1741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stories about lost Bitcoin on: July 04, 2023, 01:16:10 PM
I have really not had that experience of one scamming me of my hard earned resources not to talk of deceiving me to give them my login details or my seed phrase. I joined this platform with my eyes wide open to learning more about bitcoin and detecting scams and scammers was very easy for me because I took my time to read posts and comments to know more about them.

The only thing was that I lost access to my wallet as a result of my phone crash then which I could not recall were I kept the seed phrase to that wallet and that was my weekly pay wallet I had then. It was very painful to me because I don't take such for granted but it took me unawares and I had nothing to do to gain access to it till this very moment.
1742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Being Knowledgeable before Bitcoin investment is very Good on: July 04, 2023, 01:05:03 PM
The haste of making money fast is not easy to escape unless you don't have the money yet, and that's why I believe that your point is valid, if you don't have the money for investment you can have time to lead about Bitcoin and how to be safe in this crazy wild west.

I've learned a few things the hard way in crypto but I have heard about the worst cases of new investors that are close to me, that's when I understand that mistakes can be avoided only when you don't stop learning, and also your mistakes will be limited compare to those that don't create the time to study the most important things in Bitcoin investment.

Indeed making money is not easy as you think. It requires patience, commitment and perseverance to accomplish.  The course of quick money sometimes is as a result of greed and impatience and it leads to one falling prey of scammers because they would believe anything they are told without digging into it to do a research themselves to know if truly they are hearing the right or wrong thing.

As you have said, mistakes can be avoided when one devotes their time to acquiring knowledge through research and reading. This would give them exposure to what they are inquisitive about thereby  enlightening them more about the matter for which they seek to know as the case may be.
1743  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk; a school on its own. on: July 03, 2023, 10:57:39 PM
Bitcointalk is indeed a better place to build new networks of people and learn different things everyday in the cryptocurrency space. Do we pay a tuition fee here? I think its different from a school, the education we get here is exceptional, as we learn through individual efforts and also practice what we've learnt here, it helps to cement the ideas on our brain. The forum has histories or stories like any school, we have threads to point back and reflect on, which helps us to recall that many prominent bitcoin users once used this platform.

Truly we make friends and connect here by virtue of communicating with each other and contributing our knowledge and ideas in one way or the other for members of this platform to learn. Here we learn, unlearn, and relearn on course to acquire more knowledge of the new crypto and bitcoin development and innovation. As you have said, this platform setting is quite different from a school setting as things are done here individually when one decides to put efforts into their course of learning and contributing while they remain on board this platform.
1744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Not your keys, Not your coins" is not enough on: July 03, 2023, 10:41:38 PM
I think if you say "not your keys, not your coins" consider that you don't have to use CEX. Because what I have observed in the market is that when terms to this kind of exchanges you don't own the private key. You ask why people choose CEX, in my opinion, it's because of CEX is fast and you can easily transfer funds to Funding, Spot Wallet, and Futures Account without any fees. In fact, people mostly uses this exchange for businesses. So since "not your keys, not your coins", it's better to stay away your funds to CEX when you're just holding it for a long time.

I think in terms of trading, CEX got more advantage than DEX as CEX have a good platform and base for traders to ply their trading. No fees and easy access to funds instead of paying fees to transfer or swap continuously but at that, your funds are still not safe. Your details with them are not secured at some point, they are likely going to leak your information to third parties in exchange for whatever they deem fit to get. So the idea of "not your keys, not your coin" is not bad but a piece of advice in advance to take caution while dealing with CEX as they can not be trusted to handle funds and data safely.
1745  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whats your thought on: July 03, 2023, 08:54:58 PM
The sudden surge in bitcoin price is a reaction to market demand which came as a result on purchase from bitcoin whales and possible investors. The pump is not a pump as you think because bitcoin current price has not gone beyond the previous all time high. Not until it is above the all time high, then we can categorically say that bitcoin has pumped but as for now, let us say bitcoin is retracing until it is above the previous all time high.

Reserve

Are you booking for reservations to go see a movie at a cinema? I wonder why people fail to read and follow instructions when it is visibly clear to all to see. When actions are taken for this act they start crying foul when in the real sense they fail to hid to instructions.

The spot available is for hero members to apply not full member rank. You can keep checking for spot when the time avails itself.
1747  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk; a school on its own. on: July 01, 2023, 02:08:22 PM
Bitcointalk is unlike any other platform I e found myself in and the fact that you can share ideas and different views on topics not only limited to Bitcoin is what makes the forum more appealing.

