yeah may be better that way.

here is final video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvHlfQpNH38

I got lowest mode to remarkable sound levels  under 36db.

This morning I realized I have 3 s7ln's

I am thinking of doing a case mod of that case to fit 1 s9 board.

and using a single delta fan as a push.  I have 8 of these delta fans

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Delta-AFB1212SHE-120mm-x-38mm-4-Pin-PWM-Fan-Server-Case-Water-Cooling-151-CFM/401711683311?

these are a bit faster and move more air.

should be fun.  But I won't work on this unit next week.
16582  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A1041 Review on: July 03, 2019, 02:22:16 AM
And like I said the last time I did large scale networking over 500 addresses was in a class around

10-15 years ago.  Since I am not the expert or well versed in large setups of 1000 or 2000 unit networks.

then the separate  ip's should be a non issue.

I did say I liked that you could easily see  every miner  since they have a separate ip. That makes trouble shooting better.

I will go back and alter my remark since it seems to be easily fixable.

Thanks for the heads up guys.
16583  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What to do with all the old s-9s. on: July 03, 2019, 12:51:56 AM
@ yankees

next year  maybe I will make one.

I think  it does 6 to 9 th on low 1 board. 350-500 watts
and  9 to 11 th on high 1 board. 700-800 watts

The issue is the psu noise it may not be fixable.
16584  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What to do with all the old s-9s. on: July 02, 2019, 10:54:32 PM
well  before the wedge mod  it was 40-45db

on lowest power. (3300gh)

since fans are just about the same speed on higher power (4800gh)

I would guess 40-45 db

give me a few minutes I will go meter it on 4800gh speed

yep 45-46db but miner now has no other sound proof ing of any kind.

quite remarkable 4800 gb 450 watts 45-46db

mod is under 27 bucks

2 fans                        = 16

https://www.ebay.com/itm/for-Delta-AFB1212SH-12cm-Ball-Bearing-12V-0-8A-4pin-PWM-cooling-Fan/182961677356?

1 thick spacer             =   4 for 16.00 or    4 bucks note: it is 7mm

1 thin spacer = 10 for 14.99 or 1.50  typical thin rubber fan spacer about 2 mm

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073XJLBGJ

1 roll of silver/foam     = 3   you can do 6 miners with an 18 dollar roll.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Frost-King-0-125-in-Foam-Plumbing-Pipe-Wrap-Insulation/1081449

1 box of screws           = 50 cents        you can do 12 with a 6 dollar box

1 box of washers         = 50 cents        you can do 12 with a 6 dollar box

2 pieces of scrap wood = free

about 26 bucks for mod

fans......... 16.00
spacers....   5.50
foam........   3.00
screws......    .50
washers....    .50
scrap wood... free

total--------25.50

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ztc7XIX_Jtg

second video.

at lowest hash of 3300 it is 330 watts

at higher hash of 4800 it is 455 watts

actually more efficient at high setting since the fans and controller pull down number more on the low setting

I would guess  fans are doing .6 amps x 12 x 2 on low setting = 15 watts plus controller is 20 so 35 watts plus hash board is so low that it does not make effective efficiency  but it is really quiet with fans lower.

I would guess fans are doing .7 amps x 12 x2 on high setting = 17 watts plus controller is 20 so 37 watts

really happy with these on dec firmware.

find some good fans for yourself.  like the deltas I linked.

__________>>>>>>>hashboard >>______________________________

I am going to fully flesh out the s-9 build  adding the shim and foam mods.

first youtube video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rzkub23R8QU

damn   look at these guis'

middle board no wedges just the 25mm delta fans

wedge board mod   7c temp drop!  and good fan drop under 40db!

even able to run LPM  getting 4.5th with good fans and temps!

16587  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Buysolar and I will getting the A1041 to review and demo. on: July 02, 2019, 07:49:15 PM
I am just getting bigger now. I know about subnets but in a classroom 10-15 years ago.
Real world 150 miners is most I have done in one spot.

the modem is verizon the router is verizon.  belong to the warehouse owner.

so a 5 port switch to my 2 routers was cheap enough and my 2 routers were also cheap. my third router will also be cheap.

so being isolated from the owners gear still gives me an easy 750 miners which is not happening.

I do have to say have a different ip for the avalons in my case is good and not an issue.

It is pretty much good and allows easy access teach one. up to 250 or 254 then things get more complex.  So is bad the right word maybe not .

That ring idea is good I will check it later.
16588  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Buysolar and I will getting the A1041 to review and demo. on: July 02, 2019, 04:30:13 PM
Found out how to hook up daisy chain

So I thought there was a problem with it being on DHCP but after setting up another one and changing the pool it seems to be fine on DHCP. When I switched the previous ones to static all I changed from what the miner picked was the DNS, to google's. The miner itself picked up an IP from the firewall and the gateway / subnet settings.

One thing that was different from yesterday was when I ping the provided DNS today I get a reply, yesterday I didn't.

okay looks like I got a daisy chain working.  so 1 port is used but  2 ip's

192.168.1.120
192.168.1.107

so this will cut switches down but you still need  2 addresses.
that is good and bad.

the good is you can check each unit and know if it is working this is nice if 1 of 20 units goes bad you know right away what is wrong.

the bad is  a router has 1-254 addresses  so a really big miner will need to do  some sub nets..

For me in Clifton  I have 3 routers

192.168.1.1-254 comes off modem and does zero mining

it goes to a 5 port switch

that goes to 2 routers

192.168.0.1-254      this is all sha-256 45 pieces of gear
192.168.10.1-254    this is all L3+        25 pieces of gear.

