I said to myself that if I just won enough I will go home. Fortunately, I was sitting at a baccarat table and have some winnings. However, my judgement has been clouded, I never stop until I lost everything. Then I try to chase it and won it back. But damn, I can't control myself and played again and again until everything has been swept. Good thing though, the money that I gamble is a amount that I could afford to lose. If not, I will be having nightmares right now. LOL.
Maybe it depends upon of every individual of how they will manage the situation because as for me i will stop if i think i have successively lose my bet and i will not get into the situation to gamble all my remaining money by just hoping to win again on the next round.

Yeah and it just depends on how much a person has and his tolerance to risk. Though I just hope nobody has enough tolerance that he would risk losing everything until he realize that he needs to stop.
180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports content writers wanted on: January 19, 2018, 10:50:59 AM
Maybe it is better if you post this on the services section. Thy is really not the best place to be looking for this kind of service. Although it is about gambling, this is not where people looking for work would be look at.

Although I am interested in the work, if you want anything NBA related then I can probably do some work for you. Can I ask you to PM me the pay and more details?
