1761  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2022/2023 on: April 14, 2023, 11:59:07 PM
Al Baten 1 - 0 Al Hilal

wow this is an unexpected result, given that the difference between these two teams was very big, the first big difference between these two teams is in the position of the table, Al Hilal is in position number 4 with 46 points, while Al Baten it is in the last position, it is in position number 16 with only 15 points. the second big difference is in the performance of these two teams in the last 4 games, Al Hilal in the last 4 games had only one defeat and wins and only 1 draw. while he had 2 losses and 2 wins. in this game al hilal had 76% possession of the ball

but surprisingly even with 76% ball possession al hilal failed to make a shot on target, while Al Baten who only had 24% ball possession managed to make 3 shots on target, in this game Al Hilal failed to score at least 1 goal despite having 76% of ball possession, while Al Baten, who only had 24% of ball possession, scored 1 goal. they are a bit funny, on paper it even seemed that Al Hilal were going to be much superior, but on the field the effectiveness was in Al Biten who knew how to take advantage of the opportunity and scored a goal and with that won the game, with this result if the Al Baten get at least 2 or 3 wins in the next games so I see them leaving the relegation zone

Al-Hilal was busy enjoying ball possession while Al Biten was taking all the changes they could have to push their attack. The match is an indication that it is not the team that plays the most entertaining football that finally wins. Al Biten is doing everything possible to escape relegation. Although they are at the bottom of the table but if they can win all their game and another team's performance becomes low, they might come out of the relegation zone. While Al-Hilal lost the opportunity to advance to the top four spots. The end of the season is a very interesting moment in every league because there will always be surprising performances and results.
1762  Other / Meta / Re: why bitcointalk don't advertise anywhere. on: April 14, 2023, 11:23:41 PM
I have never seen: contact me on bitcointalk @Stephen.
Any special reasons for not advertising bitcointalk forum?
And don't we think there will be shortage of users here as time passes?
Running a few advertisements on social media would attract more people to the forum but it will come with some challenges. It will attract a whole range of people that might not have any interest in bitcoin. There will be a high rate of shitposters, scammers, and spammers. So it will have to take extra effort to clean up the forum because most of these new members will treat the forum like social media. The majority of people that register currently in this forum are either referred to the forum or found it through research. The above two mediums will help to reduce the influx of uninterested members.

I don't think members will reduce drastically because Bitcoin awareness is spreading speedily. And Bitcoin price is not doing badly recently which means that more people will be attracted to the sector and the forum.
1763  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Believe is what you don't know. on: April 14, 2023, 10:55:38 PM
I don't want to sound religious but my point is that, I believed in the potential of Bitcoin and its forum/community to the point where be it my earnings come from my dedication and focus to it.
As a newbie my advise for you is to believe in whatever efforts you put in here and truly the outcome would amaze you overtime. Wherein there is no believe in the system and operations of its forum, the task to post comments, create new topics or participate in its competition will only come off as too much work or stress and might lead one to become discouraged and quit in the end.

Believe in what you give your time, focus and energy to and be baffled how the results play out.
I must confess that I find your post interesting but it is very difficult for me to understand the write-up. Most people are in this forum not really because of the gain from the group but because they have confidence that Bitcoin will always be a good currency and investment. As you said, they are believers in this currency. But it might not be proper to relate or compare the confidence you have in Bitcoin and the forum to the faith some people have in their creator. some religions believe that their God is all-powerful and infallible and I don't that Bitcoin or bitcointalk can have such kind of influence.
1764  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin miners in Nigeria on: April 14, 2023, 09:28:09 PM
But the problem is, the electricity that is good here today may become bad, you should be prepare to change your location again. I am not a miner, so I may not have the accurate information. But I know that there are some miners in Nigeria, although they contribute negligible hashrate to the bitcoin network.

I also know of a place in Nigeria with a 24/7 electricity power supply and it is absolutely free because of the presence of the power station there and the agreement the company held with the host community.

I once lived in Afam oyigbo in Rivers state where I discovered that meh the light there was something else and for the period of the 1 year Iived there, the only took the light once and that was because the transformer had a little issue but the light was fixed in less than 3 hours and that was when I began thinking of the possibility of having a mining pool or farm as the case may be and I also tried writing to some persons and entities but got no reply then.

