1601  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: C R Y P T O S T A M P with BITCOIN (solutions? thoughts & questions) - HELP! on: August 06, 2019, 08:06:54 AM
Ok, in technical terms, this would be more complicated than with ETH... and probably more expensive.

No, it should be easier. You won't have to bother with creating your own token. You will just have to send quite a few transactions to addresses you generate. Each transaction might cost you 226 satoshi depending on the type of addresses you use and the fee rate (1 sat/byte assumption here). It will be much cheaper if you fund all stamps in one transaction.

I was looking for a cheap solutions, but I afraid if I use 1 satoshi per byte, I am not sure, that the TX goes through... right?

It will go through. Take a look at the ecommended fee at this website. The fees have been really low for a long time now. 1 sat/byte transactions usually confirm within 24 hours if there is a sudden spike.
1602  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: C R Y P T O S T A M P with BITCOIN (solutions? thoughts & questions) - HELP! on: August 06, 2019, 07:43:47 AM
Is there an option to get cheaper TX fees by using the lightning network?

The Lightning Network won't be useful in this case. It is supposed to be used mostly for micro-transactions, but it also requires a specific setup to work. If you want to 'fund a stamp' with some coins then sending an on-chain transaction with the lowest possible fee (1 sat/byte) is the only reasonable choice right now.
1603  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: passphrases in electrum wallet on: August 06, 2019, 07:38:11 AM
I dowloaded electrum and can get the wallet with no passphrase to work but the two with passphrases set up on the trezor dafault wallet show this error - Failed to decrypt this hardware device. If you used a passphrase, make sure its correct.

How did you set up the other two accounts? You should create two separate Electrum wallets for them. Plug-in your Trezor and create a new wallet by selecting 'Use a hardware device'. You should be prompted to enter a passphrase if the plugged in device has this feature turned on. You will have to switch between wallets if you need to use a specific account, so name them properly.
1604  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: August 06, 2019, 07:08:47 AM
I see, so every node have standard limits to start or it depends the money owners put in?

No, there isn't a minimum amount of coins needed to start a node. You can run a Lightning Network node without any channels (no coins used) as long as you have available resources on your server. The Lightning Network node without any channels doesn't do anything at all. The node has its own on-chain address from which coins are taken when one wants to fund a channel. One can't open a big Lightning Network channel and split it later into smaller ones.
1605  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 3.3.4 on: August 05, 2019, 09:19:57 PM
I just want to confirm... when i open electrum, there should be no update message of any sort... unless if i were to send btc then maybe i get that phising message right... can anyone here confirm this?

Versions older than 3.3.4 are vulnerable to the phising method you mentioned, so you should be safe. You might get a notification about the update if you enabled it in the settings earlier. Update Electrum by downloading it manually from the official website. Don't forget to verify the signature.
1606  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: August 05, 2019, 07:43:51 PM
Ok and how can that guys coinplaza or bitrefill have so much inbound, need to run a node?

They run their own Lightning Network nodes and open new channels to people who want to rent inbound capacity from them. For example, Bitrefill charges 0.00005700 BTC for a 0.005 BTC channel. That's how they profit from locking up their coins for some time. Note that they also need to have inbound capacity if they want to route payments properly.
1607  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: When will they fix Ledger Nano S firmware? on: August 05, 2019, 04:33:38 PM
What is a better alternative for a hardware wallet company that is not out the just for a quick buck / to rip us off?

The only company that comes to my mind is Trezor. It's fairly easy to get in touch with the founders. They usually reply to messages in the official Telegram channel. They promised to port Trezor T software to Trezor One and they are working on it. Note that Trezor devices are completely different. They don't support as many altcoins as Ledger devices do. They don't use Secure Element, but both hardware and software are completely open-source. Thanks to that, someone even created a hardware wallet which is basically a Trezor One in a different chassis.
1608  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Elextrum Hacked? on: August 05, 2019, 11:01:25 AM
i use now 3.3.6   i did use an older one.

That's weird because the latest version is 3.3.8. I would suggest you uninstalling this version and downloading the latest one from the official website just to be sure.

And when i send the bitcoins to an adress i noticed that everything was filled in correctly.

Does your outgoing transaction appear as unconfirmed in the History tab? Can you check if the destination address is the same as it should be?
1609  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Elextrum Hacked? on: August 05, 2019, 10:35:11 AM
I have updated elctrum (was a pop up within electrum its elf, to upgrade...i did that...and then i transfer money, for bitcoins, from my bank to the Electrum wallet.
I recieved the bitcoins...then i want to send my bitcoins to Exodus...I did fill in the recieve adres   but the bitcoins are not delevired!  am i being hacked?

What version of Electrum do you have right now? Old versions did not notify users of available updates. They are also vulnerable to a phising attack which tricks user to download a fake version of Electrum. Are there any entries in the History tab? Was the transaction to Exodus sent without any errors?
1610  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: August 05, 2019, 10:19:20 AM
Hi, i was reading your FAQ and i see that two contradictory sentences, please review that.

Thanks for drawing my attention to these questions. I will rephrase the answers in a moment. LND is the only implementation that supports neutrino, so you have to run a full node on the others.

i thought all the channels was dual funded, that way i can run a node without putting any money IN and dont risk to loose money, is that right?

As long as you don't have any coins on your side, yes. However, you won't be able to send transactions over the Lightning Network in such a case.
1611  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: missing funds on: August 05, 2019, 08:51:49 AM
You should never have done this. In case your computer is compromised anyone who opens that notepad file has access to your funds.
-snip

Take a look at his post again. He claims that he has written down his mnemonic phrase on a paper notepad. If that's the case then either someone managed to find it and stole the coins or his computer was infected with malware from the very beginning. We still don't know what version of Electrum he has and where he downloaded it from.
1612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is the difference between Segwit? Native Segwit? Legacy? Which one better? on: August 05, 2019, 08:38:31 AM
Now, the point is: if I wanted my amount of btc stored in the latest format (bech32 - Native Segwit) and given that BitStamp does not provide this kind of transfer, what can I do?
-snip

There is a much easier way. You can send all of your funds from BitStamp to your nested SegWit address. Generate a native SegWit address in the Ledger Live and transfer your coins there from your nested SegWit address. You don't have to move them to BitStamp again. While transfering coins between your addresses, you can set a low fee (1 sat/byte).
1613  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: When will they fix Ledger Nano S firmware? on: August 05, 2019, 07:20:30 AM
How is the ledger blue compared to the nano ledger s?

Ledger Blue is terrible. Ledger barely supports it and you can't even buy it from the official website anymore. I have already explained why it is bad in this post.

I mean unless you don't want to delete an app and install it every single time you use it, then get a ledger blue?

As far as I remember, Ledger Blue has slightly more memory, but it supports less coins. If you don't want to bother with reinstalling apps and want to have a functioning Bluetooth then Nano X is a better choice.
1614  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: August 05, 2019, 06:51:05 AM
I installed Eclair Mobile and to receive LN it says i cant stay 2 weeks without connecting the phone to internet, what happens if i stay more than 2 weeks disconnected, i can lost LN funds?

If the other party forcefully closes the channel with an old state while you are offline, the closing transaction will be able to be confirmed after 2 weeks. You have 2 weeks to come back online. If you manage to do it, Eclair Mobile will publish a penalty transaction for you. Note that it will only happen if the other party has a malicious intent. I have never experienced it despite having many opened channels.

However, if you were to close the channel, you would have to wait only 720 blocks (~5 days). These are the default values negotiated by Eclair Mobile before the channel is funded.
1615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [AUG 2019] Fees are low, use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: August 04, 2019, 07:19:55 PM
They have stated "not yet supported" but I am not sure for how long that statement  have been on their wiki page.

At least a year and a half judging by this Github issue.

What about Ledger or KeepKey?

KeepKey is far behind Trezor and Ledger, so you can guess what the answer is. It looks like Ledger does not support it either, but you can see such an option on one of the preview images. The only way is to pair all of these hardware wallets with Electrum. What a shame.
1616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [AUG 2019] Fees are low, use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: August 04, 2019, 05:45:03 PM
Doesn't core automatically expire transactions after 7 days or sonething (or it used to)?

Bitcoin Core nodes used to drop transactions after 72 hours, but it has been extended to 2 weeks. Keep in mind that these are the default values and some nodes might keep transactions for a longer or shorter periods of time. -zapwallettxes parameter can be used to forget the unconfirmed transaction locally which allows you to create a new one. Technically, transactions never expire once you sign them. They become invalid once you spend previously signed inputs.

On online trezor are they marked rbf by default, if not we should suggest that?

Unfortunately, they are not. I am sure that Trezor team is well aware of this since there is a wiki entry about it.
1617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [AUG 2019] Fees are low, use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: August 04, 2019, 05:12:46 PM
How about Electrum?

Electrum does not rebroadcast transactions automatically. Nodes will keep the transaction for a couple of days and eventually drop it. All transactions are now marked as replacable by default if you use Electrum 3.1 or newer.

1619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is the difference between Segwit? Native Segwit? Legacy? Which one better? on: August 04, 2019, 01:34:13 PM
so, Nested Segwit is synonymous to Segwit, not Native Segwit..
and Native Segwit is synonymous to Bech32, right?

SegWit is a protocol upgrade. Nested SegWit is a type of address which starts from 3 and offers full compatibility while providing some benefits of the native SegWit. Native SegWit is also referred to as the bech32 address (it starts from bc1).

but on this wiki it reports BitStamp as not yet adopting bech32 ..  Huh

Oh, you're right. It's weird that they don't allow sending to bech32 addresses while generating nested SegWit ones. Choose a nested SegWit address then. It should start with 3 and it will be completely compatible with all services. I am sorry for confusing you.
1620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is the difference between Segwit? Native Segwit? Legacy? Which one better? on: August 04, 2019, 01:12:16 PM
what the heck do I choose??  Grin  Huh

Since BitStamp supports SegWit, I would recommend you choosing a native SegWit address in the Ledger Live. Nested SegWit ensures 100% compatibility with services which don't support SegWit yet, but you will save a bit less on fees in the future if you choose it.