I'm surprised you say that. Have you never come across any other online forum? To me, Bitcointalk doesn't seem all that different from any other forum community, except for the signature advertising thing, which I think is only on bitcointalk.org. Online forum platforms have been around for ages and are still super popular as social media platforms. Some are all about specific topics or industries, but there are also general forums where you can chat about pretty much anything. Even Reddit started out as a simple online forum.
So far I have come across lots of platform and social medias, non has that unique features or capacity as bitcointalk platform does. As such, bitcointalk is more of an educative space where people of the same bitcoin  passion for bitcoin drive meet, discuss and get acquainted with each other anonymously as it is in bitcoin.  People of like mind educate themselves and others willing to learn more of bitcoin here and other activities too are involved which differentiates this platform from others.
1748  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk; a school on its own. on: June 30, 2023, 11:51:30 PM
Indeed this platform is more of an educational center. We can call it a school, bitcoin academic center.  Anyone who wants to learn more about bitcoin should be recommended to come here for further studies. The platform is vast and wide with bitcoin information one could think of. Not only that there has always been people out there to help the newbies to learning more about bitcoin and how it works.

Here people are guided to be able to detect scammers and potential scams, fake projects and genuine ones come to talk of it great projects have emanated from the support of this platform as a result of the section made for that.
Indeed OP, you really did justice to your topic.
1749  Other / Meta / Re: What does post quality really mean on: June 30, 2023, 10:57:22 PM
One good feature of this forum is that, no one specific way of justifying how the distribution of merits work. A quality post can be abandoned with no single merit, despite receiving lots of commendation from members on the comment section. The distribution is decentralized, only people with Smerit can give out merits to a post that pleases their expectations after going through the write up. If you judge it that way, OP, it means members who have over 10,000 posts and 3000 merits are sharing low quality contents in the forum, it's wrong. Every member has a particular user who awarded them the most merits, showing it's a personal expectation, but then the post is always worth the merits. Hence every quality poster suddenly gets merited and most times never thought the post will get some merits.

You are right mate. I think most of what you have said seems correct because it is not all boards merit source look at for the time being. hence they have their thread for possible applications for merit because there are some posts believed to be lacking merits so in that case one needs to submit their good quality post to get rewarded with merit as that is the only way their post could be noticed.
1750  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Invest small money and get big money avoid them. on: June 30, 2023, 10:48:44 PM
It is funny and laughable how people still fall for these scams and pyramid schemes in this modern-day developed world if not for the greed that pushes and makes them feel they would get rich quickly forgetting that scammers have them in mind to get hold of as a result of their greed.
As a result of their ignorance without proper research, they also fall victim. How on earth would someone tell me to invest such amount of money and get x10 of it in return within a short period men you gat me reasonably for once o. No be this current Naija person go just dey like that money they fly enter account like that o.
1751  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: New KuCoin kyc policy!!! on: June 30, 2023, 10:36:19 PM
This na one reason why e dey good make a person make sure say dem get KYC approval before dem do anything with the exchange because if anything happen to say them never verify their account dem begin to move funds and e come be say come dey, their funds dongo be dat o.
I get an account with Kucoin then and I dey do trading there but I never make the mistake of me leaving my funds there for any reason. I also received the message too but of what use is it to me when I do not have anything there and nothing to do with them. I detest kyc and better still remain not engaged with all these exchanges with kyc rules with their poor security system to protect customers' identity and details.
1752  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: CZ called Binance Nigeria scam entity on: June 30, 2023, 10:20:07 PM
I never hear dat kind news, and yes scammers can imposter the company. Binance might be operating online only in Nigeria. And if they are operating without registering is bad. And probably because of that Nigerian government said, Binance is operating in the country illegal. But the question is how can binance operate in the country asking customers KYC without the permission of the government. The tori is not clear for me.

Abobi na so we see am o. Monkey hand really dey inside  pot of soup o. I come dey wonders how dem take dey access our bvn, nin and other documents wey dem dey requires for kyc and how dem dey takes know say the documents na original and also to dey detect fake one if dem dey claim says dem no get any link or office for Naija here.  Wonders dey say never ends o.
1753  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship between social media and Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 10:10:48 PM
Social media is full of scammers for which we all know. Before the advent of social media, scammers do exist and dey do that face to face with their victims years before now not to talk of now when is some worth manipulative by them to get what they want without meeting with their victims face to face. Before one does anything financially related online one needs to be very sure and must have done his/ her own research before engaging so as not to cry foul in the entire end of it.
This makes social media two sided known for the good and the bad with advise of being careful on how you deal with strangers online.
To be fair, there are still locals around my area that uses social media to do some crypto transaction since not everyone here knows that this forum exists anyway. Considering that you can create so many accounts in social media sites like Facebook with fair interval without getting questioned, it's far more prone to scammers recurring over and over again.

Here in the forum, you cannot just make a new account and expect to victimize or scam people that easily considering that there are ranks and reputation system in here although I know that there were still reputated members in here that just went dark to leave other users to dust. You can't just really trust anyone online.

