16501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Great Day for Bitcoin. Cryptsy finally admitted theft and Mike Hearn rage quits on: January 16, 2016, 04:46:47 AM
I gotta tell you, I had a hard on for most of the day with all this bitcoin action.

I don't know Mike Hearn from Adam, but so long.  The Cryptsy thing is very interesting to me, as they were the second exchange I'd used and they worked very well for a while.  The story about getting hacked...eh, we've heard that before and I'm skeptical.  To put it nicely.

My nuts weren't sagging today.  I bought bitcoin.
16502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Farewell to Mike Hearn on: January 16, 2016, 04:41:04 AM
" it is a terrible tragedy that our community descended into the murky swamps of censorship and personal attacks."

Lol, was he ever a member of bitcointalk?

The rest of it was TL;DR.  I have a very short attention span thanks to years of eating paint chips.
16503  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm dumping my bitcoins so you should on: January 16, 2016, 04:37:42 AM
You are right man! I dumped all my coins at top, now I'm watching this massacre while I'm eating my extra salty popcorn.
I don't think 10$ is a realistic price but I'm gonna buy when it drops to 100$ for sure.
Ahhhh, this isn't a massacre but it's definitely a significant drop.  Not so sure bitcoin is going to drop to $100 anytime soon and that would be quite disheartening.  Could happen, though.
16504  Economy / Speculation / Re: The price is below 400$, What next? on: January 16, 2016, 04:35:51 AM
I think it's around $370 as I write this, which is back up from this afternoon.  It's been quite a weird day as far as bitcoin is concerned.

Is this price slump due to that Hearn guy's comments?  I actually haven't read what he said in full, but it seems to be that his words carry a lot of weight.
16505  Economy / Economics / Re: When do you buy Bitcoin ? on: January 16, 2016, 04:33:46 AM
I know I already posted in this thread, but I just bought some bitcoin using Circle, which is new to me.  It actually worked out very well--the money transfer from debit card was very quick and getting the bitcoin was very easy.  I think it's a good time to buy.
16506  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How Cryptsy can save itself on: January 16, 2016, 03:30:32 AM
Lol, it looks like you spent a good deal of time in thinking about what you wrote but I think Cryptsy is, at this point, beyond saving.  And the simple reason for it is that any exchange/trading firm/whatever has to have the trust of its customers.  It's that simple.  People have to know that if they deposit funds on the exchange or trade currencies, they're going to be able to get them out.  Cryptsy has badly violated this trust and I don't think it's going to be fixable.
16507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Netflix will consider accepting BTC! on: January 16, 2016, 02:56:21 AM
That would be great!  Netflix is an excellent company in my opinion and this would be very good for bitcoin.  Perhaps we should voice our support to Netflix's customer relations department.  I may just do that.
16508  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mike Hearn needs to make a full public apology on: January 16, 2016, 02:45:51 AM
No, we don't need to do any of that crap.  He has an opinion and the right to voice it, and said opinion's effect on the price of bitcoin means fuck-all.  OP you should stop trolling.  It's against the rules and it makes you look stupid over the internet.
16509  Economy / Speculation / Re: DO NOT SELL - 15.01 dip in price explained for beginners on: January 16, 2016, 02:44:29 AM
Yeah, everyone else is doing the selling for us, that's why the price is in the crapper.  It takes some nuts to buy when everyone else is selling, but that's what people should be doing.  In my opinion.
16510  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is just the beginning of the end. on: January 16, 2016, 12:34:49 AM
Wow, so many doomsday threads going on here.  I say that this is just a dip--a big one, but a dip nonetheless and I believe we'll rebound soon.  I could be totally wrong, we could be going to zero but I don't think so.
16511  Economy / Speculation / Re: VERY NICE MOMENT TO BUY. DONT MISS on: January 16, 2016, 12:27:54 AM
You're the guy who told me we'll see "Bitcoin goes to 1200-1300 within a month."
That was last June.
I listened to you, and now my kid had to drop out of school (she was going to Vassar) to wash toilets.
Thanks for ruining our lives, asshole.
Well the toilets aren't going to clean themselves, so it might as well be your little bitches doing it.

