161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is now a GOOD or BAD time to invest? on: March 24, 2021, 07:51:37 PM
Footing my own knowledge and understanding aboutvcryptocurrency market. Every market session is good and bad time to invest because of the crypto market volatile in nature which would make the market dump or pump in price without anything footing it.
But it important is the trader/investor knowledge in making a profitable decision and choosing an investment.
162  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Operation Hidden Treasure on: March 24, 2021, 07:04:32 PM
Instead of forming this specialized team of criminal investigation professionals to track cryptocurrency tax evasion, it would have been better if they had formed a committee to regulate cryptocurrencies and make them legal in the country, that would have been much better, as long as there is no regulation of cryptocurrencies in the country, tax evasion will continue. I think this solution is a lot better than forming a tracking team.
Cryptocurrency cannot be totally regulated, the government can only regulate exchange that operated on their soil which the reason why KYC/AML was introduced then but they learned that some crypto users circumvent tax through the use of peer2peer exchange that's why trained their team on how to investigate people that partake in such activities and despite their training some people will still be able to circumvent the tax. However, tax circumvent is a serious crime and people should not partake in it.
163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: March 22, 2021, 07:52:10 PM
I agreed Man City are favorite and also lucky either to face an easy opponent in the quarter final of this year Champ league
Meanwhile, this is an advantage for Manchester City. But for me every match now is going to be tighter because everything is very close to the Final and that is the target of all the team. There are no easy match, but maybe the result will be easy to predict, like Manchester City vs Dortmund and Bayern Muenchen vs PSG.

However, I want Manchester City to qualify for the semifinal and do their best there before reaching the Final. Whoever the opponent is now, it's never easy.
You said it yourself that there are no easy match now and I believe every team will be careful but if you consider the remain game not to be easy why is it easy to predicted?
The last time I checked, Bayern and PSG game is also not easy to predict because they are currently like a rival if you remember they both played last year final.
164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: March 22, 2021, 06:25:07 PM
....Real Madrid - Liverpool would also e a very nice semi final by the way.
That won't happen since they will are facing each other in the quarter-finals. Did you miss that? The winner will play either Chelsea or Porto in the semi-finals.

Quote
I prefer to see Manchester City vs Real Madrid. Madrid is a team that really can beat City.
Man City will be playing against PSG or Bayern if they win against Dortmund. Either of the two can handle and beat City.

I’m not convinced Man City will get past Dortmund. They have form for choking in the CL, they have 0 CL titles in their history. Pep hasn’t won the CL since he was at Barcelona too. Man City are favourites but it is by no means a foregone conclusion.
I agreed Man City are favorite and also lucky either to face an easy opponent in the quarter final of this year Champ league but football can be hard predicted sometime and I think Porto winning over Cristiano Ronaldo in the last 16 games should be a lesson but the first leg game will show us how Man City are serious about going to the next level.
165  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I coded a bot that buys bitcoin every time Elon Musk tweets about bitcoin and op on: March 22, 2021, 04:07:10 PM
Nice one but I am the type that believes Elon Musk tweet to be the major Bitcoin market price drive but his ranks in terms of Billionaire and level of knowledge which make a lot of naive cryptos investors use his tweet as an investment decision but this will only happen for some time just like we have seen through McAfee back then.

Strategies to supposedly get an even higher return seems like a waste of time to me.
The cryptocurrency market always presents a new opportunity and not seizing the opportunity is what I consider to be a waste of time so there's nothing bad in creating strategies to get high returns.

166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is trash on: March 22, 2021, 03:30:42 PM
Bitcoin is not trashing but we need to understand and don't be blind by the freedom of Bitcoin because there arent total freedom anyway in the world whichever way you look at it we're still governed by the government/banks. Besides, nothing guarantees that the major institutional investors are not the doing of powerful politicians.