No doubt their are many locals that do use social media to do their business publicity and it has been helpful to them in one way or the other and you can not trust anyone online and that calls for more caution when dealing with people online when it gets to do  business. One thing i like more of this platform is the safety one gets when dealing, scrutiny, and other exercise  that follows before one gets involved in deals or looking for services here. There is always open room for members to conduct their due diligence before getting  engaged with any vendor. That makes this platform very much unique and still to that extent there still scammers so one need to be extremely careful who they deal with here.
1754  Other / Off-topic / Re: Antivirus on: June 30, 2023, 10:00:18 PM
I really do not use antivirus because I do not see any strength in them as they can not guarantee the safety of my assets and my computer. Their presence even makes my gadgets more prone to hackers and other malware so I do not bother using any but there are some that are being mentioned here like Avast and the Norton antivirus can be fine but that does not guarantee the safety of your personal computer or laptop as the case may be. I try my possible best to keep the system that I use for storing my assets away from too much internet connection and also avoiding clicking and excess downloading of unknown links into my system.
1755  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Board explanation for newbies on: June 30, 2023, 09:02:23 PM
Ibelieve before you opened this thread, you saw some pinned post at the top of this board. There you can read to see all about your question pertaining to this board. As you have said, there are different boards here and each has it own function and post.

Writing or creating a topic in the wrong board would definitely warrant a moderator or an admin to move it to the appropriate board or possibly if other members come across such, your attention would be called to moving it to the appropriate board.

These are the reasons why newbies are advised to take time t read forum policies and guidelines and also read the posts of high reputable ranked members here so as to get more clues how and where  they write as it pertains to the content of their article or message they are passing across.
1756  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 400$ Loan defaulted by [Yabes] on: June 30, 2023, 07:25:57 PM
So sorry about your experience sir. This is the second time this is happening within a short time interval. It seems the borrower has long planned this exit scam purposely with the way I saw it. What makes it that easier is the fact that there is no collateral for the loan so it is easy for the borrower to do away with the loan. I see it was paid directly to the binance account of the borrower. I will suggest you write binance with the loan evidence and screenshot for a backup proof of your petition for them to see and possibly take actions against the borrower. If possible, they go help you out with details to help you recover back your money.
1757  Other / Meta / Re: What does post quality really mean on: June 30, 2023, 06:56:35 PM
Alot of persons on this forum always advise newbies on post quality.my question is simple and on behalf of other newbies like my self is it necessary to monitor your activity and post count in comparison with your merits

Like does it mean  someone with and account say
Activity;50
Merit;87
Post;51

Has more quality post or is a better poster than someone with say
Activity;100
Merit;87
Posts;150

From my observations, Possibly, the first account holder gained more merits as a result of his or her contributions with good effort posts either answering newbies or discovery of errors or lapses which makes them get more merits. While the second possible had low efforts post which did not really yielded merit for them.

I think sometimes it is also as a result of boards where some majorly post. There are some boards where attention is not given much so in that aspect the possibility of getting merit rewards for a quality post there is small only if one applies for meriting through any of the merit source threads.
1758  Other / Meta / Re: Can activity back to 0? on: June 30, 2023, 05:29:35 PM
The activity reduction as explained by other members are very correct. There is always a reason for post deletion which only the poster knows about. Normally, when your post increases, it is counted based on the set count as already programmed for two weeks or thereabouts which sums up to give you your activities.

Deleting  your posts would not affect your merits earned but your rank as well would definitely drop because your rank depends on your activities to increase.
OP seems you have made some observations here. It shows how fast and a good learner you are.
1759  Economy / Gambling / Re: 😺 RollCat.io 🚀 Provably Fair 🔒 Crazy Multipliers 🎰 Free Hourly Coins 💰 on: June 30, 2023, 03:41:51 PM
I really have not seen any tangible response from OP on this thread. Op was asked about minimum deposit and withdrawal but no response yet. OP has not really said anything about the casino license and has been coming online without response or commenting.
After I had done my search on the casino, there are lots of things yet to be uncovered about this casino I see it is only just one game which is the spinning game and nothing else. Their terms of service is brief and scanty nothing tangible to hold unto. I was wondering why they had no KYC which is always the first thing casino request for or they are just putting it out of their procedures to lure members to register amd after that they start telling everyone upon withdrawal to pass KYC first before withdrawal as this has been their tactics for getting members rush in their casino site.
1760  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship between social media and Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 03:22:56 PM
Social media are full of scammers, even in a legit cryptocurrency group, scammers can't be avoided especially if your post obviously says you're a newbie that need a guide in cryptocurrency, trust me, your DM will be flooded by fake accounts who are offering you "help". Lot of people in social media always fall to ponzi schemes, or pyramiding investment, in short, those too good to be true kind of investment. .
Actually, scammers were active even before social media was founded. Their objective is to identify a possible victim, particularly one who lacks knowledge. Because they can engage with others online, it will make easier for them to find a victim. But I completely disagree that social media is bad because it contributed to the success of Bitcoin. The social media in Bitcoin has both pros and cons, depending on how we look at it.
Social media is full of scammers for which we all know. Before the advent of social media, scammers do exist and dey do that face to face with their victims years before now not to talk of now when is some worth manipulative by them to get what they want without meeting with their victims face to face.