If there is anyone in Nigeria who's into mining and at some point needs a place with absolutely free and constant electricity, then Afam oyigbo should be considered because of the presence of the Afam power station there.
Small small this thread don dey bring good places wey person fit go set up mining business. I bin go visit my friend for Afam one time and the guy carry me go the electricity generating plant. My people I see massive big generator wey dey produce power. My man even tell me say dem no dey pay NEPA bill because na the community dey host NEPA but the light no too steady the way eh dey before because some of the generating set done spoil. Dem arrange some of those power generators since 1982 and the government no dey maintain the station. But I still agree say Afam na good place to mine if them dey still they get constant and free electricity.
1765  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: April 12, 2023, 03:27:03 PM
My guess was right, City won. But three goals really made Bayern Munchen worse. Tuchel seems to have to work hard to rearrange the strategy in Germany later. Two things that Munchen should not do when losing The defense line that often makes mistakes. Then Tuchel, who looked confused, failed to make the most of the substitutions. Three goals are quite heavy, but looking at possession and opportunities should be Bayern Munchen Can make a surprise later.

I never expected that Manchester City will win this match with three goal margin. My predictions was that the game will be a draw because of the presence of Tuchel, but I was surprise to see Bayern play so badly. City was so strong in that game that I began to wonder if they were really playing against a top class team like Bayern. Thomas Tuchel is still new in the club, so I don't expect him to have instant result because he needs time to fix the team. But the return leg in Allianz Arena might be a different game because the Bayern team has the quality to score goals. If they can fix their defensive errors and attack massively, they might get a good result at home.

It will be almost impossible for Benfica to comeback, and for Napoli-Milan the difference here is that Napoli lost to Milan in league so they will be more prepared this time, this is much more important game then that in Seria A

In the champions league anything can happen. Benfica played very poorly but it is possible that they might come back strong in the second leg. We had expected them to get a good result result at home, but it turned out to be the opposite but it is not over until the end of the second leg.
Napoli-Milan game is unpredictable because Napoli is one of the best in Europe but their recent performance is making me doubt their ability to beat Milan. But based on their past performance, Napoli might win this game convincingly.
1766  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Being Russia and Russian now on: April 12, 2023, 02:52:52 PM
Russian banks, oligarchs, and technology imports have been the targets of West Europe and the US sanctions. But ordinary Russians' economic lives haven't being affected much since the war in Ukraine, when they were placed under extensive restrictions meant to decrease Moscow's war chest. Joblessness rate hasn't increases, no plunging money and no lines at banks. The arrangement at the general store is minimal changed, with worldwide brands still accessible or local substitutes replacing them. At some Moscow malls, crowds may have decreased, but not significantly. Local brands have replacing McDonald and Starbucks
A local once said, "Economically, nothing has changed". He still goes to work and shopping like before the war. Well, maybe the prices of some items have gone up a little, but not so much that it's obvious.

I will not totally agree that the war did not affect Russians negatively. But I will believe that this invasion have both affected the economy of Russia positively and negatively. Russians are now buying locally made products which is a good thing to the Russian economy. Local industries now have less competition from foreign product which will make them make profit and increase employment opportunities. Russians have been forced to negotiate trade using the Russian Ruble which help to reduce their overreliance on the US dollars. The negative implication is that there are lesser foreign direct investment, limited product substitute, unemployment and reduced transfer of technology.

But I will also accept that the US and NATO underestimated the Russian economy. They thought their multiple sanctions will cripple the invader's economy, but they were surprise that their predictions failed. It is clear that Russia have prepared for this war and the resultant sanctions. The economy seems to be sanction proof.
1767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can owning 1 Bitcoin make you rich in 2023? on: April 12, 2023, 02:27:08 PM
I came to know about Bitcoin as everyone here did it was from my friend. I was living as usual a life controlled by the government and its banks. I was not angry about my life, still I had the anger to be someone who can succeed.

I had somewhat good childhood but I always saw my parents struggling to get those fiat. It did saddened me as I saw my parents living a routine life and still did not enjoy it.

Now I know why they were always struggling to get the ends meet. I do not.know whether anyone here can relate to the same experience of my parents

My parents also struggled to raise us because the income of my parents is far below what they needed to raise us. So we had to struggle to survive but it became worst when one of my parent died. The reason why most household suffer is basically because of low income. Others suffer because of waste or overspending. Some people tend to spend on what they don't really need. The number of children in the family also affect how well the family will fair financially.

When I understood the true potential of Bitcoin. I joined this forum as I am not someone who can spare the money required to invest for 1BTC.

