17021  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2018 World Cup qualifications, UEFA zone, discussion and information thread on: October 07, 2017, 08:41:22 AM
What a night of qualifiers. Wales and Israel had some really close calls on Giants vs Underdogs, and poor old Italy got shown up by Macedonia. Anyone who took hold on draw predictions on all three, or even handicap underdog selections would have taken home a big bag of cash.

Makes me wonder if there's any value in tonight's disproportionate match ups:
1. Estonia vs Gibraltar. Gibraltar is expected to lose heavily, but a draw puts you @8.08. Can add a hedge split on +2.75 @ 1.86
2. Luxemburg vs Sweden. Lux held the Italians, so why not again? Draw at @20.37 is very good value to me.

What do you think?
17022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2017-10-06] Hedge Funds Flip ICOs, Leaving Other Investors Holding the Bag on: October 06, 2017, 04:32:15 PM
That's why the method of conducting ICO token sales system itself can be a huge red flag. It used to be that pre-mining and large holdings by devs that would put people off. Now we've got the pre-ICO and huge early investment click and bait, perfectly explained by lopsided bonuses. Pre-ICOs used to be a legitimate way of funding marketing. Projects realised you won't find the very best promoters and/or workers if you're paying them solely in your tokens, which have absolutely zero proven value. So you hold pre-ICOs to raise funds to pay staff and promoters, fund a serious marketing plan that'll buff up your actual ICO.

It gets a tad suspicious to me when a pre-ICO sells out in 10 minutes. Count in the massive bonus (and the bulk bonus too!) and you've got an already wealthy investor get cheap coins. If you're a hedge manager with 100s of Bitcoin to burn... even a 5% profit on immediate dumping after listing is attractive. And why not? It lets you partner up with yet another ICO.

Brilliant too, since it's great marketing in itself, and encourages speculators on the sidelines to commit.
17023  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why YOU should really care about Provably Fair... on: October 06, 2017, 04:23:23 PM
In many instances people have posted "Provably Fair" on their site and they have no " Provably Fair" system in place. Your average gambler will never investigate further and they will just accept that the site is " Provably Fair ". I hope the more technical inclined gamblers will fill that loophole and test and educate the people who has no clue how this system is supposed to function.

Accurate observation. The same goes for "licensed" and "regulated" and to some extent even lowest house edge or best odds. In fact, if you stroll through the casinos advertised even on this forum, you'll find some glaring misrepresentations.

I definitely agree that Provably Fair is now the minimum standard. But players do have a rather steep learning curve when it comes to verifying for themselves if the Provably Fair mechanism is as it claims. For the larger sites, there are open-source tools out there to use but that still requires manual verification of each wager made. I admit myself I hardly ever verify my bets at places I already trust, beyond the first few I always do when signing up to anew place.

I also hear people can implement systems that looks " Provably Fair ", but once it is tested it turns out that it is rigged. Is this true?

I've seen at least one alleged case, which you can discover for yourself in this forum, where the system apparently would only show the seed if you expressly requested it. It's since been fixed.
17024  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Identity manager in the making - your thoughts? on: October 06, 2017, 03:04:13 PM
Actually, it's been recently said by security experts (by whom, I can't recall,MIT?, but the same people who are responsible for current US conputer security recommendations) that the current advice of "change passwords regularly" and memorise it are no longer recommended. Password managers like what you're suggesting is the new recommended way to go, since they're immune to keylogging and can prevent phishing, which are now the most common way accounts are compromised.

I have been using one myself for years now and it's been a saviour every time I've lost a phone or computer.

Fintech projects in this area focus on biometrics and device authentication I see but I'm not a fan.

What would be your product's innovation, though? I'm not sure how a decentralized solution could improve the manager I already use. Except that my encrypted data is stored on some central server I guess...
17025  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 💹 Coinlend.org - The lending bot for Poloniex and Bitfinex on: October 06, 2017, 12:43:05 PM
I've only ever tried one lending bot for Poloniex, and divided my balance equally between manual offers and automated. I ended up being able to make more with manual offers when all my offers that were more than 5 times bot settings were taken up almost overnight (60 days). Granted, I never did try again after those expired, and after 4 months I stopped using the bot altogether.