There wasn't a single person in the Bitcoin community who was helping me when I did seven days without eating.
How many people are aware of this fight? If no one from the Bitcoin community is helping to fight for Bitcoin, bitcoin who have to crumble during Chinese and SEC raised red flag before they implemented KYC/AML which causes the no freedom we're I said earlier.
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can / cannot replace the banks ? on: March 22, 2021, 03:09:22 PM
as we know banks have long been known by the public and Bitcoin is still relatively new in the eyes of the public and many people already know about bitcoin but they are hesitant to try it, so I think bitcoin will not be able to replace a bank that has been embedded in people's daily lives and bank security is already  very guaranteed while bitcoin there are still many cases of fraud or hacking and others.
There's no point in compare Bitcoin and the banks because they have different concepts but you cant practically blame Bitcoin for the hack and fraud situation that happened to people because and if we check the history of fraud that happened in the Bitcoin and Banks system, Banks fraud issue surpassed Bitcoin.
168  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance are the godfather of crypto on: March 22, 2021, 02:06:41 PM
So binance are Now one of the biggest.
And its easy to use also have debit card option.
And many People Move there eveyday.
The same thing happens to every reputable exchange we have not Binance only and the last time I check some people never feel comfortable using Binance due to its centralized system even when use their P2P exchange.

If something happens with binance its end of crypto.
If nothing to crypto market than just a flash dump in price of the market when China banned Bitcoin nothing will also happen to the crypto market if Binance have an issue and if you can the history of the exchange it was once attacked by online theft.

So my question is what backing binance if binance Holding so big responsebility who or what is behind them to Back it Up?
Binance any crypto market responsibility, it only holds the responsibilities of their users and staffs.

Also it's a Good time for binance to think about insurance if they dont have one.
They claimed to use SAFU to prevent user's funds from lost.

So to speak People use services whats easy fast and simple
Not everybody does that but crypto traders have 2 or more accounts with different exchange footing the features they provided.
169  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: People die from heart attack when they hit the jackpot. on: March 22, 2021, 12:38:44 AM
But if you're aiming for a jackpot then probably should've ready your plan on how you'll spend your money.

Why would you gamble to get a jackpot if you aren't having a dream of having a business, building a house and so many more thing you've wanted. So if you're trying to invest in gambling, plan right now for your future and make sure that you're gambling because you're aiming for something that will make your life better.
What is a jackpot? It is a sudden luck. Here we can't have prior plans, can just have spending plans with the hope of jackpot. Invest in gambling will get you regular income, because no house is on the losing side. When you're with plans of making big fortunes out of gambling, be careful about it. We can't get expected results all the time.
@Vaskiy, although the chance of winning in gambling is 1% but the house is not always winning side and a lot of gambling bankrolls can testify to this.
@finaleshot2016, yes every jackpot players usually have a plan on how they'll spend their money but how many of them follow it after they won the jackpot? Having a plan is one thing but following when the money comes in is hard.
Aside from that, there's a mistake in the OP post, the man that won the jackpot didn't die after he wins but he died before he wins and won the jackpot after he cheats die.
170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Considering huge transaction fees, what coins to support on new gambling site? on: March 21, 2021, 11:37:43 PM
With fees so high, I'm wondering if big gamblers are switching from BTC/ETH to other options. Is there any data on what's being used? With limited options, what coins should a new platform consider supporting?
Footing the long existence and the rank hold on capital market. I beleive the best coin with fair transaction that any gambling site should consider integrate to their platform are Litecoin and Dogecoin though I dont like the coin neither did I once invest in but it still habe a reasonable tx fee. I can see alot of people mentioning XRP which I dont see as a good decision if they still have issue with the US SEC.
171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have anyone tried to stop gamblers from losing while they keep on wagering. on: March 21, 2021, 10:48:20 PM

But what you guys don't understand is those that find themselves in the situation of wagering to recover their loss aren't enjoying the game but punishing themselves physically and mentally although we can only advise them to stop we cannot force them.

