1701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Companies Who Reimburse Losses Stay Alive on: August 20, 2016, 02:59:23 PM
Xapo claims to have bought the most secure cold storage ever by having an actual physical cold stored bunker in some weird place in the middle of some mountains or something like that. If those guys get hacked too it would be a disaster, no way they would recover. Bitcoin can recover of anything at this point, but it would suck.
1702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: RIO OLYMPIC BASKETBALL (SEMI-FINALS) on: August 18, 2016, 01:02:36 PM
Australia vs Serbia (Aus)

United State vs Spain  (USA)

My bet is Australia vs USA in the final, let's see.  Wink    They both have many NBA players, that's why I prefer Australia and USA.

honestly speaking this is one easy bet and just to spice things up medals are as follows:

United States - Gold
Australia - silver
Spain - bronze

Spain is a better team than Australia in my book. Spain has one of the best players Pau Gasol. Spain already won United States in other matches so the team has a chance. Of course USA remains the king of basketball so it will be a close match.
1703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ETC / ETH dead on: August 18, 2016, 12:56:03 PM
They are the most active coins on the altcoin market. ETH is technical dead since its a broken project. When they go to PoS it will be the final nail in the coffin and ETC holders will make massive profit. Whales are accumulating in the 30 to 35 range and it may stay like this for months. Then of course we will have the idiots that cry about missing the ETC boat when they had months to buy cheap.
1704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Amazon.com still resisting the use of BTC for payment? on: August 18, 2016, 12:53:54 PM
Amazon is huge so you could argue that they are being cautious, but Steam is huge too and they finally accepted Bitcoin. From that day I knew that Bitcoin is going to takeover the world and will eventually be a form of payment in amazon, Paypal, Ebay, everywhere basically. It cannot be stopped.
1705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Announcement ;) on: August 18, 2016, 12:50:33 PM
Generally, I don't click these kinds of links before I analyze them. Here's the Virustotal scan.

This story is as legit as the giveaway was. You ended up being a fraud as suspected (regardless of whether we assume that this article is correct or not).

Lol why would you be paranoid of such a link? The link is hosted in vice.com, how is such a link going to pose any realistic treat unless vice.com itself was compromised which is very unlikely?
1706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: "A Solution Looking for a Problem" on: August 18, 2016, 12:09:21 PM
Ehh the problem is already there. Isn't 4 billion unbanked people a big fucking problem? I guess until the governments remove cash in the next decades the first world idiots will not realize the importance of owning bitcoin and being familiar with it.
1707  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you consider trading as gambling? on: August 17, 2016, 06:22:25 PM
The outcome of gambling is totally random, the outcome of investing as a certain non random aspect to it, where you can strategically put and withdraw money from different assets. Its very different from pure gamble in the casino.
1708  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko II: Betting thread on: August 17, 2016, 06:09:03 PM
Tyson is too chaotic and says he is sometimes suicidal. Unless this is not another act to get more press and therefore money, I think he may bef acing his first lose. He says he doesn't care if he loses because he already won. I think this is a marketing plan. I dont believe any top athlete does not care about losing or winning.

I think if Klitschko was 6-7 years younger he'd KO Fury easily. Unfortunately for him though he's getting older & is past his best now, Fury is only in his mid 20's I think & even though he sometimes looks a bit out of shape, even fat, he will probably beat Klitschko again imo.

He has high chances to win again. His unorthodox style makes Klitschko very confused about hwo to proceed. He is not able to do his usual fight and hide game of precise punching and annoying the opponent with his long arms. But I dont think he will allow another loss. We will see.
1709  Economy / Economics / Re: Businesses you can run from anywhere for under $1,000 on: August 17, 2016, 05:49:51 PM
Very good thread, I am always looking for ways to make income from the internet so im not tied to some physical place, I hate that feeling. So I would say $1,000 is more than enough, less actually. All it takes is a couple of dollars a year to host websites, other than that everything else you can get it for free, including the knowledge.
1710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Companies Who Reimburse Losses Stay Alive on: August 17, 2016, 05:47:15 PM
Im sure there is an untapped market on this matter. Granted, the whole point of Bitcoin and its major strength is the fact that you control the asset and no body else can touch them, but a lot of people are scared of taking self responsibility so something like this will find its market eventually.
1711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am Satoshi Nakamoto - Video on: August 17, 2016, 05:45:21 PM
Seems like a positive idea. The problem is being sure that the money from the ad revenue really goes to some charity of choice and not the guy administering the account gets all the money.

Also im not sure if people here would like to show their faces on a video. But the idea is cool.
1712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NSA Hacked - Bad publicity for Bitcoin on: August 17, 2016, 05:41:51 PM
All publicity is good publicity. Who cares if its some hackers wanting to get some BTC out of it? More and more people are starting to hate the NSA anyway. Snowden has a ton of followers in Twitter and he is turning into a likeable figure amongst the mainstream media.
1713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar , a failure ? on: August 17, 2016, 05:37:24 PM
You cannot expect something like this to gain traction out of nowhere. This will be as big as Bitcoin's acceptance on the common population, and we are still far from reaching that tipping point. Come 2025 and we will see where decentralized marketplaces are at.
1714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: August 16, 2016, 12:20:25 PM
Its mostly religious people that have problems with gambling because all those ideologies do not like the concept of luck and getting money out of luck. If you are not religions you should not have any problems with gambling and you should stick to common sense: do not do it in a stupid and addictive way.

1716  Economy / Economics / Re: Is buying bitcoins the same as buying stocks in stock market? on: August 16, 2016, 11:59:42 AM
Indeed, the whole point of Bitcoin is that you own the Bitcoin, it's like buying gold (assuming you own the gold and you are holding it yourself in your house and not through some 3rd party that carries the world for you).

As far as the market goes, it's like Forex on steroids, there's millions to be made and lost.
1717  Other / Off-topic / Re: China launches quantum satellite on: August 16, 2016, 11:48:01 AM
There is nothing to worry about. Quantum hacks are a science fiction FUD and even then, Bitcoin is already safe against quantum attacks. The big problem would be that the first addresses that never moved may be prone to get hacked in the long long term future, but if they do then oh well, bad luck for satoshi. We can't block the coins or we will see a ETH/ETC type of disaster.
1718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if POKEMON GO let people earn Bitcoin? on: August 16, 2016, 11:36:47 AM
It would be really cool if you could sell the pokemons for Bitcoin. I think the novelty of the game is already staring to die out. If they add bitcoins in the equation it will live forever because there is a stronger incentive than simply catching them for no reason.
1719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of Bitcoin on: August 16, 2016, 11:31:12 AM
The mining thing will eventually shift tide once the western starts being ignorant about the importance of becoming a mining mogul. The fact that USA and Europe aren't competing against China for mining power is laughable and shows how fucking stupid governments are about Bitcoin.
1720  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko II: Betting thread on: August 15, 2016, 03:32:17 PM
Damn this fight keeps getting delayed, it seems Tyson Fury had some kind of accident and damaged his ankle during training:

The fight has ben postponed to October 29, 2016.
