Up again. I suggest you close your positions, as BFX now is unreliable (DDOS, not DDOS, hardware errors, no idea), the idea is that it may go down any second now. It was UP DOWN multiple times in the last 2 hours.

I got burned as well for not being able to close a position.

Proceed at your own risk. I'll stay away... There are few things more aggravating than losing due to external factors, outside your control.

sigh, is there another site that offers margin trading?  besides btc.sx, where you ahve no idea what price they are going off of and how the spread works.

btc-e.com with metatrader

on
https://btc-e.com/news/183
it states
"after you open a trade, you will see the round turn commission charged "
that means the commission is due when a order is placed???

hy,
is it possible that on the bitfinex chart you display every trade (bitstamp and bitfines) but the order book is only bitfinet?
i just saw this:

Trade @ 1095 but Wall of 37.992 @ 1089

164  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 29, 2013, 12:17:41 PM
so its very calm on gox, china is awake, europe is awake, usa starting the day, any explanation for the boredom?
165  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: November 29, 2013, 12:15:48 AM
gosh! free coins on gox and my coins are locked in a stale finex box

If it were only that... open long position and chances that everything blows up (or down) due to low market depth  when BFX is getting online again...

right, fireworx on gox, margin call hiroshima on finex?
166  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: November 29, 2013, 12:06:59 AM

I feel like if bitcoin can't make a strong move to the upside, it will slowly meander down over a few weeks.  There's not as much buying pressure and a substantial amount more selling pressure than one week ago which is why the price has equalized for the short term.  If this increasing selling trend continues we could see substantially lower prices.

I agree totally.
My guts tell my that second scenario will be most likely.
I feel so weak  and sleepy  in such  a days

but sell of  or not  I will stick  to  my  coins

FACK. where do you think the bottom will be?
700 ?

Small fixes:
The margin-trade liquidation price has ** and p/l has *.  My guess is this indicates a footnote. It would be nice to get the footnote/explanation when I mouse
over the item. Use the title tag!

Or have a link to the more information. Otherwise they are random clutter.

The P/L value in My Active Positions updates at a different time than the value in Account Overview.

The Trading Balance number in "Your Balance" is inaccurate as it doesn't include trading losses.  The only thing it represents is the value of your original position which doesn't tell you anything about your leverage ratio, margin required, or actual position.

not quite either. as soon as you open a position some bucks are subtracted from "your balance". how much and why, couldnt quite figure out until now.
"liquidation price" is a riddle to me 2.

i dont believe in 10 year holding, i think the risk is great that bitcoin will be replaced by a more convenient cryptocurrency.
nowadays bitcoin is the big thing, cryptocurrency=bitcoin. maybe tomorrow cryptocurrency = whothefuckknowswhichcoin

today we can tell bitcoin rises
but we can also tell there are many alternatives already waiting

No one can get fiat in unless they are in one of the states where they are licensed as a money transmitter.
...or lives in the SEPA Zone. Roll Eyes A deposit is credited within hours, max. 1 day usually. Maybe you can fax checks in the US? Cheesy

not exactly, wire from one bank to another in sepa zone can take up to three days too, if it the transfer is inside one country, country to country transfers can take longer.
sepa transfers should be made on the next day, unless

-you wire close to, or at closing hours of the bank, then the bank is allowed to initiate the transfer only the next day, resulting in a 2 day transfer
-you wire friday night (or before a bank holiday), wire goes through monday or tuesday
-you wire with a bank that adds one or more "extra-day", thats not legal anymore, but a lot of banks do it.

btw sepa is nothing really new, everything works as before here in europe, sepa is just a harmonization done by the eu:

-every bank account in europe now has a "bic" and "iban" number, before that it was just any account number and any number to identifiy the bank and for that one had to give the bank name and the recipients full name and adress to allow proper identification of accounts; now its a fixed scheme: the iban number is the bank account number, it starts with a country identifier, i.e. DE..... for a german bank account, the bic number is the bank identifier and onlay needed if one transfers eu-nation to another eu-nation.
-costs of trans-europe transfer have a max now (which is MUCH lower, than what banks used to take). BUT there are SEPA countries, that are no EU-members and so they are not bound to the max cost-regulation, haha, Switzerland for example...
-there is a max duration for transfers now, but please show me one bank that was punished for not complying..
-some other things not directly related to wire transfers have been regulated, see http://www.europeanpaymentscouncil.eu/content.cfm?page=sepa_vision_and_goals (site run by some eu agency).

Dear Customers

as stated several times, our servers experience a growing traffic.
Several days ago we took the decision to migrate to a new network approach called clustering.
The whole setup took a while and during this time our traffic kept increasing exponentially.
Waiting for the market to stabilize before moving to the new system wouldn't make much sense as we don't know if the market will stabilize and when ( it might go like a yoyo for weeks ) and, as our traffic keeps increasing we need to take action.
Yesterday we had about 2 hours of maintenance during which we couldn't complete the migration.
Due to market instability we decided to resume trading, in order to avoid mayor losses.
Today we tried again and the downtime was longer, about 3 hours something if I'm correct (it seemed like a century to us ).
As the new system was experiencing some slowness, we decided to resume the old one and fine tune it a little more.
So here we are, tired and frustrated, but not tamed.
We now go to sleep (it's 1 a.m. EU time) and we will resume operations tomorrow.
Tomorrow we will probably experience some down time again (it is not certain but there is a possibility until the system has completely migrated).
My personal suggestion to all traders and to everyone that has a grain of salt in his head and is not completely blinded by greediness yet, is the following:

- As volatility is high and we might have some downtime do NOT take leveraged positions until the move has been completed.
The dangers in this moment outpace by far the rewards
Spend time with your family, go for a walk, do some sport or become an expert in long distance pumpkin seed spitting.

Not necessarily in this order.

We will probably have some downtime.
We will probably have some downtime.
We will probably have some downtime.

I hope this helps

We love you too, but sometimes you make it really hard
Wink

Have a good day

youre beeing funny, no announcements on the website, good i came by this thread ...
176  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitfinex questions on: November 21, 2013, 09:21:34 PM
one more thing i dont get:

when i close a long position i have two prices displayed in the history:

Trading fees for 2.0 BTC @ 714.78 on BFX (0.1%) on wallet trading
Position #... closed @ 703.43 on wallet trading

Position was opened @ USD 711 and closed @ 714,78

Why is 703,43 displayed? I am grateful for the fee beeing calculated on a lower price than the trade happened, but does this make sense???

hy!

got some thoughts on the new interface vs the old one (classic.bitfinex.com)

-all the elements that need to be clicked to slide open close again after a button is pressed and one has to constantly
re-open, i.e. options route to.. ; lending page loads, then one has to click click click just to see if funds are lent etc etc...

-interface doesnt work well on the android browser, scrolling on the page is messed up, everything is cluttered..

-you obviously use asynch jscript, so why has the page to refresh completely on so many actions?

-less information on the page, constant scrolling needed (gfx on top of the page - why?)

-whats the difference between "autolend" and "auto-renew"??
