161  Economy / Speculation / Re: 300k Bitcoins moved in one block on: December 22, 2014, 07:06:52 AM
^ For the idiots who might say it can be used for a short position... Please understand shorts must be bought back at a later time & this will cause an insane pop & short squeeze!!

Sell (short) half of the coins now at 330 causing a crash, buy the other half of the coins from yourself at a much lower price with the money from selling the first half (closing your shorts) and enjoy insane profits. Duh!

Although I highly doubt this will happen, but don't call people idiots if you yourself are one, because this can be in fact used to short without causing a short squeeze.

How is that more profitable than using margin to buy long positions at market price, get BTC to an insanely high number in which most shorts are going to get squeezed and closed out meaning it goes wayyy high and than buyers who feel they missed out jump on board...

or consider what you said, crash the price all the way down, everyone gets scarred shitless and sells, multiple exchanges close and everyone trys to close their accounts and withdraw at once... but hey you get to rebuy your worthless coins way down below? Now you have no upside because you literally destroyed the market you were hoping to catch upside in? "DUH!" Just the fact you said short HALF the coins tells me you don't trade and have no idea what margin is. Selling half short and buying half at a lower price is called a hedge... that would be considered a safe way to invest not make profits. Who is still in bitcoin to NOT profit? let's be serious... You have proven to leave this conversation as way more of an idiot than you were coming in!

This isn't the stock market, this isn't google, you make no sense, you have no idea how to trade, think before you type, goodnight.

Well given that this thread is about someone with a bunch of coins, how in the hell are they going to buy more coins WITH COINS and go margin long? This is someone with coins, the only way to profit with ONLY COINS would be to short! I didn't say this was a smart move, if you read, I said I doubt this would ever happen (due to liquidity). I just wanted to point out that you called people idiots in advance for thinking this could be used as a short, and you said some rubbish about why it couldn't , when it actually could. So calm down tard!

Oh wait I remember you, you started all those threads not knowing what market cap was and that money was flowing out of bitcoin! The last sentence you wrote reminded me of you, the one who argues with no valid points, calls people idiots when they were in fact correct, and you were wrong all along, and your best comeback was to tell them to go educate themselves when in fact you have the mind of 13 6 year old.
162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Idea: Bitcoin Denominations on: December 22, 2014, 06:53:57 AM
Bitcoin price fluctuates so much that I don't even look at denominations. When I am sending or spending coins on something usually it is priced in dollars, and has some widget that shows the current price in bitcoin as well. I usually just whip out my phone, open my blockchain app and scan the QR code, never looking or typing in some 8 digit number and trying to properly place the decimal. When I am sending money to friends I usually just type in 5 dollars, and whoosh, there goes 5 dollars in bitcoin straight to my friend. I am never like hey I am about to send you 500 millibits, because in 2 years 500 millibits might be 10,000 USD. So I am not going to get used to terms just yet.

If and when bitcoin becomes the main currency, the price will be so high that nobody will be sending anyone one whole bitcoin, and I'm sure by then we will have 100 ways to say denominations of bitcoin just like we do now with fiat money. By then, I bet 1 bit will be 1 satoshi, just like 1 penny is today, so 100 bits would be like saying 1 dollar and so on. So 600 bits for a starbucks coffee for example. Sending bits would be easy, thats just software, so my app would default to sending satoshis or bits, so I just type in 600 and whoosh, I just paid for my coffee.

As far as mining goes, thats way to much to change for such a small gain on the mining computations side. Its already configured properly to work down to the satoshi with no problem. The software on the user side would turn my 600 bits into .00000 whatever it is, to be properly processed by miners and the blockchain.
163  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are you more afraid of? on: December 22, 2014, 06:44:25 AM
I would rather have bought and lost, than to be on the outside looking in, at all the ones who made great profits.
164  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 22, 2014, 06:42:39 AM
This would be a great time for the ones who pumped ripple, to dump now, and get back into BTC at these prices.

Why is no one talking about this major pump!/?

And here I was about to open a massive leveraged short.

 Cheesy

That was close.

You are kidding right?

Nope.  I figured we were going to for another support test, could have make a quick 30BTC.

Still a possibility if we don't break 340 convincingly... but the way the fall stalled made me think a retest wasn't as likely as everyone thought. If everyone was thinking retest, who would be willing to sacrifice their coins to make it happen? We stayed above 300 long enough for me to realize nobody has the balls to sell this low.

Don't want to end the year lower than we started do we?
169  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unconfirmed transaction/hashrate decreasing! on: December 22, 2014, 05:56:55 AM
The decrease in hash rate has nothing to do with confirmation time. It is either bad luck currently on the block or improper fees when sending the transaction.
170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My bitcoin reward keeps decreasing!? on: December 22, 2014, 05:55:17 AM
More people mine = less coins per miner

Should have just bought coins and held on to them
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is BFL using BitPay for money laundering purposes good for advancing Bitcoin? on: December 22, 2014, 12:51:12 AM
Bitpay is a payment processor. Someone PAID BFL and bitpay PROCESSED the payment, in which BFL received cash (which was supposed to be used to make products, but thats not bitpays business).

Nothing to see here folks.
172  Economy / Economics / Re: Casascius coin market valuation on: December 22, 2014, 12:41:51 AM
I now regret selling most of mine for 1.5X... and the 80+ I had stolen  Angry

I think 2X is a fair price, I wouldn't pay any more than that, ever.
173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your coin count? on: December 22, 2014, 12:36:09 AM
Put it this way, I have more in coins than I do in fiat.

And I plan to keep it that way.
174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First general public bitcoin documentary in the making. on: December 22, 2014, 12:34:21 AM
Were all the other bitcoin documentaries not made by the general public or something?
175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you like to get paid in Bitcoin? on: December 22, 2014, 12:31:32 AM
I start my new job at a very large petrochemical company next month. Hopefully their payroll processor is able to do this for me. With the amount I'll be getting paid I am hoping to put 40% into coins automatically this way, and continue living like I this amount was taxed from my wages, to encourage me to hodl.

177  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: noob in bitcoin on: December 21, 2014, 05:57:56 AM
Learn from my mistakes. ONLY buy and hold. Join a sig campaign to get a few extra satoshis if you plan to visit the forum often and provide good information for other users.

178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have a done it right on: December 21, 2014, 05:54:26 AM
You most likely went from 3 coins to 2.9999 due to the fee of moving the coins to greenaddress. Most people do not need to use bitcoin core wallet because it has to download the entire blockchain before you see current balances etc. Wallets like multibit do not need to do this, nor does blockchain.info wallet
179  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase Buying Limits? on: December 21, 2014, 05:46:57 AM
This is why I never really used Coinbase, their structure is just.... weird.

My limit at circle is 2500 a week, 500 is instant I believe, and the rest is available as soon as the transfer actually clears my bank account. Which is usually a day or two.

For large purchases I use an actual exchange, one of which I have been verified at. It takes longer for my fiat to be transferred but when it clears I can purchase one big chunk of coins, and be able to use them instantly.
180  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin up 10% in 24hrs WHY? One word: RUSSIA on: December 20, 2014, 11:26:04 PM
I'm guessing we are up 10% because idiots sellers stopped selling so much.
