i train with these guys... tell me i'm an eco-hipster..
ignorance is hilarious, as is your desire to have everything your way.

And what am I ignorant of?  And  how do I have a desire to have everything my way?

Such an empty, vacuous response.  Tell me why it isn't.

Because you don't believe in global warming and you just used retarded and homosexual as insults? That's my guess as to the ignorance he was alluding to. By the way, the entire scientific community has come to the consensus that global warming is real. If you think linking to a few youtube videos that claim otherwise is going to outweigh the massive amount of primary literature... well..

Stormia, I unignored you specially for this response.

You are one of the worst trolls in the Blackcoin thread.

After all the FUD you have thrown here, how dare you even show your face?

I am not surprised you are a mint-eco-faq.

Here is a website which you will be too queer to actually read

http://wattsupwiththat.com/

How did you see my response and know to un-ignore me if I was ignored in the first place? Doesn't that block you from seeing that I post? Or just from seeing what I post, but you can still see that I post? (This is an honest question, I've never ignored somebody before so I wouldn't know).

You continue to use homosexuality as an insult.

I have seen that website before, and have had lots of good laughs looking through it.
How about you scour some true scientific literature and provide some concrete examples?
Here are a few reputable journals to start your journey with:
http://pubs.acs.org/
http://www.sciencemag.org/
http://www.pnas.org/
http://www.nature.com/
http://www.cell.com/
http://www.embo.org/

or just use pubmed to search through the collection of all publicly accessible articles: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed

Going to retreat into the shadows again since I've already been labeled a troll for a single comment that wasn't directed at blackcoin or the community, but rather directed at an individual who I personally and professionally disagree with and whom I doubt represents the community as a whole. If nothing else, please stop using homosexual and retarded as insults- it doesn't look intelligent or professional.

That is some good news!

I think Jeff Jefferson said he would pledge 300k as well!

yes, but it REALLY has to mint. otherwise it's just another android wallet of a coin. we need to make the difference guys. I also think its not that necessary to use an escrow. I think MINT users are sincere and honest people, am I right?  Roll Eyes

I also had the concerns about the upcoming android wallet being open source so the others just can copy it. So I would propose a simple not open source app at first in the google play store. Than after a month or two the source code should be released.

This is privately offered bounty for a working prototype, upon public delivery. Offered separately from other bounties that may exist.

So far the total is:

mgburks77:      250,000
stormia:          125,000
garicson:         200,000
jeff jefferson:   100,000
moderndezigns:200,000

Total:          875,000

Bonus for wallet that mints:
mgburks77:     250,000
jeff jefferson:   200,000
moderndezigns:50,000

Total: 500,000

Total Total: 1 375 000  Grin

I'm sure there are other people willing to contribute!

Looks like gonzoucab said he would donate for a wallet that is fully functional and mints as well. (Sorry if I am misunderstanding your post. I don't want you to get left off the list if you are, though!):

I can pledge 125K for when a fully functional wallet that mints is deployed.

Im also asking a developer for a twitter bot, maybe i will fund myself alone. is not too much. Smiley

We are better, we are greener we are mint.

Well stormia, i will improve my pledge, i will give the same ammount as you in the same conditions, whatever you decide i will apport the same!

Well, in that case, I will add another 75K of donations to the bonus for a wallet that mints! Thanks for showing your support gonzoucab and compelling me to increase mine Grin

Just wanted to bump this so we can return focus to the important tasks at hand now, like the android wallet. I may have cut off some pledges because this quote was from a while back. Going back to the open source issue, I think we should (and currently have to) keep it open source. Perhaps other coin communities that want this be accomplished could donate as well?

I've PMed the dev of eccoin so they can apply the fix before they transition to 1coin/PoW block PoS:PoW hybrid (they are still in initial PoW phase so are not in any danger atm). If anybody can think of other coins which might need to apply the fix and haven't yet, please inform them.
1765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Security analysis of PoW/PoS hybrids with low PoW reward on: April 02, 2014, 10:19:35 PM
Not really a big deal, if it is an issue just fork it to not accept any more POW blocks.

Looks like I called it on the first page. Thanks rat4 for exposing the flaw and not leaving anybody with a bag of unconfirmed mints. Good guy dev makes competing coin more secure.

+1. And sorry for being rude and assumptious with my initial post of this thread, it was uncalled for.

No problem. We felt it was the right thing to do. #behonestincrypto is important for us!

Update on the potential security issues mentioned earlier.

As a cautionary measure and since MINT does not really need PoW, we have decided to get rid of the PoW. We don't want to take any security risk.
And since our ego is less important than your hard earned money, we won't have any problem to be thankful to another coin dev if it appears he has helped to increase MintCoin's security.

If it appears? What a joke.

