161  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bit365.eu - Reduced Juice BTC Sports Betting - No Registration - Fast Payouts on: February 18, 2013, 07:51:28 PM
Thankfully a disclaimer and a picture of flags doesn't take away from our betting experience. A friendly reminder that Blockbet is built on Wordpress, blogging software. Please stick to your own thread.

So you're saying it's okay to copy-paste somebody else's content on your site?
162  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bit365.eu - Reduced Juice BTC Sports Betting - No Registration - Fast Payouts on: February 18, 2013, 12:01:31 PM
I don't typically comment on the competition, but I wish you'd do something original with your site. Even your disclaimer is copy-pasted from my site (with just a few words replaced), and the flags under your logo are taken from SatoshiDice. They're even in the same order, with just the American flag removed.

Blockbet.net disclaimer:

We reserve the right to cancel and return any bet at any time. This may happen if a bet is incorrectly placed, confirmed by the Bitcoin network after a match has started, if there is an unexpected shift or an obvious mistake in the match odds, or if there is an uncommonly large number of bets at a given time or selection.

Easy to agree with the previous posts. It's important to know what your strengths are, and build your site around those. I have a background in business, not graphics or coding, so I didn't want to try anything too fancy with our site and instead focused on the functionality and making sure the core information is easy to find. The first build of the site was horrible, but during time we've gotten it pretty close that what we think it should be. There actually have been some graphical updates that we've ultimately had to reject because we thought that they made the site harder to use.

And it actually has been quite fun learning about HTML, CSS, Javascript and so on in the process! I recommend you don't spend too much time worrying about your site's look, launch it when it's ready, make sure everything works, and then build according to user feedback.

Nice to hear Smiley Rising Stars game is now online, as is the actual All Star game that's on Sunday. You can also bet on the MVP of the main game. And don't forget about the weekend's NHL games, we've reduced the juice for a bit to get more action there since the NBA regular season is having a break!

There was initially a mixup between East and West teams, it has now been fixed. Unfortunately that meant that we had to void and refund one bet that was already placed for the All Star game. Sorry for the inconvenience.
165  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook on: February 14, 2013, 10:03:53 PM
An odd question, but do you think you'll have anything for the NBA All-Star weekend? I'd like to bet the Rising Stars game tomorrow, and it's always fun to put a few bucks down on the competitions.

Yeah, we'll have the Rising Stars game up early tomorrow and we'll also cover the main game. Not sure that we can do the other competitions but in any case, you'll see the games posted on our front page once they become available.

OK.  I was under assumption that it was automatic.

Oh, I wish it was automatic, that would make my life so much easier! But there are so many modifiers involved and possible exploits, so I don't know if that's possible to do at the moment. I do agree that in general terms we can, and we should, make our payouts even faster.

The idea behind the 12-hour payment is that, no matter what happens, we can process payments at least twice a day, and not give people unrealistic expectations. According to my recollection, we have never taken 12 hours to complete payments, and 10 hour delays have now happened twice, usually payouts are much faster than that. When it comes to the NBA and NHL, we prefer to process those games all at the same time once the last game has finished.

If you look at traditional sportsbooks, they usually credit your account pretty quickly, so that you can make another bet. But if you want to spend that money elsewhere, you first have to make a withdrawal request that can take days to complete. So in that sense I think our 12-hour policy is quite good to the players.
167  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook on: February 14, 2013, 09:10:09 AM
It is nice that you are in here explaining to me why you are unable to process my payment from tonights games.........thanks.

Try to understand that we get a lot of bets each day and night. Those payouts don't happen in a matter of seconds and there may be delays in the Bitcoin network as well. I have now processed all of yesterday's NBA and NHL bets in about 6 hours after the earliest match ended, so I don't think that time frame is unreasonable by any means.
168  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook on: February 14, 2013, 08:31:44 AM
Payment is not automatic. This is why it sometimes takes 5 minutes, sometimes 2 hours, sometimes 12 hours. This is mentioned on our front page. You have to understand that we cannot be handling payouts 24 hours a day because people need to eat and sleep too.

If you're talking about yesterday's Champions League games, the payment was done in 10 hours after the games had finished. I understand that people can get worried about their bitcoins, but please be patient. We process payments always as soon as possible, there is no reason for us to withhold payments for any time.

Hey,

Could you give our site a bit of an update? We now have a better logo, American odds, some new leagues and a couple of other new features and would be nice to have those mentioned on your site.

Basketball, Football, Ice Hockey, UFC, Specials
Bets between 0.01 - 10.00 BTC accepted
American and Decimal odds
No account needed
12-hour payouts

Thanks Smiley

Champions League games and UFC have been added to our selection, with more to come. I think we'll also have some specials bets for tomorrow's Real Madrid - ManU game, should be a very interesting match!
171  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook on: February 10, 2013, 05:46:50 PM
American odds are now available for all the games and outcomes. Let me tell you, that wasn't easy! Note that American odds are rounded numbers, payouts are still based on decimal odds, but the differences either way are very minimal.

