1621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1070 G1 try to get 430-460 Sol/s on: November 14, 2017, 10:32:59 PM

around 74 degrees when i mine ETH and yes fan works i think it might be the location where they are because it is getting hot in here.

That can have quite a bit of effect on card temps.

Also, how much SPACE do you have between the cards - if it is less than 1 inch it isn't NEARLY enough for proper cooling, really need 2-3 inches for good cooling.

You still haven't mentioned what you have your fans SET at - if you are using the "standard factory" settings, that IS your issue and you need to bump your fan speeds up.
1622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1070 G1 try to get 430-460 Sol/s on: November 14, 2017, 10:31:25 PM

GTX 1070 has TDP is 150W

 That varies.
Many are 151 watts (not 150), like the FE and Gigabyte "ITX" and MSI "Aero mini" and EVGA SC (specific examples I have), some are 180 like the Gigabtye Windforce (both 2 AND 3 fan models), at least one MSI model is 240.

"Optimal settings" also vary as the DEFAULT clock on cards varies widely, the default MEMORY clock varies some, and various brands of memory tend to have differing ability to overclock.
"Optimal settings" should be specified as being for a specific card model - and there is enough variation even THERE that sometimes the optimal settings for ONE specific card will be "can't handle this, crashing all the time" on another card of the SAME model.

"Simple Mining" is a LINUX based distribution, Linux controls for TDP for NVidia are in watts not a percentage - which IMO is a LOT more sensible.

1623  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Anyone use Hughesnet for mining internet connection? on: November 14, 2017, 10:21:00 PM
The latency is UNAVOIDABLE due to the distance from geosynch where the sat is at to ground.

It has nothing to do with the hardware, it has to do with the speed of light taking time to get the signal from you TO the sat, back to ground, to the server, back FROM the server, back TO the sat, back to you - even if you were on the equator directly under the sat the "speed of light latency" would be a hair less than 500 ms JUST for signal transit time, it gets longer as you move away from "directly under the sat" because the distance gets longer - THEN you get to add "normal Internet Lag" on top of that.

1624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: November 14, 2017, 07:32:09 AM

I know my GPU is kinda old...but why would it crash

Your GPU may not support a recent-enough CUDA compute version to work with EWBF.

i have some GTX 1070's
running on ewbf-0.3.4b / simple mining / linux

i put OC

Core Empty, Memory +500, Power limit : 120 watt

i get 420 Sol/s but my GTX 1070's are getting very very hot about 80 C

You appear to have some sort of cooling issues, or the room that miner is in gets VERY hot - or you have the fan settings WAY too low.
1626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining farms for heating houses? on: November 14, 2017, 05:39:49 AM

Nice idea, i saw one project that was made of 7 AMD GPU's connected with the sunlight water collectors system - guy managed to heat water in 300L water tank to near of 65C' then transfered the water to usage water in his house what caused lowering cost of heating the water ex. for bath - 65 C' is actually very comfortable temp for home usage.

Regards

65C is 149 F - which is too high to be safe for home water heating, definite scalding risk.
Sure they didn't have it at 55C? 131F would be a little on the high side but in the "normal" range for hot water temperature the outlet of a water heater.

Also, what did he do when he DIDN'T need the hot water running?
Or was it setup as a "recirculation" system through the GPUs and the solar heating array?
1627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: gpu bubble well and truly bursting on: November 14, 2017, 05:30:26 AM
give  btc-gold a big run  and   gpus will sell out again.

I think a lot of people are hoping (counting) on that to happen. Mining is still profitable but it getting tighter every day.

GPUs are also still selling at premium prices. NewEgg has a MSI RX580 4GB Gaming on sale for $239, which is still about $50 higher than it was when it was introduced.

Need a few more months of quiet before GPU prices return to normal levels, so if BTC Gold shakes things up, I agree that prices will skyrocket again.

They're $269 now.

When I started in march, I only bought 4gb gaming X cards. The cheapest I ever got them was $219 each when I bought 5 at a time through jet...

Newegg has some of the 570 cards down to as low as $229 (though I think that one was a refurb) and quite a few at $249 today.

STILL not down to pre-shortage levels but getting closer.
1628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Gold & GPU Mining? on: November 14, 2017, 05:29:12 AM
EWBF’s NVidia CUDA Zcash miner what kind of gfx card is this supposed to be?

Is this just a nvidia 1070 / 1080? or some exclusive Gfx card?

EWBF works with any NVidia 10xx series card and I believe also works with all the 9xx series cards and the 750 ti (Pascal and Maxwell generations).

CUDA has been supported by ALL Nvidia cards (in some form) for quite a few years now.

1629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070 Ti benchmarked in Eth & Zec on: November 14, 2017, 05:26:57 AM
Odd thing - the Nvidia LINUX driver most recent version that supports the GTX 1070 ti is 384.something.

Gotta wonder if they were DELIBERATELY aiming this card at least in part at miners since the Windows version took so much longer to get support into it (388.13 is the FIRST for Windows with 1070 ti support).

