16381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it a waste of time mentioning Bitcoin to friends and family? on: January 17, 2016, 03:55:59 AM
I've actually started talking about bitcoin to one of my coworkers, and he seems intrigued.  I think I posted this somewhere else, but I told him what a signature campaign is and that I'm in one and he seemed interested that I could earn money just by posting stuff in an online forum.  Admittedly the payouts aren't huge, but the bitcoin is paid out nonetheless.  I've told some other people, but I still have a hard time explaining the advantages of bitcoin.
16382  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC is going back to $400 on: January 17, 2016, 03:52:22 AM
OP what exchange are you looking at, because I check preev and we're still at $385.  Yeah it's close to $400 but it's not $400.

However, I do agree with you that we'll get back there soon.  Unfortunately I have nothing to base this opinion on and I'm just hoping.   Grin
16383  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where can I buy physical gold for bitcoin? on: January 17, 2016, 03:44:18 AM
I've ordered silver from Provident Metals in the past, and I found them to be reliable, and they sell gold as well.  Their selection kind of leaves a lot to be desired, but if you're looking for just bullion they've definitely got it.  I was going to order from them a few days ago but changed my mind and decided to hold onto my bitcoin--then btc tanked to <$400 and now I just want to hang onto it and wait for a rebound.
16384  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why I Will Never Vote for Donald Trump on: January 17, 2016, 03:36:59 AM
Doodz, it Donald Trump gets elected, I'm moving to South America.  Or Europe.  Or committing suicide.  But there's not a chance he's going to get elected.  What I can't stand is that he's actually running and making a mockery of the process.
16385  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Cryptsy could be working on fractional reserve. on: January 17, 2016, 03:32:56 AM
Cryptsy will be the next Mt. Gox. Mark my words.

You called it, sir, way back then.  I applaud you.

It sucks they Goxxxed, but that's what happens when people with no fucking business sense try to start up a business.  It's unfortunate that said knuckleheads started up a bitcoin exchange and not a pizza parlor.
16386  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the Chinese pumpers pump BTC up again in the next 30 days? on: January 17, 2016, 03:24:37 AM
We're close to the Chinese New Year, so who knows what the fuck can happen?

Is that about the size of it?  I have no clue whatsoever whether China or anyone else is going to produce a rally.  It seems like the bitcoin market is moved by small things, apparently.  Mike Hearn's statement.  Cryptsy going kablooey.  Why would China suddenly have a reason to push the price up?
16387  Other / Off-topic / Re: Worst mistake you did with Bitcoin? on: January 17, 2016, 03:21:24 AM
Yeah, cloud mining is pretty bad.

I haven't made any really stupid mistakes yet, but there's always the chance of that.  I'm not overly greedy and I don't gamble, lend, or look to put my bitcoin to work with shitty "investments" here on bitcointalk.  So I have yet to be scammed--but I haven't been in bitcoin all that long compared to a lot of folks.
16388  Economy / Economics / Re: How too get rich on: January 17, 2016, 03:11:24 AM
Man, I wish I'd known in 2009 what I know now.  Isn't that always the way?  I think I may have heard of bitcoin not long after then, but my memory is a bit hazy from that period lol.

