Truly, holding your assets on Centralized exchange is not worth the risk. Holding it there is just like you pouring water into the basket. You have no access to the private key only them, you are not in charge of your assets only them, they trade and make profit from your assets and you do not share the profit with them, when they get hacked, you suffer the loss and they do not because they have external storage safe for their assets which you know nothing about and in all, you are being charged fee for trading, withdrawal as well. So with all these do you think in the right sense it is advisable to keep holding your assets with CEX?

OP it is nice you received such mail and i commend them for that as it is amongst what they should be doing to keep customers abreast ahead of time to get them engaged as well.

Lastly, it is advisable to make such you scale through any kyc you have done with any exchange before moving your asset to the exchange so as not to be told the story that touches the hearth.
1762  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you start your posting life as a newbie??? only for full mem, Sr and leg on: June 30, 2023, 02:42:03 PM
The basic thing for the forum is dedication and interest. If you have interest to learn about cryptocurrency and you come across this forum then that will become a primary interest to be here and dedicate time for it. This should be the driving force before any other thing. Merit system is what was introduced to the forum around 2018 so it was not there from beginning, don't focus on merit or be so worked up about it but if you give the best in your dedication and improve on your contribution, the merit will be attracted to you.

Merit is not everything since even if we don't get that we can still learn a lot of things here. So maybe newbies should not focus to accumulate that since its little bit annoying if they cannot get it since not all the time people will send some merit on every post they made. They should treat that as a bonus so that they will not expect anything huge from this and if they target to join on any campaign then maybe they should not rush all things and be a good contributor since this will came if they contribute a relevant post quality to all people here.

Yes, the platform is very vast that there are still things yet to be learnt and even at then, as we learn the little we know here more things and discoveries comes up that we still need to learn too keeping it a clockwise activities to learn again and again continuously as we all know learning is a continuous process. Some how, merits are some worth encouraging and as a matter of fact encourages more work from members here. Permit me to say this that merit seems to be the beauty of ones efforts onboard this platform because with it, one grows in rank and also you see it as a  result and efforts of your labour and contribution here.
1763  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rollbit disabling account and confiscating balance of $410 on: June 30, 2023, 02:29:21 PM
Rollbit has a good reputation which they have built for themselves here long before now but these sudden complaints coming these days baffle me a lot.  Is it that team changed hands in leadership or so, it is only when such happens and incompetent hands take over the management of a system with an entirely new policy that affects the structure entirely. Because from the conversation I had read, I see no basis with proof on which they had accused op of. From the conversation, one could tell something was not really well with both parties involved.
Just as the others have advised OP I will join force too to tell op to chat with their representative here
1764  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do when you have Financial Freedom? on: June 30, 2023, 01:36:20 PM
OP I believe you know one of the economic principles that says man is an insatiable being and going by that, I really think no matter how one becomes, one would definitely want to reach the next phase of life after achieving the stage in which they are. If you would agree with me, the world richest man is still working to making sure he retains his position as the number 1 in the world likewise the second richest man.  Then is it you that is yet to achieve 0.0000002% of their achievement would comfortably sit and start feeling arrival mentality.
OP I just think is laziness if one  does that as a result of the little income on their business and they feel they have arrived.
1765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I got my stubborn neighbour working for a central bank to adopt Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 01:22:28 PM
I strongly believe these men are fully into Crypto but the law governing the system where they find themselves would not allow them to do so. From your conversation at first I observed that he had to put up some form of  ignorance not minding he is a banker and a director for that matter. These are just what they do to divert attention from them. Most of them do Crypto and own bitcoin secret or would you tell me that they know nothing about it and it's importance?
Lastly from your chat log, he made it clear to you that that his son and wife keeps on troubling him about it but the law within the CBN does not allow it which means they are fully aware and possibly he is just denying the fact that he has something doing with it.
1766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Considerations Before Investing in Bitcoin - For Beginner on: June 30, 2023, 01:02:02 PM
OP, it is nice you took out time to write this little article to help newbies here. This would guide them a bit about the system and how it evolves but I think this is not the right place for such post. You can move it to beginners and help board here so that newbies can see it and ask questions if the need be.

OP I believe this write up was culled out from somewhere. Why not put the source for us willing to do further research and findings as regards this topic matter so we can widen our intellectual horizons further.
1767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gospel Preachers: Is Bitcoin the Last Currency in the World? on: June 30, 2023, 10:44:06 AM
I had to read through to see things for myself as there are lots of explanations as regards this particular scriptural verse by many. To my best understanding, I do not think Bitcoin is the last financial evolution that could or would take place on Earth. The way bitcoin emanated, so it is others will come and go and it continues that way till the appropriate time as it was written in the bible. Bitcoin like one of the posters said is solely dependent on the internet and electricity and not everyone could afford it that way but rather fiat could and if that last currency could emanate, I believe it could be fiat not digital because there must have to be a medium whereby everyone would be on the same state of transferring and accepting such currency.
1768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship between social media and Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 10:29:22 AM
Most probably most people heard BTC for the first time on social media, not on TV or radio. The generation today doesn't even watch or read news on news sites but on social media.