So, my question is can Bitcoin give a life that I dreamt as a child. Is it possible to gain financial freedom? What exactly does financial freedom means in context of Bitcoin?

# Please ignore my typo and spelling mistake.

Thanks!
Financial freedom based on my perspective is the ability to afford all you need without taking loans or buying on credit. It is when you income or investment can afford you needs.  I don't know where you are based but 1Bitcoin is worth millions in my country's currency. If you can afford to buy one bitcoin, you are rich in my county. But buying one bitcoin is not a guarantee that you have attained the level of financial freedom. You might be able to attain that level if the price of bitcoin increases to a record high and you invest the profit you made on another business. But if the price remain the same or goes down your hope will be dashed.
1768  Economy / Economics / Re: Advises 'Get Rid of Your US Dollars Now (Economist Peter Schiff) on: April 12, 2023, 06:32:23 AM
Will there be any negative impact on the world economy if a hatch decision is being taken towards abandoning the USD for any alternative?
The dollar is to a large extent more stable than most currencies, which is why it was using it for international trade is convenient. International trade will be more complex if the dollar is ditched because some local currencies are highly volatile.

Chinese Yuan seems to be the currency that might want to compete with the dollar, but there has not been a consensus that it will be the alternative. Except for the BRICS nation adopts the Chinese currency or they decide to introduce a common currency, there is still no agreement of which currency to adopt.
The best decision would be let every nation accepts other nation's currency in international trade.

The advice has to be qualified further. If Peter is saying everybody should be getting rid of their US dollars now and shift to Bitcoin, then perhaps it makes some sense. But if he is simply saying get rid of the US dollars, that's a bit misleading. As a matter of fact, if I kept my savings in USD rather than my own local currency, I would have made a decent profit. So which asset or currency shall we be converting our US dollars to? Gold? It barely even moved for the past 10 years.
Most of these nations pushing for de-dollarization simply want to make their currency stronger. It would have been better for every nation to switch to another currency that is not centrally controlled. And bitcoin would have been a good alternative to the dollar because it is decentralized and no country will feel cheated. And making bitcoin the international payment currency might make it more stable and less volatile.
1769  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin miners in Nigeria on: April 11, 2023, 06:20:32 AM

You are correct mate, Onelga is one of the local government areas with constant power supply in Rivers state Nigeria as an oil producing community they don't have to pay for the constant electricity they receive. I have been their countless time and it's a plus for anyone planning of where to settle a mining farm.

Brotherly ONELGA go make sense die since them they get steady light because most of the electric plants there they use gas turbine. The place also make sense because na semi- urban area and the place also get basic amenities way fit make life sweet small. But my only issue with the place na insecurity. Bro. The place bin raze to the extent say people bigin dey sell their property cheap. If those men come get intel say you dey mine Bitcoin, them go just open office for your head. Before you know elders, youths even women go begin come for compensation because them go feel say you dey make billions for their community.

Quote
Another place still in Rivers state of Nigeria that enjoys uninterrupted constant power supply is Bonny LGA, also an oil and gas producing LGA, recently they celebrate decade of uninterrupted power supply in their communities , all unpaid for as part of what they benefit as host community to the oil exploration companies. These are sites that can be economical and profitable for potential miners in Nigeria.

Although I never get info about electricity for Bonny Island but the place fit bi the ideal place for this mining project. The place dey peaceful and them still get the same oil company settings like ONELGA. You fit even run electricity package with some companies their if you get connection for the firm.

Another thing wey fit discourage miners for Naija na the cost of importing mining equipment. I no sure say any company for Africa dey produce those facilities. Another Wahala fit bi how to maintain the facilities because people wey dey fix am fit no dey for our country.

But I no lie oh, this mining business go bi very coded way to make small money because many people no go know wetin you dey produce.
1770  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you still advised more buy and store? on: April 11, 2023, 05:44:31 AM
I was thinking new kind of plan to buy bitcoin every month from my salary immediately my company paids me but I still have other responsibilities to carry with family so am skeptical about it especially now that the price has no direction. If can afford storing every month in a long run I may realizes half of bitcoin unit and that's a big achievement to buy but to you is funny because you have enough of it. So advise me on what to do! Should I hold on because of the instabilities in price? Or I should buy and store? Over to you
I hope you know that the well-being of your household should be your main priority. If your income is less than or equal to the amount you need to make them comfortable, just focus on them. Opportunities to invest will always be available. Investment is good but you won't subject your family to suffering because you want to invest in Bitcoin.