There's a guilt feeling behind it, they do not want to lose, and guilty that they lose money that they are not comfortable to lose, so they try to add more money in the hope that they can recover it, many gamblers have experienced this and it's a hard lesson to learn but if you have this experience, you have learn the hard way that gambling is not to make money always.
Almost every gambler could've experienced this. From that point some might've quit gambling, but with majority of the gamblers who had lost their earnings look for an opportunity to add more money and recover back the loss. This is what makes the gamblers to stay long into gambling, even when they realise that gambling is meant to make money.
It not almost every gambler experience this kind of issue because gambling is just like crypto trading where the market is volatile and every investment decision does not guarantee profit until a successful trade is done.
Gamblers that chase after loses or have guilt feelings because he loose the game definitely lack a proper understanding of gambling.
Having said that, gambling is not for people who is not mature to understand gambling is a game of chance
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: HODL your ALTCOIN! We are almost on ALT SEASON right now on: March 21, 2021, 07:13:32 PM
In the last bull season in 2017, after bitcoin got high to $17k - $19,000 , many investors decided investing in altcoins and that caused them to bull and I think that is what is also happening now. Etheruem is no longer what it was last year, bnb, cardano, litecoin, even doge coin all have increased. So I think the bull for altcoins is already happening. Check your portfolio and you can see some difference in there.
What happen then is just a flash switch of investors decision, altcoin season usually happens after the bullish market is over, the market blood bath and then it will be altcoin season.
The reason why it was called altcoin season is that the altcoin market trend is what determines the whole crypto market's bullish momentum.
173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have anyone tried to stop gamblers from losing while they keep on wagering. on: March 21, 2021, 12:24:14 AM
We can try to stop gamblers from losing more money, but we can not force them to follow our suggestion because they will decide by themselves to continue or stop gambling. I think they will hard to stop gambling, no matter if they win or lose, as they really enjoy the gambling games, so maybe not many gamblers or our friends will stop gambling as soon as possible. On one side, that is our friends, and we can not force them to stop on the other side. That will be hard situations for us to say stop to them.

I guess you would not stop someone if they are enjoying, the scenario of what OP is trying to convey to us is if we are seeing a gambler who are losing control and just gamble everything he has even if he is losing as we already know how a situation would end up.

I've been in that kind of situation so I totally understand, I gambled while I'm drunk so I got more aggressive and wasn't thinking straight and end up losing everything, including the money that was suppose for family expenses or budget.
First, I never find myself in such a situation because I always deposit the amount I can afford to lose in the first place so I gamble with free mind cause I have nothing to lose
But what you guys don't understand is those that find themselves in the situation of wagering to recover their loss aren't enjoying the game but punishing themselves physically and mentally although we can only advise them to stop we cannot force them.

174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news for Nigerian crypto enthusiast on: March 20, 2021, 11:13:42 PM
Of course, they can't completely ban Nigerians from using or trading cryptocurrencies as long as crypto exchanges don't ban Nigerian traders but the link between crypto and Nigerian fiat through banks will still remain blocked and i think this was the main issue even when the ban was announced some weeks back.
I completely felt for Nigerians as the ban is still not opted out on them, simply highlighting the quote you showed, that their government stopped the interrelationship between crypto and bank Fiat, the reason for this is clear, the value of Nigeria currency is getting devalued, governmental estimate on fiat charges is decreasing maybe when traced the causes and found out it's because citizens choosing to store money in crypto more than fiat bank now.
I don't know about the devalued of their national currency but their CBN haven't lift the banks and payment service provider dealing with crypto currency. I check every reputable exchange that offer service for crypto to NGN and none of them say anything about the news posted by the OP and I check the CBN site every it still the same.
Edit : the ban stance was only explained, i guess alot of people don't know that they didn't ban crypto currency totally.
175  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gigabet - legit or not? on: March 19, 2021, 10:03:31 PM
Ban of the user for using the gambling site chat and no other reason is absolutely is scam strategy but what I don't understand is why do people use such gambling site in the first when we have alot genuine gambling site which is currently operated signature campaign on this forum that can be easily reported is any issue happen.
176  Economy / Economics / Re: "Looks as if #Bitcoin is eating #Gold". Good idea to buy some Gold now? on: March 19, 2021, 08:47:29 PM
Since the bullish of Bitcoin market seems to impact the dump in price of Gold i believe this is also the chance to accumulate some Gold but not through Gold standard monetary system which the fiat may experience devaluation and if this system seems not to be a failure Satoshi wint have create Bitcoin in the first place.
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Power consumption propaganda? on: March 19, 2021, 03:43:30 PM
The energy consumption published by most statistics about Bitcoin mining are false and more of an attack against Bitcoin from the Bitcoin critics not footing by Bill Gate comment for it something thatt crypto enthusiasts and critics have debate about but we all honestly consume energy in some many ways but the record provided by World Energy Outlook 2020 Analysis IEA shows that global energy demand drop by 5% last year meaning we consume the 5% plus during our outdoor daily activities mind you miners and some companies are open during the period of lockdown if we do the survey and calculation we will see that the energy consumption said about Bitcoin mining is total incorrect.
178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where the F*%^ did my BTC go? on: March 18, 2021, 11:26:42 AM
@hulla, I don't know what a tx ID is.  Is that the original transaction from me to them, or them to me?
After looking at the tx ID of the wallet 1NpUiye8kznAjJSdgxyAxorGXsHjFo59FJ, the wallet doesn't look like an exchange wallet and the current balance which is 0.0058BTC is still intact. Do you have any newly created wallets or can you confirm the wallet is yours? Who refunded the BTC?

