1621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: they change the way we handle money and own things ? on: April 15, 2023, 08:11:29 AM
as decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and non fungible tokens (NFTs) become more popular, will they change the way we handle money and own things,

or will they only be used by a small group of people(like now being used) ?
Idk about how NFT's can be used in the future, but thinking of its original purpose, I don't think it's fulfilling any of it. It may change the idea of how people handle transactions online, but I hardly think it would change how "money" would be handled.

DeFi can be said to have changed the way already, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it will be a popular method in itself. Not really sure how the growth of it's scene has went since I never really bothered looking them up, but seeing as I'm in the crypto scene and I have no info about it, safe to say that it wouldn't grow past to actually see notable changes in the way money is handled. It's there, but it wouldn't go past a certain point of influence.
1622  Economy / Economics / Re: How do feels losing money? on: April 15, 2023, 05:14:34 AM
Some days looks like a curse day, I wanted to keep it to myself but I felt it more reasonable to share. I involved in some business investment which initially the promise was really good after week of deal, I just back from work, I saw a call from my colleague we did the business together and I call back to hear him crying on phone. That the business we involved into is fake and the office is close, the MD has disappeared, for two minutes I was shivering with sweat because that's the highest amount I have involved business so far. Am regretting to have used in bitcoin by now I would have be on advantage with bullish price.

I have not gotten myself this days. Do you feel down when such sudden hits happens to you?
I don't think anyone would not feel down when met with such circumstances. It's also why it's advised to only invest what you can actually afford to lose. It's usually hard at the start, especially if you consider it's the first time you lost money due to someone else scamming you, but as you invest more, regardless of the reason for the investment dropping out (being scammed/business just fell down due to being bad), you'd be able to get over it faster. The feeling of being down is still there (and would always be there imo), but you'd be able to recover faster and would instead start planning more ahead and looking at what mistakes you made so that you don't do them again.

Well that's in cases where you have a strong mind though, if you don't, I'd honestly take a break for a month maybe and clear your mind.
1623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 10k investment on: April 15, 2023, 03:00:53 AM
It's a pretty long time so I reckon you can diversify both. If you can add more, try Bitcoin especially if you consider the current time frame. XRP is down pretty badly compared to 3 years ago and is down by around 30% compared to last year, but looking at it from another angle, it's also a buy period since it isn't at it's peak.  Idk about ADA though, but as I said, since its 3 years you can diversify.

Just, try to hold on to your sched, especially if it seems like you're losing out. It's already lost money in those cases anw, might as well continue (And I hope said 10k is an amount you're okay with losing out in the worst case scenario)
1624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Crypto as "payment" method adaptable for non tech-savvy people? on: April 14, 2023, 01:26:50 PM
Hello guys,

Today I came here in hopes to find an answer to a very IMPORTANT question.

I have been helping businesses for the last 6 years with the implementation of blockchain and cryptocurrency in their business. It works fine for the people who know how things work in crypto.

But when it comes to the general public (non-tech-savvy), I can see that people still can't use it, and they are afraid of the technology. They don't know how to use it.

Also, they fear losing money. If they miss the private key their funds will be lost forever. No one is there to help them recover. See this news.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/13/business/tens-of-billions-worth-of-bitcoin-have-been-locked-by-people-who-forgot-their-key.html

Is anyone here thought how can we help our children and elders in our family so they can use crypto without hesitation just like they use fiat money?
100%. It's just a matter of them being taught how. Fiat was really easy to use since people use it all around us, so even without being taught directly, we can still learn it somewhat. Crypto on the other hand may require more tech to use, but considering how wallet apps are growing already, I don't think having a QR code for your crypto wallet would be that much of a hurdle to learn.

Additionally, it's not something to be forced really, that's why the idea of fiat and crypto coexisting has never left my mind. One is the governments wouldn't let crypto have its dominance and two, some people just don't bother wanting to have the advantages crypto has. It's dangerous maybe, but since it's a service being offered by the government (which most probably trust) I don't see anything wrong with forcing them to transition.
1625  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cashout money on: April 14, 2023, 04:23:22 AM
i did give them my documents but they saw  a mismatch in the name of the owner and me

so that didn't work Sad   i'm not the owner of this account
I think that answers the question itself? I mean no proper/legal business would ever accept only proof of payment as the proof for identity, both needs to match. People can borrow from other people to pay stuff, but you can't exactly go about borrowing other people's identity now.

In the first place though shouldn't you be able to contact the og user of the account? Seeing as you funded his account through your own methods after all. That is unless you're using a different identity then well, all the blame is on you.
1626  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can this be effective against the increasing numbers of gamblers? on: April 13, 2023, 11:20:21 PM
Quote

The Premier League have confirmed clubs have voluntarily agreed to remove gambling sponsors from the front of their matchday shirts from the start of the 2025/26 season.