You can also observe areas in your expenses that can be reduced or cut to make you have little savings. Seeking another means of income like taking a side hustle or starting a business that will not affect your full-time job might be helpful. As your increase your rank on the forum, you can earn Bitcoin through signature campaigns or winning competitions.
1771  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How honest and transparent are casinos? on: April 11, 2023, 04:57:39 AM
I have seen several casinos with promotions where they do "drops" to thousands of people or they give bonuses to several gamblers, but how transparent is this process?

Do you think casinos are really doing these drops to 1000s of people or are they skimming from the top.... ? They might say a drop is for 2500 people, but they might only drop for 500 people and nobody will know. Yes, some of those 500 people will report that they have received the drop and it will look legit.... but is it really?

How can the gamblers verify that the actual amount of people are receiving the drop or the bonus, if there are no list to verify it? Let's discuss this. I am curious if other people also thought about this...  Tongue

Business owners are humans and some humans are straightforward while others are not transparent. Some casinos keep their promise and they are also open to public scrutiny. While other are not and they keep their business dealing secretly so that customers will never have access to them. I am sure that some casinos fulfill all their promotion promises to their customers because they want to maintain or increase their reputation. While others don't care about what people think or say about them because their main focus is not to satisfy customers but to make outrageous profits.
1772  Economy / Economics / Re: Finance is a jigsaw puzzle. on: April 11, 2023, 04:17:39 AM
Your analogy is interesting and I can see the picture you are painting. But I want to relate it to investing and building a business. Starting a business is very difficult because one have to engage in so many activities like planning, seeking funds, choosing a location, employing staff, advertising, and seeking customers. But as you strive to settle these issues one after another, the business becomes easy to manage or run. That is why every investor must be patient and persistent at the beginning of the business without that the business will underperform or even collapse.

Thanks a lot, both for your comment and the reminder, haha. I actually noticed the paragraph problem after I sent the post but I was not allowed to delete the post. I will definitely work on this next time. Two or more paragraphs will be much better for a large content post. Thank you again  Smiley

I want to commend you for your simple writing style OP. But you can always edit your post by using the edit button. Regardless of how old the post is, it can be edited. Paragraphs make your work attractive and easy to read.
1773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The importance of operating completely anonymous on: April 11, 2023, 03:56:33 AM
If anyone can please add their expertise here on being completely anonymous for the sake of the masses. In a world that is centering on control and tracking activity as a means of control, what are the best measures one can take in any given region for the sake of remaining completely anonymous online with not only bitcoin transactions but online anonymity with delicate private information on not only location whereabouts but financial data, social data, phone number and email privacy, etc?

In life, you try to control what you can and do all you can to minimize the effect of what you cannot control. In my country, you cannot be anonymous unless you don't buy anything or do any financial transactions. Or you decide not to own a phone which is not possible for now. But there are a few things you can do to increase your chances of remaining unknown. One of the ways is to stay away from social media. Some persons are so addicted to these platforms that they can write their autobiographies through detail on their social media platforms. They are in the market, bank, or home on the street, it will be uploaded to their social media account.

Another way is that instead of keeping your money in banks or exchanges, become your bank through a centralized wallet. Exchanges and bankers will always want to know more things about you. They will keep asking for more information until they know virtually everything about you.
1774  Economy / Reputation / Re: SBF-Ross Ulbricht on: April 10, 2023, 02:55:21 PM
According to the latest news SBF bribed at least one Chinese government official with a $40 million payment by 2021.
We keep hearing more news about the financial scandals that Ftx and its owners engaged in. He was just selfish and don't consider that the money he was spending recklessly was people's hard-earned income. Don't be surprised if the FBI uncovers that this young man even gave a bribe to a past or present president of a nation for asylum or presidential pardon in advance.

