How tragic that when this Paul Vernon character was enticing customers to deposit funds to the exchange, no one dug out his previous history and alerted the rest of the crypto-world.

What about these people I have listed below. Their names were at the footer of emails they sent when they would not let me access my account after 6 months of inactivity.

Were they also part of the scam or were they simply employees who knew nothing?

This Grace person was the "security officer" who my case was escalated to because I could not recall the answers to security questions. The idea was simply to block access to steal my coins, it seems before they scammed everyone else they had a policy of stealing coins from all clients that did not login for 6 months.

Paul Vernon was knows as "Big Vern" right? There was also a "BitJohn" along with another prominent character that I cannot remember the name of. How deeply were they involved in the scam? Did anyone actually get arrested? Where are all these people now? Surely not all of them have fled to China
16903  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitcoinat.co.uk - Scam on: June 16, 2017, 10:38:44 AM
10 months after this thread was started, the fake website has been taken down.

This scammer must have made so much money-for-nothing with the scam. So many people must have lost out because of the thief running the scam.
16904  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: June 16, 2017, 10:21:11 AM
Just checked my old emails and noted that Cryptsy scammed me long before they shutdown and long before most others were scammed.

I had problems logging in to their website at Cryptsy. They would not let me reset it. They ignored subsequent requests. A few weeks later I received a message from someone saying he was away on leave and just got back and wanted to ask about my logging in problems but even after that they did not allow me to reset my password and log in to Cryptsy.

How many years imprisonment would the owners of Cryptsy get if they returned to the USA?

Is it a fact or a rumour that he is in China?

Does the USA and China have an extradition treaty?

16905  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: June 14, 2017, 11:50:31 PM
Have to disagree, N00b:

5¢ restitution will make no one "happy."

I lost money at Cryptsy and I am very happy knowing there is the house and some other items totalling $2m or so thus far recovered. Hopefully more will be recovered.

As I missed the deadline to register for the class action my share will be distributed to the others and I am happy for that to happen.  I hope more proceeds of the crime will be recovered and distributed between the victims.

16906  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: June 14, 2017, 11:29:36 PM

I know everyone is murderously angry, but so far, only the ex-wife has given up HER property and lush lifestyle, not Perv Vern.

She lost her fancy rings & mansion.  I know, boo-hoo, but still....  PERV VERN MUST PAY.

I say quit ragging on the jilted ex-wife raising Perv's kiddoes (isn't that punishment enuf?)

and direct your anger where it belongs -- squarely on the shoulders of PERV "Big Vern" VERNON.

With Coinbase and Cryptsy lawsuits looming....YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED, LOSER.

I think investors that lost money will be happy knowing there is the house and some other items totalling $2m or so thus far recovered. Hopefully more will be recovered.

How much do you estimate the total scam cost investors? Keeping all the other altcoins aside exactly how many bitcoin did the owner of Cryptsy steal? Does anyone know?
16907  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: June 14, 2017, 10:02:47 AM
Hey guys.

I want to come forward and say I have absolutely no idea who former cryptsy guy is.

I don't know if they are trolling or legitimately used to work there. I am open to a PM from them to tell me who they were so I can at least verify if they are legit or not.

Also, I appreciate the kind words Gleb. As much as we have butted heads in the past, I respect a lot of what you say. I think some of it is bat shit crazy, but the majority of it is very solid. That being said, which of us isn't a little bit crazy?

I'm really hoping this class action works out for the claimants. I know lawyers are going to take 33%, but at least some people will have some closure. I know it is by no means ideal, but still better than nothing. I'm not sure how many people claimed by the deadline, but I really hope everyone did.

I hadn't checked thread in a while but just read through last couple of pages now.

Any questions I can help with, as always guys, just toss me a PM or message me on here and I will answer anything I can.

Hope you guys are having fun trading with the rise in btc.

Take care,

John aka Horus

From all the Cryptsy ppl I dislike you the most because all of my emails were responded by you saying we will fix this and u never did... all my coins are gone I sold my land back in 2014 to buy coins now I have no coins at all because I trusted the likes of you.

Please don't act all nice here you're just pissing me off ...like I hope u get ur money back with a fake smile.

Sorry to learn of your problems BagHolder010. The police have seized some assets that belonged to the Cryptsy owner so hopefully they will be sold off to make payments to people like you who joined the class action.

Unfortunately I missed the deadline but it will give me immense happiness knowing that those who got scammed managed to get something back.
16908  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: June 11, 2017, 07:56:30 PM
Yup, me thinks Coinbase is F*cked.

Don't forget this is an Ongoing LawSuit.

They'll pay out the Settlement to Cryptsy Claimants, kinda like a progress payment in Construction.

