1641  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-10-17 GoldMoneyNews - Mike Hampton and Dominic Frisby on sound money and cu on: October 19, 2012, 05:18:39 AM
They definitely need to learn quite a lot about bitcoin. But at least frisby is mentioning bitcoin and not in a purely negative way. At least bitcoin is being talked about in more and more circles.

1646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Blog Post] Surprise: The US Dollar is a Virtual Currency on: October 18, 2012, 07:07:11 PM
To drive the point home with my kids, they everyone gets paid their allowance salary by me their bank updating a google doc spreadsheet.

FTFY Steve Wink
I should also mention, that as far as my kids are aware, their balance is 100% backed.   Grin

Hah very nice Steve. The funny thing is most people can't seem to grasp this concept. Bitcoin is vastly superior to most modern day fiat currencies. At least it is limited in quantity and can't simply be doubled by adding a few zeros, like most modern day virtual currencies (Ie. the US Dollar, etc.).

Good blog post evoorhees.

That is really different. Best of luck with your sales on bitmit. I have a few items listed there as well. Honestly I'm fairly impressed with the site so far.

CZ's are 8.5 on the Mohs scale. 10 being diamonds the hardest. CZ's are slightly harder than most gemstones an exception is rubies. So unless you are going around rubbing these stones up against diamonds or rubies or putting them against a grinder you won't scratch them in everyday use. That is a lovely aspect of them. Especially since the price is so affordable.

This is one of the main reasons why they are growing vastly in popularity in their use.

Affordable Price + Durability = Amazing bang for your buck.

Thanks for the questions.

Does simulated diamond mean fake diamond?

Yes. Likely cubic zirconia. Drastically cheaper than actual diamond.

Correct it means man made diamonds. They are lab created. They are only softer than diamonds in hardness. Basically a good simulated diamond, such as the ones we use in our products look like a flawless diamond to the untrained eye. Under a jeweler's lens a trained professional can easily tell the difference.

Regardless the price difference is drastically cheaper. Making them a very affordable option, especially since the quality is exceptional.

Simulated diamonds, such as Cubic Zirconias are appearing more and more in jewelry, even engagement rings as diamonds and gold become increasingly more expensive. They offer quality at an insanely good price. Keep the good questions coming, I am happy to help!

P.S: Thank you to the people who have already placed orders with us! We are incredibly excited to be part of the growing bitcoin community!

How well is litecoin doing these days?
1653  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Location any influence in mining? on: October 17, 2012, 07:17:40 PM
Yes, mining is influenced by the location of the miner, for a few reasons.

Electricity - Obviously, a Miner wants cheap electricity for both powering rigs and cooling the Operation rooms
Heating/Cooling (Mainly cooling) - A miner has to be able to cheaply cool his rigs.
Shipping costs - Miners have to be able to expand and possibly even sell their hardware without paying a fortune for shipping. Remote locations will cost more to ship to and from.
Basically this, with the addition of 1 more reason. The number of stale shares you receive when mining for a pool is typically determined by geographic location compared to the servers where your pool is. Being in the USA, mining for a poolserver that's in the USA will give me the fewest stale shares. There are a few exceptions to this, but not many. In short, geographic location should affect which pool you ultimately throw your hashing power at.

Good answers.

Why are your prices drastically cheaper than retail?  Usually that means fakes/ripoffs/illegitimate goods.  How are you making money with products priced so low compared to retail?

Very good question. I assure you nothing is fake, all our items are exactly as described. All items are legit, we are a registered business that pays taxes and has legitimate wholesalers in the U.S, Canada and internationally.

We are a pure online business. Therefore our overhead is DRASTICALLY lower than a brick and mortar store. Believe me, these items are legit, these prices are legit. That is why we have been successfully growing month over month since we opened in early 2010. If you look around you will see that we get nothing but stellar reviews. Our Credit Card provider is the largest and most respected one in Canada, the application process to be accepted by them is over a month long. We would of been shut down long ago if ANYONE had any concerns about our products.

Also most people don't realize the insane mark ups that brick and mortar jewelry stores add to their prices. We are simply trying to offer goods products, at good prices, with a good service. We have done very well because not being greedy since we first opened. Our return customer base grows daily.

Thanks for your questions and concerns, we are here to help.

Definitely in our top 5 selling at the moment:

"Eternity 18K White Gold Plated 5.0ct Simulated Diamond Hoop Earrings"

"You are looking at a pair of eternity hoop earrings. These earrings are covered in 5.0ct's of simulated diamonds. They have an incredibly unique design. Unlike most earrings that surround the outside of the earrings with stones, these earrings cover the outside of the front of the hoop in stones and the inside of the rear hoop. This is so when you look at these earrings front on, you can see all of the simulated diamond and not just half of them. The outside of the rear of the hoop is not covered in stones. These earrings are 18K white gold plated."
