16402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you go short position in bitcoinica? on: January 05, 2012, 02:42:23 AM
sounds like u funded the original trade with USD's?

i don't get it.  they've claimed repeatedly they could cash you out in USD's by selling for you on gox?  what gives?

I funded the account with a MtGox USD voucher.  When I closed my position I had over 5x the USD that I started with.  I tried to withdraw from Bitcoinica with a MtGox USD voucher, and they did not have enough funds available to give me the voucher.  I even tried a small amount of $100 and got the same error "Mt Gox limit temporarily reached" or something like that.

So I exchanged the USD for Bitcoins in bitcoinica, and just withdrew them to my personal bitcoin wallet, and it worked out just fine.

you won't think it worked out just fine if the btc price plummets.  you should not be restricted in your options like that esp. when Zhou has assured us that this shouldn't be a problem.
16403  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bed vs watching my position? Periodically waking up? on: January 05, 2012, 02:25:49 AM
i put my Android underneath my left bun and when the price moves up more than 2% it vibrates.

that blows as far as i'm concerned.  everyone of those Bitcoinica pumpers assured me that the longs in a one directional mkt up like we have now and even in a red flag event had immediate access to USD's to cash out.

16409  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica: How it works on: January 05, 2012, 12:57:19 AM
can someone explain this to me?:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=56615.msg674392#msg674392e

i thought that even in a red flag event the longs were supposed to be able to cash out in USD's?
16410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you go short position in bitcoinica? on: January 05, 2012, 12:53:24 AM
Then cry :-P.

Exactly. I got long in bitcoinica with 5:1 leverage at $2.06.  When I tried to withdraw my winnings this week they didn't have enough money in Mt. Gox to cover it, so I had to exchange them for bicoins and take the bitcoins.  So I'm still long, just at the 1:1  ratio now  Cheesy

2 things for your charts which i like better on mtgoxlive:

1.  once again, total USD's to reach a certain price
2.  the flashing of the trades going off in the top right of the chart.

you said what I thought

this is my job; figure out what ppl are thinking before they do!

+1.  You need a USD scale and when you hover over some price, you need the BTC and USD needed to get there.  Flashing trades would also be nice.

However, I'm looking forward to your historical depth because that will be the most interesting feature.

i'm glad at least one person got back from the bank. Grin
its lonely around here.

so quiet around here.  looks like everyone went to the bank to get their USD's over to mtgox.

$OBV has been in positive territory for the last few days, for the first time in months...

There is new money coming into the market.

and these are the professional strong hands that won't be shaken off the Bull as easily as the kid geeks.
