17101  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: PPS pools what is proper reserve number for a pps pool? on: April 25, 2019, 06:15:46 PM
I will leave this open for a bit as I think Dave F.  has discovered a weakness with this idea.

I want to give him some credit for this ideas are welcome.

I do have one idea if this attack was done it would appear bitmain would be best suited to defend btc from this kind of attack.

then the other top asic builders would be next choice to fight this kind of attack.
17102  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: PPS pools what is proper reserve number for a pps pool? on: April 25, 2019, 05:04:18 PM
DaveF asked me to open this thread. In a pm

Looking back at this thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5109937.0
We were talking about something similar at lunch.

Came up with the wall of text below. I don't know if you want to unlock the thread and have me post it, or copy & paste and you post it or leave it locked and let it just sit out there as is.

-Dave

he will be posting his refined idea soon.
17103  Economy / Securities / Re: LoyceV's Legendary 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Roller Coaster #2 on: April 25, 2019, 01:13:59 AM
I didn't make a waiting list indeed.

This looks like fun.

I am also interested in BCI staked.

It is a 0.00002500 btc coin

So 0.01 btc is about 400 of them staked.

They would. Gain about 40 BCI coins in 10 months or. The 400 would be about 440 BCI

Whether it would gain in btc or in usd who knows
17104  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] Antminer S17 Pro coupons on: April 25, 2019, 12:33:39 AM
Just to let you know neither one of us was deleted we were moved to digital goods.

BTW I decided to no longer seek a coupon and not buy an s17
17105  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 25, 2019, 12:13:26 AM
I would be extremely careful with it.
I have not looked deeper into it, how they've built it,
but I just want to say that there is a risk if you have two different circuits connected from two different phases (three phase system).
---> Phase to phase short circuit.

my pdus are all 1 phase 24/30amp    since clifton is 227 volts  227 x 24 = 5448 watts  so  i think I can do 2 on 1 pdu.

Singe phase is good.  but I will need mid setting not turbo.
17106  Economy / Securities / Re: LoyceV's Legendary 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Roller Coaster #2 on: April 24, 2019, 12:58:28 PM
How did I miss this?

If you do this again I want to pick BCI

I would stake it I have a lot of addresses and could help LoyceV set up that part of it.

Put me on the wait till next time list.
17107  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 24, 2019, 12:48:43 PM
The two plug feature is nice.

These units spec to about 3000 watts on highest setting.

So with two plugs max would be 1500 watts a plug.

It also looks like standard setting is 2300 watts. So two units use four plugs and shoul be perfect for a 30 amp 220 volt circuit.

It does seem they want 220 volts. With 240 max.

With a warning against over volts.
17108  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 24, 2019, 03:06:49 AM
bitmain support released these vids for the s17/pro

 dissemble AWP9 psu https://youtu.be/TWngE5712iE

setup https://youtu.be/1kIvVrvyzYw

dissemble control board  https://youtu.be/KZb96iTfcrQ

nice links   yeah 2 plugs  means 2 circuits = smart.

my s15 and t15 do not have that.
17109  Economy / Digital goods / Anyone have s17 coupons? on: April 24, 2019, 12:02:32 AM
Please contact me if you have s17 coupons.

Edit no longer interested in them.

Stats photos screen shots when they’re mining. Let’s get info.
17111  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S15 with latest firmware consumes 1900W in lower temp env of 24C on: April 22, 2019, 11:29:46 PM
Maybe you are experiencing low temp protection this might be the reason why you are getting unstable hashrate for the first run did you try to run the miner for a longer time? Let it run first for 3 hours and let see if you will get stable hash rate and miner consumption.

Next time don't upgrade the firmware to the latest version if your miner is running fine without any software issue. Bitmain releases new 2019 firmware that mostly fixed all security issue(Disabled SSH access) if you upgrade the miner to 2019 firmware the miner SSH access is disabled where you can modify the config and bypass temp protection.

There is no other way for now to downgrade the firmware to lower version unless if you decide to run them with modified firmware.

@ op  Never do a firmware upgrade  from bitmain  until  many people have done it.

op I tossed you some merits for letting us know about this.

You do understand a buy it now is simply an asking price not an actual selling price right? that's why there is best offer. You have ebay and paypal fees also . I'm an electronics store owner I get these around $100 a piece wholesale so if you will accept $200 ill go that much.

As I Said I admire the offer..

200 is close to what I want.

pm me your details and we can settle  for maybe 222.22 or a little lower then that. Say 219.19

As I rather not trade in the units  to get an apple gift card.
I have had them hassle once they get gear.
And ebay can be a hassle even if I get 475 fees and shipping is about 75 so 400 and hope an a-hole does not look to return them
17113  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) Antminer S15 27.0 Th/s, 1600 W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: April 22, 2019, 06:31:19 PM
Is it true that Antminer S15 has serious issues with its PSU?

No what is true is one guy blew 2 of them up feeding 245 volts to them.