Also once more a reminder about the maximum bet amounts, we've been getting some very large bets from the same source recently, so bets are only accepted up to 10 BTC per selection per player, anything more than that will be voided and returned.
172  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBears - no waiting, 1.1x payout, 97% odds on: February 10, 2013, 10:09:29 AM
In my opinion that might make more sense once you have more traffic, because at the moment it looks like those bears haven't moved a whole lot in a few days, so the risk of resetting due to time is quite high. I admit I am an owner of one of the bears and I'd prefer not to lose that investment so soon :/
173  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetwithBTC.com - The Premiere Bitcoin Gaming Directory on: February 10, 2013, 10:06:49 AM
Thanks for the add, I guess my next priority now is to create a more attractive logo for the site Smiley

Also the divisions for different bet types is a very good addition.
174  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBears - no waiting, 1.1x payout, 97% odds on: February 10, 2013, 02:55:52 AM
Ok, I added the time rule.  If a Bear sits stagnant for 48 hours, it resets.

Doesn't this make the odds of winning much smaller?
175  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook on: February 07, 2013, 05:11:04 PM
Parlay bets are back! NBA and NHL pages have separate Bitcoin addresses for parlay bets and all game outcomes are numbered, as before.

Parlay bets can have up to three selections from different games from a league. You specify your selections as double digits at the end of your bet. Parlay bet odds are calculated by multiplying all selection odds together.

Examples:

Selections 03,08 for 1 bitcoin = 1.00000308 BTC
Selections 11,23,70 for 0.1 bitcoin = 0.10112370 BTC

Do you think that's easy enough? It's probably not the optimal solution, but I wanted to make it as fast and easy as possible without messing with forms any more. It's also important that it works as a single payment.

There's plenty of NHL action tonight, so give it a try!

It's back online, thankfully it wasn't a longer blackout.
177  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBears - no waiting, 1.1x payout, 97% odds on: February 05, 2013, 10:36:05 AM
Funny idea, I just bought a bear. Somebody give Baloo a new home!

I didn't put any link on it, but now it links to some weird address that doesn't work. Maybe you could look into that. Ideally it shouldn't link anywhere.
178  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockBet.net - New Online BTC Sportsbook on: February 05, 2013, 06:58:18 AM
Super Bowl Sunday was a busy day for us, with over 50 bets placed and a total of over 170 BTC paid to the winners. Big thanks to the players and congrats to all the winners! Make sure to check out our selection of games for the NBA, NHL and other leagues while you wait for the next NFL season to start  Wink

Also I'd like to kindly remind people about our maximum bet size of 10 BTC, and that we maintain the right to void bets that go over that amount. I'm glad to see people are excited about Bitcoin betting and that they have such confidence in their favorite teams, but we've been getting bets of 20, 25, 30 BTC to single selections, and given the current exchange rate, that's a bit too much for us. This limit is for the players benefit, we want to make sure that all winners can get paid, even if they win all their bets. Thanks for understanding, hopefully we can raise the maximum bet size soon.

This means no parlays? D:

We wanted to simplify the betting process into as few steps possible (just one step actually), so unfortunately that was one of the compromises we had to make. However I do have a couple of ideas on how we could make parlays work, so hopefully we'll have them back soon!

As a new feature we have some "Mixed Doubles / Triples" on the front page, you may find some interesting combinations with good odds there in the meanwhile.

There is now also a simple odds converter that can be used to convert decimal odds into American odds, hopefully that will make the odds seem a bit clearer. I also manually posted American odds to the Super Bowl, but we can't do that to every game.

Site update: Betting with Bitcoin doesn't get any easier than this!

We've overhauled our betting process, and gone are the forms and numbers of the earlier version. Now, all games and selections have unique Bitcoin addresses, all you have to do is send your bet to the appropriate address, and your bet is automatically registered. Your winning bets will be paid back to the sending address, so please make sure that you can accept bitcoins there (some eWallets can't). Feel free to try it with small amounts first to see how it works.

Also, guys, thanks for the suggestions. NHL games now have Moneyline selections as well. We are trying to come up with an easy way to display American odds, but for now there is a simple bet calculator that you can use to see how much any bet can win. Tennis will hopefully be added in the future. We're committed to improving the site, and while there is still a lot of work to be done, I think we're heading for the right direction with each update.

Oh, and we've got plenty of bets already available for the Super Bowl. Winner? Number of touchdowns? Longest field goal? Interceptions? Most Valuable Player?