I usually have to delete my account.
Delete account, are you serious?

You will have to go to support and open a support ticket to close your account. You can simply delete your account with one click.

You have bad back up habit so it is a lesson of loss you learned and it is time to consider password managers like Keepass
https://keepass.info/
KeePassDroid
Using a password manager does not guarantee any safety is the users still don't avoid human errors.
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Probability of cryptocurrency apocalypse on: March 17, 2021, 05:15:36 PM
I suspect I have an argument for why bitcoin will die. Please challenge my suspicions.   Grin

I think many here understand that bitcoin can only have two directions: infinitely up or infinitely down.
If infinitely up, then Bitcoin will become a reserve currency and will be used in banks and at the state level. Some people will keep large amounts of bitcoin in their wallets.

Do people understand that when working with bitcoin there is every chance of losing ALL money through negligence or because of a virus. Losing all your money is INCREDIBLY simple! There will be absolutely NO chance to get them back!
I agreed with what you said except there's no chance of getting the fund stolen back because there's a chance of getting the fund if the fund back in some case when the attackers make some mistakes that link is anonymity online but it requires multiple steps though.

It can kill peoples, destroy banks or economy of entire states.
I don’t even want to say that people with large balances will experience the wildest paranoia. They may be physically tortured to gain access, because it's easy, anonymous and safe
If Bitcoin is easy, anonymous and safe as you believe, why would people with large balance experience paranoia as you said if the mistake is not from Bitcoin but from their end?
Aside from that, Bitcoin cant destroy banks or the economy but to compliment it. It some government and banks that see it as a threat just like they first did when Google was introduced.

Are you absolutely confident in the security of bitcoin client that you use? Are you absolutely sure in the security of OS that you use for the bitcoin client?
Are you always confident that the binaries you download do not contain a backdoor?
This is the reason why people are advised to always check the review and community opinion about Bitcoin client before using it but if the Bitcoin client is recommended and verify when downloading there no cause for alarm. The only left is not to visit the untrusted site or download or open a link from an untrusted source.

Are you absolutely confident that when you download a repository from a github, you download the original code? Do you check the hash every time?
Check the hash is the thing some people ignore but every APP integrated on Github has it source code included for community review.

Are you absolutely confident in your hardware?
Yes, if avoid the human error which may make the hardware vulnerable to attack.

If bitcoin becomes widespread there will be a great interest in finding and creating such vulnerabilities
Yes but those vulnerabilities will only entice the newbies and the last time I check the crypto community also develop an innovative wallet at some point to ensure crypto funds are safe.
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best stable coin when selling crypto? on: March 17, 2021, 04:20:20 PM
I would go for USDT, OP.
Though I would advise not to hold USDT for too long as many users already mentioned that USDT can be frozen and that ain't good for anybody's end when it happened in their trades.
The best stablecoin ones can use depend on the exchange site you trading on because liquidity and trade volume need to be put into consideration but I somehow like the USDC and BUSD. However, all centralized stablecoin can be freeze not only USDT but the issue with USDT is that the project foundation was not base on genuine that's the reason why they hard issue with the New York attorney and I read that USDT is currently not allowed to trade within the NY region.