Totally Agree social media is a powerful weapon even kids nowadays watch phones like crazy, Im adult but yeah Im watching phone like crazy too Good news till bad news about crypto is on social media so that its why social media and cryptocurency is just like a friend

and become one of the biggest tool to promote new coin/token. even myself scrolling tweets to see some newest crypto news
Social media is not only a powerful weapon, but in my opinion, it has become an indispensable part of our lives. Not only does it have a positive/negative impact on bitcoin, but it affects our daily lives, it's almost impossible for us to stop using it. Social networks are an integral part of any business or individual, apart from the elderly and disabled, I don't believe anyone can survive without social networks.
As for the cryptocurrency market, I see that social networks bring more benefits than harm, without a social network for us to share opinions freely, many people still do not know about the existence of bitcoin. I am also someone who knows bitcoin through social networks.

Indeed it is "indispensable part of our lives"  sir. These days, businesses rely solely on social media for strong advertisement and publicity. I remember back in the days before the inception of the social medias, people do go to the TV stations and radio stations for advertising and awareness which i believe not every body has because before one could get those gadgets, it cost much and they are not mobile but this current dispensation is no longer so compared to the past with your smartphone, you can view updates from any part of the world from your social media handle and as well make advert and promotional content online with no much stress. This is the point at which the social media has gotten to.

1769  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you start your posting life as a newbie??? only for full mem, Sr and leg on: June 30, 2023, 09:57:43 AM
My posting life as a newbie was through a lack of knowledge about cryptocurrency and as a one-liner poster because I join the forum through an altcoin which is now quenched off the market but it was introduced to me by a friend. Almost giving up then until I learn that there's more to cryptocurrency and that this forum also has vast benefits that will totally change my understanding of cryptocurrency investment.
Truly mate there is more to cryptocurrency than we think. Initially when i ventured into crypto as a newbie, my thoughts were just about buying and selling  cryptocurrency which is just the least about blockchain and even here too. After i got onboard, I had to do lots of research about this platform and on this platform i worked on my cryptocurrency knowledge and going vast and wide in knowing more about what bitcoin stands for and the sole reason it was invented by Satoshi, there and then i understood the essence of crypto, my reason changed and i began doing lots of activities on crypto and on this platform i worked to making sure i contribute in comments and posts so as to aid newbies scale through the platform. This has been my journey so far.
It's normal for newbies to think that investing in cryptocurrencies involves buying low and selling high, but it's not normal to learn more about the ecosystem. The sad reality is that in the past, it was more difficult to get access to up-to-date information about cryptocurrencies than it is now, where newcomers can quickly find information that will improve their understanding.

Before now as you have said, getting information was very hard as the awareness of crypto was not that popular. If one should be able to get an update about anything crypto then, it must be through any one who has idea and contact of another who is into the system too as you barely get update on it through any medium compared to now that information about crypto and bitcoin is circulated everywhere through social media and lots more.
Nevertheless, as a newbie with no much knowledge about bitcoin and crypto the first thought that sinks into the mind is buying and selling of crypto to making instant profit at the initial time of learning about crypto which is normal but as time goes on with exposure and experience, you find out that it is amongst the least on crypto list and there re more to crypto than just buying and selling and their mentality changes and their thoughts begin to align with the reality that crypto is an evolution of financial freedom and lots more.

1770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship between social media and Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 09:21:23 AM
Social media can have both "good" and "bad" influences on the Bitcoin price and it's success. It takes only one bad post from a well-known influencer for the speculators to run for the hills and to dump their coins.

We are currently seeing that with all the things that are happening with Binance and the SEC. A while ago, Elon Musk said something bad about Crypto currency investments and the price went down.

Elon Musk use social media to push his own agenda and he has been warned not to manipulate markets with his Tweets.  Roll Eyes

You are right Sir. Social media can be used as well to manipulate the market with fud through celebrities and  others. Celebrities with large followership tends to use that as an advantage to persuade or convince their followers through their social media handle to control market trend and to draw attention to products as well.