This is a free service though and could be tempting enough to try again, particularly with these new alts popular for lending. Any chance you'd add Bittrex soon?
17026  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2018 World Cup qualifications, UEFA zone, discussion and information thread on: October 06, 2017, 09:52:31 AM
England really didn't impress yesterday and if this form continues, I would actually say they should get knocked out as soon as it all starts. Nothing worse than to see teams just limp through.

Unless it's Syria of course! What a time for them, to draw 1-1 against the Socceroos. Feel bad for Cahill but seems like they can't beat their jinx from that part of the world. So remindful of what happened with Iran and Iraq. Now if Syria can just score once and defend like packdogs, they can live another day to fight whoever's waiting from South America.
17027  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core developers along with Blockstream are destroying Bitcoin on: October 06, 2017, 07:37:52 AM

Anyways i believe this will be very bad for Bitcoin if the sides do not come together and we actually end up with 2 Bitcoins. Could cause confusion, problems, and huge drop in price. Could set us years back.

If you really believe that, then you should play your part to create the environment that would be conducive to such a coming together. Both sides have culprits, playing to hyberbole and sensationalism to push agendas that become too personal. I have a lot of respect for some of the "core" people and their supporters even here on this forum. If you took the time, you'd see the most sensible are from that cluster.

That doesn't mean I don't respect their critics too, or that I think they're all angels.

Want an example of what I mean? See the title of this thread, was that really necessary (inaccuracy and lack of proof notwithstanding)? And do you see the generally thoughtful, unantagonistic responses?
17028  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-05] Hijacking Computers to Mine Cryptocurrency Is All the Rage on: October 06, 2017, 07:04:06 AM
Ok...
If people mine without knowing it it is not serious...I agree.
But is using coinhive dangerous or not?
is JS:Miner-A dangerous ?
If so...why does moonbitcoin or faucethub risk to lose members?

I propose it to my members...is it really dangerous for the ones who use it without over using the CPU?

I couldn't say if it is dangerous, but from what I understand, the script allows the clients to give users control over how it uses their computers. Piratebay's script, when allowed, takes 10% of the CPU power. If you look at the implementation on freebitcoin, for example, they also allow users to choose how much of their CPU will be allocated to mining, and how many, if they have that option. I guess this would be similar to the simple GUI of home computer miners like Minergate (you can set how many CPU/GPU to run at what capacity).

It's not a risk if you let users opt in (like those faucet sites are doing now).
17029  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: electrum wallet not received my bitcoins on: October 05, 2017, 07:43:00 PM
gave my adress to seller ( correct  adress, check!)  money withdrawn from account, not received by my wallet in electrum... there is no support or nothing in electrum, any suggestions?
 Shocked

Check and verify this step: Money withdrawn from account. What do you mean by this? If you are giving an address to a seller, do you mean you paid him to buy some Bitcoin? If so, there should be a transaction linked to your address already. Check on blockchain.io (enter your address) and see if there is anything incoming. Then, ask the seller to provide his tx ID as proof he sent you the Bitcoins.

Support wouldn't be able to help you without any other detail, so provide everythin you can.

I'm following this morning's games too, cold and wet morning and down with a bad cold in bed, so nothing better to do Wink Glad I caught your tip just an hour before the match. Plenty of one-sided games in Tokyo already concluded, even for the doubles in China, so have a good feeling for either Sugita or Raonic to win (or lose!) easily. Carles, might I interest you in Bitcoinrush? Consistently best sportsbook odds for crypto since their relaunch!

I'm betting only in nitrogensports. I'm highly satisfied from their platform and promotions  Smiley
Raonic just retired after only 1 game. Money back.

Haha, good on you Carles. Ouf yeah it's always sorry to hear about injuries. I'm actually so surprised Raonic won earlier games (and straight sets too!) despite his injuries. My wager was a push too. Speaking of Tennis wagering on retired games, I've read that one or two non-crypto bookies will grade relevant wagers as long as even one serve was completed. Not that that sort of technicality would make me switch, but do you know of any crypto bookies that have some partial outcomes on retired games? To be honest, I only started betting outside of football/soccer when I came to crypto bookies!
17031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: #NO2X - JOIN THE WAR! on: October 05, 2017, 03:48:04 PM
On the data posted by OP, I see only one Japanese company that support segwit 2x this November, maybe the majority don't support. Japanese today are the largest bitcoin consumer in the world after the effect of April this year about the legal tender of bitcoin in Japan territory. I have a high hopes that bitcoin's value still stay strong as long as Japan and South Korea embraces bitcoin core. My action depends on Japan's move on which side they prefer, wherever they will go, i will follow. My bitcoin's future rely on Japanese demand.

