1701  Economy / Economics / Re: Will you further your degree from school, or learn a new skill after college? on: November 02, 2022, 09:50:26 AM
Acquiring a skill cannot be overemphasized. The world we live in is changing quickly and drastically. A college degree is good and furthering your education is also great.
But in this ever changing times we live in today, a college education will only get you so far. And that’s why we need to acquire a basic skill to add to your degree.

A skill is an added advantage when applying for any job and employees look out for applicants with skills. Having a relevant skill would greatly increase your chances when applying for jobs and there’s no loss in acquiring a skill.

1704  Economy / Economics / Planning on: October 30, 2022, 05:34:13 PM
Planning is a very important tool and a very essential managerial function. It’s no wonder it’s there amongst the managerial functions and the first function at that.
Planning as an activity never ends and is very important in the management circles as well as in our everyday lives.

Wikipedia defines planning as “the process of thinking regarding the activities required to achieve a desired goal”.

I would define planning as the process in which goals are set, thoughts and actions on how best to achieve the set goals are deliberated upon, the best course of action is chosen and then comes how best to implement the chosen course of action effectively and efficiently.

Planning cannot be said to be overrated as planning is essential in both the workplace and the home. Also very essential in the running and management of a business organization.

Here are some of the benefits of planning in the workplace.
1. Planning facilitates control: Control, also being a management function is essential and very important in an organization and a good plan helps keep everything and everyone running optimally

2. Planning helps solve foreseeable problems: With planning, problems that would be likely to arise during the course of the business year would be prepared for, easily avoided or solved with ease

3. Planning facilitates creativity and innovation in employees: With planning, thoughts and ideas are brought forward and the best is chosen. This would awaken creativity and innovation in employees that are tasked with bringing up ideas

4. Efficient use of resources: Planning helps ensure that scarce valuable resources(both human and material) are efficiently and optimally, thus eliminating waste.

5. Planning brings about commitment: Employees following a good and well structured plan would be committed to the job in order to help achieve the organizational goal.

As with benefits, there are also some cons to planning.
1. Rigidity: A plan can be said not to be flexible but rigid and this could be disastrous as employees in the workplace might feel bound to follow the laid down plan even if they know it might not work

2. Unforeseen problems: Unforeseen problems that may arise may very well not be handled effectively cause these problems weren’t foreseen and weren’t planned for.

3. Control: Control can also be said to be a disadvantage of planning. While a certain level of control is needed in the workplace, some employees may frown at being controlled and some perform better unsupervised or in a less controlled environment.

4. An effective and efficient plan can very well be time and cost consuming.

On a personal note; planning is more advantageous as it’s an essential process that we must all indulge in for if we fail to plan, we’ve already planned to fail.
1705  Economy / Economics / Re: Can A Redesign of A Countries Currency Note Improve Its Economy? on: October 27, 2022, 08:00:57 AM
I think the government has been strategic and is now doing this for a purpose. The redesigning of the currency notes isn’t to improve its economy, It’s to eliminate counterfeit currency and perhaps to mop up cash in the hands of some certain individuals(politicians).

All old notes would cease to be worth of any value by the 1st of February 2023 while the general election to elect a new president is holding on 25th of February 2023. So, perhaps this is a way to prevent or curb vote buying at the polls.
Some politicians vying for positions in the government would have probably stashed billions in cash to enable them canvass and “persuade” the people for their votes.
1706  Economy / Economics / Re: Can A Redesign of A Countries Currency Note Improve Its Economy? on: October 26, 2022, 08:56:40 PM
In recent news, it is the plan of the Nigerian government to redesign its currency notes. I don't know why such a project at this time is even mentioned, because other worst case scenarios that require redesign is left abandoned or nearly abandoned in total.
My thoughts is on how such a government at these time of flooding and inflation would think that by redesign the currency, such issue will be the remedy to the countries huge debt margin or natural disaster ongoing.
Do you think the effect of redesigning the nations currency note will be of benefit to the economy and nation at large?
Let's discuss!