This is a move to try to reduce promotion of gambling in the premier league with it's increasing audience, do you think it can successfully reduce the number of people who gamble? What do you think? Will these gambling platforms not just move to other sports, do you think other sports that wear their sponsors name in England will adopt this new development in the premier league?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/premier-league-clubs-to-remove-gambling-sponsors-from-front-of-shirts/ar-AA19Ogeu
Isn't it like, kind of too late? Sponsorships on their shirts were really effective in the past since people only had those (and some minor sources probably) as a source of advertisement, but with how the internet and social media has developed and how people are growing into it, they can probably get away with doing most of it online.

Football fans especially know how there's a lot of gamblers among their midst, and anyone entering the scene would probably get to hear it themselves here and there. I reckon whichever platform used to advertise there would be affected, but only temporarily and shouldn't be that big of an effect itself.
1627  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you lose on slots? on: April 13, 2023, 12:28:55 PM
i play slots hoping to win 'big win' or 'jackpot' but many times it don't hits and my balance get drained after betting many times in one slot machine. hoping it already took my so much balance it will definitely going to hit this times, but it never happens, and my balance becomes "0".
I think we all lose on slots, we all lose on everything pretty much, don't really see how slots could be excluded from that. Anyway, as long as you have fun, you can consider the money spent on slots to just be fees you'd normally spend when buying stuff or payment when going on a vacation really, it's all about how you see things. If you're gambling for money, well, I suggest looking for a better paying job instead or learning a new skill or two to freelance off of.

1. always set a budget for playing slots and stick to it. do not chase losses or try to win back what you have lost by playing more.
7. avoid getting "slot psychosis" where you get stuck on one machine for too long. remember that slots are based on random chance and there is no guaranteed way to win.
so, take breaks, switch machines and remember to have fun!
One is a natural when it comes to gambling, it's rather addictive due to how simple most games are after all. 7 is dependent I guess? I was often stuck on a slot or two when I used to play back then simply because I really liked the style/atmosphere it presented.
1628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ridiculous Bets that disappointed you on: April 13, 2023, 04:13:53 AM
Idrk what you would call a "ridiculous bet", but I do remember about how absolutely pissed I was during Dota 2s TI6 tournament, OG vs TNC, OG was an absolute favorite and I myself were one of the people who were expecting a lot out of them, only to be brought down all of a sudden by TNC. I was a kid back then in hindsight since underdogs can usually be seen here and there, but OGs performance was just that underwhelming.
1629  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for April on: April 13, 2023, 12:09:36 AM
Ehhh I reckon we'd stop for a bit here for a few weeks. Im bullish for maybe $35 or 40k in around 3 months maybe, jump from 28 to 30 was kind of fast so I wouldn't get my hopes up hoping for more (like what happened when it jumped to 28 last time iirc)

I'm more than happy enough if Bitcoin simply stays above 28 though, as the worst case scenario.
1630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wagering requirements for withdraw on: April 12, 2023, 04:23:14 AM
I recently discovered that I signed up for a casino without thoroughly reading its terms and conditions agreement. But of course this was entirely my fault even that I am still bothered by the withdrawal requirements on deposits. It is well known that deposit bonuses or any bonus offered by a casino will have wagering requirements that goes to x50 or more. What truly concerns me is the 5X wagering requirement on normal deposits without any bonus in order to withdraw the initial deposit or winnings.
To clarify things better here is an example : if you were to deposit $1000 and win $200 in your first few games then you wouldnt be able to withdraw your winnings or even your deposits without wagering at least $5000. This means that 80% of the time, you would lose your money before reaching the required amount.
In my opinion this term is unfair. I am not attacking any specific casino, but I do believe that if users were aware of these requirements they would be less likely to deposit their money in such casinos since there are other casinos without such stringent requirements.
I meaaaannn their casino their rules. And seeing as it hasn't gone under (since you yourself tried it out) then I reckon they have enough of a player base that accepted their rules. Might indeed be a bit too big, but as long as they use money laundering as an excuse they can get away with it.

I've never really bothered with wagering requirements since I usually never withdraw money from casinos
1631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tilt in gambling on: April 12, 2023, 02:14:30 AM
Have you experienced tilt over the long game?  How have you dealt with it?  How do you think you can gamble with a cool head, and how do you make yourself a good brake inside)   And why do people in general like to gamble? Huh  I never thought I would enjoy gambling) I remember playing cards for change with my cousin as a child, it was very funny when she lost, fell on the table and shouted that it was all mine) Grin
I mean, play Dota 2 in the SEA, I'd expect you'd get used to being tilted and raging.

