Those things sell for $3000-$5000

Prove it's real and you might sell it.

Here is a list of items needed:

- Better Front Picture (Turn on the light)
- Back Picture of the time piece
- Picture of the owner manual next to the watch
- Serial number  (Rolex can verify it)
- Receipt or reason to why there is none (A few friend of mine own there and they are real sticky about keeping all this info to "maintain resale value"

This is basic stuff for Rolexes.  Can't believe we have to ask 4 to 5 times.
1642  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Potential Scam - Selling Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King on: November 27, 2012, 06:23:13 PM
I understand and I have seen some of these deals.  What I am saying is that on "this" deal, it is not being handled properly and has many red flags summarized above.   I think what needs to happen is a serial number, better photos (including back of watch picture and manual) need to be provided so we can verify it and look to make an offer.   It is ridiculous for many buyers to be told that they can't have that.  It is brazen and shows utter dis-contempt for our community especially people who have the means to purchase such a high ticket item.

Fair enough Smiley

Once these items are provided, I will be deleting my remarks here and on the OP.   Public pressure is what is needed right now to get this deal right.
1643  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New Tag for false Accusations - LIAR TAG on: November 27, 2012, 06:21:29 PM
I would like to vote for gineta as the first judge and jury of BitCourt. He seems to have the right ideas on how to reign in these abuses of freedom and how to establish a firm set of rules everyone can follow for the good of everyone.

I think if we need a person or council to handle these issues, they should be on this forum longer than Nov 9th 2012.   That is my vote.
1644  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Potential Scam - Selling Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King on: November 27, 2012, 06:11:28 PM
While they have not been $1500 items, like this single watch, dank does have a history of good trades.
Recently sold a bunch of silver, probably over a thousand dollars worth, and I remember him coming through on some bongs or somesuch.

Calling dank a scammer? I must say that's a first... NOT! Wink

What I am saying is this deal is a "potential" scam.   He said it is his "friends" so maybe he is a unwitting accomplish at best.
1646  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King on: November 27, 2012, 06:01:09 PM
Well I stepped up and posted about this:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=128041.0

I used the word "potential" at this point.   After reading all the responses and the brazen attitude, it is a red flag.

Note:
Due diligence has been taken and the store who sold it verified Dank's receipt.
1647  Economy / Scam Accusations / Noteworthy - Selling Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King on: November 27, 2012, 05:57:32 PM
Update 11/28/12:  Dank has been much more helpful and some due diligence has been conducted and it looks to be what it is being represented as.  I will leave this up for 24 hours and at that time I will delete this posting.   It is now locked until further notice and this should not reflect negatively on Dank at this time.
1648  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Interesting Observation - Jr. Members talking about ASIC on: November 27, 2012, 05:37:58 PM

Yes you did.  Good one.   Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

We're all sockpuppets.  BFL pays well.

Wink

I bet they do.
1650  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King on: November 27, 2012, 05:27:53 PM
I doubt it.  If you don't think it's real, don't buy it.  That simple.

Dank - This is not the line you should take when asking someone to fork over a thousand dollars.   It really lends more to something being off about this deal.   Talking a photo in the dark, taking only one photo, upside and berating interested buyers for asking for proof of authenticity.   Not a good sign.   Maybe you should re-think your approach.    If the Rolex is legit, it can be proven quite easy and any comment to the contrary shows some bad faith.

P.S.  I think you mean, "Its that simple".

***WARNING***

A scam thread has been opened on the OP here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=127981.0

I hope this gets cleared up.  I have a funny feeling about this one.   Trust your gut when in doubt, it is usually correct.
1652  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Interesting Observation - Jr. Members talking about ASIC on: November 27, 2012, 05:18:46 PM
Just something I wanted to point because I thought it was interesting.

I see many posts on here that seem to discuss ASIC in regards to there affect on mining.   When I look at who is posting them and the subject matter, they seem to be a bunch of new members and at some point in their post history, they support BFL and dismiss or question other companies competing products.

For some reason it seems interesting that they all seem to come here to talk good about BFL's products, that is the common thread.  One that was funny is the "person" who in the introduction is "Hi I am a ASIC engineer from China".  Who are these people?

From BFL_Josh at the BFL forum

Quote
I don't really want to say anything negative about the bASIC at this point... Tom is already apparently in a really bad spot and there is no sense pouring gas on that fire. We haven't decided specifically which way we want to make things even up with competitors products yet, but we have a lot of options and we will match competitors products that actually ship. We will not leave BFL customers behind the curve when it comes to hardware. I'd say there's a good chance we will be shipping before bASIC at this point.

Should BFL's customers take this to mean BFL will reserve any competitive action until competitor products are on the market?

If so, where would this leave BFL customers who have already taken delivery if BFL does ship first and 72GH/s products are on the market shortly thereafter?

IMO, at best, this is a conservative move.  At worst, it's a disingenuous ploy to deny competitive pressure.

Who are you?  Thanks.

Who thinks BFL's competitors are due to wither away if they don't quickly go with a 65 or 45nm process?

500 TH+ competitors will have already started to experience sharply declining sales due to 10+ mo ROI.

Difficulty could reach these levels in a year.

Is investing with a BFL competitor more risky without having a roadmap/plan/stated intentions from the competitor?  Will vendor paranoia persist leaving the community/customers in the dark regarding future technology plans?

Who are you?

Here's the rub.  Based on BFL's statements the current Single 60 GH/s offering has ASIC chips at 50-60% of their claimed maximum clock rate.

You seriously believe that? Why would BMW sell cars that only use 50% of their engine power? Why would Intel sell CPU's that run at 1,3GHz instead of 2,3GHz?

Actually it is quite documented that many cars can get computer chips that can increase their performance to these sorts of levels (25-35%).  Actually to create a "product line" many companies so this.  Look at the difference in GPUs  take a ATI 5850 and 5830 and look at the differences, tell me if you think that is a different chip or just some "tweaks".   Sorry to break this to you but it is standard practice.

All Barracudas.  (3)  40GBs & (1) 80GB.   I would rather dump some of the 40s because of my current configuration and which servers are being decommissioned.  They may even be too small?

Dal

Gotcha, thanks for the reply. I'm looking for something in the ~TB range as I already have 2x 80GB and 1x 500GB. I'll keep an eye on your other stuff, though.

I figured, these are purpose hard-drives, no extra amenities Smiley

I'm interested in a SATA hard drive. What size/brand?