Big celebrities do this often times and are mostly sort after by big companies. Some of the companies make them brand ambassador because of their large social media followership so they could easily reach out to them. Crypto projects approach them too for promotion because of their large social media followership. So you can see that social media plays a vital role in creating Crypto awareness.
1771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship between social media and Bitcoin on: June 29, 2023, 10:41:06 PM
Social media can not be overlooked in this modern-day world. It has played vital roles in many ways from advertising to information dissemination, makings friends and connecting worldwide, etc.  To the best of my knowledge, social media seems to be the outstanding means of promotion in this current day dispensation for instance, most projects that rose to stardom did promote their projects here, and virtually no project would testify of not using social media trying to build their product and community. Social media is the next to reaching out to the followership of every project through the constant update and also fielding questions from prospective clients and possible consumers and end users.

I am of the opinion that social media played a good role in announcing the presence of Bitcoin's inception. If a survey is to be done now on how people got to know about Bitcoin I believe the majority of the response would definitely point towards social media as their first encounter before possibly being told about it by a friend or family member. I myself am a witness to it as I had a similar experience as I initially explained. Moreover, exchanges did their promotional content on social media which also incorporates the exchange and swap of native tokens, fiat, and other currencies for bitcoin. All this awareness was done through social media. Which I believe they saw as a strategic marketing tool for letting the world know about their presence and the services they rendered which also includes bitcoin trading and storage.

Although there are other negative aspects of it too which has caused more harm than good in the society. FUDs, Scams, Hate speech, etc have been brought to the detriment of the masses through social media which has not gone down well with many. Lives were lost and properties destroyed as a result of social media hype. All these put together are also effects of social media in the world today.
1772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 9.5 million flagged bitcoins on: June 29, 2023, 09:21:13 PM
OP, it should not be a thing of concern or worries as this is an old fashioned news. Bitcoin has no censorship over itself not to talk of any organisation claiming to do such. Bitcoin is an open source for everyone. Buying bitcoin should not be a problem to you as it is not tainted. If exchanges can buy bitcoin and you too can buy from them hen why should you be afraid of buying bitcoin or are you the only one buying bitcoin? Let me remind that there are a million and one persons buying bitcoin from exchanges and have you herd the US government coming after them?
1773  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Can BTC or crypto users play politics in Nigeria? on: June 29, 2023, 07:30:27 PM
We all no that BTC and crypto is illegal in our country, but d government came too late to stop us not to have access to BTC or crypto in d land,
OP, I believe we are all in the same country but I was wondering too when the ban on btc and crypto was placed because to the best of my knowledge, CBN only restricted the banks from carrying out bitcoin and crypto related transaction. Anything that has to be passed into law must be delebrated by the national assembly before it is passed into law for further action as the case may be but i have not heard any law of that nature. Can you please give us the source to that update let us know.

Like what I was told about Nigerian politics, anyone that have huge amount of money and influence always have a good chance to win any political office in Nigeria. but BTC and crypto users have the money or influence for some local political office like councilor position, chairman position, state political office like governor, house of assembly, and federal political office like president, senator and house of representatives, my question is this, can BTC or crypto users play politics in Nigeria by coming out for councilor or other political office and he or she is well know as BTC or crypto users? I see some of our crypto and BTC users here, and dey have the knowledge to function in some political office if such opportunity is be offer or aquire by money or influence.
What is your opinion.

For sure Nigeria politics is all about who get the funds to push for electioneering process and not about the character of individual that is why we find ourselves were we are today. I am not surprised that our politicians are fully into crypto but are not coming forth to say it publicly and this might be the reasons why they kicked against anything that would attack the existence of bitcoin in Nigeria. So far there are many crypto enthusiast in politics, some are even sponsors while some are contestant, some are appointees, etc depending on how the connect is.

In essence, as a smart Nigerian, you have to play safe and be on low keys although btc is not illegal in Nigeria but the ignorant agencies are out to get their own share of the cake without minding the law. Wisdom is profitable to direct.

1774  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: If you get motor, you go pay 1k for proof of Ownership from July on: June 29, 2023, 06:36:47 PM
Snipped

Maybe by now we should be getting prepared to have thing changed unlike the way they appear before, since the emergence of new government, they are planning on creating an additional open ways to source out their revenue generation from different sectors aside from the commonly known task we all subscribe to paying it, what we should expect more is the fairness in seing everything works together for good with the people.

Na so we dey hear o. From change mantra we don enter hope mantra. The policies this new government come with just dey bubble the country. I like the fact say we dey see am very clear but we no really know were the wind dey blow go but I believe say for sure say Naija go better. So far, from the appointments we don see, person fit  tell say Mr. President know wetin him dey do and him dey touch every parastatals and agencies together with the security apparatus of the country. Boarders don open for free flow of goods from the nearby countries dem wey dey  share boarders with Naija.

Lastly, Mr. President don possibly see those loop holes wey dem dey use dey embezzzle funds from their so called government organizational/professional bodies and him don tell dem say from 1st of January come 2024 all of them no go recieve funds from federal government again make dem go generate funds for themselves. This one go make sense say as Mr. President dey do all these things, things g better for civil servants unto say salary increment go dey and their welfare go dey properly taken care.