Kidding aside (not really tbf), tilt is a natural part of enjoyment, it comes in all sorts of forms and methods (and people) but that's just how it is. I usually deal with it by storming off, taking a jog around my neighborhood if it's really big and just taking in deep breaths if it's small.

I usually gamble with a cool head, rarely do I tilt, different thing when it comes to sports gambling though, how I'd love to squeeze the players after losing an easy game.
1632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are lotteries really a good way to engage with gamblers? on: April 11, 2023, 01:33:34 PM
Hi everyone.
Maybe some of you have noticed that we are quite active on the forum, trying our best to offer bitcointalk gamblers interesting promotions.
We at MegaPari got used to a format of a lottery - we ask players to fulfill certain requirements and collect their IDs in order to pick winners for rewards.
First they were some bonus offerings, now we are also giving away "physical prizes" - a luxurious vacation or even a Lamborghini crossover. (details in our ANN thread, btw).
But here what concerns me - I think we need to move to a more engaging way of communicating with the audience while  running such campaigns.

Would you guys mind sharing you vision on the following:
-Do you personally take part in lotteries by online casinos?
-Do you track the progress and results of such campaigns?
-If so, are there any changes you would offer to make lotteries more exciting?

All in all, any discussion on the topic is welcome c:
I'd say it depends on what it means to "engage" with your audience, if it was actively communicating with them through tourney-esque events, then yea lotteries can be one, but you shouldn't limit your engagements with only something like lotteries.

To answer the questions, yes I do sometimes whenever my sessions coincide with it or whenever I actually notice they're doing one. I usually just enjoy whatever they give me at the moment, I don't really actively chase it around or something so it's really whatever for me, I play if I can if I don't then that's that.

More consolation prizes so that many participants would be happy and would like to participate on next round again.
Like bonus options? Freespins for example?
I guess those are a few samples of consolations you can add, but I'd suppose a lot would prefer withdrawable money instead since most bonuses and/or rewards are pretty much locked to us needing to spend it to the casino itself. Other than those maybe some kind of custom tourney tickets maybe? Might be a bit too complicated by then though.
1633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The hype ends ? on: April 11, 2023, 04:16:36 AM
In the past few weeks, most cryptocurrencies have been doing great: Bitcoin price increasing from below $20,000 to above $28,000, ETH following to increase to the level of above $18,000, same as some other big name altcoins. Even the new listed ARB has enjoyed an ATH around $1.3(if I am not wrong), and Dogecoin price was suddenly reaching an ATH at almost $0.1 after Elon Musk changed the Twitter logo as Dogecoin. However, the market correction happened after the little hype endured a short period. What can we conclude from all these market fluctuation ? Until the next bull market comes, is this hype considered over now ? Please let me know your thoughts. By the way, I am with FireDAO team, in charge of the global community. Please feel free to contact me should you have any inquiry.
Doge is well, Doge, I don't think we need to mind the pumps and dumps there. Bitcoin going up to 28 was probably just it correcting itself after some massive dumps last year, honestly should've been sooner but with back to back negatives about the crypto scene, well, this is what we get (and to note crypto just rose up to 30k recently). Eth and probably other crypto markets just followed BTC I reckon.

As for the future ehh, a sideways movement leaning more on growing the price. It wouldn't show explosive changes but gradual instead imo (maybe except some booms here and there)
1634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕘𝕒𝕞𝕖 𝟚𝟘𝟜𝟠 𝕚𝕟 𝕘𝕒𝕞𝕓𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕘 on: April 11, 2023, 12:13:01 AM
How do you think the game 2048 is suitable for gambling in casinos? Before I started playing in casinos, in my free time I played 2048, I somehow think that in casinos this game will be a success, the game should be with a cashout.  What do you think about it? Huh
It's skilled based though? Maybe if they added some new rules or some factors that are influenced by luck, such as adding x number tiles with number y every z turn, the maybe. But it would still be highly reliant on skill and not luck.

Most casino games, even those with some skill required like blackjack/poker, still heavily relies on luck and not skill. With the case of 2048 (and even with some adjustments), the game would still be heavily reliant on skill and understanding. Even introducing a time limit wouldn't make it any different imo.
1635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has a bad reputation (we should fix it) on: April 10, 2023, 10:58:51 AM
Hello everyone!
I've been thinking a lot about Bitcoin adoption lately and I think that adoption is still pretty slow partly because of the Bitcoin reputation. Despite it being a progressive technology of the future, a lot of people still think that it's a joke.
I'd personally think I'm the joke if I fuck up my entry by buying high and selling low, but hey, it's a lot easier to blame something else instead of yourself.

