As for the use of bitcoin for criminal purposes then I can assure you it is not. All users of bitcoin in order to buy something often exchange it for Fiat. In fact, illegal transactions take place behind Fiat.
Somehow, somewhere, someone...gets Your CC/CVV. They then sell that information for BTC, and exchange BTC into fiat. A buyer will then use the information to obtain BTC, and then sell it for fiat. BTC is the main in between medium. Or you have a drug seller, the buyer will obtain BTC, buy the drug using BTC...etc again BTC is the medium of exchange, keeping up the demand, adding to its value? I am surprised more online banking/credit cards are not stolen. |

Bitcoin is more secure than cash. You can't just up and mug someone to steal their Bitcoin, because you still need their password, 2FA, and private keys.

If you have 50 ethereum in your wallet and if you bought 260 dollars each. You cant lose money why? Because the price of ethereum as of now is 300 dollars and you earn profit not lose your money. I suggest hold your ethereum because for sure it will increase again the price. Or you can join to the ICO have ethereum investment and for sure it will grow but be careful while investing in ICO.
You are missing the point ETH may be at 300 dollars, but the price in dollars is not important because it is very likely that he bought that ETH with BTC and ETH has been crashing in terms of bitcoin since bitcoin outpaced ETH growth after the hard fork so if the op converts to BTC now he will lose a lot of money in terms of BTC, he needs to hold in the hope ETH goes up once again, that may be possible but it is going to take a lot of time. +1 I think Ethereum has greater potential than Bitcoin at the moment. Retailers do technically accept Bitcoin, if you use a Bitpay credit card that is. You can load up your account with Bitcoin and spend it anywhere that accepts credit cards.

I would not travel to Venezuela currently with all of the violence if you go to a poor area (which is most areas). I also would not go to any country where there is a war, as there will be too much chaos.

I can't tell you how many times I have thought about investing in Bitcoin ATMs. It would be cool to have a bunch of them around my city and make passive Bitcoin from it.

Situations where Bitcoin dies/becomes useless:
1. Governments across the globe ban it for some reason, and block Bitcoin-related websites.
2. The masses do not embrace it (in this case it would eventually fail).
3. Fall of the internet. If the internet goes down or becomes less popular then Bitcoin could fail to gain the traction it needs to reach critical mass (the point where it officially becomes "a thing", which we have not yet reached).

Bitcoin was first used as a tool for criminals to transact with relative anonymity (especially at the beginning when 99.9% of police departments did not understand the blockchain). Everyone knows this. It still happens to this day though, unfortunately.
