Excitement is rising, only 4 more hours till phase 2. Get ready so you won't miss this round like me with the previous one.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EthOS on USB? Thoughts? on: May 29, 2017, 07:51:12 AM
I was using ethOs for a short period with USB drive. It wasn't a problem, surely slower than a SSD or even nice HDD, but not a problem.

Tried to get it working for a bit but didn't have luck. The USB wouldn't load the root file system quick enough or something and it would just drop to a shell, switch to HDD and it worked fine. I say just buy a cheap lot of used hdd or ssd drives and load it on to them.

@moxyf did you make you USB bootable, just extracting the files on the USB isn't enough.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for GPU rack on: May 29, 2017, 07:48:45 AM
What is an affordable rack to house my mining components? Most I see are rather expensive and could be built for much less.

The cheapest will always be DIY. I made mine out of wood so they cost next to nothing.

Though I just ordered a couple of these (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1921659.msg19063053) closed cases to see if they're worth it and how cooler it is - if at all - due to extra airflow compared to big open frames.

@bathrobehero have you received them yet? I am also looking for comparison between few open frame design rigs and a closed one, so would be grateful if you share some results. Cheers
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Data Center Mining Garage and Man Mining Cave ( PART 2 !!!!!!!!) on: May 26, 2017, 11:50:34 AM
WOW uray, nice job man! Sexy in its own way. What is the outside temperature in your area, is it gonna become hotter next months and what are your plans for additional cooling solutions? Are you gonna install AC or stick with more blowers? Cheers
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 560 4GB Ethereum on: May 26, 2017, 10:58:46 AM
560s are weak for mining. Wait a week or two and there should be new batch of cards in Europe.
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Crash Speculation - BTC, ETH, LTC, GNT, GNO price drop on: May 26, 2017, 08:15:58 AM
why are you all expecting big dumps? I guess you are waiting for a chance to pick cheap chips.

No one is a winner during big dumps. If you see the charts now, you'll realize. Almost every coin is down.

I'm just hoping that this isn't the start of THE crash.

There is nothing like THE crash. This is market just like the others and it is working just like the others - buying, selling, speculation. If there is demand the price will go up, if there is over supply the price will "crash" and there is nothing unusual about that.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ARK or ARDR ?! on: May 25, 2017, 01:37:44 PM
And I'm gonna say ARK Cheesy
@OP both are brilliant projects, you are gonna see different opinions based on people's understanding of what is a good idea and what is gonna deliver good results. So read more about the projects and decide for yourself or just divide your investment. Greetings
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: i want to Setup Mining Rig on: May 25, 2017, 10:34:06 AM
Mining rig for what coin? We can't tell you best GPUs or software without knowing what are you going to mine. Different algos, different speeds.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help me! fan temp too high! on: May 25, 2017, 10:32:29 AM
Stop the auto fan, and make your own custom fan settings with Afterburner or other software. Also the fan speeds you see in Claymore are not correct for RX cards.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Crash Speculation - BTC, ETH, LTC, GNT, GNO price drop on: May 25, 2017, 10:25:55 AM
My Speculation:
BTC - $1300-$1800
ETH - $40-80
LTC - $15-20
GNT - <0.15 cents
GNO - 40-60$
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best upcoming ICO of the 2017 on: May 25, 2017, 10:19:00 AM
My thoughts are SONM and Aeternity would have huge success this year. Great projects for sure and the hype is good so can't wait for the ICOs to start.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Alphabay will accept Zcash <<-- HUUUUGE PUMP coming :) on: May 25, 2017, 10:03:37 AM
If this news is real, then definitely pump is coming in the next weeks.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashrate RX 570 on: May 25, 2017, 06:21:51 AM
Sapphire RX570 Pulse 4GB:
Hynix - 29,3 ETH + 670-680 DCR
Elpida - 28,7 ETH + 650-655 DCR

What settings/clocks are you using on the Elpida cards please?

