1725  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Auction] New Series, Villains of Bitcoin Trading Cards, Corrossive Creations on: October 10, 2018, 07:27:01 PM
For starters, Roger would not return 50 dollars to a user here on the forum years back.  The user had accidentally overpaid for an item and Roger determined that he could keep the money.

In my opinion, he conspired with others to spam the bitcoin network in an attempt to destroy some of its most fundamental functions of bitcoin.

He is a convicted felon in the US for selling explosives

He pledged that Mt. Gox was solvent, he made a video in an attempt to convince others to leave their money there, he stated that he determined they were solvent. Mt. Gox was not solvent.  People lost their life savings.

If you consider the above actions those of a hero, go ahead, that's you.  I am going with Villian.

I wasn't calling Roger a hero.  Although I was around in the days when he was called Bitcoin Jesus for the work he did promoting it early on.  It was more intended as a thought provoking quote in reference to an entire such series.  Certainly not something to start making assumptions over.

You're right though, he is a convicted felon for selling fireworks on eBay.  He also has had a very negative attitude towards Bitcoin Core over the more recent years in it's history that myself and many here do not appreciate.

Good luck to you and Corrossive Creations with your new series.

Thanks!  Corrosive Creations is quite talented and fun to work with.

I will be giving as many of the remaining ones as I can to forum users I meet in Vegas at the Conference.  Introduce yourself and one is yours.  I will be wearing a Lesbian Cow costume in honour of holloween so should be easy to find if you wish.  I will most likely be hanging around with a dude dressed as a Mantis.

Yes congrats MN! BTW now that the raffle is over if you have to have one of these Perth Mint 2 oz Silver Figure Eight Dragons they are hard to find in stock in US but APMEX has some (for now at least.)

APMEX is the only dealer i saw with stock though my search was brief.   i acquired a few of them directly from the Perth Mint when they were released.  They are stunning, I highly recommend getting one to anyone who is interested.  Yes, the premium is steep however 8,888 is very low mintage for a mint like Perth.

Thanks for the updated numbers Bobby, seems the 2018 1.0 btc is pretty rare at only 150 produced.

Question, how do I get one of the "Twins"?

Bobby, I am looking forward to meeting you in Vegas.  It will be a great time, many of the  physical bitcoin collectors will be attending.

If you want assistance hosting raffles here on forum ahead of time I would be happy to help.  Send me a pm and we can sort details if you like.

Cheers!

1737  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [PROJECT ANN] ALLEGORY OF DEATH: REVISITED- 1000 SWISS FRANC on: October 08, 2018, 11:20:55 PM
Were people allowed to turn their notes in for other valid currency? or anyone who was holding these just lost their money?

The notes went out of use in 1980 and were made completely worthless in 2000.

While 20 years may seem like a generous amount of time, many people lost a lot of money.

Grandparents passed away with large amounts of their successors inheritance hidden in mattresses. Others lost millions due to the fact that they were stored in safe deposit boxes and safes.

20 years seems to be a good amount of time for people to get them cashed out, seems reasonable to me I guess, but still, that's a lot of money into the wind. Tongue

When my father passed I found gold Krugs he hid in jacket pockets in 1979.  Stored value should be just that, stored value.  Fuck any bank, Central Bank or private, that is willing to invalidated their own previously issued notes.  This is exactly why the blockchain has value, trust-less proof of ownership forever.

Polymerbit's note here perfectly demonstrates this, top job Poly Team!

1740  Economy / Collectibles / WTS - A Few Unique Physical Crypto Items - NEW ITEMS 06 February 2019 on: October 08, 2018, 09:04:11 PM
Hello Everyone!

I have some some pretty snazzy crypto items I will part with at the below asking prices.  I will update this thread as I continue to assess my collection.  Let me know if you have any questions.  As of 06 February 2019, I have the 7 lots listed below available.  Click on any photos to make bigger.  Cheers to all!

ITEM #1

Bitcoin Suisse AG 1.0 BTC Funded with Authorization Letter - These are pretty rare.  Bitcoin Suisse had announced a mintage of 1,000 but they were not all produced.  I contacted Bitcoin Suisse and all they were willing to tell me was "significantly less than 1,000 were produced".

Item #2

Asking Price 0.475 btc for the Pair

Item #3

Polymerbit Allegory of Death, Revisited, 1000 Swiss Franc with COA.  This is #4 of 10 Produced by Polymerbit.  For scale, see the Satori Chip in photo #1.  As far as Fiat bills go, this thing is an absolute unit with an interesting history and stunning design.  This bill, and project, showcase how all Fiat currencies eventually approach zero.  Comes in beautiful custom acrylic display slab.

Here is what the creator had to say "This is a unique first for Polymerbit. We have successfully printed on genuine banknote paper.

This note is famous not only for its high value, but the fact that is bears the image of death.

This project uses its imagery to challenge the very bank that commissioned its production.

This is because in 2000, any 5th series notes became practically worthless overnight. Anyone who held these notes were left with a collectible worth a fraction of its nominal value.

It highlights the fragility of fiat, and the fact that even one of the most valuable notes on earth can be practically reduced to the paper it was printed on by a centralised authority.

9 of the 10 notes were already sold to private investors to finance this project.

Original Note issued 1973. Printed by De La Rue in London, England."

Asking Price: 0.25 BTC
