1721  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is 51% attack a double-spending threat to bitcoin? on: April 12, 2020, 06:20:03 AM
Full nodes have no power to mitigate the real attacks a hypothetical 51% collided pools can carry out, no matter how many of them are present:
.. I think you are ignoring the fact that full nodes run by normal users are essentially what make bitcoin collapse/ takeover resistant.
It is not a fact, just a false assertion. Bitcoin is resistant to collapse/takeover because of the game theory behind the scene.

There is no party named "full nodes coalition" or something, established to keep bitcoin safe and secure. As a single user, I don't care about anything other than my own security and I won't pay a penny to keep you or "the community" secure.

If there are no full nodes, then won't the network stop existing in case of a takeover of centralized pools/ miners?  On the other hand, user run full nodes with a geographic diversification the world over, serviced by different ISPs etc. can keep running under even such conditions. Its a worst case scenario which needs full nodes plus home miners.

That is also the original peer-to-peer network and it can survive no matter what; but only if the block chain rules continue to allow full nodes to run.
1722  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Crypto Miners in Chandigarh/Mohali on: April 11, 2020, 02:12:28 PM
I remember checking your facebook page back when the mining craze was going on but then opted to make my own as i did not want to put money all of a sudden. We need a bit more action in GPU mining but unfortunately, that level of hobbyism isn't evident yet that people with interest as well as the cash to afford these can start this.

Yet, anybody with access to some sort of subsidized electricity and a decent job should get one of these for speculative/ continuous passive earning. I admit it is not all that great but hey, this is also a hobby. It earning you speculative riches or some pocket-change monthly isn't such a bad deal.
1723  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is 51% attack a double-spending threat to bitcoin? on: April 11, 2020, 01:54:01 PM
Full nodes have no power to mitigate the real attacks a hypothetical 51% collided pools can carry out, no matter how many of them are present:
Apart from the 51% attack mitigation, I think you are ignoring the fact that full nodes run by normal users are essentially what make bitcoin collapse/ takeover resistant. A system comprised only of miners (if there are no non-mining full nodes) or entities with the ability to run specialized hardware (for chains with large blocks and enormous throughput requirements) can never be as takeover resistant due to centralized points of failures.

A system with millions of user maintained full nodes will just trudge along, no matter what. That is a worthy feature to ensure robustness in the face of calamity (natural or man-made).
1724  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: High Definition Virtual Identity (iHDVi) on: April 11, 2020, 12:21:58 PM
Virtual identity on the sense that you do have your own identity on virtual world but i dont really get the true motive or goal on this one.
As he mentioned above;

"we spend 2/3 of our lives  virtual characters  so that’s an important part ,"

I dont think so.  Undecided
Well, maybe he is trying to say it about the time and effort we spend on social media like facebook, twitter etc. Is that what you are calling a virtual identity? Also, all these talk about "building your virtual identity" also points towards some sort of RPG type product too. There are already a lot of such products out there so no innovation there.
1725  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you ready for the Halving ??? Not that Halving, the PRICE Halving of Bitcoin on: April 10, 2020, 07:16:08 PM
You just need to listen to PETER SCHIFF on YouTube, and get yourself some REAL COINS, you can even get them with BitCoin printed on them if you love the idea of BitCoin but do not want to lose all your money...  Oh wait, you can not even buy gold coins right now, no one is selling  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Why should someone weigh gold against bitcoin as a safe haven. Gold has been used as a safe haven for quite long and will still be. Yet, bitcoin fulfills a different need. It is backed by a powerful, secure network and mathematical certainty. It is decentralized and permissionless in a way that nothing else has ever been in history.

For people who do not believe that the world may one day move from thinking that gold is somehow the last hedge, well, you guys truly are dinosaurs. You cannot wrap your head around bitcoin then why wander aimlessly in this forum..LOL..Just go buy what you want. People here are intelligent enough to make their own decisions and take their own risks.
1726  Other / Off-topic / Re: There should not be any more Lockdown in the US, Save the traders! on: April 10, 2020, 06:12:52 AM
There should not be any more Lockdown in the US, Save the traders!
America is not the 3rd world country where this kind of lockdown should be applied, how many people will die if the Trump does not apply this lockdown?
US authorities at one point insisted that "A mask is not necessary and it does nothing to help you" because they did not have enough masks available in the market. The country that taught the concept of manufacturing and assembly line to the world has come to a point where they cannot produce enough masks. That is the kind of historically wrong shit that Americans have done to themselves. Add to this the fact that they have a lying narcissist at the helm. Trump maybe good at calling a spade a spade but his weird personal idiosyncracies and the desperate need for validation led to a lot of blunders that could have just been avoided.

