1683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Which hosting or domain name providers does shady gambling sites use? on: December 24, 2023, 07:38:51 PM
Today, when I was browsing the service discussion board I found a thread created by a Hero member where he was asking about good hosting providers that doesn't require KYC. I didn't feel to reply there because others users have already answered the question and OP found his web host with the help of those members.

But something came in my mind after reading that thread that which hosting providers and domain name providers those shady gambling websites use. Most of us know the shady websites like 1xBit for their shady activities and we also know that they got license from countries like Curacao but does anyone knows that which hosting providers and which domain name providers such gambling sites use.

All those gambling sites had to use some domain name registrar that registered those domain names for those shady sites and they all need some kind of hosting plains in order to make their site accessible to everyone but the question is that which domain name providers or hosting companies allow such sites to host their domains or register their domain and renew those domains even if they have been tagged for their shady activities.
1684  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you want to see in casino reviews? on: December 24, 2023, 06:49:57 PM
From casinos review I expect to see users gambling experience with own real money. If users gambles with play money, or funds provided by casino, then his review can be called 100% objective. When you really risk, you experience is always different from when you know. Behavious is different, user is more cautios not to make a mistake, gamblers reads everything with more attention to details.
I guess most of the reviews are paid review these days but as a reviewer we should try our best to highlight pros and cons of a casino. Most of the casinos have many pros but they have some cons as well which most reviewers don't highlight because they are being paid for the review.

However, some reviewers share both positive and negative aspects of a casinos without caring about the payments that they might receive for the review. So far, I haven't noticed any gamblers who reviewed a casino by putting their own money.

But, I agree that if someone plays with his own funds then there might be a different story in a review then with the funds that are provided by the casinos.
1685  Other / Meta / Re: Has anyone here received bitcointalk phishing emails? on: December 24, 2023, 06:40:11 PM
Was reading 2fa topic, and thought crossed about scammers may now phish for 2fa codes, then realized I have never received password phishing mails in first place.

Have you?
I have never received phishing mails till this day and even if I receive any of those mails I won't read it. My  mail inbox is filled with thousands of e-mails that I don't even read and that's why the ones who may try to send those phishing mails will have to wait their whole life until I click those links.

I used to check notifications on my e-mail a few months ago but now I don't really view any e-mails and that's why I don't even bother if someone send me such e-mails. I have registered my Bitcointalk on my personal e-mail and I haven't changed the e-mail yet but when I think it's necessary to change my e-mail then I would definitely do that.

I don't think that anyone of us should worry about such 2fa related phishing mails because a hacker or scammer at least have some sense of mind that to whom he is sending those messages.
1686  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Is Trezor wallets safe on: December 24, 2023, 05:14:46 PM
im thinking on using electrum for BTC
and trezor for usdt but i want to know your opinions
I won't suggest you any wallet for USDT but for Bitcoin I highly recommend you to use Electrum as that's the safest and most reliable wallet for almost everyone. But, you should be careful when using Electrum because if you have already installed unknown applications on your system then still you may have some risks.

If you really want to be safe with Electrum then I suggest you to go with a Linux distribution as that's a safe operating system. You should first format your disks and create a new partition where you should install your Linux distribution. Once the operating system is installed and running then you can install Electrum and create your personal wallet.

Once you create your wallet then you should save your private keys, wallet file, and seed phrase in a safe location. I would suggest you to purchase a separate USB based external SSD as that works fine for strong those files but remember that only you should have access to that SSD no one else. You should also try to write your seed phrase and private keys on a paper.

Once it's done then you should make the system as an air-gapped system. With an air-gapped system your wallet is safe but be careful if someone gets access to your seed phrase then that person can still steal your Bitcoin. That's why I suggested you to put your SSD and that paper on which you have written your seed phrase and private keys into a secure place. If you take care of those then you should be worry free as no one from a online system will be able to hack your wallet and all your Bitcoin will be safe.
1687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Too Expensive For Me. on: December 24, 2023, 04:29:13 PM
The value of Bitcoin has gradually reached great heights. It has become impossible for a new small investor like me to invest in Bitcoin. I am a very small investor. $2k wealth is mine. Well does Bitcoin provide any opportunity in future that I can invest.
I believe $2k is more than enough to begin investing in Bitcoin. You really don't have to buy a full Bitcoin to make profits from Bitcoin investment, all you need is a share in Bitcoin and for that you can start with even $100.

I recommend you to follow a good strategy to accumulate Bitcoin with $2000, you should either go with weekly DCA strategy or dip buying strategy, both of them work like charm for all investors. I would suggest you to learn about Bitcoin before investing in it.

You should give some time to learn about personal wallets and how to save your private keys and seed phrases and once you learn it fully then you can purchase Bitcoin on weekly basis or by using the dip buying strategy. Remember, your own personal wallet is the best way to hold Bitcoin.

