1741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Conference 2011 NYC on: August 26, 2011, 06:28:10 AM
Are all the people that think Amsterdam is a bad location from the US or something?
No, they are trolls from the SA board.

I'm from EU and yeah...never heard such crap. Amsterdam is fine, there is nothing wrong with weed or sex, and even if those things were bad it's still a great location, easily reachable from anywhere in Europe and the largest city in the Netherlands...

Seems like some people think the world revolves around America, and everything that their precious government says is correct.
Very few people think that, even from America.  Most Americans think our government is crap.  The majority of Americans are for the legalization of weed and simply love sex.  There is a small (but vocal) minority that do not.

I recommend you leave your sheltered pathetic little lives for some time and see the world from outside your little box, you will find that actually the rest of the world thinks the US is a joke and your not the center of the world.

I have traveled all over the world, including Amsterdam.  Very few people think the US is a joke, and despite OUR STUPID GOVERNMENT they still want to come here.   When in other countries, they complain about very similar things to what we do such as taxes, government waste and corruption, and the price of things.
+1 to this entire post.

99% of the negative threads you see in this forum are coming from these sick people http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3413928.

If you been there please don't click on the link (they love the attention.) I have already applied to be moderator here, and I swear I will handle it if I get the chance. About 200+ people would be banned overnight, but I swear to god I would clean this place up...

I do IT support  Wink.
1743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Open letter to Bruce Wagner on: August 26, 2011, 06:12:25 AM
As someone who flew to the conference all the way from Tokyo,  I can say that the conference was a HUGE success.
I don't regret attending at all.
I'm sorry there was not live streaming on the web,  but that doesn't change the fact that there was am amazing amount of collaboration that went on at the conference.  I was especially impressed with the Bitcoin ATM information,  the BTCinch.com and bit-pay.com guys.
They have some awesome tools in the works.  I met so many sharp minds,  and so many new Bitcoin ideas were created.

In short,   the conference was a huge success for everyone who attended,  and I am more excited about Bitcoin's future than ever before.
Good post.

You guys are also forgetting that this took place in the aftermath of a huge hacking that affected Bruce PERSONALLY and probably still is since he only got back half his Bitcoins from (myBitcoin). I will reiterate my statements in hopes to shoo the filthy trolls away.

Could things have been a bit better for us webfolks who were so eagerly trying to get a glimpse of the conference? Yes.

Was the conference a failure? Of course not, and anyone going around harping that it was total failure is just fishing for lawls.
1744  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: August 26, 2011, 01:55:21 AM
Wow, always fun to look back. Grin

[…] since we going to $15 for the conference.
Cool crystal ball you got there.

HAHAHHAHA THIS IS GOING TO BE EPIC !!
Seriously, some Bitcoiners are maniacs.
Some of these bears are depressive egocentric maniacs who dwell on destruction and panic. Let us be happy...

Do we have to counter it with exuberance of the exact opposite though? I’m bullish, but I like being realistic, and if you put in too much hope in what this conference can achieve for Bitcoin, you might be disappointed.

Though I really don’t see any fundamental that has changed to justify a rally. People still can’t actually utilize Bitcoin itself to store their weatlh because the client is terribly user-unfriendly (where’s wallet.dat, how do I encrypt it, etc.), and we’ve seen what this has done.
I have been reading up on some of the guests that will be attending at this event. Bruce seems to be doing an amazing job on the organizational front, and there seems to be people flying from all over the country(USA) and all over the world to be at this event.

There are big players that will be there to congregate, and all of the concerns that you mentioned above I believe will be discussed in full detail and addressed.

I am excited because there will be many smart people meeting with other people who have the funds to make a difference in this small Internet economy. It is a time for growth and prosperity for all, and while this my all be hard to believe I think we all crave it as human beings.
Don't shoot the messenger.

P.S It was a success IMHO , just not the success many were hoping for.
1745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SolidCoin 1.01 Released on: August 26, 2011, 01:26:02 AM
I must say I am very very intrigued by how this is all playing out.

Can the CoinHunter give us more details on whether there is a team or just one person behind Solidcoin?
What is Solidcoins attitude towards Bitcoins?
How were the changes made to original Bitcoins source code, and what lead to you the changes that have been made in the solidcoin client.