Now that he has realized the shit-show AND Americans in general have realized that they are being the laughing stock of the world, we hope they bring back some of that American-ness and deal with it. Till then, you guys really need a lockdown just like any other third world country. Because you handled it like a third world country.

And well, the rest of your post explains pretty much why USA has become such a shit-show off late. Social media has been the bane of America because every idiot has a megaphone now. Everyone of you idiots think you are some sort of experts just because your previous generation actually had people who were not imbeciles like the present generation. It hurts to see that the people that ran legends like the Skunk works, sent the first man on moon, gave the world much of the latest standards, material innovations and the IP on which the modern world runs, has been brought to its knees because idiots can have an opinion and every one of these fuckers think that his/ her opinion matters as much as the expert's. I hope America finds its souls back and sees that they have pretty much spoiled their nation with the crass, off-handed, consumerist approach where they think that a man who talks like that and says stuff like that can be considered to be a decent leader.
1727  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for Dev bounty sites, specifically for Crypto, any help? on: April 10, 2020, 05:54:57 AM
We are looking for help on a few dApp projects and need some bounty sites to spread the word.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? We are looking for Crypto focused sites but general ones will do too
On bitcointalk, if you want to put up a developers bounty or look for people who would be interested in working on your platform then you should post something related to "how it is connected to bitcoin" and then post it in the services sub here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0

Seeing that your project aims to be a sidechain which uses EVM and solidity language, just want to know that how is this different from Rootstock?
1728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we heading in a Sucker Rally ? on: April 10, 2020, 05:45:37 AM
This sucker rally logic is assuming that individuals and businesses who got the liquidity should be spending it to buy BTC. And if they are not, then it means it will go down. That is some pretty circular logic. People/ businesses who received the magic money would probably be hoarding and waiting it out for the worst to pass. As time passes, more and more people would realize the stupidity of printing so much money in one go and the kind of economic structure that needs/ justifies this.

That basic proposition of sound money will take some time for people to realize. It is a currency that is being used the world over and is being built upon continuously and unlike the trillions they hold, it cannot be minted without any reasonable restrictions. When this settles in, a lot of people who can think for themselves will realize that bitcoin is the perfect hedge against vested interest policies of their federal reserve.

Anybody who doubts this should take a test. If you know any investment banker friends, ask them if they know about bitcoin or not and if they have bought any. The smartest people will say yes.
1729  Economy / Reputation / Re: Merit abuse by a Legendary on: April 08, 2020, 10:16:49 AM
I knew I remembered the username from a couple of places, that was one of them. Side note: He really needs to wipe off that ixcoin turd from his profile.
Yeah. I read more into his posts later and realized he lost it in the maze of alt-coins.. When the history of bitcoin is written, the collateral damage of ICO fever will probably have a chapter of its own. Roll Eyes
1730  Economy / Reputation / Re: Merit abuse by a Legendary on: April 07, 2020, 06:13:39 PM
By the way, if this post is talking about Vlad2Vlad who once paid off a bet of 2000 USD in cash and later even joked about it.. Just read that thread and wail.

Fuck all these people looking to dig dirt on everyone and anyone..Let the man live. To me he seems to be of the old stock, the kind of people they don't make in the crypto-world or this forum anymore with all the rampant greed and petty merit/ money-chasing..Sad fucking thing.. Angry
1731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- The Riddle of the Twin Brothers - Who Were, Are and Will Rule the World! on: April 07, 2020, 06:01:02 PM
Vlad is gone.  Retaliating like children against him [for quitting] will only have an undesired effect.

The commiserations going on between vlad and Apocalipsa over apparently some years  old alt-coin project are good literary fun to say the least. I like the names too. Just going to see what this shit is about with Vlad crying about people betraying him on ixcoin and apocalipsa vowing revenge in his name.
Apocalipsa sound female so a crazy revenge goddess would complete the picture for me..
Like this one:

I always loved the Todd Mcfarlane comic series spawn with its apocalyptic battle between the Kali goddess(inspired by "The Kali")
credit and source : Todd McFarlane's Spawn. Better than any DC or Marvel comic series i've ever read. I am partial to the "Batman: Battle for the Cowl" series but Spawn was Spawn..God bless America..

You guys frankly don't deserve a petty, unsophisticated, idiotic shithead like Trump. Stay safe everyone..
1732  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Crypto miner in Chandigarh/Mohali on: April 07, 2020, 04:48:55 PM
Great. There were quite a few upcoming mining operations when the RBI ban snuffed everything out. Now with this lifted, quite a few people are waiting for this kind of a start. Seeing that you are a completely new account, it will definitely take some time for us to get comfortable.

