161  Local / India / Re: How whales convert their crypto to INR! on: May 19, 2024, 04:17:53 AM
Hawala system, obviously illegal in India under PML Act but it runs well and speculations galore, it is commonly used by drug mafias, underworld bosses to run their money.

Whether they use bitcoin, possible but they dont likely use the exchanges that we use. OTC traders exist in different difficult to reach sections of the internet and they are helping such users.

Most of them have hired CAs that are well versed with all these "cat and mouse" chase methods.
162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shocking rate of women interested in gambling. on: May 19, 2024, 04:14:24 AM
Much of the women join in because of some sort of trauma and the games are a fun way to escape from that. Usually some sort of mental situation is there and correction or treatment of that is never done but people to side track it to other things in an attempt to solve it. The same mechanism is true for drug and alcohol addiction.

There are also many women who just visit casinos to pick up "jacks" or dates in better language so they can have some sugar daddies to pay for their bills. All these problems arise with lack of purpose and discipline in life as to what they want to be in future or poor life choices.

The casino industry found out long back that this could be monetized on and hence they run well.
163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are crash games profitable??? on: May 19, 2024, 04:04:46 AM
How can i depend of things controlled by the house, how do anyone think the house would let them get the upper hand they'll just manipulate your winning on first trial to lure you into staking more money and before you know it, you've lost it all. I'll rather gamble on sports betting that could give one 50-60% chances of winning if you got a good strategy and good knowledge about different teams.
The house does not manipulate the winnings. That would be a grave accusation to make. All the legit sites like Bustabit have a verification system to verify that your rolls were not rigged. Of course trains of green and trains of red outcomes are possible in crash games and nobody can do anything about it.

It is not uncommon to see a 1x Red train on bustabit happen every day at some unlucky hour. This is just math, no rigging is involved.

Indeed sports betting requires some skills but the small luck factor is still there. Just make sure to trust your skills and if you lose, just move on with it.
164  Economy / Economics / Re: How safe is it to keep your money and gold underground? on: May 19, 2024, 03:58:57 AM
I would rather keep the valuables in a bank rather than down in the ground. But I have seen similar practices among many older people, more in the rural compared to the urban public.

This is dangerous of course, because anybody getting a hint of the same can attempt to rob that money. Houses may break down in natural calamities and that would make the valuables almost unextractable.

Most of these can be avoided by using banks because they are available close nowadays which was not the case during the times of our grandparents.
165  Economy / Economics / Re: Hyperinflation - Will it lead Countries to Adopt Bitcoin? on: May 19, 2024, 03:54:26 AM
The question is whether the hyperinflation is caused by some correctable factors which bitcoin can help in or not?

Bitcoin will not always solve hyperinflation, the condition of El Salvador should not be used to draw conclusions, South American countries are well known with inflation, bad living conditions and poverty that have sustained due to corruption, governments and many more reasons.

If they do adopt bitcoin, they should have a roadmap of how to solve the problem using bitcoin, which most governments would fail at.
166  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is bitcoin mining just completely not profitable for retail? on: May 19, 2024, 03:47:21 AM
It more profitable to just buy bitcoin whenever the prices go down instead of buying ASICs to mine bitcoin. As you have correctly pointed out, the chance of getting the money back of what you put in to get the farm set up and the breaking even point are going to be far off. Till then you would have to sustain the costs and hope that additional costs dont come up.

If you observe the mining channels on youtube, they promote a certain altcoin for sometime and then move to another one. This is in sync with the coins that are having the best profit for that period. ASICs built for that algorithm might be a complete waste for you in case the price drops and you have just started mining it.
167  Economy / Economics / Re: Ever dreamt of turning your passion into profit? on: May 18, 2024, 10:30:01 AM
People often have hobbies that they are passionate about. Whet they dont have is the businessman mindset that allows them to monetize that hobby. A stamp collector might have many stamps but is unable to pitch them to other collectors to sell.

A game reviewer might be a great writer but does not want to make the blog to publish those reviews.

So the risk taking behavior needs to be there to start it off. Along with that if they are financially stable, there might be more chances that they can bring it fruition.

171  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Before Trading Bitcoin you should... on: May 17, 2024, 03:06:50 PM
I have read about people who invested their life savings into trading or crypto. Dont know how far these type of threads are true, but assuming they are, it is something I would never suggest anyone to.

Any investment is a risk-filled venture. There must be a good distribution of the risk, high risk assets in low number, low risk assets in high number to keep the total risk at a manageable level. Putting your life savings in one asset means putting a high risk asset in large number which is equivalent to suicide.

Another one is that job quitting to trade bitcoin, again a foolish thing to do because your job is a somewhat stable source of income. But trading is never so.
I think this type of narratives are more commonly done by people who are promoting exchanges and just want their cut as a referrer.
172  Economy / Economics / Re: Buying Vs Renting a Home- Which is the right move? on: May 17, 2024, 02:59:16 PM
This might be true in some places but not everywhere. To be able to keep that "home" word in your mind at ease, you need your own house and not a rented one. Someone might want to RV their life out there in the USA but in developing countries this is out of the question, you will get robbed in the middle of the night on the streets.

Figures might show a lot of things but reality comes out to be much different. Consider being in a rented apartment when the pandemic had hit, your tenants could easily have kicked you out.