I agree, good time to buy.  And I'm doing so, though I'm not going to provide blockchain proof.
16512  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin (shitcoin) is dying on: January 15, 2016, 11:28:56 PM
Looks like it's definitely sinking, but this is bitcoin.  I remember watching the price back in 2013 when it broke $1000 and then fell back to earth.  That was wild.  This here?  This is just a fluctuation.
16513  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin goes to 1200-1300 (within a month?) on: January 15, 2016, 10:56:57 PM
Whoop!  Guess this prediction bit the dust, but I see this as a buying opportunity.  Everything's on sale!
16514  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the Future of Bitcoin ? on: January 15, 2016, 03:42:33 AM
Looks like Bitcoin has already failed and is doomed to die!

Just been reading this about the BTC developer Mike Hearn selling all his coins and warning of its fate...

He has now quit as a developer
https://medium.com/@octskyward/the-resolution-of-the-bitcoin-experiment-dabb30201f7#.akjw17yd5  Undecided

If BTC dies, everyone will move over to other platforms such as NXT, NEM, IOTA, Ethereum etc.

If bitcoin die all of altcoin will be die too,

i think he just want to sell his bitcoin and buy back at lower price  Cheesy
Nah, I think he's being sincere and is out of bitcoin.  I don't know what he sees as far as the future of bitcoin is concerned, but his is one man's opinion and I shan't lose sleep over it.  I am very interested in how bitcoin will react to his opinion, however.  My holdings aren't exactly enormous, but enough to keep me interested.

My take on the future is that as long as the dark markets are around and as long as bitcoin proves useful to gamblers, it'll be here and it'll get used.  I don't think bitcoin is going away any time soon.
16515  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: ALERT INVESTORS .... on: January 15, 2016, 03:38:28 AM
Wow, what a cunt he is.  Hopefully someone here on DT will bust out the red True Coat.  It's amazing how brazen people here are, willing to rip anyone off and blatantly and with impunity.  Glod help us all.
16516  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hearn's "Faith in Humanity Shaken" after People Awaken to His EVIL Plan! on: January 15, 2016, 03:35:29 AM
Love to hear the old-timers' opinions.  It's only been like 6 years, but 2009 seems so long ago in bitcoin-time.

My faith in humanity has already been shaken and that's why I don't leave my abode much.  I shall make this my reading for tonight--I didn't know who Mike Hearn was and why all these threads had been created based on what he's been spouting.  Oh well, people come and go.
16517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin is Dead" - Mike Hearn on: January 15, 2016, 03:30:45 AM
I mean this question sincerely:  Who the fuck is Mike Hearn?

I'm like part-time into bitcoin and I don't read a lot of news or a lot of anything, and I should.  But I don't know who this guy is.  Or why his opinion carries extra weight.
16518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who here has made a lot of money from bitcoin? on: January 15, 2016, 03:28:12 AM
I'm in the US and I'd say making $50,000 is a lot for a lot of people.  Hell, people are lucky if they make that in a year and I can't say I've made any money on bitcoin--yet.  I'm still accumulating it, but I'm always tempted to buy precious metals with it.  Well it is a currency, after all, but I won't be in the black until it hits $500.
16519  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: January 15, 2016, 02:16:52 AM
Has anyone tried to sic law enforcement on them yet?  I'm sure they've broken all sorts of security laws and the longer they are allowed to keep postponing things, the more time they have to get away. But I don't think they will.
16520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it really that bad with Bitcoin as Mike Hearn writes now? on: January 15, 2016, 01:20:33 AM

The start-up in New York where he has taken a job, R3, is developing Bitcoin-like networks for banks to enable cheaper and faster ways to trade assets of all sorts.

Basically, Mike Hearn quit Bitcoin to join the banksters.

And also he sold all of his BTC, what a joke... Why not invest some in an alt coin at least?
If you like the idea behind Bitcoin but you don't like the block size why not use an alt coin instead?
There should be plenty to choose from.

He doesn't seem to be that interested in the ideas behind Bitcoin.

I'd say because very few of them have a future.   But bitcoin is bigger than one man so this is ok.  The world will continue to turn.