Please post a few details of what kind of rigs you are offering and the pricing. Just giving a whatsapp or phone number is often seen as scam-bait. I really do hope you are genuine. Please post in the India sub too over here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=121.0
1733  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Class-action lawsuits filed against 11 Bitcoin/cryptocurrency companies on: April 07, 2020, 04:35:36 PM
I think that they didn't lose a penny because of those ICOs/tokens.
I think that they've simply sniffed the smell of money and try to make a case in a way at least one of those exchanges will pay them a fat amount as settlement.
They are seeing crypto space as a cow to be milked. Same as CSW does.

There are multiple individuals behind the lawsuit. Even if they did not lose money, this still raises the valid question about what exactly are those ICO's doing with the millions raised from citizens across the globe? Or atleast i hope it goes that way for a bit. The out-of-court settlement is always a plausible scenario and then it'll be the same story of lawyers making money, no matter who wins. Yet, In the faketoshi case, the multiple lies from him were exposed and the court/ media at least widely recognized his fake and forged submissions.

Tthe litigation is clearly contradicting centralized issues tokens against bitcoin which could also be a net positive.
1734  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Class-action lawsuits filed against 11 Bitcoin/cryptocurrency companies on: April 07, 2020, 01:38:25 PM
So they are basically filing case against centralized exchanges possibly on behalf of rich investors who lost money by investing in the likes of EOS, SNT etc. etc. These are all tokens that were sold to investors in return of promises of establishing new industries on the web. For example, the people who invested in EOS were promised the moon while now it is basically a shit-show of PoS delegates etc. bribing people to vote while taking the block reward and selling it back to people using these exchanges.

These people claimed that they will invest the money to build some sort of mega-enterprises. They later used that hype to continue circulating these shitcoins and milk people for more money in the name of trading. Could this finally be the end of ICOs that promise everything under the sky without delivering anything. The less said about stuff like TRON, the better.

I would like to see reactions from Vinny Lingham of Civic though. The guy is pretty vocal on twitter. Lets see what his take is. Also, lets not make it about authorities vs crypto. From Bitcoin's viewpoint, these centralized exchanges and these tokens may as well crash and burn.
1735  Local / India / Re: Lets have some fun! on: April 07, 2020, 05:56:02 AM
This was a fun post. Thank you @pawanjain. Your topics have been fun to read and engage with..Smiley

I most definitely do not look like that guy as i thankfully have my hair intact enough to keep the maturing hairline hidden..Looking at legendsters impression of eality, when do we get to visit your beach-villa dude? I do wonder if this "yacht parties with babes" stereotype about the young and rich in west is actually true. Meanwhile here in India, even the girls on tinder are mostly looking to net a husband..
1736  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] FreeBitco.in Signature Campaign | Sr./Hero/Legendary | 4-Week Trial on: April 06, 2020, 06:33:51 PM
Definitely a deserved member for this gambling company's campaign as this person is having 1 gambling post in their last 20 posts and that also talking about locking a topic.
I know Hhampuz to be one of the most considerate and fairest campaign managers. He is also one of the few, probably only CM, who gives a patient hearing to everything from these complaints to issues that may arise in campaigns. From your post history, it does seem that you are not a shit-poster. The thing is that signature campaigns have dwindled for sometime while the number of people have gone up. There is a whole clique that assiduously follows campaigns and gather merits by the hundreds bamboozling the applications, LOL. The CMs never go for a first come, first serve basis and it can get frustrating if you don't have the merits, nor the post history to "stand out." Being salty on the manager, that too on Hhampuz amongst all others, is not going to help.

Why don't you focus on some particular aspect/ project for the community? I see that you haven't started a topic in 3 years here, barring a generic one in gambling section. No wonder it is hard to get a move on. You need to be heard and seen for which engagement with community is important. Take up a real project, learn some technical shit about bitcoin, engage into fruitful discussions, find a niche, basically. Try to identify people who maybe geographically closer to you and get some collaboration going. Engage in your local section. It takes time so make sure your engagement is of high quality. There is something for everyone in bitcoin. You just need to put in time and effort.

Whining to the CM about it isn't really fair or productive..Lots of unsolicited advice i know.. Roll Eyes Well, Good luck..Stay safe..
1737  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 06, 2020, 05:48:51 AM
No, BCH's reason for existence is as a means of transferring value. Specifically, an uncensorable one that does not collapse in functionality as demand for its use rises. How is this flawed? You're still way off base.