The Japanese (among others) have consistently shown that they are firm supporters of Core. I was also wondering if those two giant mining companies would start in time to throw in their weight for this November SW2 timeline, as I'm almost certain they would change the dynamics, even if by a tiny bit. In fact, even if they don't make it in time, newcomers like them will shift the hashpower towards legacy Bitcoin even post Segwit2x fork.

As it is, even those who initially supported it only did so assuming that that was what Core would follow.

Some call it blind faith, I call it pragmatism.
17032  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-05] Hijacking Computers to Mine Cryptocurrency Is All the Rage on: October 05, 2017, 08:49:36 AM
They're largely Javascripts to mine Monero at the moment, even if they otherwise claim differently. There's just no way you could mine anything profitable with CPU or even GPU power for Bitcoin.

Coinhive itself has reacted after Showtime became the latest site to get caught red-handed, stating in its blog about how it was "a bit saddened" to learn its clients have been misbehaving. This, coupled with Showtime's declining to comment, says to me that they did it knowingly. A hacker wouldn't have put it right on the homepage landing, either!

You'd think people would have caught on to this trend a lot earlier, since E-Sports already tried it with their gaming platform in 2014.

It's a legitimate way (if used correctly with user permission) for alternative revenue. I'd say sites like Wikipedia and all these news sites should propose that, instead of resorting to ask for donations.

17034  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈🏈NFL Survivor Pool - PICKS DISCUSSION 🏈🏈🏈 on: October 05, 2017, 07:03:08 AM
Well, I showed my extreme incompetence at NFL with my maiden entry into any sort of Survivor Pool comp when I crashed out at the 2nd Week. Can't even remember the team I picked (but I chose another underdog then). Checking on BitcoinRush, seems like just 73 players are left, so I guess we won't see a winner for at least 5 more weeks. Can't see stats for the paid pools, but I recall every pool lost more than half players due to the Opening Week upset.

My rather random pick for this week would be the Bengals to win at home.
17035  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2017-10-01] Roger Ver Bets $4 Million on SegWit2x Hard Fork on: October 04, 2017, 04:49:23 PM
Some say it's a bit embarrassing for devs to come out and play publicly, but then again, we're all human and entitled to bit of fun.

Actually, someone here already challenged Roger Ver to a similar bet when Bitcoin Cash came out, if I'm not mistaken. Ver duly accepted, and the challenger duly went missing. I tried looking for this post but can't find it. I'm pretty sure it was substantial, though probably not the 1,000 BTC on stake here.

Anyone interested in a P2P bet similar to this, do PM me:) I don't mind giving up all my fork coins for equal amounts of BTC!

As far as I know, it called bitcoin gold.
Bitcoin, bitcoin cash and then bitcoin gold, as Roger ver really sure that the coins on the SegWit2x blockchain will be worth more than original bitcoin, then the price of bitcoin will be rise again due to people will likely to buy more bitcoin to get free bitcoin gold, right?
Hold yours and be ready to sell bitcoin gold, the same story for bitcoin cash I guess.

I think that this crypto currency will be even worse (less popular) than bitcoin in cash. The fork, which was in August, did not really stir people. And this means that the fork in November, too, will pass without harm to the bitcoin original

You're right. Bitcoin Gold is yet another fork proposed and could even end up happening earlier than Segwit2x (end of this month).

17036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Forkin' Mess 101] What will be the real Bitcoin (BTC) at the end of 2017? on: October 04, 2017, 04:17:17 PM
I think there is less and less concern now (from my perspective as a really average user) for what the "real" Bitcoin is. I know it's a much more complex answer than "Bitcoin will always be the real Bitcoin"; the answers already posted above explain why this is true. Each fork that has already happened and is expected to happen claim advantages over legacy Bitcoin, but also have disadvantages. As yet, the problems of Bitcoin as purported by the fork supporters are either overplayed (Bitcoin Gold: mining cartels too powerful) or artificially demonstrated (BCC + SW2: blocks too small).

My simple logic is this. Can I get all Bitcoin adopters (users, merchants, services) to get off this bandwagon and hop onto another?