1775  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Basic Crypto Terminologies Everyone Should Know - Let Me Know Your Score on: June 29, 2023, 01:26:19 PM
This is a good move mate. I actually like the fact that there are lots of good stuff like this coming up every time for newbies to see. It looks more interesting as you have cited more examples to your own write up which makes more sense and I must say if you had done a good research on this platform, you would notice that there are lots of such threads already existing. I think it would have been better to add it to there or possibly cite them here too to add up to their own write up adding yours to the number of posters that have been able to do such tasks by themselves.

I think it would also be of help to others too who are fresh and still having to go through the platform looking for things themselves.
OP, I would suggest you also include a source from where you copied so as to facilitate further research.
1776  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies be wary of this website on: June 29, 2023, 01:16:13 PM
Thanks for for the heads-up OP. As it is now scammers are everywhere looking for unsuspecting victims to scam of their hard earned resources. I pity for those desperate ones who have no idea on what to do when they are in such situations. They fall easily and become the victims of this nefarious act perpetrated  by these scammers.

On a normal, everyone should know that  wallets are a private property and anyone opening a wallet should be able to hold his/her private keys and not give it out to a third party otherwise they stand a chance if being scammed of their resources.

On no account should anybody be fooled by any s called website claiming to be able to recover lost wallets and asking you to pay for their services. Do not deal with them as they are scammers. Only you have access to your wallet as you alone have the private keys to It. Do not disclose your keys to anybody.

Stay safe and protect your assets!
1777  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Dangote and Bill Gates wan close door meeting with the new president on: June 29, 2023, 11:26:15 AM
OP make I ask you too, how dangote take be the problem of Naija issues?  Dangote just dey like all other businessmen and women out there wey dey hustle their way to the top. As a business man wey him be the paddi man gats set him compass to dey incharged. Already him don invite billsgate to Naija to talk with our new president and we all know the outcome of such meeting as e dey go. No forget say billsgate announce a $7billion investment for Naija earlier before now and wetin you imagine go be the outcome of this meeting wey Dem go do so.

See, make I tell you something whether investment come from politicians or not o that wan no concern dangote wetin him dey after na him business and the law no stop am from selling shares to the public and the law as well does not stop Nigerians from investing in businesses or buying shares. Business is business and there is nothing anybody could do about it. So do away with that mentality of who park money go invest or not.

To be frank with you dangote has done much more than what some prominent Nigerians could do. His investment are all here in Nigeria. Foreign investors are coming into the country just because of his business prowess. He has created employment in various industries cut across  Nigeria. Still yet, with the currency devaluation and his drop in line of richest man in Africa he never bothered himself about it. Which Nigerian business man would have such gots for that.
1778  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: If you get motor, you go pay 1k for proof of Ownership from July on: June 29, 2023, 10:09:55 AM
Well I see am say na wetin road safety don want use begin generate revenue for themselves since e be like say federal government don want to begin comot body for plenty organization and telling them to generate funds for themselves. Already federal government din tell federal universities to generate funds for themselves so in that case road safety don begin take the step too dey safeguard themselves before anything go happen.

To your question mate I believe say as na federal government matter, as you pay once, you don pay be that no other state branch of road safety go ask you for am as long as Nigeria dey you fit travel to any state with am unless na say State government don do their own to dey collect same way too because some states dey funny to that extent to set up task force to dey do that one.
1779  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: CZ called Binance Nigeria scam entity on: June 29, 2023, 09:50:45 AM
From my own point of view, I noticed that they were trying to act smart by being too quick to register that name as their own enterprise waiting for binance to make moves to Nigeria and when that happens and it seems some other people have already registered with the name, binance will have no choice than partnership with them. That was the fast game they thought of playing but it backfired and they have lost it all coupled with the new name tag they got from CZ himself which is now a dent on their name.

1780  Economy / Economics / Re: How billionaires are really affecting the economy. on: June 29, 2023, 09:16:01 AM
I get your plights and your points are some worth valid though but I would want you to understand that the rich and possibly billionaires and millionaires all around the world have played a vital role in the world economy irrespective of what we are seeing in the world today. Various countries got to the limelight as a result of the presence of billionaires impact in their society.

The rich looks for ways to acquire information to develop and build up their countries and cities to enviable heights whereby nation's would look up to them for assistance. They create job employment as a result of their industries and mega station they have built in their counties and this attracts foreign investments and billateral trade and diplomatic ties amongst nation's.

Nevertheless, I came across a reply post from this thread by Darker45, though the question is pertinent but you should know that many things happen and people take advantage of situations at their own betterment of which as a smart business man you would do same to remain relevant and at the fire front in the society.
