161  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Gigabyte G1.Sniper 3 motherboard on: May 18, 2013, 02:17:12 AM
it's really a nice board, but

for mining, the board is over killed, bad on ROI
for gaming, gaming ppl don't visit here so often

maybe try CL or overclock.net?
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] 1btc= 8700XRP on: May 17, 2013, 11:48:32 PM

you didn't fell down in a puddle during camping trip and water damage the macbook, did you? Cheesy
just want to make sure  Wink
166  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Selling Macbook Pro 20011 with broken Display on: May 12, 2013, 12:29:17 PM
ouch.....

the "screen" you refer to is actually synthetic glass, it's separated from the actual screen behind it.

so the actual screen with a dent like that is probably cracked  Embarrassed

but based on you keyboard layout, you are in Europe?
167  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Selling Macbook Pro 20011 with broken Display on: May 12, 2013, 01:53:22 AM
OK, waiting for your pics.

169  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Selling Macbook Pro 20011 with broken Display on: May 11, 2013, 02:38:07 AM
if it's only used for 1 month, could you tell what happened to it?
so ppl can make their offer more reasonable

171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help getting my 7970 past the 660khps barrier on: May 10, 2013, 10:13:11 PM
From what I found out, scrypt mining changed quite a bit starting with the 3.0 version of CGminer....

This is what I use now on my XFX 7970 DD OC:
-I 13 --gpu-memclock 1760 --gpu-engine 1012 --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 20480 --lookup-gap 2 -g 2

Gets me a stable 715Khash.

Owh and to the guy above me, my cgminer has never pulled more than 250mb of ram, ever. (windows)

that's interesting, before I tweak the cgminer to suck up more hash power from my cards, care to venture an experiment?
say, 1G RAM and mine scrypt coins, coz I can't even get a 7850 mine scypt on 1G RAM, maybe I need to play with parameters more.
172  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Affordable Cooling for Cards? on: May 10, 2013, 03:11:19 PM
I've been looking into something like this:

http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/detail/index/sArticle/502/sCategory/2182

Does anyone have any experience with this product?

OK, after several hours of work I put xtreme Plus II on 7950 and let the glue dry overnight.

three cards have temp of
66, 61, 54 @ less that 50% fan

VRM temp (I see two VRM sensor on each card)
81, 78
69, 73
69, 74

TPU shows cards are running at 0.96v (I set in MSI AB @ 1.06v)

and the result is mining scrypt coins, so I guess you will have better temp if it's SHA256 coins.
hope this helps.

today I just ordered 3 Accelero Xtreme II for my 7950s (with EK adapter, it will fit the card no problem)
It's on clearance sale  Cheesy
I'll let you know the result.

It should cut down on power consumption by a huge margin. 79XX series benefits greatly from water cooling.

IIRC, the power savings from a watercooled 7970 was because the waterblock keeps the VRM temps as cool as the GPU core, which runs more efficient. This Accelero does not do that, and people often times see higher VRM temps.

true for Full cover water block, but not for GPU core.
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][ROYALCOIN][POOL][RBPPS] RoyalCoin mining pool on: May 09, 2013, 04:12:05 PM
nice pool, switch to it now.

I am lucky enough to find a block on solo mining within a hour, but no more in another 2 hours..... Embarrassed
175  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Affordable Cooling for Cards? on: May 09, 2013, 11:16:43 AM
They should work well, I have a couple of those on the Nvidia cards I use for gaming. A bit pricey for Bitcoin rigs though. I'm a slave for price/performance ratio so I'm just using a couple of huge old fans.

well, at the price of 45 each I guess is reasonable Cheesy

I was halfway down that road, and changed my mind.
I am still not comfortable to use water around rigs Undecided

 Shocked holy......

never go cheap with PSU, coz you can't afford lost the whole rig

I put my 7850 back to the mining rig after I received the riser last week, and it's making BTC0.01 a day Cheesy
Can't complain. Cheesy
178  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: BTC accepted for Solar + Mining? on: May 08, 2013, 08:14:51 PM
I loved the idea till I saw the price of the system.

Is BTC270 means 270 bitcoins?
I should think so because $28K means 28K us dollar,
so any idea how many years of electricity bill it will pay off with this amount of money? Huh

well, if it means 270 USD in terms of bitcoin, then it's my bad.

1. every card has it's own sweet spot/combination of core and memory frequency, you have to find it turn by turn (sucks and time consuming), try the ratio around .55-.57.
2. try reaper, (my cards do get 30k more in reaper than CG)
3. for scrypt coin mining, you need way more system RAM than SHA 256 coins, say 1.5G/card is reasonable.