I could buy a router with

192.168.2.1-254     then run all avalon sha-256 get a router with 4 outports

1 port for a controller  laptop  and 3 ports with daisy chains of a1041.  easy to check and monitor
the mining routers can be fairly low-cost.

the bad  a router has 1-254 addresses  so a really big miner will need to do  some reconfiguration making address larger. I do not have that much experience in networks bigger then 500 units.

Others have said alter and make the address

192.168.x.x.x   which allows for many more miners.

vs

192.168.x.x

Since I won't have that many in Clifton I will leave that to bigger farms.

There is always something to worry about.

I have never been cheated by them in terms of zero gear sent after I paid them money.

I purchased from them 4 times  and received my items 2 times. I am waiting on 2 orders as I type.

late just a bit.
off spec just a bit.
poor BTC to USD conversion costing just a bit extra.
shipping cost a bit too high.

I must say  the gear does work well My  2 innosilicon  t2t 24th turbo have run since august of 2018 with zero issues.
16591  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A1041 Review on: July 02, 2019, 12:41:09 PM
Yeah I have the goespower   they do  turbo but my space gets wicked hot if I run them on turbo.

they run really well on normal.

2000 watts and 31 th  with no issues.

could you screenshot your   static settings as I would like to try to set my 2 up daisychained  and I am on Dhcp  they don't daisychain/
16592  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Two dead s9 boards a pair of s9 controllers cheap. on: July 02, 2019, 03:19:33 AM
i sold these to USA buyer.

I did not want to ship to Europe. I am in the middle of trying to track a lost package in Europe so I have become more likely to just ship to USA.

At steamtyme please list t17

At octomob gave you a merit for pointing it out.
16594  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is PoW Outdated? What are the Essential Advantages of PoW Consensus? on: July 02, 2019, 12:56:03 AM
PoW is a technical deadend , the majority of new coins all choose more energy efficient designs
Cryptocurrency is about setting money free from banks, governments, trusts, etc. to have this goal fulfilled, bitcoin encourages both producing and managing money directly by people,

 Cheesy
It started that way, but that has been over for years.
PoW mining is only for the mega rich as no one else can afford it.

When did you last mine a bitcoin block with one of your warehouses full of ASICS?  Wink

To be more specific and exact: energy cost is the basis of bitcoin value.

Interesting , how most countries like China, call it energy waste.
The Ethereum founder has realized that PoW is unsustainable, shame so many are blind to it.

I put it to you like this and honestly think on it before you reply.
Bitcoin Mining drives up the price for energy for everyone, say it hits 1 million dollars per 1 BTC,
So now they are buying the majority of the world energy and driving up your personal rates.
This means your usage of energy has to be reduced, so now explain to your girlfriend, why you can't take her to see her family, because travel is now too expensive, explain to her why heating milk for her baby, or even taking a hot shower or running a heater or an air conditioner uses too much energy and you can't afford it. Now ask yourself , how long is she going to stay with you?  Tongue

Pos is always piece of shit.  It is basically a bond with zero backing.  Worse then a junk bond it is a virtual junk bond whose value is based on pure imagination.

Pow is a hard iron gear based or backed coin.

Ie all the warehouses of miners burning power to create the coins.

What you simply don’t understand is the value of burning power to make a coin.

It is real that value and here is a simple example.  Niagra Falls  has USA and Canadian power plants.

When they are at peak capacity due to high river flow they have enough power to supply all the coin mining in the world.  Obviously that is not what happens what happens is many power plants supply many miners all over the world.

I consulted on a 100 mega watt farm built.  It was to use power from five plants that surrounded it.

And it was designed to run from 20 to 100 megawatts. It would run 100 megawatts when the power plant had excess power production and it was to run 20 mega watt when power plants were supplying power to other customers ie lots of ac on a hot day.

That service supplied by that farm helps each and every power customer using those five power plants.

Most people that say pow waste power do not understand pow farms can be used to help balance the grid loads all over the world.

A power plant like niagra falls does not shut the river off when the river is flowing high and hard. It simply used to make the excess power and shunt it into the grid.

Ie it wasted that excess power.  Pow solves a real problem when used correctly.

Every time I see a thread with people claiming pow wastes power I simply would like to say hammers smash skulls ban them.

The truth is proper use of a hammer to build a home or a shed is good.

The use of pow to help balance the worlds power grid is good.

So the goal would be to encourage proper use of hammers and pow.  Nuff said.

I have 2  on turbo they seem to do 2665 watts and 37th
on low  2015 and 31 th

next question is what are your psu small and large. I have 2 the same

I been too busy with the Clifton build. So I can't play with new ideas much.

But this thread will be getting some love from me.

I will drive up to Clifton and bring some older beat on s-9's back down to Howell.

I just put those 113 delta's into my s-9 heater project

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5160194.0

Neat little project

a space heater on low 335 watts costs $1.20 a day to run at 15 cent power.

with current prices  and diff this makes $0.24 a day to run at 15 cent power.

cost assuming you have a s-9 and a psu is about 25 dollars.

highlights are all good and it uses 335 watts at 40-45db
Once I add wedges I am hoping it drops in temps and maybe sound

Fucking 7 day Twitter timeout for calling some talentless blue-checkmark whore a “talentless whore”. Nice to see $10,000 again. When $20,000 ? Guess I’ll hang out here for a bit. Have been having a blast on Twitter trolling the ever loving crap out of BCH and BSV supporters.

#hodl

Yeah  BCH and BSV are not for me.

I keep mining away.  Doing okay.

Coins are dirt cheap for me now about 4000 in power for a coin.

I don’t need charts for my price predictions.

Where was this optimism in jan 2017 when eth was 6 $ and btc ~ 600-1k ?

I might be misremembering but wasn't Bitcoin over $2000 and more like $2500 in that timeframe?