But hindsight is 20/20 of course, so that's why I'm buying now.  There was another thread here about Warren Buffett and bitcoin, and it'd be great if someone like him did in fact endorse bitcoin.  The price would likely skyrocket.  News definitely seems to affect the price dramatically.
16389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn is wrong. Bitcoin isn't dead on: January 17, 2016, 03:06:22 AM
Yeah I think I heard of bitcoin's death first in 2013--it wasn't true then and it still isn't true, but that doesn't stop people from yelling it from the hilltops.  It's a neat new invention with numerous applications and I say that as long as it's useful for gambling, trading, and for dark marketplace goods it'll stick around.
16390  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price fall I need to sell now on: January 17, 2016, 03:03:59 AM
Sir!  I understand the queasiness but hopefully you knew of bitcoin's volatility before you plunged in, no?  I took some paper losses in the past few days but my horizons are somewhat long-term and I can afford to just hold on.  It's been quite a ride so far.
16391  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy customers: Do you favor a buy out scenario? on: January 17, 2016, 02:13:03 AM
I'm thinking 10 thousand bitcoins. So probably under 4 million dollars. If bitcoin tanks maybe cheaper. For a business that can probably make a couple million a year if it's taken over and run by someone who could do it right. For the right investor with a couple million bucks I think it could be a good buy.
Dude they ran the exchange into the ground with lies and deceit and in the process tarnished their brand name. Someone who had that amount of money would be better off starting a new exchange than buying Cryptsy.
16392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: How will member keepdoing be remembered? on: January 17, 2016, 01:35:27 AM
OP do you have a link to this "poor behavior"?  Otherwise I have no clue what you're talking about.
16393  Economy / Economics / Re: I'm not gonna sell any coin. on: January 17, 2016, 01:06:02 AM
I bought some yesterday and a little more today.  I think the drop is/was due to mh's comments and maybe because of cryptsy.  I'm more concerned about what's going on with the stock market lately than I am with bitcoin.
16394  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Ore-Mine.org - first time Bitcoin Ponzi destroyed by government? on: January 17, 2016, 01:00:36 AM
Nah it was probably seized.  They put up this seizure notice when they bust dark market sites if I'm not mistaken.   I suppose there's a chance it's fake but I suspect it isn't.
16395  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: QuickSellers new Alt / Alias: mexxer-2 .. Proof inside on: January 17, 2016, 12:56:40 AM
I would be interested to know when the mexxer account was sold.  Recently?
16396  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pls Help on: January 17, 2016, 12:40:54 AM
Don't join a signature campaign, because if you have to create idiotic topics like this to figure out how to earn money, chances are you have little to offer the forum.  Whatever you write is going to be garbage-y.

Browse through the hundreds of threads here dedicated to this very topic and you'll find your answer.
16397  Economy / Exchanges / Re: cryptsy hacked - bigvern on cryptsy blog on: January 16, 2016, 07:16:43 PM
from:  blog.cryptsy.com

"Here are the transaction details from the Bitcoin wallet:

https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/0c07e0bec1002bd2

As you can see,  2014-07-29 13:17:36 is when the event occurred. "

So Cryptsy knew about the "theft / hack" for more than a year and did nothing about it?  Not even reporting it to authorities?  seems a bit fishy to me.

If a thief/hacker had stolen that many coins, they would have mixed them and sold them (or at least some of them) before news of the hack got out to maximize their profits - not just leaving them in the mentioned wallets waiting to be traced.
Totally fishy.  I'd almost say the story is a made up lie.  I'd be tempted to say that this is a complete inside job scam.
16398  Economy / Speculation / Re: Global crisis... on: January 16, 2016, 07:01:16 PM
Nah, not that bad.  I think a lot of what's going on in the market is related to the recent interest rate hike--at least in the US.  If money gets more expensive to borrow, stock prices generally go down.  I don't think what we're seeing is anywhere near as bad as the great depression.  Not even 2009 was that bad.
16399  Other / Meta / Re: Stop Neg-Tagging For Ponzi In a PAID Signature. on: January 16, 2016, 03:53:15 PM
-snip-
It is correct, but I'm afraid that this is working only by now. With time there will be farm of Full, Senior accounts with negative trust and will rise red trust sig campaign plague.. Hopefully not.
No worries Cheesy
The ponzies we neg-tag today won't live long enough to see any of their advertisers turn Full Member or higher.
Yeah it actually surprises me that any ponzi would advertise via a sig campaign.   They're such scammy, fly-by-night organizations that advertising seems like total overkill.
16400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Where to buy DOGECOINS via Payza or Debit Card, or any exchanger ? on: January 16, 2016, 03:48:32 PM
Thanks , but that bittrex I registered with 2FA and everything is quite difficult, and I don't see an option to buy dogecoin with payment processors like Payza , Debit Card, etc

i think the best solution for this is you need to buy a bitcoin first and then you buy dogecoin on shapeshift

on shapeshift you dont need to registered, dont need 2FA you just need a bitcoin and dogecoin address
Yes, these are good methods and also,  doesn't this forum have its own altcoin marketplace?   You might be able to find a good price here.  For speed though you should probably just use an exchange.   Yobit isn't bad.   Grin