Too Bad they set the BTC Price at $330.00

Why does the Cryptsy connection apply just to Coinbase? Did Cryptsy not use Kraken or any other company? If so, can they be dragged in to this?
16909  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: June 11, 2017, 07:21:13 PM
With that ruling, there is actually a chance that many will get paid, the court discovery contains the location of the sealed DB server that was brought into the case and that discovery states that there are around 47,000 users.  The total value that was settled upon, based upon the locked amount is around 18% of the value of the sealed holdings that the company still has access to, so it would be silly for them not to pay that out.

How would that fit in with people that have not joined the class action against Coinbase or Cryptsy and did not have a Coinbase wallet?

On the basis that Coinbase was used by Cryptsy to funnel or defraud their customers and a judgement is made against Coinbase then what would be a good way forward for people like me who live outside the USA who hope to get compensated for Cryptsy collapsing?

I dont think this is related to the cryptsy settlement. This is a separate action against coinbase and will be handled differently. If I understand correctly, the suit is abut how coinbase assisted Vern in stealing customer funds through negligence. If that is indeed the case, you would not need to have had a coinbase account to have been affected, just a cryptsy user.

Please correct me if I am mistaken.

Your answer is here:   http://cryptsyreceivership.com/v1/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Class-Action-Lawsuit-Against-Coinbase-for-Aiding-and-Abetting-Theft.pdf

I missed the deadline for the Cryptsy class action. Do you know what other people that missed the deadline are doing to try to get funds back?

Geupper, firstly I am genuinely sorry that you have been a victim of a clipboard virus. I can appreciate just how much money that 0.1+ means to you in your country.

Secondly, in the picture you posted, you have revealed your identity. Do yourself a favour and edit that post, and remove the image now - its done its' job, and we know now why your BTC never showed up.

Thirdly, this is NOT something I do, but here, have 0.005 BTC on me: https://blockchain.info/tx/3168d430e747bf20b24ae38f2bdb5de28f2e76165f52b755e1062583d2c430f6

(anyone messaging me asking for money will result in a negative rating...so don't even try it.)

Good luck with everything, and always remember, when dealing with cryptocurrencies, make sure you are using a computer with adequate virus protection... That's 100% essential. All the best.

That is such a nice gesture on your part Zepher. Good to know there are kind hearted, sympathetic people out there who care for others.

JollyGood - useful information - but what to do next. I have lost a substantial amount to this outfit. Looks like its been going the best part of a year. Any course of action sugested?

Hi mintymark, sorry to hear about your woes. Check this thread I started: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1957242.0

It seems there are many things you can do but the way forward depends on your country of residence. In which country do you live? I will try my best to help you.

I missed the deadline to register for the Cryptsy class action.

Which options are available to people who only have estimates about how much they lost when Big Vern vanished and Cryptsy collapsed?

What about those transactions that people can no longer 'prove' such no longer using the wallets and coins involved and having no backups of addresses?

I have not heard of any requirements for proof at all so far. All I had was screenshots of my balance sitting waiting for a withdrawal that never came.
As for missing the deadline for the suit... mail the receiver and see what they have to say

Thank you for the reply. What do you think will happen to funds belonging to those people that are not part of the class action? Do you know what options are open to people who are not part of the class action when trying to retreive their funds?

And what is going on with action against coinbase? In your view how successful will that be?
16914  Economy / Scam Accusations / BEWARE: bitcoinat.co.uk and asmoney.com on: June 08, 2017, 02:04:43 PM
Hi All,

BEWARE OF TRADING WITH ASMONEY.COM AND BITCOINAT.CO.UK BECAUSE THEY ARE OWNED BY "REGISTERED COMPANIES" THAT HAVE BEEN STRUCK OFF THE REGISTER LIST AND DO NOT EXIST ANY MORE!

Both of these websites are owned by "companies" registered in the UK, both are using exactly the same registered address for their "agent" at the legal regsitrar. Both companies have been struck off the register list so do not trade on those websites. Both companies have a sole director/owner who is listed as born in November 1949 (no day provided) and 17th December 1949 respectively. One Lithuanian and one British.

If you have lost money at their hands, write to them as a legal formality asking for a refund and then

After some research I found the following with regards to ASMONEY.COM and BITCOINAT.CO.UK

A quick search shows "Bitcoin AT LTD" does not exist in the UK, it was not registered. "BITCOIN ARBITRAGE TRADING LIMITED" was registered on 4th January 2016 and was dissolved on 13th June 2017 (that is the date the strike off will go through). The registered company number is the same for Bitcoin AT Ltd and Bitcoin Arbitrage Trading Ltd - they are effectively one and the same and own the bitcoinat.co.uk website:

- Their copyright footer shows 2016
- Their SSL was issued on 30th August 2016, it will expire on 31st August 2017
- Their "company" has been struck off (no longer valid) as of 13th June 2017

I visited asmoney.com and decided to contact them. I used both telephone numbers on their website. One number is not connecting the other claims they know nothing about asmoney.com saying it the wrong number.  They do not respond to emails.