I think it would be good if we can convince these people that they are wrong. I know that an obvious way to do it would be an education, which will help A LOT. But as for now, do you think there are other ways to change these people's opinions?
Like would it be good if we could create a system that somehow will make the life of criminals who use Bitcoin harder?
I don't think we need to do anything with regards to criminals, the government is doing its stuff about that (and is affecting also other regular uses unfortunately), and even then, they aren't exactly wrong that it's being used for criminal activity, I mean, if it was biased about that then it wouldn't be decentralized anymore. It's just that the first notion people see Bitcoin as is for "criminal usage", so we should change that to "anyone without being controlled" instead. Sadly with a bit of looking up this can easily be clarified, but well, idk. The internet was supposed to make looking up info a lot easier but it seems like a lot of people regressed in that regard instead.
1636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rigged Game on: April 10, 2023, 05:35:39 AM
But one comes in mind that I can't get rid of, those that Rigged their games, I don't know if people actually know that some online casinos Rigged their games, like the Aztec casino that was labeled a scam casino for example.

My question is how can one know that their game is rigged? If you play over 20 games and you lose it all, no one will believe you if you say that their is something wrong with the platform because truthfully as a gambler you have to lose, so what way can you actually know that a casino game is been rigged?
You don't. In most cases of rigged games, you usually find out it's rigged a period after the rigged games happen, and it depends as well depending on the amount of notice it has. It may take days if a LOT of people took note, or months to years if there were only a few (and by then it'd almost be forgotten or dropped by those who noticed it in the first place). It's why in the first place you'd choose to play on reputable casinos, and even if you do play on new ones, you wouldn't try to spend that much until at least enough time was given to guarantee that the casino isn't trying to run away with your money. Ofc this doesn't stop old casinos from going awol all of a sudden, but hey, nothing we can do there really.
1637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Times When Casinos Will Ask Certificate That You Are A Responsible Gambler on: April 10, 2023, 01:54:40 AM
Will there come a time when online casinos will implement that you upload a responsible gambler certificate before you continue to play because of too many government restrictions it's not necessary for newly registered gamblers but for gamblers who lose a lot of money and their activity is they are suspected to be addicted to gambling.
The reason why the government will implement this, as a precaution, is to protect people from losing their wealth and their health from too much gambling because of addiction, it's a way of protection.
How would one even consider a gambler a "responsible" one? Sounds like a lot of paperwork, and if other casinos don't follow it then the effort simply is just wasted. Besides, casinos are a business, they may take into account a users personal interest by offering warnings, but no way in hell are they going to put out manpower to handle all that stuff, it's a loss of potential customers (since a lot would probably just not do it since a pain, kyc already is, imagine this being added).

The idea made me think up of a centralized group that handles registrations of gamblers though, so that there's like a one for all account type of thing so that KYC is only done once and tracking is much easier but, well, the hard part is trying to get a centralized group that can handle casinos in all countries to form though.
1638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Thought On Gambling Strategies on: April 09, 2023, 06:27:45 AM
I think people don't understand that there is no strategy in gambling. Gamble but consider your spendings on it as an entertainment expense. Got luck on your side and won? Good. If you don't you still had fun.
Can't emphasize more about having fun. I mean I wouldn't mind people exploring whatever "strategies" they think works or found, it's part of the fun if they really wanted to (just like how it is in most games), but since gambling directly deals with money most people (if not all) use said strategies to assume that they'd win money (at least majority of the time) and if they don't, well, they forget often that gambling is simply just for fun.

Just the fact that House Edge exists is enough to say that a user isn't going to win against a casino at all really.
1639  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Martingale strategy in casinos on: April 09, 2023, 12:44:41 AM
There are a LOT of discussions about martingale so if you're interested in reading through some of them, then I'll link some below. To add my opinion to it, it's not a strategy, it's just a method that ensures that as long as you have money that you can bet, you can break even at some point in time. That's not really winning, that's just playing their game and for some reason hoping that you still get away with equal amount, instead of the intended purpose (imo) of winning all or nothing in gambling. And with how the casinos always win due to house edge, I don't really think it's a strateg yto follow.

So... it's a battle of who's richer? I hardly doubt that's something interesting. It's not based on luck or skill, it's based on how much you can slap the other party with a thick stack of money instead, and really, the only party enjoying this is the winner. At least in other gambling games, like poker, losers would still somehow enjoy even the process. This might be better in a tournament format if OP wants to continue though, I don't think it's a game for a site really, unless timeframes for people to put their money in is like in days or weeks.
Even if they create video tutorials, it wont make any change imo. Also, I would not say it as a good initiative but it is a bad initiative because this game is a game that will be easily dominated by players with big bankroll. However I do not even think that players with big bankroll are interested to play this game. Sorry to say, this project gambling site will not alive for long time due to lack of interest.
It's tutorial is basically pressing some sort of button and giving the pot the money I reckon, nothing interesting or thinking happening.