https://nairametrics.com/2022/10/26/cbn-redesign-naira-notes/
I don't see how this is going to boost a country's currency but who knows who the government are really planning about this. I could remember once the Zimbabwe currency was redesign to the extend that the citizen thought all hope is lost but at the end they were able to revive there currency and make it live again.
It all depends on what the plan is and what they had out in place to make sure that the currency will survive if this is done.
I found your topic head very amusing and I chuckled a bit. I wonder if you’re really serious about the question in your topic.
A change in the design of a country’s currency doesn’t add any value to the currency nor does it improve its economy in any way. I think anyone with the basic knowledge of economics would know that.

If a change in design did have an impact on its value and on the economy in general, we would have every country designing and redesigning their currency notes. The most beautiful and skillful design gets to be the one with the highest value  Grin
1707  Economy / Economics / Re: Printing of money doesn't make a country rich but to diversify like a person on: October 26, 2022, 05:26:58 PM
One of the fundamental properties of money is scarcity. Money must be scarce in order to have and retain some value. So, if a nation decides to print out billions and trillions of it’s currency, it is making the currency more useless than it already is and soon, there would be more money in circulation than goods and products in the market.

Printing more money doesn’t make a country rich. A nation must first have several sources that brings in revenue; it must also export goods and services more than it imports. This would greatly boost the economy of the nation, thereby making its currency valuable locally and internationally.

Diversification plays a key role in sourcing for several sources of revenue.
1708  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what happens to bitcoin if the electricity and internet goes out.? on: October 26, 2022, 04:42:52 AM
Bitcoin should be the last thing on your mind if the electricity and the internet goes out. We would be taken far back to the Stone Age. Most utilities and services we use today are either powered by electricity or internet connection or both. So bitcoin would obviously come to a halt as with most things in use today. One would think it would be obvious enough.
Personally, I think this question is rhetorical
1709  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Advise to Forum members on PMs offers on: October 25, 2022, 05:42:49 PM

I will be glad if I can see a copy of the pm to know how the threats will be like. Grin

I sent you a PM, a letter that was recently sent to me unpleasantly, although, of course, I try to delete rude messages. From your disbelief, I read all the BOS, and yes, most of the letters began with a request to remove the minus tags, but in some cases people are intemperate. And yes, of course, all threats are just words. I know that nothing will follow them, in addition, some tags are removed over time. And other especially hot guys can be sent to ignore. I always understand that threats come only from weakness and desperation.

Threats are made from a position of weakness and of desperation. Most people who are quick to give threats are like the proverbial dog who doesn’t bark nor bite. Great to see you aren’t in the least bothered by those lot.
1710  Other / Politics & Society / Re: January 6 was all staged. on: October 25, 2022, 03:35:41 PM
You ARE a bit slow, aren't you! You haven't figured out, yet, have you, that I often post sites from people who might think differently than you do. And in keeping with those sites, I add my two cents worth. So, you play around with what other people think in demeaning ways.

For example. Your words, "You don't believe in 'germ theory'," are so misleading. How can anybody NOT believe in germ theory? It's all over the books and Internet, and in the universities and colleges, and loads of other places as well.

The point is, it is "theory." Being theory doesn't make proof for germs true. And it doesn't make proof for germs false. If germs were true, they wouldn't be theory. Being theory shows that the question of germs has not yet been fully and provably answered, yet.

And you shrewdly play this kind of game all over the place.

Cool

People do think differently, and that’s why we as humans continue to make technological progress amongst others.
There are opinions and then, there are facts which are ultimately the truth. No evidence points to your claim that it was staged. Was it also staged when Trump literally told his supporters to match to the capitol. Perhaps that was Antifa top secret agents posing as Trump.