Your manners are showing me clearly that you have a Ph.D. in Mathematics. I thought my words may be helpful but nope who can teach a person with a Ph.D. in Mathematics. By the way, I won't promote any universities as I believe that in this age and time we don't need a university for education or learning. Everything is available to us through the internet, we just need to give some time to learn those things.

I won't ignore you or anything else but at least I won't be replying here anymore to shill this thread because many others might waste their valuable time by viewing this thread as it's started by a person who has done Ph.D. in Mathematics.  Wink

1689  Economy / Gambling / Re: Responsible gambling on: December 23, 2023, 05:10:11 PM
If a gambler takes a break and then comes back without having a new trick under his sleeves, it will not change his luck but the same outcome again. A new strategy to win or a strategy to just reduce his gambling activity will do if he is trying to quit gambling.
I don't think that a proper strategy would do much better to change someone's luck. Yeah, reducing gambling activity can have some positive impact on someone's luck. You know when we become mental relaxed and have positivity around us then our luck somehow changes but when we have negativity around us and we are stressed then our luck also gets worse in those times.

I believe responsible gambling is all about our understanding that how much time should we give to gambling activities and when to take the necessary breaks that we need in order to recover from the stress that we get when we lose. Of course one should also reduce his/her gambling activity if he/she is consecutively winning because over happiness is also going to cause much troubles later.
1690  Economy / Reputation / Re: How is digaran not banned from this site? on: December 23, 2023, 05:01:12 PM
There is no rule on the forum to ban someone for trolling and if that rule is added in future to the rules of the forum then a good number of users will get banned for trolling. I have read your threads on reputation board and to be honest they don't make much sense at all.

I recommend you to use your knowledge if you have it rather than defaming others because they don't agree with your ideas or opinions. Our own ego is our worst enemy and if can't control it then don't expect others to praise us because our own ego says us that we are praiseworthy.

It's not fair to call others stupid or use any bad words for others because you think you are better than them or because they don't agree with your opinions. As humans we should respect everyone and if we don't agree with someone's opinion then we should just disagree instead of defaming that person.

If you're truly a doctor then you should look at yourself and change your behavior because a doctor should not act like that.
1691  Economy / Reputation / Re: It is called Symmetrick, not Symmertrick! on: December 23, 2023, 04:43:12 PM
Out of curiosity, but how does one change his name? I mean, what stops him from renaming again to Symtrick, or whatever? I had read that it costs 50 BTC to change your username (for VIP), but even that is once. Has it lowered since then, or maybe even completely free after you reach theymos?
Like Z-tight said, that theymos can change someone's name without any fees but the user has to convince him that why changing of the username is important. I would also like to add that if theymos knows someone then he may consider to help such users by changing their username.

If I'm not wrong then Cyrus can also change the username of a user because he's also the admin of the forum. I'm not sure about it but anyone with administrator privileges should be able to change someone's username. If I'm right then who knows which admin has changed the name of Ratimov to Symmetrick.
1692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A good or bad way to avoid high transaction fee? on: December 23, 2023, 04:31:28 PM
It is an altcoin that is pegged to bitcoin price. The risk is that if something happen to the altcoin, it can be depegged. The real bitcoin are the ones on the bitcoin blockchain and lightning network.

I think it's the best answer to the thread and we should not opt for this solution as it's quite risky becasue we are going to be trusting an altcoin that can loose its value anytime. I still believe that the only usable and genuine option in such high fee times is to go with lightning network.

Fortunately, the LN is now available on Binance but still it's not widely used and we can't force others to use it. Even Hhampuz doesn't considers to open lightning channels for his managed campaigns to pay the participants of his campaigns via LN route which makes LN almost not usable as of this time.

LN is not adopted by many users and still people hesitate to go with LN. The only option with us in current network congestion times is to go with an altcoin payment or send payment with Bitcoin by paying high fees.

Here's his statement:

I currently have about 300 users in total in my campaigns, opening channels for all of the campaigns and getting everyone to get on LN to accept payments seems like an incredibly annoying endeavour and not something I'd be too interested in doing right now. To be honest I'd probably prefer to pay $100-$150 out of pocket to cover tx fees rather than that, lol.
1693  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in Bitcoin will bring you hope and gambling will leave you destitute. on: December 23, 2023, 02:33:47 PM
The reason for sharing this incident of my local elder brother is to warn users about the dangers of gambling.
I have read the whole thread and I can say that the guy is a gambling addict and his family should take care of him otherwise he will increase the debt by putting more money in gambling. Gambling is not dangerous for everyone but the ones who get addicted to it will face such problems.

Gambling for a disciplined person isn't that bad but when someone gambles without responsibility then the result will be like the guy that you mentioned in your thread. The guy might have thought that with gambling he can earn a lot of money and that's the worst misconception anyone can have regarding gambling.

I believe a gambler should first learn about gambling responsibility and he/she should also learn that without limits and with constant losses one can get addicted to gambling and an addict would try his/her best to earn money via gambling to cover his/her losses and ends up losing even more money.