I decided to do some research and found these points to note:

- Their copyright notice at the footer of the website shows 2014
- Their FAQ shows: Asmoney is a trademark of AMN Technologies Ltd registered in the United Kingdom under the registry number 8801297
- That company was closed down or stuck off the register on 31st May 2016 but asmoney.com website is still showing it as its owners
- Even though the company was struck off a year ago, their SSL certificate was renewed last month in May 2017

The sole director/shareholder of AMN Technologies Ltd is a Lithuanian who is also the sole shareholder/director of another company: VODANET BRITISH LTD

THESE WEBISTES ARE OWNED BY COMPANIES THAT SIMPLY NO LONGER EXIST AND HAVE BEEN STRUCK OFF/DISSOLVED AT THE UK REGISTRAR

BOTH COMPANIES (BOTH WEBSITES) HAVE USED THE SAME REGISTERING AGENT WHEN REGISTERING THE "COMPANIES"

BOTH THE COMPANIES (BOTH WEBSITES) HAVE THE SAME "REGISTERED TRADING ADDRESS" WHERE THEIR BUSINESSES ARE LEGALLY REGISTERED

MY ADVICE IS TO COMPLETELY AVOID THESE TWO WEBSITES!

I was going to start a new thread but after a search engine query found this old one so posted a message here.

You knew you were gonna do this, that's why you perfectly remained anonymous.
Anyway, thanks for the wishes.

My pleasure but you did not reply to points raised.

Please do reply to the following so other potential investors know more about your business:

In order to raise your profile and have potential investors in to actual investors, please explain in detail:

1. exactly how much the legal fees will be for the partnership paperwork

2. how you intend to set up the company offshore and in which country and associated costs

3. you said via a PM that the first years hosting will effectively be free. Social media marketing is free. What is the exact amount of funding you are looking for and where will it be spent?

4. you also said via a PM that you were working on this project full time therefore had no income and asked when I would actually invest. You did not ask directly but alluded to wanting some money as a means to compensate you for the time you have already put in to the business. I made it clear I would consider investing when a tangible website was created.

5. why you will use the UK as a base for the card issues and who will you be dealing with? what are associated costs for prepaid visa and also what safety protocols on the server do you intend to place? will this lead to a second round of funding?

6. you said via PM that you will not run your own daemon and will you the blockchain to verify transactions, please explain the process of generating wallets as per your business

7. how your customers will interact with your admin team when they have questions or issues (support desk, email, related costs if any)

8. your dashboard website is an AdminLTE free template, will you continue to use AdminLTE or migrate to a better UI system?

If you answer these questions clearly it will allow potential investors to decide if they want to invest in this business or not. It will also allow them to come back with questions of their own.
16919  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Start Up Exchange Costs on: June 08, 2017, 10:21:29 AM
@ DayVid_GI_DEV
Many thanks for the reply. I would not like to launch an altcoin as I see no reason because the market is saturated. Even if there is a 'good cause' behind the project (there have so many in the past) the reality is it is all about making money and most of that money is made when exchanging the altcoin for bitcoin. Sure I would never like to go through an ordeal like MtGox but no harm in trying to ascertain the set-up costs of an exchange nowadays.

@ tinyteapot
Thank you. I will send a PM
16920  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Development In Progress: Instant Visa Virtual Card Creation And Load With BTC on: June 08, 2017, 10:10:42 AM
If you check the business summary at a glance, you will see a business model of Wallet, Virtual cards, and Peer to peer trading (like paxful). Presently no site does the 3 at once.

And i also said, few months after launch the site will turn into a Cryptocurrency Payment processor and create public APIs but now we focusing only on Bitcoin.

Yes, there are competitors, but we widening our product offers, so we can be recognized in major Cryptocurrency business and solution. But it all starts from a block.

I think a lot investors will be needing all sorts of assurances about any business before investing.

In your case, please advise potential investors here about the legal frame work for investing.

As you mentioned to me via PMs and tawk.to/frankaiktechnologies, you are based in Nigeria. Many potential investors will reside in Europe or the US/Canada.

In order to raise your profile and have potential investors in to actual investors, please explain in detail:

1. exactly how much the legal fees will be for the partnership paperwork

I was one of the ones who has seen the under construction demo of this project and can say that though the idea has potential, I have concluded the development has been very slow and cannot recommend it to anyone either. I have decided I will not be investing.

AikFrank I wish you success with your business, hope it goes well and makes you and your investors super rich.
