The main problem Faircoin suffers from is that the initial coin distribution process at the beginning wasn't actually fair. We all trusted the Faircoin developer not to game his own account creation system and award himself 50% of all the coins spread out over a thousand accounts.

Compare this to Blackcoin which distributed out the coins via the celebrated proof of work mining process pioneered by Bitcoin, which cannot be gamed or cheated, and most importantly is visible on the public blockchain for all to verify mathematically. Blackcoins distribution process is simply cold hard unbreakable logic that cannot be denied.

To attract bigger money to invest into this coin is going to be a problem going forward as word about the truth is spreading.

Hahaha mr_random you have always been a shill for BC. ON JUST ABOUT EVERY THREAD THERE IS LOL. you always seem to bring the distribution of the coins you bash into question, yet you always fail to realize just how poorly your beloved BC was distributed (99% of coins distributed in ONE WEEK of "celebrated" PoW! Most the multipools at the release were "invite only". Many people reported being unable to solo mine because of the huge diff jump right at the beginning. Just go read through pages 1-20 on the BC thread.), and that is why you see the games being played on the Mintpal buy/sell books everyday all day back and forth between big holders. You compare a 1 week PoW phase to the "proof of work mining process pioneered by Bitcoin"- what a fucking joke. "which cannot be gamed or cheated"- it got "gamed and cheated" by being only 1 week of PoW!

He is Mr.Random. I mined the shit out of bc when it came out. The pow actually only lasted 5 days. Why becasue the pos took away from the the blocks that could be mined and the dev never told anyone. You were supposed to be able to mine 10000 blocks each contained 10000 coins for a total of 100 mill. But since the pos took away blocks from the pow phase only roughly 74 mill coins were mined. I myself mined 400k I was the top blockfinder on greekpools. I love how Mr.Random says his was fairly distributed, no it wasnt. The man with the most money was able to mine the most coins since he had the most mining power. I held my BC when it was worth nothing waiting for its time to shine, its shined good and made me alot of money, but like dogecoin bc probably wont be the it coin forever. Besides its stupid to invest completely in just one coin its best to spread your investment over a few good coins.

+1. I am all about diversification. Which is why it is very annoying when somebody seemingly cant bare to see another coin besides the one they are in love with doing well. There is plenty of room in the crypo world.

Just sold my 1000 free Fair Coin for 53,000 doge, nothing like $25 for free Smiley

Really wish I would've known you could claim more than once, I would've been claiming 1000 Fair Coin every hour. Oh well, good enough.

I honestly don't see how this coin is that great... I think the price rise is almost entirely speculation, and looking at charts it appears to have hit its peak between 5000 and 6000 satoshi. Just gonna take a few big investors cashing out to crash it.

The wallet software being very buggy certainly doesn't help Fair Coin.

Funny how people talk down to a coin right after cashing out... don't want to see it rise above your sell point, do you?

Is it still possible to apply for the initial distribution of coins? Or is that phase over now?

Yes, it would be much better if we focused on Mintcoin!

Just upgrading my wallet to 1.8. I backed up wallet.dat and its currently syncing. I have well over 2million coins but for some reason its only showing I have 990 coins? Backed up, replaced the file too. What the hell is this all about. Seems weird not had this problem before

Once you have finished downloading the blockchain it will show the correct amount of coins. Were you upgrading from 1.7 or a previous wallet?
1671  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 13, 2014, 07:53:27 PM
Pointing out a legitimate concern is not FUD.  There's no uncertainty here.  There are clear patterns in the alternate digital community and I provided two good examples.  There's no incentive for subsequent investors to come in and buy BC when it's valued at $10 million as the ROI isn't there anymore.  Meanwhile the Whales, who bought in for pennies, have incentive and convert their BC into BTC or a portfolio of new alternates.

I guess you missed the "not PoW - no mined coins dumped every day" part? Do you think a single holder can wipe out 2600 BTC daily volume coin? At best there are guys with < 2 mil, the top wallets you see are exchanges, most of the "whales" have sub 500k of this, even less of these that didn't sell in the first price jumps. The multipool helps the spread and newcomers to aquire without investing money upfront as well as providing the buy pressure.

And why do you think there's no ROI left from this market cap? There's plenty of coins to overtake, hell even bitcoin holders are starting to take notice with BTC tanking.

Your examples.. MINT was premined with dev cashing out and VTC is PoW, neither of these coins have promo as strong as BC, multipool as good as BC, coinkite, just a bunch of people praising their flawed model coins in BC thread hoping to get some light.

Nobody is praising, but you are bashing. Mint dev did not cash out the premine. Why would he still be around working on the coin so much? The premine is going towards the Mintcoin Fund, android wallet bounty, and other future developments. BC is great and doing great, why not stop stomping on other coins? It is a turn-off to people like me who are invested in more than one coin.

Look, I don't go to other coin threads shilling for BC, why do you feel the need to do that here? If you are turned off by flame wars then don't be the one pouring petrol in the fire

I'm not shilling but when I see somebody say something false, I will correct them. I wasn't the first to comment. And you will see I defended BC earlier too when somebody said something false about it (the price being a bubble due to "low buy support" even though there is even less sell pressure).

What is the reason for BC to be so successful and MINT is stuck @14?

its simple economics pal!  Tongue

BlackCoin creates coins at about 1% inflation if i understand right,
MintCoin creats coins at a 25% annual rate currently
(these numbers are high of coarse b/c 100% of the coins are never going to be used for PoS)

Regardless, mint seems to have way too many coins flooding the market much faster than the community is willing to pick them up. Sure they're dirt cheap, but they just keep geting cheaper when they appear out of thin air so fast. Now we have all these crap copies like Ghost who wants to start with low 1-5% returns and jump to 20-25% returns next year. Haha, people are just outright dumb. Take an economics class before you make another shit coin people!!! What's this WhiteCoin? lol i wish our devs got on that sooner.. Black&White could be a powerful combination but its too soon for that and someone just claimed it for some yinyang copycat of black. o well. life goes on.

Its 20% interest for Mint. Decreasing 5% per year.

I have another noob question, how often do you need to do the minting, in order to get your interest.
Do you need to have the wallet open and staking all the time, or can you e.g. open it once a week?

You only have to open it every now and again. You can look and see when your oldest coins were deposited into your wallet, add 20 days to that date, and then open your wallet for a few days until it mints.

What is the common practice for minting? What do you guys to, have it open all the time, or just make the minting once in a while.
What if you don't open your wallet for a 1/2 year, will you still get your interest retrospectively?

I open mine every two days or so, mainly because I have been putting Mint into my wallet at irregular intervals so I've given up on keeping track of all of my coinage. I believe, since coinage is built on the blockchain whether or not your wallet is online, you could open your wallet only once a year and still receive 20% interest (as long as you left it open long enough to find enough PoS blocks). The only thing you would miss out on is compounded interest.

I was just wondering; how come has Blackcoin got so much success lately and MINT is still low in price? Does anybody have an opinion about that?

Blackcoin is having exactly the same period which Mintcoin had earlier. In long term view, price of one coin is absolutely irrelevant factor. Price stability is the most important one.
Why do you think all merchants are extremely cautious towards bitcoin? Because its volatility.
Good payment instrument must be stable. Until bitcoin stays volatile, it will not get widely used.

+1000. And not just merchants, but consumers too. Who wants to spend their coin on something if the next day its price might jump 20-100+%?

Allright, just got 1.5 mil of MINT @14, seams like a great price Smiley

Welcome aboard Smiley

Is it a bubble if there is even less sell pressure? http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/orderbook.php?pair=bc-btc&market=mintpal

Well, BC has 1% interest so there is much less sell pressure. Mint currently has 20% interest so there is more sell pressure. But as navarthelol pointed out above this higher interest leads to greater stability which is great for utility, and because of the 20% annual interest rate you would still make 20% annual ROI even if the price were to stay the same (and I am confident that the price will only go up in due time).