I only just started posting in the WO thread hoping to join in on what the cool boys are up to. Didn't know will have to contend with an altcoin shiller so early.. Angry Why are you here if you want to shill an altcoin? Go preach to some newbie who finds it exciting that they can buy "some kind of scammy, slyly marketed bitcoin" after finding that BTC ain't a get-rich quick scheme. Congratulations on discovering the "use-case" of Bcash. Honestly, please don't reply with the properties of bcash again. Don't want to listen to how your business associates scam-market themselves or how you got convinced. You stay safe.

Stay safe everyone else. Follow social distancing and keep your own little islands of family and locality safe first. Get IPA, Sanitizer, bleach powder and spray it reasonably every time someone crosses the boundary of your home. We rebuild from there. So sad that people are losing relatives who die alone in hospital wards while some of these fake anti-authoritarian, wannabe-cavaliers still deny the pandemic. Fuck you morons..
1738  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Listing your token on a cryptocurrency exchange on: April 06, 2020, 05:25:37 AM
Using the same business pattern of headhunters, personal shoppers, manicurists, etc.

Pay someone to do menial, repetitive work.
Though OP is claiming another one of those silly services, one shouldn't frown upon menial, repetitive work..LOL

Honestly, if corporations didn't pay someone to do menial, repetitive work, globalization would never work. No more cheap labour and no more bulk produced I-Phones for the western consumers. The system has worked out quite well for the developing countries/ labour-suppliers of the world. Though, it can be debated if it is a perfect system at all.
1739  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is 51% attack a double-spending threat to bitcoin? on: April 06, 2020, 05:16:46 AM
Now, and please stay focused, if the double-spend is solved in the first place regardless of what is happening in the mining scene, what's actually driving the anti-PoW/anti-miner propaganda/instincts in this community? I'm asking about the rationale behind this phobia and the way it is blocking so many scaling ideas and proposals? If double-spending is not going to happen and bitcoin supply won't ever exceed the cap, what else is at stake that makes people nervous about trusting in PoW?

Are people concerned about pools to collide and defraud few Satoshis from reckless users who release their assets with one or two confirmations? Please! Just give me a break.

Hello aliashraf. I have seen you be a long time proponent of scaling ideas on bitcoin. I read a lot of your posts about proposing a rigorous solution and the code for some of your ideas but I don't know if you are actively pursuing them in terms of code. Point me in a direction if you are. I don't think there is any anti-PoW/ anti-miner propaganda in this community. Everyone loves PoW. The concern about miner centralization is only related to the fact that you cannot let a specialized group of people be the sole controlling-stakeholders in a decentralized system that we all hope will continue and flourish long after we have gone. Don't you feel it is a genuine and valid concern considering the vision and magnitude of such a system.

That is why Bitcoin community insist on the throughput constraints for full nodes when business interests are going wild with their 128 MB and 1 GB blocks. The concept that base layer with billions of dollar of value should continue in its robust, widely-accessible form is a worthy goal. What is wrong if real scaling solutions that can enable day-to-day payments come as Layer-2 solutions like LN? Bitcoin has a robust roadmap, in as much as a decentralized roadmap can be. The insistence on scaling the base network by crowding out full nodes and using the "Nodes don't matter" argument does not hold much water. There are more than one way to do a thing right.

What exact scaling solutions do you think the community is not thinking of? We had segwit. Then there is Schnorr and Taproot which bring more functionality and a bit of scaling. I think the community is doing great. Your thoughts and comments on the thread i linked would be welcome.
1740  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 05, 2020, 07:13:20 AM
Are you sure that you are not attempting to pull a belated April fools joke on us?

You know April fools is just the 1st day of April, not the whole month, right?

Relatively speaking, the amount does not seem extra-ordinary when the forum translates it into a fee and purportedly the fee will remedy it (as a kind of "atonement"), but to me, still sounds either scammy to be asking or like a joke.  Maybe theymos has a good sense of humor while he is extracting some extra dollars/bitcoins/satoshis/grin from suspect accounts?  Maybe he should ask for bcash SV?  hahahaha.. and say that craig is the real satoshi?
This happens to new users quite a lot. I remember seeing this when i joined but i don't quite remember if i paid any fees or was white-listed. Its crazy that i remember seeing this message but not whether i paid or not.

--snip--
If this thing was the real deal... wouldn't they inconvenience doctors and have them stay on campus rather than venture around town?  However, they aren't because that is a major inconvenience and they "can't".

How many RV's do you see in front of your empty hospital in your town?  Zero.  Because they take their ass home after a day at work!
There are twitter accounts of doctors and nurses talking about the self-quarantine they have to go through when they cannot be close to their family members till this passes over. What do you make of this:
