You remember it correctly. Tottenham eliminated Ajax in that season thanks to the away goal rule. Ajax's effort really deserved appreciation. It was the same for Tottenham also of course as they reached the finale. But Liverpool defeated them by 2-0 and prevented Tottenham from winning their first ever Champions League title.

There are quite many different teams in last 16 round now indeed. We might see at least one of them in the semi finals also. But I think this time there won't be any surprising team in the finale. I just expect and hope to see two big title contenders clashing for being the champion. I strongly believe that one of them will be Manchester City. But it is much harder to predict their opponent. Actually I'm hoping to see Real Madrid there. This would be one of the best matches for a Champions League finale.

I will be wondering about Liverpool's performance after the returnal of the World Cup.

They couldn't even win the half of the matches they have played in the league so far - 6 wins. Actually their productivity is not too bad now. It is like they have scored two goals in each match. But the main problem has mostly been related to their defense line. We have witnessed even van Dijk playing poorly for some time. Of course every solid player has bad times but this wasn't the right time for that truthfully. Because it was the time Liverpool needed him playing strongly the most.

But on the other hand things have started to get better for them taking the last two match weeks into account. Especially a win against a big team like Tottenham has given them a good boost. Klopp will hope for not seeing important injuries from now on to be able to keep up the good work.

Milan are a little underperforming comparing to the previous season and I wonder the reason. I'm aware of Napoli's unbelievable form but Milan could have still been right behind them by a small gap. They are the victim of losing points in some easy matches of them. On the other hand they have some missing players due to injuries also - such as Saelemaekers, Gabbia, Florenzi, Calabria and Maignan. Saelemaekers is a really important part of this team now. His skills were a big help for Milan last season. Tatarusanu is a really old goalkeeper (36) and he has conceded 12 goals in 12 matches in total so far. Maignan's absence is really felt at this point. Maybe he has similar stats but he is a much better goalkeeper with his great saves also.

This break might be good for them to get prepared better for the other half of the season. They will just hope for not having serious issues with injuries after the World Cup before anything else.

Mbappe had a really huge opportunity to sign for Real Madrid last summer. But he chose money and stayed at PSG. Of course he got an amazing contract offer and probably Real Madrid weren't preparing to offer such contract to him. Considering that Real Madrid is his "dream team", I would expect him to leave for them. He just thought that this amount of money would be enough for a complete happiness. However if PSG fail in winning the Champions League title one more time then it might be really difficult for them to keep him.

This time he would rather join Real Madrid if gets an official offer again. This might be the right choice for him to win the Champions League title as Real Madrid have been in a great condition about this so far.

As far as I can see there is no option to bet on this match now. This has made me a little sad because it'd have been fun. It is BO1 and the map is Train. I must admit that I've really missed this map since it was removed from the map pool in tournaments. I've always wondered why they removed it also. I knew that Cache was removed due to fps problems. But if I'm not wrong there wasn't such thing on Train. Anyway I'm favouring Brazil for the win and they are already 3-0 ahead.

Believe it or not, Newcastle are really doing it now. Even though they haven't made big transfers properly their performance is still incredible. I really wonder to what they owe this performance. They have been on a winning streak like five matches. This streak has helped them too much as they have captured the third place from Tottenham. Tottenham's bad form also played a big role in this of course. But this doesn't change the fact that Newcastle are still better than Tottenham now. They proved it by defeating Tottenham 2-1 away also.

This season is just much more enjoyable than the previous one in my opinion. I was really getting bored to see the Manchester City dominance for years. But now Arsenal are fighting for the championship seriously. Even Newcastle are very close to Manchester City right now.

Leipzig have been one of the attention getting teams for some time. I mean that they haven't got any loss in the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB Pokal all since October 1. This means 13 matches so far. They got really important or big wins during this time period also. They defeated Freiburg not long ago and they even manage to defeat Real Madrid in the Champions League. They are really unlucky to have a draw against Manchester City there though but the group stage was really good for them.

Now we are watching them in the second place in the Bundesliga standings also. They are doing a great job about keeping both big tournaments solid for themselves for now. There will be a long break from now on and the injury report will be very important after the World Cup. Who knows maybe this time they can manage to keep up with Bayern Munich for a longer time for the league title.

It was a huge character that was put by FURIA into the series. Although they were 1-0 behind on the maps they didn't give up and fought back hard against NaVi. This ambition and the support of the fans helped them make an epic comeback in the series and eliminate NaVi by 2-1 at the end. s1mple was showing off a lot at first but he was really devastated after this result.

On Mirage which was the last map, FURIA did an amazing work after the score came to 10-10. They won 6 rounds in a row and destroyed NaVi. NaVi players were really desperate to defend them on CT side. In one round, they killed all of FURIA players but couldn't defuse the bomb because of not buying even one kit.    There were amazing clutches by FURIA during the map also. It must be incredibly awesome for the supporters to have a team of their nationality in the semi finals now in a Major tournament which is also in Brazil.  

It looks like Arsenal will finish this half of the season ahead of Manchester City. Because they have a very comfortable match against Wolves. Wolves are another team that are performing way different than last season. They were in the middle group back then but now they are in the relegation area. They have defensive issues such as Leicester however they have huge issues with scoring goals also. Scoring only 8 goals in 14 matches is alarming for the rest of the season. Ruben Neves scored the half of it. Maybe it is related to Raul Jimenez's injury right now. As his return date is unknown Wolves had better sign a striker in January.