1712  Economy / Economics / Re: Competition in business on: October 21, 2022, 07:09:46 PM
One thing that wasn't calculated when considering "competition is healthy" was the fact that not everyone would have the chance to purchase the same services or items. For example, at certain point companies started to stop manufacturing the best they could for as cheap as possible, and they started to create products that was the best but expensive for the rich people, and alternative cheap versions for the poor people. Same goes for service, you want to get a website made? There is a guy who can do it for 50 bucks, and another one who can for 50k dollars, not same results, and 50k can't be afforded by most, so we are stuck with bad results.
Financial capability is always a concern here, that's why there's a small business that are actually competing with the top brands by offering a cheaper alternatives and that's where the mass public are, many left with no choice but to deal with the cheaper option even if the quality is not that good. Every business have their own target market, many can stay within the competition while others can't, this is how business works and not everyone will always win.

Yeah, and I guess it's 50/50 for us consumers, if there could be some competition that offers cheap alternative and it's good as the original or expensive one, then definitely, consumers will go and try and maybe stick with them.

The problem is that those cheap alternatives will have to keep it that way, lower the price but the quality is still at par with the best. But as I have said, once they become famous or corner the majority, they started to raise the price as well.

That’s the beauty of a healthy competition. If those cheap alternatives aren’t innovative or good enough to meet consumer demand, it would close up shop leaving the goods with better quality and standard on the market. The consumer wins either way.

If a product comes to the market and attracts consumers with cheap prices but has low quality, consumers would very soon move on to the next alternative product on the market.
1713  Economy / Economics / Re: government hampers the country's economy on: October 21, 2022, 06:55:21 PM
There would always be some selfish greedy people in government that care nothing about the people and would want to greedily enrich themselves with tax payers money.

To overcome this, the people of the country must have a system in place that checks the actions of the government. This would keep them accountable and transparent.
Oversight committees are a good way to keep the government transparent and accountable to its people.

I highly doubt that this was born out of your personal experience.
Admittedly, it’s slightly possible for you to receive a business offer through a PM, I think your chances are extremely slim but then you claim to have received several offers, so I may be wrong Smiley

I do not think offers to rent out signature and avatar space are as plenty as you would have us believe and very few hero and legendary members get such requests. Your write up has no information and gives no value to newbies and beginners on the forum.

On your disadvantages,
1. If you do a proper research, you would know scam projects to stay away from.
2. I think a reputable and genuine project would pay for services rendered to remain reputable and in good standing.

But it’s always good to put it out there on the need to do your own research on offers and practically anything you come across on the forum and on the web.

I honestly did try to read all what you wrote but I gave up at some point. It was painful on my eyes to read all that.
I also don’t think this write up is in relation to bitcoin but I may be wrong cause I gave up on reading the whole thing.
While bitcoin is changing the world, mankind can not be saved by bitcoin.
1718  Economy / Economics / Re: MNCs and it’s impact on developing countries. on: October 16, 2022, 05:07:55 PM

4. Exploitation of natural resources: These large corporations massively exploit both human and natural resources as most of the profit generated from doing business in the host country goes directly back to the parent country

However, there is something that is suppose to be the responsibility of these multinationals that I have not seen in your list and that is that they are suppose to perform some social responsibilities to the host countries which is apart from employment of locals. So I don't know if this should fall under advantages.

I guess these social responsibilities done by the multinational corporations in its host country could be classified as an advantage. It think I briefly mentioned it in the original post when I talked about growth.

These corporations help with infrastructural development amongst others as part of its social responsibilities. In my opinion, these social responsibilities aren’t mandatory but are done to win the goodwill of the local populace and enable them conduct business smoothly.
1719  Economy / Economics / Re: Running a successful business in most developing countries on: October 15, 2022, 11:50:53 PM
While your guide book to a successful business is generally true, you should know that there is no handbook or a definite way to run a business successfully.  We’re all unique individuals and as such would do things differently.
Each business owner would have a unique different method on how to run a successful business. Some people would use unconventional means and still have a thriving successful business

Religion has not only become a tool for control; it has now become a cash cow for clerics
The preacher you were listening to is either being misleading on purpose or he’s a sham. Most likely, he’s both and he’s fishing for new sheep for his flock.
Lying and defrauding in the name of the lord. Just great.
