I can't really see him getting a life sentence, especially when there wasn't any murder victims tied directly to him.
I am curious to see what the outcome of this case will be though.

I can totally see this story being true. Investments should really be agreed upon by both parties and taking it too far can become an addiction much like gambling. In this story, it looks like it escalated quite far.
It can be hard to agree on investments when the other party has different risk-aversion than you or is when the other party is completely biased against a particular investment type such as bitcoin. The other view point does help keep you level headed though and you should never put all your eggs in one investment basket.

Our DB machine got overwhelmed. We're upgrading to a larger machine to handle it, it should take 2mn. After that we hope it will be all good!
Thanks for the update!

I've yet to see any local places accepting bitcoin, but always on the lookout. I know their are some sites that will show you local places that accept bitcoin.

Yeah, they probably doing this due to issues with many banks being against bitcoin transactions would be my guess.
|
|
|
I think banks may be doing this to prevent money laundering rather than just to cause war against bitcoin. Though I can certainly see why the banks would oppose bitcoin as it could threaten their bottom line.

Yeah, you really don't see that much mention of bitcoin in mainstream media lately, but should be more and more as time passes.

This video was actually really well done. It was pretty cool to see the inside of a large bitcoin mining facility like this.
Those extractor fans look pretty powerful lol, wouldn't want to get too close to them.
The employees get to play PC games while monitoring the miners too. Nice!

Luckybit will online today ? update please ?
The final fix and rescan has been underway for a couple days. Lucky Bit will be online once it is completed (assuming nothing else catastrophic happens). This process cannot be accelerated or skipped. so i guess it will take a week more wont it? This was the most recent official announcement: Update #3: We'll need some additional work so we get rid of this issue once and for all. At this point, we will try to do it for Wednesday. Thanks everybody for your patience, keep up the nice memes. Just imagine how much you'll rain when we're back ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)
We cannot predict the exact time the process will be completed. We can estimate that it will be completed sometime tomorrow and hope it completes today, but should be prepared for continued downtime; nobody ever said a week more (or even implied such a thing was remotely possible). My I ask why you guys are not using the blockchain api so you would not need to wait a week this time or next time this happens for the wallet to resync? That would mean relying on blockchain which has its share of issues and downtime occasionally.

Yeah, bitcoins require an active internet connection in order to send them whereas cash does not. An important distinction to make.

This is pretty worrysome and makes me wary of doing bitcoin related transactions through normal banking.
Were the BTC transactions via localbitcoins, Coinbase, or some other exchange?

The volatility is good for investors/traders but not for average folks who are looking to use it to make purchases with. I agree that some sort of stability is needed fore more adoption. The risk of losing value by storing in BTC is not appealing to the masses.