Dont forget that your house is also the one your kids are going to inherit as property. They might need it in future to live or sell.
173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Concerns grow over online gambling among teens on: May 17, 2024, 02:55:55 PM
Keeps kids informed with the addictive nature of smoking, drugs and gambling is not a bad approach. Keeping it a part of the curriculum means at least some of the kids will read the stuff and learn something. Even then it is a personal choice to use these things. Signing up on gambling sites is no issue today and even underage kids can do that with access to internet.

Preventing such addictions start from the home, the kids need to be taught by their elders about the bad effects and shown examples of the same.
174  Economy / Economics / Re: Better Money: Gold, Fiat, Or Bitcoin? on: May 16, 2024, 04:15:10 PM
if we discuss the medium of exchange, then I think fiat is the most suitable medium of exchange used currently in real life. That's why almost all countries have their own fiat. However, if it is an investment then I choose gold and bitcoin. Even though Bitcoin can be used as an alternative payment, I think it would be a shame to use an asset that has the potential to be exchanged for something. well, it doesn't matter if you have a lot of bitcoins, but if I have fiat, I will use fiat as a means of payment.
Of course fiat is useable in any part of the world. But so is gold even though paying in gold is not something people around you would like without raising an eyebrow or two first, it would also be inconvenient considering the conversion to fiat factor. Again bitcoin is something that ends up in a grey area in many countries and you might find it difficult to pay with it directly without having used some giftcards and other stuff first.

When it comes to carrying, bitcoin is the easiest followed by fiat and then gold. When it comes to long term value bitcoin is followed by gold and then fiat.
175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An aggressive gambler irrelevantly easing his Irresponsible gambling manner. on: May 16, 2024, 04:10:38 PM
The rare few people who are able to stay calm in times of bad things, are the ones who if gambling would not get aggressive after losing a bet or watching their supporting team lose.  But this anger comes from the guilt and frustration of having lost money and that is again to be blamed on the gambler because it was their choice to gamble and this was the outcome.

To be very honest, such people should avoid chance based games. The people who are making money from games are also having different sources of income apart from gambling. Dont idolize them and try to be like them.
176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Is Legal In Our Country But if You Promote It Online You'll Go To Jail? on: May 16, 2024, 04:06:45 PM
...the government is just telling everyone to shut up and to not promote it,as for yourselves do what you fucking care.
Controlling the affiliate marketing is what controls majority of the new players into casinos. While there will always be bypassing methods, this type of moves make the country people a tad bit scared about what they are doing, it might make some of them change their habits till they find a rebuttal strong enough to mentally prepare them to promote it again.

Most of the stuff on the net has its links to the real world. Hence government will not find it tough tracking down who is running the affiliate site.
177  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 📝[Discussion topic] Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns📝 on: May 16, 2024, 03:34:18 PM
We know the truth, most people who visit the forum come here for the signature campaigns. You dont see people like me hang out for 8years straight and even post regularly when I am devoid of any campaign everyday, do you?

Still we must try to keep the forum active, of course that is not a responsibility but an act we can all work upon.

Merit distribution is one regular rant, I would agree. People tend to favour giving merits to those whom they have merited before and thus circles are formed. We all want to be part of such circles so we can get an impetus to be active but does anybody really care about that to change anything?
178  Local / India / Re: Binance Exchange is coming back to India. on: May 15, 2024, 04:50:10 PM
I have been telling everyone around here to stop using international exchanges like Binance and Kucoin if you don't want any legal issues. Whatever has happened behind the doors between the government and the exchange will not come out in public domain. We can only speculate what might happen in the future. We will need to wait till July to understand how much deep we are in the hole when the government comes out with the full budget.
I know it might not seem possible for my fellow countrymates here, but keep the fiat for the daily spending and keep the bitcoin in the wallets till things settle and just wait it out till the government gets their pants back on. Grin

The only question is how long one would have to keep their coins in limbo in a wallet before being able to spend, because many of you are freelancing on bitcoin payments. Embarrassed
179  Local / India / Re: ED seize and possess funds from scam is new and unexpected! on: May 15, 2024, 04:47:50 PM
Yes in a way this is a good initiative a there are lot of scams happening in India in tr me of crypto and though government is not crypto friendly still it has taken up measure to avoid people losing their hard earned money. But do you think this will lead to interfere more in crypto relate related affairs.
Most of these people will not be able to use crypto as a "safe haven" as they think of it to be. Because Satoshi did not have any criminal intention in their objective as far as we have understood, such attempts will eventually lead to authorities catching up and them going behind the bars.

Eventually you might see many of these past scams getting uncovered and people getting punished for the same. This is all part of the regulation that future crypto world will see, we will be old by then.
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you successfully influenced someone to invest in bitcoin ? on: May 15, 2024, 04:44:50 PM
Have you successfully influenced someone to invest in bitcoin ?  What was the final result, did they thank you later for this ?
Nope, I would never do that.

I would only teach someone about bitcoin if they are willing to learn about it and need a guide. Tell them the pros and cons specially our own country's stance towards it and the humungous taxation on crypto transaction but would never influence them to invest in crypto.

Because this goes against my own ideals. Someone's money is their responsibility, I would not take that responsibility and because bitcoin is unpredictable which I can handle but they might not be able to.
