I haven't been hearing about Barcelona's effort to sign Robert Lewandowski these days. They were seriously interested in this signing but now I don't see it among rumours. However I still think that they won't give up on this transfer. Maybe they aren't in a good financial condition now but they can find a way to raise funds. Yes he coached Madrid to titles all the time he played, and won UCL three times in a row, and all of that are correct stuff. However, he managed only 3 seasons and even though he was amazing using that time, he didn't managed any before or after. Which means that we need to see a great sample to say if he is as good as we think or not. Maybe if he managed real Madrid since those days, they wouldn't get another but ancelotti got it? Who knows, is there a guarantee that it would happen? Or if he goes to PSG today, maybe they won't even win the league let alone UCL, is there a proof? We just need to wait and see. Right now New Zealand is really trying to concentrate on the shorter format of cricket because they have already won the world test cricket championship. With the cricket world cup coming up the only makes sense that they are concentrating on the shorter format and that is the only explanation there is I think.
Playing in away conditions has put a lot of pressure on them in my opinion and they are not being able to get used to the conditions. It has taken a big toll on their performance. They are playing really bad in test cricket right now. They are even losing the matches that they should easily be winning.
New Zealand players are more suited to the longer format, when compared to limited overs cricket. It is their strength and I don't think that they will ignore this format. Both their batsmen (Kane Williamson, Tom Blundell.etc) and the bowlers (Kyle Jamieson, Neil Wagner.etc) are tailor made for test format. Only a few such as Trent Boult and Devon Conway have proved to be consistent performers in limited overs cricket. The excuse of not getting used to the conditions is flimsy. The team is jampacked with experienced players, and weather and ground conditions in England are similar to those back home in New Zealand. Whatever is happening with Newzealand side does not matter as the last two test matches were really very interesting. After so many years I am enjoying a test series. England homeground advantage is helping them a lot as I won't say Newzealand performance has been bad. It is only Mitchell and Blundell who have shown consistent batting performance. In the last match no one knew that Bairstow will bat so well. I was thinking that New Zealand would perform exceptionally well in this series, but England seems to be revived under Stokes and McCullum partnership. Lastly I believe that New Zealand will bounce back strongly in tests, because they have player’s who excel in this format hence just a matter of time before they start winning again. |

Australia somehow managed to win the match by two wickets only. It was a batting friendly pitch and Sri Lanka had set a good target too. The DLS method had made the game more favourable for Sri Lanka. But Stoinis has played well in the middle over and Maxwell has finished the game in his style. However, it was a competitive game in the last few overs as Australia had only two wickets left.
Sri Lanka has once again performed poorly in ODI format, and that too playing at home. Fortunately for them, this series is not part of the World Cup Super League, else they would have been in big trouble. Still, there is a very slim chance that Sri Lanka would be able to secure automatic qualification to the world cup, because they just have 62 points from 18 matches. Giving a good fight to their opponents won't help them in the long term. They need to win matches against the big 3 teams, and that's all that matters. I actually don't think that Sri Lanka played that badly. I actually think they have done well enough in the batting department but yes, in the bowling department, the performance of Sri Lanka was questionable. Except for Wanindu Hasaranga, no other bowlers of Sri Lanka were able to perform well and Australia really took advantage of that. Sri Lanka had good enough runs on the board. Right now I don't see them winning against any bigger team. Srilanka played quiet good this time. It was Maxwell who helped Australia to win the match. Srilankan spinners dominated the match after the drizzle. The ball was staying low and was spinning incredibly. If the medium pacer had bold good then Australia would have lost the match. Sri Lanka was defeated by Maxwell's devastating batting. After Marcus Stoinis was out I thought Australia might not win. Because the Sri Lankan bowlers were bowling well enough. But Maxwell's responsible batting helped Australia to an easy win. If Sri Lanka wants to win the series, their bowlers have to perform better. I agree with you’ll that Srilanka indeed played well despite the loss they showed courage against a difficult Australian side, and they can take plenty of positives from this match. Furthermore if they can improve more on their performances then I see no reason why Srilanka can’t beat the big teams in the near future, and those who feel that Srilanka didn’t feel play well then they need to watch the match again. |

It was amazing but frustrating to watch the first half (second half I was having my eyes elsewhere so couldn't really tell if they improved) but this match was so important to them and they played like they were not really hungry (I even felt UAE were more desperate). Peru's pretty good, mind you, they've been solid players in the Concacaf games -- both will want to continue their WC final appearance but yeah, Aussie's got the weight of history behind them, appearing in every edition I've ever watched except the first (1998, where they lost the playoff to Iran)  Who else thinks a Kiwi-Aussie acca is worth the money? I think so. I'm surprised that Australia has a 4.6 odds of winning and a 2.9 overall odds of qualifying. Despite the fact that Peru is a strong team, these are too pessimistic estimates for Australia. I think that in such circumstances betting on Australia would be a logical move because winning looks more likely than the bookmakers show us. I am South American and I know what the capabilities of Peru are, IF something that Australia has as an advantage over Peru has always been the height of the players, if they are intelligent they manage to develop more air soccer for the World Cup that they really need to do and have more dynamics, free kicks are the best they can take advantage of if they are not given the strategies for Australia in the World Cup, they must play faster, everyone is talking about these classifications, both Australia and Costa Rica, many really believed that Peru was going to go, however I am glad to see these countries in the World Cup are deserving. I didn’t watch the match but prior to the match I believed that Peru would beat Australia and qualify for the World Cup, but Australia played well and in the end deserved to be playing at the World Cup. Furthermore how many of you’ll had actually wagered on Australia, because those were really nice odds and now I truly regret not placing a small wager on Australia for fun sake. |

I suppose this request will not be a problem for Medvedev and other Russian and Belarusian tennis players and that they will agree to a compromise so that they can play in America. Lately, there's a little too much policy in sports, especially in tennis. What do you think? @Daniel91 this is a welcome news as athletes should not suffer due to political reasons, and I’m sure that the Russian stars will be open to play under a neutral flag. However I expect them to be booed a lot and even face protests by fans condemning Russia’s action, hence they’ll have to consider all the aspects before agreeing to travel there and play. |