It is also interesting that you made the amount much smaller than Bitcoins in order to somehow "beat it" out of it's value. I will be watching  Smiley.
1746  Economy / Economics / Re: US should of stuck with the gold standard on: August 26, 2011, 01:18:45 AM
Cheesy Lol learn some economics folks Smiley.
1747  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should we be concerned about the new alternate block chains/cryptocurrencies? on: August 26, 2011, 01:15:59 AM
No the auxiliary chains will only make Bitcoin stronger. Solidcoin already has some nice features I would like to see on the original client. I thought they were a scam but I am soon starting to realize that there is a serious programmer on that team. I do believe solid coin was built by a group of people, thus explaining the reason why it's "solid" ;P.  All the chains that are getting started today that have serious goals/improvements will be worth millions in the future.
1748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin = Communism? on: August 26, 2011, 01:13:17 AM
The reason why Bitcoin isn't communism is because miners can go on strike, thus destroying the entire system, and prohibiting Joe from ever making a dime off his greedy practices. There are no strikes in a communist system last time I checked Wink.

Get to work!
1749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To much time watching bitcoins in general on: August 26, 2011, 01:10:05 AM
I have to admit I am spending to much time on bitcoins. I could be doing many other things ,but I am basically just watching bitcoins. It doesn't help that it's super hot and I do exercising in the mornings.

WORK!

IF YOU NEED IDEAS FOR PROJECTS PM ME.

1750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Do we bring the value of BitCoins back up? on: August 26, 2011, 01:08:33 AM
Get to work! Thats the best way to bring it back up.

I have something good that you guys might like, it's a little idea called Bitwal.

It will be an instant payment system, with fraud protection, and charge-backs very similar to Paypal. I know alot of you here despise Paypal, but guess what normal people need the kind of services they offer. I know for a fact that this community has bright enough minds to come together and make something much more convenient, and affordable to use than Paypal.

I am willing to put my time and money where my mouth is. I am willing to organize a team of this magnitude but it is going to take bright minds coming forward and other investors taking some risk along with me. I have the Idea there, and it really doesn't take that much monetarily to make a reality, however it does take a serious amount of money, and some of the best profesionals to make Bitwal the standard for Bitcoin micro-payments.

  • Fixed transactions fees instead of unknown variable fees in BTC
I don't see these fees documented anywhere. What are the fees?

0.01 SC per transaction.
So do these fees stay like this forever? The fees aren't really explained very well on the website.
1753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wow look at Oldminer protect Thomas! on: August 25, 2011, 11:28:13 PM
Making threads about other people are pointless.

Just as pointless as IXCOIN lol..

Whoever made it should have gotten a programmer...
1754  Economy / Speculation / Re: R.I.P Bitcoin on: August 25, 2011, 11:23:54 PM
BITCOINS WILL NEVER DIE.
NEVER
NEVER
NEVER

Even if SHA-256 gets cracked (via quantum computing) the blockchain can and will be upgraded...

Now, Bitcoins price can crash at any moment Wink.
1755  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where do you fall on the political compass? on: August 25, 2011, 11:15:16 PM
The test is stupid, very stupid. If lower on the graph represents higher civil liberties and more right respresents more economic liberties such as property rights then I'd go here:

LOL Smiley Then I think that chart is PRETTY accurately representing you...
1756  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Michelle Obama accused of spending $10m in public money on vacations on: August 25, 2011, 11:14:29 PM
LOL total bullshit from the wackheads at the dailymail.. at least they put accused in the title.

I guess the great thing that can be said, is with all the petty crap the right wing around the planet finds to throw at Obama must mean, he hasnt been the worst president in human history.

Otherwise they would find something worthwhile to bitch about, like where the hell is that republican jobs plan they promised us.

People are like "abloo bloo bloo obama is bad" and then idolise reagan when reagan popularised the idea it was fine to spend into debt, cut taxes so much the government went broke and wasted billions and billions of dollars on proxy wars and personal projects which amounted to nothing, and this was when dollars were actually worth something.
Truth.

At-least Libertarians recognize the fallacy's of Modern Republican Ideology.

"Other Coins" are welcome at TweetForum as well. There is no reason why we can't openly debate these auxiliary chains. http://tweetforum.com/other-currencys/

What's there to debate? People choose to mine them or not.
The different currencies and whether they will succeed or not lol? My members are getting paid Bitcoins to post so I think they look for debate.

Nice what's the rate for posting?
0.25 BTC per every 100 Posts. We have strict guidelines to keep the posts quality way above any other forum you can think of. Find out more details here.
