nice. Now lets see a fork with a better idea than 100% pre mined. I would be interested in that.

There is no mining or premining in ripple network. I don't understand why people still don't get it.

For sure some ideas will emerged from the work OpenCoin have done but going as far as OpenCoin is with seems difficult...

nono. anyone can try.  that's the reason the code is open source.

Of course. But i'm curious to see those people claiming things better than ripple will appear in no time ...

that's the idea.  they can try.  if you saw bibbit's post you can understand where i'm getting at.  ripple ain't bitcoin. sure, ripple needs the community, but there's more it needs.  way more. and i don't think a group of coders can deliver what ripplelabs is planning to deliver.

Powercoin fork incoming  Tongue

EDIT: For sale - ripplelabs.net and ripplelabs.org (contact me to express interest).

just quoting NWO.  i am not in anyway trying to help him sell those domains. i quoted it for everyone to see.

A quote within a quote. I guess thank you for the second page promotion?

no problem.

16513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple XRP climbing on open source and ZipZap news! UPDATE - up 83% and climbing on: September 24, 2013, 10:42:10 AM
nice post from bibbit at ripple forum.

"Ripple will not grow quickly from the grass roots, it will grow quickly by signing up entities who already have many customers. Gateways without existing customers are OK, but gateways with legions of customers with money already in their accounts are much better.

Many religions gained huge numbers of converts each time they converted a single emperor, king or other ruler. Convert the right person and all those under his sway are automatically converted. OpenCoin should be focusing on conferences, big money people and corporate partners for just this reason.

Can you imagine how adoption would catch fire if just four people bought in, who made integration happen for HSBC (Largest non-Chinese bank. Branches in 85 countries), Google (wallet payments and play store purchases worldwide leverage Android adoption, AdWords, AdSense), Apple and Amazon (World's largest online retailer)?

If those four add Ripple integration, all the other players would be scrambling to jump on board.

OC might not be starting that big, but gateways and merchants are really important. That is the beauty and necessity of OC using the large XRP share to hire the staff, fund the evangelism to the right players/conferences and incentivize the early gateways and merchants.

Any fork of the code will be at a serious disadvantage with respect to gateway and merchant relationships."

-bibbit

let's see if OC can pull it off. this project could be big and it's a different ball game out there. OC is taking math based currencies on a whole new level.

16515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Giveaway! on: September 24, 2013, 04:23:10 AM
Hello Bitcoin Forum,

We are the company behind the new Ripple open payment system. We are pleased to announce the first official XRP giveaway. To thank the Bitcoin community for their support and to encourage people to experiment with Ripple and provide feedback, we are targeting this giveaway to users of the Bitcoin Forum.

Anyone whose Bitcoin Forum account was created before February 19, 2013, 18:45 UTC, is eligible to receive XRP.

You may claim your XRP simply by posting your Ripple address in this thread. Please note that your replies will be processed by a script, so make sure that your post contains only your Ripple address.

We are currently giving 1,000 XRP to anyone who claims. This amount will decrease over the course of the giveaway. We are giving to a limited number of people a day so it might be awhile after your post before you receive your XRP.

By requesting XRP, you acknowledge and agree that the transfer thereof is entirely automatic and does not constitute a contract, warranty, or agreement of any kind between you and OpenCoin Inc. Please remember Ripple is still in early beta so expect bugs.

Enjoy!
OpenCoin Inc.

If you have any questions or concerns about this giveaway, or about Ripple in general, please don't hesitate to ask us either on this forum or ours.

16516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple XRP climbing on open source and ZipZap news! UPDATE - up 83% and climbing on: September 23, 2013, 12:13:15 AM
USD/XRP is the interesting order book right now.

There is about $5000 of support between 102.7 and 110.

There is about $5000 of resistance between 90 and 98.

So I obviously don't know which way it will go, but still betting on that resistance to fall, considering the high profile Ripple events that are coming soon and will be covered by various forms of media.

dream on, kid.
16517  Economy / Securities / Re: Cloudhashing ASIC mining contracts, UK LTD company - Now Mining & Paying Bitcoin on: September 21, 2013, 04:08:38 AM
Yes, Scotjam, I have not looked at this thread since my last post. I was bored just a second ago and searched my username on here and saw ManicMeddler was ranting about me in the Newbie forum on this subject. So, I am now interested in this again and will reiterate my stance.

When the first person breaks even on their Cloudhashing contracts, then I will be the first to admit I am wrong. Until then, I will stand by my opinion that it is a bad investment and CloudHashing sells overpriced mining contracts that are unlikely to break even.

I will leave it at that. It's funny how investors get married to investments they make and feel the need to defend them and belittle me in the process. I am genuinely worried about investors making their money back through CloudHashing mining contracts. Is that really such a bad thing?

I admit they are not a flat out scam like I originally thought they may be. However, they are still not a good investment regardless. Until someone actually makes as much BTC as they spent on their contract, my opinion on this will not change.

the more CH has to work hard to prove you wrong...  again.
16518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple XRP climbing on open source and ZipZap news! UPDATE - up 83% and climbing on: September 21, 2013, 01:33:58 AM
holding strong today still around .01.  Not that much buyers but no one seems to want to sell either.  A bit of a stalemate but still up about 68% from when I first posted the thread.

yeah. good thing no ones selling it down. we need something like a boiler room and cold call this thing up above .01.
16519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple...Only for the early adopters? on: September 20, 2013, 02:09:17 PM

then that's a real concern. anyone with enough money can move the market at will.