I think Arsenal won't have much trouble about defeating them. I expect the same thing from Manchester City also. They had a hard time defeating Fulham after the red card. I don't think such scenario will happen again.

Yeah, qualifying is earlier this time so I expected the drivers to care about FP1 more. There were 3 drivers in 0.009s and this was really fascinating. 

It was a solid session for Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes all. Sprint is going to be more important than qualifying of course. Drivers can collect extra points in this session however having a good place at the end of qualifying is also important to climb the positions easier in sprint. I think that Leclerc might be able to get the pole position in qualifying. Verstappen has less number of pole positions compared to Leclerc (6 against 9). Ferrari can manage to be ahead of Red Bull in this session at least.

Atalanta and Lazio are not even among these teams but I see. Atalanta's form has decreased a lot recently. Actually things are going very well for Lazio as they are at the second spot now. Maybe they can join the biggest title contenders if they keep this up more.

When it comes to Inter and Juventus, it is really interesting to see the odds like this indeed. Juventus actually have more impressive statistics than Inter I think. They are the least conceded team in the league with only 7 goals. Even though they had bad times before, they have improved their results a lot recently. They won all of their last five matches in the league. They even defeated Inter a short time ago. If they can do this with many missing players I just see them as a better team than Inter now.

I'm curious about Napoli's performance the most now. The group stage went very well for them. While I was thinking about Liverpool to finish as leader and Napoli - Ajax duo would fight for the second spot, Napoli just destroyed my prediction with a solid effort. It is obvious that they seem ready for the other favourites of the Champions League title also.

There will be a long break until last 16 round matches start. Napoli were fired up back in the group stage and they will need to keep this level despite this long break. Frankfurt are their first victim. Frankfurt surprisingly managed to reach next round by the last group matches. But they will most probably be desperate against Napoli. I expect a solid work by Napoli to threaten the other teams more. Maybe they aren't among the title contenders on paper but it is up to them to get in there.

First of all, these teams all have comfortable groups for themselves. I expect all of them to finish as leaders. However I don't expect a finale among these teams. I mean that I expect one of them to be in the finale but their opponent might be a less expected team. Who knows maybe Netherlands or Belgium could make it there. Besides it is the last World Cup for Messi and Ronaldo both. I know that many people would like to see a Portugal - Argentina finale.    But I don't think Portugal can reach the finale for now. We need to see their effort first to make a clearer decision. Otherwise of course it would be lovely to watch these legends playing against themselves again in a very special match.

fnatic couldn't show much resistance against Outsiders on both maps today. First a 16-11 win on Inferno and later a 16-8 win on Mirage. There was a good cooperation between fame and Jame on Inferno. FL1T's performance on both maps was really effective in this 2-0 win by the way. 20+ kills on these maps were a good example of a strong effort.

Now we have a MOUZ - Cloud9 series in less than an hour. Cloud9 are highly favoured @1.33. It is 2.95 for MOUZ win. MOUZ couldn't have a comfortable run so far as some of you indicated. Actually they have the capability to upset top teams now. They are actually already at the 7th position in the world rankings also. Considering Cloud9 are only two places above them the odd difference is quite big. I think it is worth giving MOUZ a chance at this attracting odd. 

Bookmakers are favouring Manchester City for the championship incredibly much now. Their odd is 2.60 for the championship while the closest team to them (which are Bayern Munich) have a 7.50 odd. While Liverpool and PSG are sharing a 9.50 odd, the last champion Real Madrid's odd is 13.00.

I understand why there is a huge gap among Manchester City and the other teams. Haaland is the biggest factor for Manchester City to be this much clear favourite. I'm a little surprised with Bayern Munich's being favoured more than PSG. But maybe it is related to the group stage performances. PSG didn't impress much as they couldn't beat Benfica and lost the lead to them. Real Madrid are just waiting behind these teams silently. We shouldn't disregard them easily for the championship. I'm even thinking about placing a bet on them to become the champions again. 

I see some people who think that Simeone should make some changes in his preferences from now on. However I'm even thinking about the probability of his leaving Atletico Madrid at the end of the season. Because this is even a more unsuccessful season comparing to the last one. At least they qualified from their Champions League group last season. But now they are just not even a part of the Europa League anymore after the group stage. It is even doubtful if they can finish the season in top 4 considering the recent effort level.

Maybe it is time for Atletico Madrid to part ways with Simeone and try someone new with different tactics. I believe that this team deserve to play an attacking focused game mostly in a match. There is a very capable squad for this. They shouldn't play very cautiously unless it is really necessary in some kind of an important match.

It is like all the things Napoli would like to see happening are getting real.

Actually I should have understood something might go wrong from the odd of Atalanta win to be very high. Lecce were in a much worse condition than Atalanta in the end but somehow Atalanta still weren't a very clear favourite by bookmakers. It looks like they gave a signal to us. Atalanta were just desperate in defense today. They could have still made up for that by using their productiveness. But they couldn't do this either. How interesting it is to see Juventus winning in this stadium not much time ago but Atalanta not being able to do the same.

Napoli are in a very comfortable position after this result.