1630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problem : Overclock GTX 1070 to 32 mh or more on: November 14, 2017, 05:16:47 AM

Yes of course i will switch to Zcash but as i understand if i find the good overclock for mining ethereum it will be the same overclock for having the best mining OC in Zcash ( maybe i am wrong please tell me )

ETH is very memory intensive - you DON'T want the same overclocks on ETH as on ZEC on most cards for best efficiency and hashrate.

Also, part of your heat issue is that you're pushing the cards to WELL over their design TDP specification - on the other hand 70-75C isn't an issue for modern video cards and most of them are fairly comfortable at 80C (though that likely DOES reduce their lifespan a little).

1631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: November 14, 2017, 05:11:31 AM
Has anyone heard of any AMD AM4 socket motherboards being designed that support 8 or more GPUs without risers?  Considering how good Ryzen is at mining while maintaining decent power and temps, I'd vastly prefer to get an AM4 motherboard with support for 8 riser free GPUs if anyone would manufacture them.

Unlikely for the near future, as Ryzen CPUs don't support very many PCI-E lanes and the CPUs themselves are still pretty expen$ive.
1632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problem : Overclock GTX 1070 to 32 mh or more on: November 12, 2017, 09:07:52 PM
Yes I do suggest you switch to Zcash as Nvidias are more Equihash friendly cards so you can make more btc per day with mining Equihash algorithm compared to Ethereum at which Nvidias do not excel.

Zcash isn't impacted a lot by the memory clock so you can keep it to plus 500 and keep the core clock +200.

If energy price is a problem for you turn power limit to 70% or 125 watt or if energy price is no problem leave it unchanged at 150 watt.

70% TDP on most GTX 1070 models is either 106 watts (151 "default" watt TDP cards like the Gigabyte ITX, MSI Aero, EVGA SC, Zotac Mini) or 136 watts (180 watt "default" TDP cards like the Gigabyte Windforce 3-fan).

1633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problem : Overclock GTX 1070 to 32 mh or more on: November 12, 2017, 09:03:59 PM
Hello all,

i have a RIG of 13 GPU of GTX 1070.
i use Simple Mining software.

i dont find a good config of Overclock i am actually at 27 mh in default and i want to go to 32 mh or more in OVERCLOCK.
and of course it need to be stable.

so if you know what CORE CLOCK and MEMORY CLOCK and POWER LIMIT it will be great.

Why are you insisting on mining ETH on a GTX 1070?

They do a LOT better (and soak a bit less power usally) mining other stuff.

https://whattomine.com

 select for a single 1070

Watch ETH show up NOT as a Top 5 option for that card.

1634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which is the best PSU for mining? on: November 12, 2017, 09:02:11 PM
If you like ATX PSUs I would recomend SuperFlower Leadex PSUs. They have really great connection cables and count of the cables of single PSU (from 1200W) is enough for connection up to 8GPUs

And if you can't find those specifically, the EVGA G2 used that SAME platform - and showed up at up to 1600 watt rating.

1635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining farms for heating houses? on: November 12, 2017, 08:59:59 PM
Even the last couple years I was in Iowa, which has actual COLD winters (PNW has very mild winters), I had to keep at least 2 windows open partway with fans running in the intake window to avoid OVERHEATING my home.

1636  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cheap electricity for mining Bitcoin on: November 12, 2017, 08:55:44 PM
For mining bitcoin cost of electricity is 0.10$ per kwh is best

10 cent per watt electric is VERY MARGINAL at best for mining Bitcoin.
You want to get a LOT lower than that if you want to be profitable for the long term - definitely 5 or less, and optimally 3 or less.

1637  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can I mine in a warehouse and control it + receive money from my home. on: November 12, 2017, 08:52:10 PM
Best way to monitor your rigs would be to set up a VPN between your warehouse and your home.

1638  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Dust covers on miners? on: November 12, 2017, 08:49:45 PM
I have a few Antminers with 120mm fan intakes - has anyone added 120mm dust covers to them?

Any pro/con (apart from obvuisly less dust going into them)?

I tried that on my S5 units. ONCE.

The temp of the miner went up a LOT due to the flow restriction the filters put on the fans.

1639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: November 12, 2017, 08:43:29 PM
Anyone has any idea the expected hashrate for Vega 56, rx 570 and 1070?

Mine is only 420 for vega 56, 450 for 1070 and 270 for rx 570. Is this right?

450 is reasonable for a GTX 1070 at a fairly high TDP.
Not sure on the 570, my 470 models that's about where they end up at so should be about right.

1640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: November 12, 2017, 08:41:47 PM

Ok ok ok I see. Had a hard time figuring out the specs, as they're not very clearly listed (well they are, but not clear enough for me Tongue). Thanks for the offer, but I've got some spare EVGA periph/molex cables from my other EVGA PSUs. Should work out fine.

G2 cables exchange across all models *EXCEPT* the G2L stuff.

Not sure otherwise, as all of my EVGA supplies are G2 models.
