17181  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading.. the long and short of it... on: July 14, 2017, 03:26:56 AM
I'm interested in alt coins and would like to invest a small amount of money into the market. I'm thinking of making an initial investment of around $300-$500. what would be the best way for me to get experience with minimal risk?

Look up some altcoins on http://coinmarketcap.com/, probably the top 50, or 100, depending on how much free time you have and do research on them. Read whitepapers, checkout the community, how active the developers are, everything. Looks like alot of work yea? Well were talking about investing here, if you dont want to end up investing in a shitcoin then better do your own research.
17182  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: July 13, 2017, 04:16:32 PM

-snip-

ChipMixer is a reliable, trustworthy company that handles millions of USD worth of Bitcoin and this is not something we should be too concerned about, or at least I'm not.

Umm, where did you get this figure? Not trying to be a dick, but just wondering if you're shilling for the sake of shilling, or if you actually grabbed this figure from somewhere reputable. Or are you just guessing?

"handles millions of USD worth of Bitcoin" hah. Surely made the numbers up. Not saying ChipMixer is bad, it's just that ChipMixer is only like 1 and a half months old therefore it's quite unlikely that it's already holding that much bitcoin. ChipMixer's future is lookin good though.
17183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitpay client wallet safe comes Segwit2X on: July 13, 2017, 03:25:57 PM
As long as you have the private key it isn't going to matter what wallet you use, the only thing you need to be careful of in the event of a chain split is replay attacks which is where they can resend the transaction on the other fork if u send a similar one on the other chain.

Thanks.

I've decided to move most of my funds away nonetheless.

Another reason was the copay/bitpay two version issue, and a client without password protection. Also because the team didn't come out and issue a decision about Segwit2X.

Kudos nonethless because bitpay felt like a super user friendly client with great UI/UX.

Why so? Your bitcoins on copay or bitpay will be safe, as they both store the private keys offline only. Even if they issue a decision about segwit2x it will be irrelevant since you get 2 versions of bitcoins anyway if ever a chain split happens since you have control over the private keys.
17184  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Has Coinbase been hacked? Proof within ... on: July 13, 2017, 12:59:52 PM
Change your passwords asap. I think it's more likely that someone got in or is trying to get into your account. Do a virus/malware scan while your at it. Also, make sure you're using 2 factor authentication.

How come I still have 98 Activity with an Account which is over 1 year old and over 300 posts?

You probably just spammed your way to 300 points, which definitely isn't how you gain activity. Read this post for more info: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0
17186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can the Most Powerful Computer on Earth Hack Bitcoin? on: July 13, 2017, 11:33:24 AM
Let me avoid the technical aspects to make things easy for all readers.

So someone said that America's NSA has this great computer(quantum computer) that could easily hack Bitcoin private keys. I really doubt his claim but I know for sure that certain computers  like the most powerful Super Computers are within the reach of some of this Intelligence organizations.
Do you think such computers can crack any security codes put in place to make Bitcoin very secure?

The thing is, on paper, everything is hack-able. But when talking about hacking(or brute forcing in this situation) bitcoin private keys, I think it will take a very VERY long time for them to be able to score a private key. Were talking about long enough for multiple generations of people to die and be born.
17187  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gay Marriage and Adoption on: July 13, 2017, 08:38:15 AM
As for me, am not in support of gay marriage. It is illegal in my country and an abomination in the eye's of God and should be condemned in totality. And at the same time am not in support of adoption, either by the gay couple or homosexual people for i believe if everyone become gay or homosexual as they are, would there be children anywhere for them to adopt. So since there have choose to be what they are i believe there is still room for them to repent and come back to Jesus Christ or face the consequences in Hell.

How about if someone is gay their entire life, get married to another gay person, and adopt a child who is straight.  Are they all going to hell?  And what if they all repent their "sin" before dying?  Then they all go to heaven?

How many gay people do you think are in hell right now, as you're reading this?  And how many pedophile priests are in heaven?  Cheesy

And lol @ condemning in totality.  Get on a plane dude.  Go see the world.  Smiley

Honestly, there is no way for us to know if the gay couple will go to hell or heaven. Also, if we assume that the gay couple goes to hell, why should the straight adopted child go to hell too as you implied? Because he/she had gay parents? Also, repentance isn't a one time instant thing. Repentance is not just saying you're sorry and you're instantly forgiven.

Also, who says those pedophile priests are in heaven? Being a priest isn't a free pass on going to heaven.
17188  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I keep my account secure? on: July 13, 2017, 07:54:16 AM
so as not stolen other people. What should I do
By using a strong password, do not re-use the same password on any other site and not share your password with others. We recommend that you use a password manager like LastPass to create and store your password.
If you are not using security practices and your account is compromised, we will not be able to help you.

What this guy said. Lookup LastPass and KeePass, they're the two best password managers as of now. I personally use LastPass because it's way more convenient than the latter. Also, change your passwords like in a minimum of once a month for better safety measure.

One last thing, go to https://haveibeenpwned.com/ and lookup your emails. It can show you which if your emails on whatever website has been compromised in the past.

If we were to give opinions on your plan, we're going to need more information than that.

i have a billion dollar idea worth to patent? or just release pre-ico? To stand out as the first?

Not against what you said, but how confident are you that it really is a "billion dollar idea"? That's quite a huge claim to make.
17190  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sexbots. Will you be indulging? on: July 13, 2017, 01:40:30 AM
Hell no. Those sex bots look alot more of creepier than arousing in my opinion. Imagine having sex with an imaginary plastic person with a straight/blank face. It's like having sex with a dead person LOL.
17191  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Qatar is still the richest country in the world on: July 12, 2017, 02:20:01 PM
Average wages in Qatar stands at $129,112 per head, which is almost double of that in the United States.

