1721  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GOX GOXING GOX? on: June 20, 2013, 04:18:09 PM
There is just no point in stopping USD withdrawals, yet still accepting USD.

Of course there's a point.

Consider the following:

- You have just been sued to the tune of 75 million dollars
- The US have just taken down several of your business partners, including the company you yourself set up while lying to the US.
- More and more venues to get money in or out of your  trading card game exchange are being shut down.

So what do you do in that situation?

- Book a flight to Cuba
- Stop outgoing transactions while keeping ingoing transactions open
- Sit on your bum for 2 weeks while waiting for your travel date to arrive.
- Stuff all that fiat money in your suitcases, fly to Cuba, buy a beach bar or 500 and live happily ever after.
1722  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox wires ARE delayed on: June 20, 2013, 03:11:31 PM
Mtux says Mizuho Bank's automated wire transfer API is broken right now.  Wires can only be sent out manually by Mizuho.  Gox is opening accounts at other banks, which should drastically improve USD withdrawal times and bypass the technical problems at Mizuho.  This process should take around 2 weeks.

Lets examine this a little.

An API which has been working perfectly for a bank suddenly stops working and there is no solution to the problem apart from opening new bank accounts ?

Banks don't just go in and break their systems, if there was a software issue with their API they would roll back any recent changes and make it work again.

This is an excuse. Knowing how Asian businesses operate I would say it's a 'face saving' excuse.

I think I can say that this is also a lie - someone at the bank is lying to mtux if this is what was said.

Well that's a strange thing I learned. When you get IP banned from a site, suddenly your API requests to the site fail. Why does this happen? Nobody knows. It is a complete mystery. Someone should make a game about that. A mystery game.

1724  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: So...Gox has stopped USD withdrawals for 2 weeks, to upgrade???? on: June 20, 2013, 02:36:30 PM
I'm pretty sure you all know what the term "2 weeks" means in Bitcoin-ese.  Smiley

(In case you don't follow ASIC drama, it means "several months up to 1 year")

I'd see to it to get my money out of there. Just saying.
1725  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: June 20, 2013, 02:33:34 PM
What with all the threads being opened on "What is an activity and where did my postcount go" I guess it would make sense to have the activity field link to this thread.

This is borked now. It will not show untrusted feedback, even when you click the show ratings button.

Does it work now? I changed display:inherit to display:block.

That solved it.  Smiley

As for your personal attack, seriously, thats just pathetic. After the points I made previously, you just come out and tell me I'm a low level tech who should be fired from my job? For one thing, you don't know what I do for work, and for another, you don't judge how well I do my work. For the record, I am very good at what I do :-)

Looks like a low level tech to me.  Huh

Ahh, so we've gone to stalking me have we? Yeah, thats me. Truth is the job market sucks around here. IBM has made a whole bunch of people redundant, the banks have done the same. I now have competition with people with 20+ years experience. In any case, that is only a fraction of what I do and have done, I tailor that to suit the roles available.
Now, why exactly are you looking me up? What do you hope to achieve? Going to try and insult my personal life too? I'm guessing you're now going for facebook stalking too? You might even find pictures of me somewhere if you're lucky.

Nah, I just like shitting on people's parades. It's what I do.

I understand if you didn't have time to talk to your lawyer yet
I understood that BFL lawyer is too busy talking with other customer lawyers. We must be very careful to not allow BFL file for bankruptcy before we get what we can get.

In that case you should be quick, because from what I'm hearing things are gonna heat up "real soon now" (non-BFL time).
1732  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Recieved 50GH BFL Single Today! on: June 20, 2013, 10:59:56 AM
It's becoin. Yay! Have you talked to your lawyer yet, becoin? Did he laugh you out of the office? Did you make a video of that as we asked you to?

I understand if you didn't have time to talk to your lawyer yet, becoin, it's only been 7 months after all.

What's a strongcoin? Is it a gym based cryptocurrency? Can I use it to get cheaper protein?

I support two project there I paid over a year ago (pebble (red/white) and ramos clock) ... Nothing delivered yet (at least to me) ... so do I publicly cry about it? No!

If I had a history of investing in "companies" (haha) that clearly have no idea what the fuck they are doing, I wouldn't cry about it publicly either. Let me guess, you bought an OUYA too?

1739  Other / Meta / Re: Auctions on: June 19, 2013, 06:30:03 PM
I would like to suggest splitting the auction area into two parts 1. Mining Auctions 2. Auctions
I understand the mining race is on in a big way and their is a lot of equipment and/or shares available but I feel like a lot of good items that have nothing to do with mining get lost in mining posts.
I'm not a hoarder. I like to make BTC and I like to spend BTC. I feel like I miss some of the good auctions because they are short and get buried quickly.

I don't buy stuff in auctions, but wouldn't it be preferable to a guy buying stuff in auctions when auctions get buried more quickly so it lessens the chance others see the auction and overbid you?
