1621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is StrongCoin's 'hybrid wallet' a lie? (Or rather, are ALL hybrid wallet a lie?) on: April 25, 2013, 09:56:13 PM
All well and good sir gmaxwell, If I may suggest the issues is the ability to redirect funds in this way makes StongCoin and Blockchain.info fundamentally compromised

I believe that blockchain works in a different way then strongcoin.

If you use the browser extension I believe you are relatively safe from arbitrary code changes like the one we witnessed at StrongCoin.

Next step in security is probably to have an hardware wallet with the private key that can sign the transaction without ever letting the computer see the private key.
1622  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can you short bitcoins yet? on: April 25, 2013, 09:29:21 PM
Well, you can hold USDs if you don't want to short but still think the BTC's value is going to go down.
1623  Economy / Speculation / Re: Arepo's Detailed Price Analysis and Projections on: April 25, 2013, 09:11:58 PM
Interesting, where do you short BTCs? And what are the fees?
1624  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: April 25, 2013, 08:59:48 PM
I have buy orders all the way down from $70 to $30. But I think that anything below $50 is highly unlikely. We already had HUGE selloffs after the crash, there's no so many coins to dump left.

Sounds like a challenge!
1625  Economy / Speculation / Re: Arepo's Detailed Price Analysis and Projections on: April 25, 2013, 08:56:54 PM
All hail Bitcoin!

It took 2 crashes, but now I understand when one should just stay put on the sideline.

I'm happy I learned.  Grin
1626  Economy / Speculation / Re: And..... CRASH! on: April 25, 2013, 08:51:02 PM
We do understand it's bad for Bitcoin.

However, it's better to have a 50% drop now than a 90% drop in 6 months.
1627  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: April 25, 2013, 08:44:28 PM
Might be more than $2M... let's wait a little  Wink
1628  Economy / Speculation / Re: Arepo's Detailed Price Analysis and Projections on: April 25, 2013, 08:41:56 PM
1min chart? Isn't that a little too noisy? Unless you like to trade often...  Wink
1629  Economy / Speculation / Re: Arepo's Detailed Price Analysis and Projections on: April 25, 2013, 08:36:16 PM
Traders gonna trade.

Now I'm waiting for the inevitable rebound and re-crash.
1630  Economy / Speculation / Re: And..... CRASH! on: April 25, 2013, 08:33:25 PM
120 wall too big?

I don't think so.
1631  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst :) on: April 25, 2013, 08:29:35 PM
MtGox is making soooo much money right now  Wink
1632  Economy / Speculation / Re: Arepo's Detailed Price Analysis and Projections on: April 25, 2013, 08:26:56 PM
Well, I guess nobody wants bitcoins after all -- we're all just in it for the USD  Tongue

Oh I want bitcoins. But I can have moarrrr if I wait!
1633  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: April 25, 2013, 08:25:16 PM
But will $120 hold?
1634  Economy / Speculation / Re: And..... CRASH! on: April 25, 2013, 08:06:36 PM
Someones bot got a glitch and spams GOX with thousands of 0.00001 buy/sell's. Pathetic attempt to DDOS  Grin

That's not the same thing as a DDOS.
1635  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: April 25, 2013, 08:00:12 PM

lmao at the botwars

Countdown?
1636  Economy / Speculation / Re: Arepo's Detailed Price Analysis and Projections on: April 25, 2013, 03:32:52 AM
I'm watching. That would be a nice timing for a DDOS.  Lips sealed
1637  Economy / Speculation / Re: Panic time? on: April 24, 2013, 05:46:34 PM
My logic was good!

It's my timing that was beyond bad...
1638  Economy / Speculation / Re: Panic time? on: April 24, 2013, 05:42:25 PM
But if I sell now, I can buy cheaper later!

*This logic made me sell at $56...
1639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is StrongCoin's 'hybrid wallet' a lie? (Or rather, are ALL hybrid wallet a lie?) on: April 24, 2013, 06:45:02 AM
Code:
Inaction (1)

Actions -------> Help the thief (2)
        -------> Help the victim (3)

To show how inaction is different from action:
1. You know there's children dying of hunger in Africa.
2. You have disposable income.
3. You don't prevent these deaths.
Ergo, you should be thrown in jail for murder?

So in the StrongCoin case, I agree that once he decided to act, he should have helped the victim, as he did.

I'm simply not as fast as you jumping to the conclusion that it was the "evident" solution.
1640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is StrongCoin's 'hybrid wallet' a lie? (Or rather, are ALL hybrid wallet a lie?) on: April 24, 2013, 06:04:37 AM
If there's a false dichotomy, it's on your side... I added the 3rd choice, while you listed only 2.

The question here isn't, contrary to what you say, a question about power.
The question is a consequence of the said power.