Gambling is a good activity only for the ones who are into it for the fun part of it only, the ones who are into gambling for money should understand that gambling is not a way to riches and if someone thinks that he/she can be rich with gambling then that person isn't really aware of gambling.
1694  Other / Meta / Re: Signature Campaigns in the Service Board on: December 23, 2023, 02:12:12 PM
Most of the signature campaigns and the managers who manage those campaigns have been paying people with Bitcoin but due to network congestion the fees have gone to way high levels and in such times I believe a campaign manager should pay the participants in a alternative crypto-currency.

I believe that crypto-currencies like Lite Coin, Monero, Doge Coin, Tron, or some stable coins can be used as an alternative method of payment in such times. LN is out of question for almost everyone and that's why I won't mention it but it's also a good choice in such times.

As long as the market congestion remains the managers should be allowed to pay with alternative crypto-currencies. I'm more than sure that using the above crypto-currencies as an additional  way of payment in such times won't be against the rules of the service board.

Another important thing a manager can do is to ask the participants that if they want to get paid in Bitcoin and wait for some hours or days because of the huge fees of the network or they may prefer to have their payments in alternative crypto-currencies. I believe both of those approaches should be allowed and they should be applied in such times.
1695  Other / Meta / Re: BCT vs BTT abbreviation for this forum on: December 22, 2023, 07:08:03 PM
This thread inspired me a lot and now I don't prefer any abbreviation or short form of Bitcointalk, I simply use the full name "Bitcointalk" when I tell someone about it. I think we all should prefer to use full name of the site instead of using those abbreviations.
1696  Economy / Services / Re: Friendship service for BTC. Do you need a friend to speak to, confide in? on: December 22, 2023, 01:30:32 PM
genuine friendship
I don't think this means what you think it does. If you need to pay for it, it's not friendship. It's acting.
I agree with LoyceV that such friendship can't be considered as genuine friendship because a true friend doesn't need to get paid to be your friend. A loyal friend need just you nothing else and it's hard to have such friends these days and if someone as such friends I will consider him lucky.
1697  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: December 22, 2023, 12:17:03 PM
political games cannot be eliminated, especially in gambling, maybe the police will play with those who have a lot of money, it's just that if we don't KYC our personal data will be a little safe and most people refuse to give KYC to gambling platforms
Why would police play with the ones who have a lot of money? I don't think that police has anything to do with the gambling, it would be an out of topic thing. In face as long as we don't share our personal data with anyone especially for KYC purpose then we still have some privacy but when we continue sharing our personal details for KYC verification then there will be no privacy at all.

All of the gambling sites especially the known ones require a form of KYC these days and unfortunately we will have to complete KYC verification willingly or unwillingly. If you want to go for online gambling then be ready for the KYC if you're a high-roller gamblers otherwise you don't have to worry much about KYC.
1698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool Observer Topic on: December 22, 2023, 12:03:49 PM
dont point fingers at miners.
I'm not pointing any fingers toward miners, in fact I believe that they deserve to have some extra fees sometimes as a reward for their contribution to the Bitcoin network. The high fees aren't caused by miners, those are caused by the ordinals.

I'm not against the miners nor I'm against the developers as they're also trying to fix the issues. it's an issue in the network that we all are facing and we all should work as a community to solve the issue. I hope that the developers will soon find a solution for the issue.
1699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool Observer Topic on: December 22, 2023, 11:46:24 AM
Miners must be loving it right now!
Yeah, the miners are getting huge rewards in the form of those high fees and they definitely should be loving to see those high fees, but they deserve to have those fees for their contribution in running of the Bitcoin network.

I'm happy to see this thread as we can discuss about the high fee issue here rather than creating new threads about high fees every here and there. I think OP has thought a better solution to bring all those fee related issues in a single thread. Let's discuss about the fees here from now on.
1700  Economy / Reputation / Re: Darkfighter - A scammer who uses alt accounts. on: December 22, 2023, 11:41:44 AM
Well, he certainly does not deserve any forgiveness but having said that I am somewhat confused about why he seems to be focused on asking forgive for just two of his accounts. If there was a shred of honesty in his character, he would state the names of all the accounts in the industrial scale account-farming process (and there seem to be a lot).
An account farmer like him should definitely have so many accounts and the strange thing I have noticed is that all of those accounts have earned almost zero merits in 2 years and one of those accounts is more than 3 years old. I haven't checked their posts because I'm quite sure that most of those accounts were created to cheat bounties. However, it's strange that for this long the guy has been active to cheat the bounties.

The user has said that all those accounts are controlled by different people from same area which is another lie to hide his scam. The account Razib13 has been registered in 2020 and it has 1078 activity on it and I think that account is somehow important for him and that's why he's asking for forgiveness. I don't believe that an account with 1000 activity with 0 merits is anything important but the guy may had different plans about the account and that's why he is attached to it.