What? I knew it was high but I didn't know it was THAT high. No wonder alot of people go overseas and work there.

I did a bit of research on Qatar's economy, it says that taxable income generally is subject to a flat (CIT) rate of 10%. That's alot lower than I expected with that high of an average wage.
17192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Minig start... but what? on: July 12, 2017, 12:47:46 PM
Are you aiming for convenience? Or better profits/returns? I'd personally go with Dash as of now, since I think with mining dash I can maximize my profits. Take a look at other coins too, though. Lookup on Siacoin.
17193  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much bitcoin has spread in the world? on: July 12, 2017, 06:30:26 AM
How much bitcoin has spread in the world? And how much total bitcoin is there?

Just like the other commentor just said, there are 16442238 bitcoins mined so far, and it will only max out at 21 million (or  20999999.9769 BTC to be exact).

There's no way to say how much bitcoin is spread across the world. As this is one of the beauties of bitcoin, it has a decent amount of anonymity whereas you cant just track where the bitcoins are. You can only know the address.
17194  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS Leader is dead on: July 12, 2017, 04:26:25 AM
I think I remember seing the same headlines last week  Huh Does he die every week or what?  Grin

Anyway, very good job to whoever pulled the trigger. I'm not sure how big of an impact this is gonna get though, probably gonna enrage ISIS a bit more. I'm pretty sure they have lots of leaders. But hey, a dead/captured ISIS member is always good.

17195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we moving towards the Global Crypto Currency Depression? on: July 12, 2017, 03:42:53 AM
If you've been in the cryptocurrency world for a long time chances are you already know that these crashes are normal. As august 1 is approaching fear is going to continue to make the prices drop. Also, I think altcoins are heavily affected due to the huge number of ICOs being opened and also because you can't buy some altcoins with USD, only in exchange for bitcoin.
17196  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just received small BTC randomly? Strange transactions. on: July 11, 2017, 04:24:38 PM
I just received 0.00000001 BTC yesterday out of the blue.  Looking at the transaction ID, whoever or whatever it was sent the same amount to a bunch of other addresses.  Any idea what is going on?

Transaction ID
146b436377f364dcd9d1a74e70b75e47e695cb345d1e2ba566a6afc6575f6f25

Very weird. I have like more than 8 total wallets and I haven't had such a transaction. Doesn't look like an accidental send, doesn't look like his/her intention was to give you bitcoin (or a few satoshis) either. Someone trying to spam the blockchain maybe?  Cry
17197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why bitcoin fees is $1.60 to send bitcoins on: July 11, 2017, 03:59:48 PM
Hi,

I want to know why bitcoin is charging me $1.60 for sending $1 to another bitcoin wallet address ?

Can anyone confirm how i can send bitcoin without blockchain charging me fees.

It is because of the scaling issues we've been having for weeks and months. Heres a decent article for you to get more information about it: https://cointelegraph.com/explained/bitcoin-scaling-problem-explained

Anyway, I've done a transaction recently and I only paid for like 15 cents for a 30 minute transaction. What wallet are you using? if you couldn't choose your own transaction fee, I suggest changing wallet services. Try electrum.
17198  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What does 'Pump and Dump' means in crypto trading ? on: July 11, 2017, 02:35:43 PM
hi all.,

i am not a day trader , so i dont know much about these terms.,

there was trollbox on polo where people used to say pump and dump specific coins. but trollbox is gone now.,

from basic understanding dump means DROP,
does the PUMP means buy ?

Good question. As we see alot of "pump and dump" telegram groups lately.

Pretty much the group owner/leader will call signals on when to buy or sell a specific cryptocurrency.

Before the group owner/leader makes a buy call, he buys himself a good number of a certain crypto first, and then he makes the signal. So what happens? Since alot of members from the whole group are buying that certain crypto, the price will rise.

Then what happens? Probably after a few days, the leader will then make another signal. the sell signal. before he calls the signal, he sells first. So he can get the best margins from the crypto.
17199  Other / Off-topic / Re: punishment for rapists on: July 11, 2017, 11:04:22 AM
The death penalty is too simple a punishment for rapists. They need to cut off the genitals and shut up in prison until the end of life. Women need to be given weapons to prevent such cases, this will significantly reduce crimes.

As much as I don't like seeing genitals being cut off, I think only this kind of fear can stop rapes from happening. Like, I'm in pain just by imagining it. What much more if it's actually done. LOL. They might probably think death penalty by lethal injection may be too peaceful and painless.

If she had worn this.. then he got enough punishment LOL

This actually looks like a decent countermeasure for rape lol. I can't imagine the pain that can cause. ugh.
17200  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Self-Learning Artificial Intelligence Robot "saves" little girls on: July 11, 2017, 08:47:31 AM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3rfAEbveWU

Before a shelf with books falls, the robot raises it's arm and saves a girl climbing it. Apparently the action was self learned. What did the robot wanted? The decision process review should be awesome to analyze.
This is all good and nice but what happens if the robot starts to learn the bad things and starts to implement it in todays society. That will be catastrophic for the entire world when the machine rises.

Looks like you've watched too much terminator dude.  Grin

Anyway, is there even any proof that the action was self learned? The robot raised it's arm the moment the girl went close to the shelf, not because the shelf was going to fall. I don't know about you but I think it's pre-programmed. With that said decision processes of robots are fascinating indeed. I need to get more info on that topic.
