Pretty decent I reckon. Had a few days last week to just almost finish up the BM1384 Terminus redesign. I need to give it a once-over, double-check the layout before sending off for boards but I'm hoping to do that this week.

Problem is, Saturday night I got a huge ASAP cable order that's eating all the time I had padded into this week for doing that and a few prep projects I wanted to get done to speed up 2Pac manufacture now that my helper left. MacEntyre doubled his order, and Batch 3 PCBs arrive next week, so even without Terminus stuff or cables or any other projects, I have work lined up until about August.

Check back soon though. I've got four Terminus pod PCBs I'm going to try and retrofit with the new buck module I've got working. Once they're functional I'm planning to auction them off here to help raise money for a friend's medical bills.

People calling them "compaq" has been frustrating me for two years.

If you got it from eyeboot, your first point of contact for service is eyeboot.

That goes for anyone who bought from a reseller. That person got your money so that person has an obligation to you as a customer. If the seller drops the ball I'll pick it up but the seller bears the responsibility of his own customer service so take full advantage of that. Honestly most of 'em are making a lot more profit than I am so they definitely owe it to their customers to have good customer service.

Manufacture starts this week.

No, that's still incorrect.

Yes, you are wrong. About pretty much everything. Read the first post.

No, mining on anything other that ASIC hardware will be too power-inefficient to be worth messing with.

Oh wait you're probably wanting to build a GPU rig to mine altcoins.

Might try asking in the altcoins section, where GPU rig building is a frequent subject of discussion.
1708  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) Hotmine X5 upgrade kit for Antminer S1/S3/S5 on: June 03, 2017, 09:54:06 PM
Why not say the S3s are better? S3 is probably the most well-thought-out miner yet built by any company. Simple, reliable, solid, quiet. Everything everything these days is not.

Also, I've still got a whole stack of S5 beaglebones right now and will probably have a whole stack more for anyone who gets one of these kits.

Before I set up my powered hub for testing, back with the first batch of Compacs, I was using a 6-foot USB extension off an old Dell laptop to test everything. That cable would drop about 800mV at 1A draw but it'd do it. Occasionally when something went wrong I'd see a spike of about 2A off the port before it'd be disabled in hardware and require a restart. I like my system better now, it's much more resilient, but I was surprised a laptop I bought used for $10 would have that stout a port, with protection.
1710  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: May 31, 2017, 07:00:18 PM
Step 1 - download VH's cgminer from the 2Pac thread. It's got better support for Compacs as a side effect of the 2Pac being built from the original Compac design.

Step 2 - learn a bit more about what the volt-setting pot does. Also look into what the default operating frequenc is if you don't specify one; this is software-dependent.

Step 3 - Windows 10 sucks and you should probably get rid of it.

Groovy. I should have a couple spares sometime next week, I'll send 'em to ya.

Looks like Phil's got prizes covered for this round. Tell you what, if you want to keep the contest running I'll toss in some 2Pacs for future rounds.
1713  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC Hardware: Is it possible to DIY or Assemble a custom rig? on: May 31, 2017, 01:30:29 AM
If I can ever get my Bitfury S5 refit boards designed, those would mount up natively to C1 waterblocks. I was hoping to be done by now but I've been so backed up with other things I've barely even started on Bitfury stuff.
1714  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: May 30, 2017, 09:47:32 PM
I do all my testing at kano.is right now, but mostly that was because solo stopped working at my location. Course it was my own fault and that's long since resolved, I just haven't changed all the various scripts back over but I've been meaning to start pointing stuff at ckpool.

I've finally got time to work on the updated Terminus layout between 2Pac batches, so hopefully in a few weeks there's more of those can be pointed there as well.

Regarding voltage issues - no, I don't think the pot's busted. If the wiper's wiped out it should default to peak 1.6V, if the pot's disconnected somehow it'd jump to 2.0V. I can't really think of a condition where you'd see less than about 500mV across the string if the buck is working at all. Could be the buck controller somehow got nuked, or a different part busted off.

Also, a reminder for folks who might have missed it.

Okay, new rules for purchasing.

I don't know how many times it's been stated that sales are open. It will be very well-known if sales are closed. So I will no longer respond to the question "are sales still open?"

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, but past a certain squeakiness threshold the wheel gets discarded. To this end, I will no longer respond to multiple identical purchasing requests sent within the same 12-hour period. If you want something, ask for it and be patient. Impatience is annoying.

I'm a builder, not a babysitter, so I won't sell to people who haven't done their homework. If you can't correctly identify the thing you want (for example, there is no "gekko stick", no "compaq" and no "2 pack") I'm just going to ignore you.

I really really like the parts of my job that are designing and building stuff. I really really don't like the parts of my job that are nickel-and-dime sales to chumps with bad spelling, so I'm just going to cut that part out. I like money but I don't like being annoyed all the time by other people. So if you want something, find out for yourself the sales status, find out its actual name, and politely ask for it one time. If you can't do that, go bother a reseller.

If you're mining solo and the luckiest person ever, 12.5
If you're mining in a pool and have average luck, somewhere between zero and just-almost-zero.
1717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on: May 28, 2017, 01:44:44 PM
Can we get a sticky thread that just says "If your question is about GPUs, you're in the wrong place"?
1718  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: May 27, 2017, 10:26:53 PM
I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest using the search function up there, because I'm also sure that question has been asked and answered twice, maybe three times already. Leastways if the problem is what I think it is.
1719  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: May 25, 2017, 04:56:23 PM
Probably gonna want to look up a thing called "batch files".

I believe you. The South Africa postal system, at least for packages from the US, has been reliably terrible. We had a guy a few years ago wait three months - with multiple calls with all available information - for a box of PSU kits. If the guy who paid for fast shipping just got his a couple days ago, no idea where the slow shipping package is. They shipped at the same time.
