It is normal to see aged players play from the bench and Ronaldo is no exception, same way Juan Mata was playing from the bench for united because his fitness was not good enough to play longer time and start for united especially for intensed games. Kieran Tierney was my favorite playing in the left wing back position but since Zinchenko's addition to the squad it seems he has brought in balance to the defense, he seems to understand Arteta's task and how Arteta wants him to play, just like switching up to midfield to cover for Xhaka when he moves forward I think that is the unique skill Zinchenko brings. Gabriel and Saliba's partnership has been outstanding and have helped the team concede lesser amount of goals this season, imo they should be able to hold back Tottenham's attacks.