Thanks for quality answers. As promised, not looking to debate, I will try to remember to close this thread in ~24 to 48 hours.
Will the Civil War be completely ended by then?  Cheesy

Nah, not a civil war... since there is no loser conceding to a winner. Just the freedom to disagree or strike a path of your own.
17037  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Difficulty contest Sept.18 Prize a sealed Trezor wallet. Picks are closed. on: October 04, 2017, 09:33:00 AM
well  on a fun level  it just is not here for me.

these alterations in BTC vs BCC/BCH and next fork can no longer be taken lightly.

There is a shit ton of money  involved  well over 100 billion usd in coins now closer to 160 billion.

I think I will freeze contest and just open a discussion thread.  in speculation as to the consequences of the current moves being made.

If the contest is no longer fun, then I definitely agree with it being scrapped in favour for a discussion thread for difficulty - perhaps also locked and renewed after each adjustment.

I wouldn't mind throwing in some of my weight to help out with a surely soul-sapping manual task of calculating - but will admit here I wouldn't know where to begin.

Maybe once the thread comes up, we can all brainstorm for a different way to add a little competitive spice that we can also pay to be part of a prize pool ... predict number of blocks found by a collection of pools on a certain date? Predict the height on a certain date/time?
17038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The upcoming fork November 2017 (Bitcoin gold)? on: October 04, 2017, 08:53:29 AM
Thanks guys.

So, in any case people having bitcoin will receive bitcoin gold for currency plus Segwit2x currency, it just depends on the wallets that supports BTC and both new currencies, as far as I understand now.
Am I right?

You are correct Smiley Just think of a fork the way you would if a group of people were walking down a path. You reach a fork. No matter which path you and others decide to continue on, you all share exact same details of the journey right up til the point of the fork. So if you have Bitcoin, you will have an equal balance of coins on all and any forks that happen from the original chain.

When a wallet says it doesn't support a coin, it just means you can't use that wallet to view and use your coins. But if you are in full control of your BTC address (ie you have the private keys or seed) you can always access those coins.

Do refer to the threads here regarding the last fork that happened (Bitcoin Cash) on August 1 to see how people claimed theirs.

If so, I should claim the 2 new currencies, shapeshift them to a “known” crypto (BTC, ETH, LTC...) then back to my “normal” wallet? Am I understanding this properly?

Thanks guys for all your help. I am new and unfortunately have no enough time to follow all discussions going on in this world. But I am trying my best.

I really wish I can transfer ALL my balances to crypto, but still not the time yet.

That's entirely up to you. The last fork that happened (BCC/H), I sent all my BCC to an exchange and sold it for BTC.
17039  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiSignals: We're Back! - Arbitrage Betting Signals On Crypto Sportsbooks! on: October 03, 2017, 04:18:17 PM
Seeing as how I regularly dump $50-60 a week on losses, I'm almost curious now to try out your service, but a couple of questions to help me make my decision:

1. You provide a guaranteed daily signal of at least 1% arbitrage gains, what's the average %? I ask because I'm calculating the cost of your monthly subscription (a weekly one at 1% a day would need a huge bankroll to recoup the fee) at around 0.018 BTC currently.
2. Am I right to assume that just to cover the fee a bankroll totalling 0.24 BTC spread out across the four sites you mention be enough? So, that's 0.06 per site. Assuming we can max the bets at each signal, we can look at around 0.0006 BTC profit per signal, x 30 is only 0.018 = monthly fee.

Other concerns:
Costs of redistributing the capital across sites after each bet not taken into account.
Timing of signals. If I login only once a day, will I be in time to get these signals? How long before a match do you normally get a signal?

If these assumptions are correct, I would need about 0.12 at each of the four sites to see a nett return of 0.018 BTC a month, minus the fee. A bit on the high side to test something out but let's wait for you to confirm my numbers!

Looks like this sportsbook's been in existence for a while, or has at least popped up 4 years ago and only recently reactivated. See this post on goldentalk.com from August 2013, with user "nairaboy" promoting it to the Nigerian community: http://www.goldentalk.com/threads/wbet7-com-betting-instant-payment-with-perfect-money.79226/

Same newbie user posting here? Want to share a bit of history with us, friend? Payment method Perfect Money and ETH. Interesting choice of crypto to choose for a sportsbook.
