lol if you won all the time you wouldn't need money from other people, you could just bankrupt Prime Dice and every other gambling site out there. Such a shame that someone so young is so delusional
164  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Inputs.io | Instant Payments, Offchain API, Secure Wallet, 235k+ BTC transferred on: November 04, 2013, 06:27:53 PM
i would advise everyone to get their coins out of Inputs and stop using them, seems like accounts even with strong passwords and 2fa on them are being emptied, seems very much like an inside job. Use them at your own risk

Satoshi Dice = fail

with their lame house edge of 1.9% compared to other dice sites offering 1% i have no idea why anyone would want to play there.

Well they certainly dont act like a big company, i wouldn't go anywhere near Satoshi Dice if this is how they run things.

169  Economy / Gambling / Re: bitcoinlivebets.com stealing all my winnings 30 BTC on: October 10, 2013, 09:51:01 PM
bitcoinlivebets clearly stated that the maximum bet was 3btc.

By allowing a user to place a higher bet (if it was actually real) they broke their own rules as was clearly stated.
The bet in question should either be

a) null and void and money returned as it broke the terms and conditions
b) have 3btc taken from it and the rest refunded as the excess of the bet was against their terms and conditions.

If they are trying to claim that it was still possible to place high bets (nearly 10x the maximum allowed) then that is their fault and their mistake.

there is no way in hell the bet should be taken the way it has, it should be null and void or else they are breaking their own rules.
If they are going to keep the coins and accept the bet then it renders every other term and coindition on their rules null and void as they have proven that it is fine to break their rules and they actually break their own rules

either way, i wont be touching this company with a 10ft barge pole and i would advise anyone else to do the same.

I would say adjusting max profit up to 0.5% is ok to do anytime when Nak isn't playing or waiting on a deposit to arrrive in the middle of a session as it only really affects him anyway, so don't worry about giving too much notice.

I would probably leave it at 0.25% though as it seems to be doing quite well and with investment going back up the max bet will soon be 100btc. Don't feel pressured into raising it back up a bit if it proves that 0.25% is working well.

173  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: If USB Block Erupters are not worth the trouble, what is? on: September 18, 2013, 02:09:41 AM
yeah it certainly seems tough to decide what to do, a classic example i guess is cointerra selling two exact same machines, one December at $14k or have it in January for $6k. Right now i wouldn't buy a 400gh/s bitfury 55nm , i think i'd wait for a 2 th/s January cointerra 28nm machine, but then again who the hell knows what will be happening in January lol.

It's like trying to chase something that you'll never catch, it always seems a step or two ahead of you, trying to play the pre order game certainly is tough when difficulty goes up 30% so often and you have to look at a month or two of wait time.

If i was to buy 32 th/s in January will it be anywhere near as good as it would be now? i hate to think what the difficulty will be in January  Undecided
174  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: If USB Block Erupters are not worth the trouble, what is? on: September 17, 2013, 10:56:38 PM
As i understood it the cost of making the better chips gets more and more expensive, so we should reach a point where we slow right down in new designs coming out as no one will be stupid enough to pay what is needed to go the next step. I had the feeling that 28nm would be that current end point, but i don't know enough about it, i thought i saw someone post here that the next chip up from 28nm would be insanely expensive, so that gave me the idea that we might reach the point where stocking and shipping catches up to chip design and we end up with 28nm machines off the shelf.

175  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: If USB Block Erupters are not worth the trouble, what is? on: September 17, 2013, 07:45:01 PM
we've raced along from the 130nm or 110nm asic up to the 28nm and is it the case that 28nm could be the standard for a while and we settle down a bit because of the cost involved making better than 28nm chips? Are we slowly reaching the point where we will be able to buy 28nm machines off the shelf knowing they'll actually be good for a while, without next generation chips coming out every couple of months?

What puts me off buying is that even with Bitfury's 55nm machines i know the 28nms will be out soon so there seems no point pre-ordering 55nm when you know a better chip is already about to come out, which has been the case for a while now since coming down from the 100+ chips. By December/January will we finally have a more settled industry where we can buy off the shelf and not worry about new generations coming out every month or two?