How can a fraud that harms large numbers of people be forgiven by putting him under house arrest. What is this law, someone with the status of a high profile criminal is placed under house arrest while those who steal livestock just to make ends meet are left to rot in prison. SBF was able to get all of these facilities regardless of the money he had, there was a process of moving money under the table which made the parties involved give him leniency.
Welcome to the law of the jungle, who is strong he reigns.
He is not yet guilty until a court convicts him. Like every other suspect he was placed on bail and he was able to fulfill his bail conditions which is why he is at home. The court always denies bail to suspects that were trying to escape or had escaped before during trial. SBF has shown that is willing to face the law which was why he didn't challenge his extradition to the US. His special treatment is a result of rh wealth of his parents. Some people are still in custody because they don't have the money or connections to fulfill their bail conditions.
1775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Times When Casinos Will Ask Certificate That You Are A Responsible Gambler on: April 10, 2023, 02:00:02 PM
Will there come a time when online casinos will implement that you upload a responsible gambler certificate before you continue to play because of too many government restrictions it's not necessary for newly registered gamblers but for gamblers who lose a lot of money and their activity is they are suspected to be addicted to gambling.
The reason why the government will implement this, as a precaution, is to protect people from losing their wealth and their health from too much gambling because of addiction, it's a way of protection.
Any country that will enact this certificate policy will lose a lot of revenue and investment opportunities. Gambling firms will avoid the country because they will not have many customers.

This certificate will require KYC and many people are always scared by these policies.

Getting a certificate might also attract some costs that would be paid by gamblers. People might have to undergo some expensive tests to check if they are addicts or not.

It can also be time-consuming and cumbersome to acquire.

This policy can also give rise to an increase in illegal and unregistered gambling because people that want to invade these restrictions will patronize more risky gambling firms.

1777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Take good care of yourselves on: April 10, 2023, 12:47:38 PM
Take Good Care of yourselves.  Happy Easter

Eating a balanced diet, good sleep, and constant exercise are very important to everyone. There is no need of holding your Bitcoin when you or your family members are dying of hunger There will always be many opportunities to buy because Bitcoin is still in its early stage. Medical attention is also important. Sometimes because you don't want to spend much on medicals some persons engage in home remedy practice or self-medication which is not proper. We should not also engage in different jobs because we want to invest. These jobs will always overstretch us and make us miss rest, sleep, and exercise. Some people sleep less than four hours per day because they want to earn and invest more in Bitcoin.

People will always say that they want to live an inheritance for their children or they want to make their children financially stable. How are you sure your children will make proper use of these investments? We should take care of ourselves because we have just one life to live.
1778  Economy / Economics / Re: Essentials to starting A business on: April 10, 2023, 06:57:47 AM
they key very first thing is this

finding a niche
this is where you know something is needed by many people. then you come up with an idea/solution to fill that need.

there is no point having a business that just does the same thing thats already very popular because its already being served and needs already met(saturated market).

by finding a niche need, means there is already a lack of competition(untapped market). and already a demand. thus when you start supplying that demand you are already ahead of the game and getting better customer flows without competition. thus many headaches avoided and less work to fight against

take the bitcoin vs crap coins for example
bitcoin became popular because there was nothing like it before it existed. and now there are thousands of crap coins THAT FAIL because they dont fill a niche. they instead just try to replicate something thats already serving the masses. but no one wants the cheap replica/counterfeit/copy. even if its offered at a 1000x discount
Finding a niche is one of the basic qualities of a business that will perform well but it has some challenges. A niche is an improvement of an existing idea or offering something new or different. Customers will gladly accept such service or product but it attracts extra cost to the goods or services. A firm that sells electronics and offers free installation service will have to employ more staff. New products sometimes are not accepted by customers easily. Most times people are used to particular goods and they don't want to use or try another one. But when the firm starts succeeding it will outshine all competition.
1779  Other / Meta / Re: Request: New Local Board for Pakistan (Urdu) on: April 09, 2023, 07:51:08 PM
Can we get status of where our request is right now from administrator?
Its been said several times in this thread that you shouldn't count on getting any sort of response (or criteria needed) until they actually decide to give you local board as others (e.g Nigerians) didn't get a single response in 2 years, until theymos actually decided that its time.
That's why we are waiting. And pointing out again and again to get response from the administration. We are not criticizing but turning their face to us and asking that, they should make some criteria about new local board. And still we are not losing hope. And hope so the administration will take a look to our request soon.  Smiley
Just like Bitcoin, I think the administrators of this forum are not predictable. From all indications members from Pakistan really deserve their own board based on their activities are contributions to the forum. The Pakistanis are more active than most local boards and I know their board will not be idle like other local boards that lacks posts. My only encouragement is that you guys should keep reminding the administration and hoping that one day the local board will become a reality. You guys might wake up one morning and see that an Urdu booaed have been created. Local boards give members a sense of belonging in the forum. I really support your quest for your local board and I hope the administrators will consider it..