I flashed bios (only memory straps from 1500 to 2000).
Core 1100
Memory 2000, because my asic quality on the card with Elpida is low. If you have asic quality over 72-3% you can go with 2050 on memory, but this will depend also from your voltage.
Asic quality has nothing to do with memory.
Have you increased voltage to your mem at all? I just think the cards are better cooled than mine. My cheapo Asus Expedition OC are running pretty hot and I think it affects memory stability a lot. Couldn't dual-mine ETH+SIA at 1266/1925 MHz. Had to lower both sets of clocks. Mining speed would go tits up and Claymore would crap out within less than a minute running otherwise.

Of course asic quality has to do with memory. Try increasing your memory on same levels on cards with different asic quality and on stock voltage and you will see it.
Correlation <> Causation.
ASIC is measured by overall quality of the silicon wafer, and GPU location within that wafer (quality tends to improve towards the centre of the wafer). You can still get defects (areas of lower quality) within even the best wafers. Memory has nothing to do with the GPU's silicon wafer.

I haven't increased voltage at all, I am running on stock voltages.
How hot does your cards get and have you set custom fan setting in AB, it will chop few degrees off.

It's hot here currently, cards are between 69C and 81C (1075/1900, fans@54-65%). Can't use AB, it crashes Windows after applying o/c to the 7th card so I flashed the clock speeds.

1.The connection between asic quality and memory clock I refer is different. The lower the ASIC quality is, the higher the voltage leakage is. So with low asic you can not make clocks as high as with gpu with high asic without modifying the voltage.

2.Stupid windows problems... Have you tried only modifying 6 cards with AB and use Radeon Setting only for the 7th.

175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What's going on with Zcash? on: May 23, 2017, 01:21:44 PM
It's the hype around JPM what pumped up the price. When we saw Zcash for first time the question was who wants to use such a currency that had the option to function as a true digital equivalent of cash leaving no traces. And except us (nerds, ITs, computer enthusiast, speculators, etc.) the banks may also have interest doing this. And here comes JPM with there Ethereum build Quorum platform who wants to implement Zcash in. Nobody says JPM is going to use ZEC as payment method, but their going to use its technology which is a great proof that Zcash is awesome technology. Not to leave the fact that ZEC also entered in Enterprise Ethereum Alliance which is without a doubt good reason for the price increase too.

Try when in bios selecting pci-e setting to Gen 1.

Impressive peace of art  Cheesy

Glad to see trading volume of over $3mln today. ICN is skyrocketing and we are still in the beginning of its way becoming one of the top crypto projects. Good luck to the team and congrats for all the supporters who saw the potential of such a project and believed in it till now. Cheers
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: the next $billion dollars coin on: May 23, 2017, 10:09:50 AM
i think the next billion dollar coins are monero and waves

what is your next billion dollar coin/s?

zcash have a reason to be the next big thing, also lbry both are very undervalued imho, monero is a good target but zcash is currently pumped like nothing else, if they can do another 2x pump it can touch 1 billion marketcap

Zcash is going to be big, that is for sure, but they won't be the only ones multiplying their market cap. There are a lot of good coins and projects these days from among all the shitty scam coins. Look for Iconomi, Monero, Waves, and Ethereum is still going crazy. I believe at the end of this year we are going to see 1 billion market cap only to enter top 10.

I am about to get Asus RX570 Gaming (not OC version)

My other option is Sapphire RX 570 Pulse ITX.

Can I achieve 25-26 with them?

I kinda prefer less heat and noise and I do not want to OC this or any other GPU I will get.

Also I am planning to use 6 of them on Corsair HX1000i PSU. I have seen builts with 6 of RX570 around 850Watt.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Sapphire RX 570 Pulse ITX on stock settings was about 24,5

Nice stock values actually. Can I run 6 of Sapphire ITX with Corsair HX1000i?

I am actually more inclined to get dual fan models for better heat and noise management as well as better resale value.

570s are more power consuming than 4xx especially on stock values. I believe you won't have any problems running 6 Sapphires mining solo ETH, but I really DO NOT recommend you this. Don't load your PSU over 85%.