I'd like to be able to put all my coins into mining, the January pre orders with cointerra seem tempting with 2th/s for $6k, but again i feel like i should wait my time until we can buy "off the shelf" and know exactly what stats we're looking at

Joe Lewis, a billionaire foreign-exchange trader who teamed up with hedge-fund manager George Soros in 1992 to bet against the Bank of England, is the latest high-profile financier to throw his weight behind the virtual currency called bitcoin.

Mr. Lewis leads the Phoenix Fund, a Zurich-based private-equity fund that on Tuesday plans to invest $200 million in Avalon, a company that makes computer servers aimed at creating bitcoins, according to people familiar with the situation.

Bitcoin is a virtual currency that exists online and isn't backed by any government or central bank. Bitcoins were invented in 2008 by a computer programmer who goes by the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, who describes it as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system.

Joe Lewis's Phoenix Fund is investing in a bitcoin company.

The Phoenix Fund's investment in Avalon reflects the growing popularity of virtual currencies, which are also coming under scrutiny from regulators. Other bitcoin enthusiasts include Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who are best known for their role in the creation of Facebook Inc. FB +1.50% They have proposed an exchange-traded fund that is tied to bitcoins.

Bitcoins are created through a process called mining, in which computers solve complex mathematical algorithms to earn the bitcoins. The total number of bitcoins that can be mined is limited to 21 million. There are now about 11.5 million bitcoins in circulation, according to Blockchain, a website that monitors bitcoin transactions.

The Phoenix deal will also involve Taiwanese microchip maker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., 2330.TW +0.50% which is set to supply the state-of-the-art microchips that will power the hardware.

The Phoenix Fund was set up this year to invest in bitcoin mining-hardware companies. It looked at several of Avalon's rivals in the sector, including Butterfly Labs and KnCMiner but decided against investing, according to a person familiar with the private-equity firm's strategy.

Investors in the Phoenix Fund, which includes a small number of individuals who made their fortunes in currency trading, believe that the currency will become more stable and popular if more parties are involved in the mining process, this person said.

Mr. Lewis moved into currency trading in the 1980s and 1990s. In September 1992, Mr. Lewis teamed up with Mr. Soros to bet on sterling crashing out of the European Exchange Rate Mechanism, an event that was later named "Black Wednesday." Mr. Lewis didn't respond to a request for comment.

Mr. Lewis had big losses investing in U.S. brokerage firm Bear Stearns Cos, in which he began amassing a stake during 2007, The Wall Street Journal reported at the time.

Mr. Lewis is the main investor in an unlisted company called Tavistock Group, which has investments in more than 200 companies across the globe.

Tavistock Group includes ENIC Group, which has a Bahamas-registered subsidiary called ENIC International Ltd., through which Mr. Lewis owns 85% of the shares in U.K. soccer club Tottenham Hotspur.

The Phoenix Fund is independent of Tavistock.

The bitcoin deal was put together by Andrew Laurus, a former government-bonds salesman at Lehman Brothers who is also an investor in the fund. Avalon was set up by Yifu Guo, a pioneer in the bitcoin-mining industry. He was part of the team that developed the first ASIC bitcoin mining hardware. ASIC stands for application-specific integrated circuit, a type of custom-designed microchip. Mr. Guo couldn't be reached for comment.

Separately, Coinflash, a company that planned to set up kiosks for bitcoin enthusiasts to buy the virtual currency, is shutting down before it even opened its doors. "Due to an unforeseen change in our personal circumstances, we've made the difficult decision to suspend Coinflash's services indefinitely," the San Diego-based company said in an email statement.

Coinflash was established earlier this year and had planned to open the bitcoin kiosks in California and New York this summer.

As part of the deal, Avalon will gain access to TSMC microchips based on 20-nanometer processes, which are much faster than other chips. TSMC recently won a contract to supply chips to Apple. The increased processing power should give Avalon an edge in solving the algorithms that control the supply of bitcoins.

this was the poor guy, can you even imagine what it's like to have 720k euros stolen from you and only being left with 128?? that is unbelievable to me that they could do that. It's one thing to have say 5% or 10% taken, but 84.8% of your balance stolen? really crazy

my mother sold my grandmas house and i urged her to get the money out of the banks in case anything happened, so she decided to buy another house outright where she lives to rent out, so no mortgage, and even if the housing market goes down i still feel better having it like that than sitting in a bank account waiting to get stolen at any time they like

i dont trust banks at all, i always keep minimum amounts in there