No one has had any other issues and reported them here
17114  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: I have 1 ipad mini 3, 1 mac mini 2014 base model, 1 mac mini 2012 i5 model 16gb on: April 22, 2019, 06:29:31 PM
$175 for the others?

okay if I send to apple on a trade in

 I can get 150 FOR THE 2012
 I can get 125 FOR THE 2014

that is 275 in apple gift cards.

if I list on eBay the 2014 is around   250

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-Mac-Mini-MGEM2LL-A-Core-i5-1-4-4GB-500GB-HDD-Late-2014-VG9914/273800403358?

and the 2012 is about 329

 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mac-mini-Desktop-2012-Intel-i5-2-5GHz-16GB-500HDD-Grade-C-Warranty/273797601471?

so  total is 579 for the two  buy it now on ebay

I can get 275 in gift cards via apple trade in

and your offer is 175 for the two I would guess you would like free shipping with them correct?

If I told you:   you got a deal   you would be surprised wouldn't you Grin

In no way do I think an offer for 575 for the two is fair for the buyer.

and in no way do I think an offer of 175 is fair for the seller.

But I do admire the offer on your part after all I could have said yes to it.

I will list on ebay as the offers here are simply way too low.
17115  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 22, 2019, 01:57:24 PM
Last 10 hours UTC ...

Expect 6 blocks per hour got:
03:00 6
04:00 3
05:00 5
06:00 2
07:00 4
08:00 7
09:00 3
10:00 2
11:00 5
12:00 3

Expect: 60, Got: 41 ...

13:00 now - 3 so far in 40 minutes

No spike of S17s Tongue

You are correct .  Actually. First 24 hours we were plus 10% we were at 165 blocks instead of 150

Last ten hours we did 40 vs 60 bringing us down a few blocks vs up 15.

I posted my post without enough coffee in me. And looked at a 25 hour number not a 35 hour number.

Interesting swing +15 to - 3

Looks like S17's are shipping

Yeah I think some are up and running  as hashrate has spiked hard
17118  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolin Whatsminer M10 - 33TH at 2145W on: April 22, 2019, 01:01:57 AM
this is a dual row 20 pin cable

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FZWBP78/

pitch is 2.54 mm I think the dual row 22 pin is a tighter pitch

yeah  my bad slot was center  so swapping it left or right   works

I had a bad slot 1

It always stayed center.

when you go to check it  if it turns out to be a board let us know.

also see if you can measure pitch

11 holes x 2.54 = 27.94 mm  or just over 1 inch

this is close:

17119  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolin Whatsminer M10 - 33TH at 2145W on: April 22, 2019, 12:40:32 AM
well that sucks.  but  lets think it over.

controller

V
V  cable
V

slot 0
slot 1
slot 2

so  swapping the bridge did nothing.

this means

A) all bridges are good and some other thing is bad.

B) all bridges are bad and everything else is good.

What can we do on my end?  I have 8 working m10's with 1 bad board . Board is tested and does not work on any  of the 8 units.

but all 8 units can run all 3 boards.  as I have done lots of swapping.

If you send me 2 bridges and I swap them in and they work we then know the bridges are good.

Still leaves cable and or controller.

I have an un programmed controller which means if i send it to you  you need to go to telegram and have yang help you program it.

How about this send me 2 bridges I will drive up to clifton and test them.  I they work I will send one back and hold one as a spare.
I can also send you the unprogrammed controller yang will help you program it.

If it works  we know the old controller is bad.

If it does not work  we are stuck on cable or replacement controller.

maybe I can find an 11 x 2 pin cable    as it is easier to first test it.
17120  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Invest now? or wait for down turn? on: April 22, 2019, 12:26:39 AM
I have bought few cents of bitcoin last year thinking that there will be bull run as it was being speculated by many of thr users here. Yet, the speculated bull run was never happeb and instead it goes down to bearish market. I was just thinking that if I could only just anticipate the bull run or the pump that never happen.

Now, that bitcoin has slowly I have never invested in bitcoin. The moment that its market price was 3k usd was the best time to invest with but still I am afraid that it could go down. Seeing it slowly recovering to 3.6K-4K means nothing also to me. Now that it made a huge pump up from 5K i have regreted that I never invested in bitcoin. I have never been anticipated.in bitcoin pump.

I am Newbie in cryptocurrency and would like to start a small trading scheme that would try my skills in the market movement.

What should I do? Invest now? or wait for.another market down?

you should invest 50 a week on BTC for 1 straight year. Never look at the price and don't trade.

If you can afford to lose all the money that is 2600 usd this should be how you start.

Why do I say this?
To make money trading you need discipline.
If you can setup a 50 dollar a week buy for the next 52 weeks and never touch the coins no matter what happens you will have an idea if you have enough discipline to be a trader.

What do you lose by doing this?  at the absolute most you lose exactly 2600 USD.
Can you afford to lose 2600 USD?

If yes do this plan.
If no do not do the plan.
After 52 weeks assess what you were able to do.

Anyone that has never traded should do a one year plan:

maybe 100 a month for 12 months one coin all buys.
maybe 50 a week for 52 years one coin all buys.

The amount you pick should be something you can afford to completely lose.

You are doing this to test you ability to stay in check and be disciplined. No more no less.

The first and foremost thing in being a trader is to be able to do this.

Post back in a year and let me know if you followed my advice.  or send me a pm.

in fact anyone reading this is free to try to do what I say.

Based on my 62 years of age  very few can do this almost none.  I can not do it. So guess what I mine I don't trade.

As a miner I need to be able to find good power deals much much much much easier then what I advise the op to do.
