Yeah, he definitely is into it when it comes to recouping his losses  Grin

hey, the extent of my being "into it" has not changed since the very beginning way back before the price ramp.
17102  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warning: How many of you Bears have ever been a victim of a Short Squeeze? on: October 29, 2011, 03:08:07 PM
yes, even some of the old guard who've disappeared for months are returning and spreading FUD against speculators, hoarders, and even attacking early adopters not realizing they're the victim of negative psychology based purely on the low price.  at price bottoms when despair has set in, this is expected behavior; blaming anyone and everyone around them while advancing economic theories to explain the action that sound good at face value but are meaningless in reality.

but they fail to ask themselves a simple question; why have they returned?  they don't even know why.  its b/c deep down they've sensed a BOTTOM.  the price is too low and reflects oversold manipulated conditions and their innate sense tells them it is so.  what these people need to see is a rise in price like we're seeing now to regain their confidence.  what they're looking for in terms of confirmation is exactly what caused them to be so negative in the first place:  PRICE.  all their objections to the aforementioned groups have and will vanish in no time as the price continues to climb.

Soooo... should I sell or hold?

A lot of those Elliot Wave people (netrin) seem to think it's gonna hit around $4, then slide back down to around $1.  I dunno though, feels kind of rally-ish.  Someone tell me what to do!

as a dedicated and ongoing Elliott Wave subscriber having read both Prechters books and followed his trading advice for a time, i can honestly say i no longer emphasize or even use his analytic techniques.  track record is important and while he's gotten some major calls right he's gotten alot wrong too.

i believe he's right when it comes to his overarching view of the importance of the USD and debt. i also like his work on socionomics or psychology.

but in general, i don't believe EW applies to Bitcoin.

from TA point of view, there is nothing to talk about until it moves above 3.25, than we have higher highs and higher lows on daily which is what all the money on sidelines ultimately are waiting for. (whatever TA tea leaves they are using).

is it time to talk yet?
17105  Economy / Speculation / Re: 9 days - 8 green 1 red - is this unprecedented? on: October 29, 2011, 05:02:42 AM
Another indicator is hater activity. When things look grim they come out of their cave to rub it in our face, but when there's positive development they're more hesitant to reiterate their doom and gloom prophesy.

oh Man, this is great!  made my day, Sir!

Don; ask yourself how would Donald Trump present Bitcoin if he was a firm believer?  then do it that way.

i don't recall Don ever smiling like that during the presentation; do you? Cheesy
17109  Economy / Speculation / Re: Spike finished, going back to 2 on: October 28, 2011, 04:57:26 PM
Sargent Spike is never finished!
Never!

Yes. And bought a some thousand coins at 2.1
Well played then, well played.

i thought a 50% spike in the price is bad for Bitcoin?

Offtopic: how do you generate those addresses with names in them?
Vanitygen: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25804.0

Interesting. Is this app generating thousands of addresses to find one that matches the searched string? if so, then there is collision possibility right?

Yes, and nearly infinetly no. Nothing is impossible but a collision is extremely unlikely. I believe if you browse through the vanity gen thread you will find the exponential odds of one. Its like 10^billion or some other astronomical figure.

that thread is one of the most popular on this forum and demonstrates quite well the genius behind Bitcoin mathematics.
17111  Economy / Speculation / Re: Manipulator Exposed! on: October 28, 2011, 04:50:45 PM
Why would mt gox. benefit from have the price higher?

That should be obvious. Assuming their revenue comes mainly from fees, a volume of 40000 Bitcoin a day translates to roughly BTC 200 / day, or $600/day. That's hardly the kind of revenue you'd expect from a healthy business. Revenue wise, MtGox is about as far away from the monopolistic corporation some ppl here believe it is as the bakery around the corner of the street.

the best thing for Bitcoin would be a slowly rising price from an infusion of money from either speculators, investors, merchants, whatever.  an infusion of this sort would benefit everyone including the merchants b/c of the optimism generated.  all the bashing of the hoarders and speculators would just vanish.

the reflationary wave is upon us.  everything will go UP.

mtgoxlives's connected = 918

somethings brewing...

I set all the university computers' homepages to mtgoxlive.  I think you're right that something's brewing, but it's more likely a bunch of people are tuning in for the entertainment of the exchange value falling back to where it started.

Do you really think it'll go to 6 cents again?!  Roll Eyes

I think a year from now the price will be closer to 6 cents than to $20 (probably even $5).

OMG, we get it, you dont like bitcoin and you want to see it fail...

Drop it.

If you put in the same amount of effort into your life and job and so forth, as you do in bashing bitcoin you could be rich..

have u ever considered bashing Bitcoin could be his job?

17115  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoinica - Advanced Bitcoin Trading Platform on: October 28, 2011, 03:23:50 PM
Speeder, as for 'melt away' I'm not sure that's true. At least not the way I previously thought it worked. The trailing stop difference does not get ever smaller and smaller. But whenever the market price drops the same as your trailing difference from ANY high, your stop will get triggered.

In my case, I bought at around $2.6 with a trailing stop .15 or .2 lower and it got triggered very soon there after. I bought again at $2.8 with a trailing stop .3 lower and it has not been triggered even after the bounce this morning (Mt Gox $3.25 - $2.9). I don't know what the bitcoinica prices were, but I'm content with this action. My trailing stop is now at $2.87.

Zhoutong, if it's not too much trouble, do you think you could estimate the ideal (minimal difference) trailing stop if I had purchased at $2.6 on 25 October and hoped not to have been triggered in the last four days. Do you think a .25 difference would have held my position ($2.6 buy, $2.35 trailing stop)?

netrin:  in a high volatility environment with an illiquid exchange reflected by the high spreads, you will suffer badly as the swings in both directions hit your trailing stops.  you will lose for sure in the long run.  the only way you can win is with a sustained move in one direction.

17118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin talk video: Donald Norman from Bitcoin Consultancy on: October 28, 2011, 02:29:32 PM
He is not so wrong to talk about the Mtgox crash accident. If checking the data of the new forum members of day by day, we can reasonably assume that trend that people joining the forum changed so sharp around the 20110619 and this must be because the Mtgox crash accident.

Maybe some people have heard nothing about bitcoin since they hear the bitcoin exchange rate < 1 cent/btc, and talking about it maybe good.

he can briefly mention it.  but then downplay it with a massive positive spin that Bitcoin itself never got hacked and that the price went right back to where it was.  of course we all know where the price is now but it isn't solely b/c of that one incident.  its here b/c of a variety of other incidents.

instead he goes into this long drawn out explanation of how the hacker executed the ploy which scares the hell out of the average listener who doesn't understand Bitcoin let alone how exchanges work.

look, he's just trying to be honest, i understand that.  but this is Sun Tzu financial warfare that we're engaging in and he and Amir best wake up to that fact and start presenting Bitcoin as if its the greatest thing the world has ever known.  it is.

the price have not break through the 10 days high yet.

However, it shows a trend to form a triangle which will indicates the uptrend.