Dishonest dev, dishonest community.

yes it should have been worded/said differently. agree.

You guys can be as nit-picky and negative as you want but what matters is that the problem is fixed and our dev thanked rat4. It's time to move on.

Thank you for your help Blackcoin community, you know which people you are (rat4, Soepkip, etc). Perhaps now we can put our differences aside and work together or at the very least coexists as pure PoS coins.

Let's stay off Blackcoin's thread unless we have something nice to say.

Agreed. This should be the norm.

On behalf of rat4, you're welcome.

+1

rat4 is a genius developer and was very kind to point this problem out to the MINT community before it was exploited by unsavoury characters. He just saved your coin a whole load of grief.

+1 Guys you have to admitted Rat4 did the coin a favor and the Developers. Time to end the war with BC enough welcome to POS or you can just trade your mInt for BC

Sigh.. some of us never wanted a war Sad

I'm sorry to say, but can we please stop with the BC vs. Mint BS.

Cheers

If the same people that are ALWAYS starting crap in Mintcoins forums quits I'm fine with it and will move on too and let you guys scam whoever you please although I don't feel it's right I cant save the world. Also the crap this morning about attack shit was a bit much and it would be nice if blackcoin folks were trying to be helpful but from history one can't make such assumptions.

You should just make a new account and start over. You've not only hurt your own position, but the position of the rest of the MINT community. And I say that owning some MINT myself. While I'm not active in the MINT community, I do like to be diversified and you haven't made me feel good about my MINT position at all today.

I should have just posted this over in the MINT thread, but then I might get accused of being a troll too.

Why diversify into MINT when they are having issues, big ones?

The issues are being fixed, so you can give up the fear-mongering now. Thanks.

That doesnt mean that, mint will keep Hybryd!

read:

We are changing cutoff of blocks that attack, but this parametter need to be adjusted for the network size.

I doesnt need a FORK!!!

Clean solution from DEVS!
1775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *24 Exchanges *38 Merchants on: April 02, 2014, 09:01:02 PM
I actually wondered why they left POW in to begin with. Since the block reward is only 1 coin I can't imagine anyone doing POW??

That's just cos they didn't know what they were doing and thought it would bring enhanced protection of the blockchain (I guess a reasonable enough assumption if someone isn't familiar with code and just forked peercoin from github without understanding it). But it actually weakened the blockchain.

I think it's a smart move to follow Blackcoin's lead and copy the pure proof of stake approach.

Whether the Mintcoin knows how to handle a pure proof of stake coin, that is a separate matter. You'll see what I mean by that.

Nobody was aware of this issue, not just the mintcoin dev. There are many other PoS/PoW hybrids with low PoW block reward, I hope they have been informed as well. We (or at least I) am thankful that this problem was identified before it could be exploited. It looks like the fix may not use Blackcoin's pure PoS approach, so how about you wait and see before you continue to troll.

Mintcoin Foundation
Android wallet
PR and advertising

So, MINT is kinda weak right now and it's probably a good time to strike. Hypothetically, let's say a whale with a lot of MINT and BTC wanted to destroy MINT, what would he have to do? I don't think it is as simple as just dumping MINT into the ground, is it? If the whale were to buy up some BC, then dump on MINT, would that mean the MINT bagholders will drop their holdings and maybe move into BC, thereby pushing BC to the moon? I'm getting the feeling that BC is superior to MINT because we have a better community and better dev, rat4, who looks for problems to fix, whether it benefits BC or not.
"who looks for problems to fix, whether it benefits BC or not."
I think he was expecting, or at least many within the BC community were hoping, that exposing this would have driven BC up. Why is BC being dumped right now? Something we don't know about?
BC went up in price. 24 hour volume reached 7,405 satoshis. It has only dropped a little, by about 14%. MINT has dropped by about 25%.

Is this security issue with hybrids gonna be a problem?

If it is a problem, then I don't see why it can't be fixed. Just need people to work together and be patient.

You guys here make more Blackcoin PR as you think here.

All those bashing makes you look like being jealous, focus should be on MINT not on BC here or not?

Agree completely. Like they say "all press is good press". Too many trolls lately talking about random coins in other coins ann threads.

That's funny since the people that continue talking about other coins are the loudest supporters of this coin in this thread.

Atleast we've finally acknowledged there is somewhat of a threat.

I asked a prominent figure of this community why he liked mint so much and he told me it was because he liked the community.  I came here to get a fix in place before something malicious could happen.  Since then it's been attack after attack after attack.  Someone mentioned how new mint investors would be wary of this coin, don't forget about current members of the community.

I'm heading back to lurker mode, i will answer any PM's if anyone wants to ask me any questions.

Don't get the wrong idea about the community, it is only a few who are behaving defensively and the behavior is more than a little provoked by the trolling of some members of a different community.
