What a game between GG and Quest, over 120 minutes, back and forth. Rapiers lying around the map and nobody even having slots to fit them in... Never watched something like this before. And it was my first game in Bali Major Smiley

Hopefully rest of them will deliver as well.

Due to popular demand and some recent developments which penalized early submitters we have decided to introduce VAR. Basically a way for you to edit your answers 3 times per season. Since this season is already well under way, we are giving you 2 challenges for season 2.

VAR rules:
-  Can be used to change answers in any round before that round's deadline
-  Can be used 3 times per season (2 times for season 2)
-  Send us your desired changes over PM or write in the thread and tag both Trofo & Cryptofrka, this is up to your discretion. If you trust us, better use PM to not clog the thread and give possible info to others. If you are playing against us maybe it is better to post in thread to avoid possible frictions
-  After you spend your challenges don't come and ask for more, whatever happens there are no more changes left for you

@cryptofrka I like the Hawkeye-inspired 3 chances per season. But since we have short rounds, and these are meant for emergencies, perhaps only needs 1 chance per season? Again, I hate overthinking and overcomplicating but it might be something useful down the line (I don't mind the current system, I think the risk of missing a deadline is big enough to not push too close even if I did take the risk this round). I really wish VAR in EPL was given this too. Manager can have 3 VAR reviews per game.

I like the idea as well and I think in order for Trofo and cryptofrka to have as less additional work to do as possible because of that solution, everyone should be bound to posting that change here publicly before the deadline. As long as the post arrives in this thread before the deadline and then gets quoted once by either Trofo or cryptofrka, it would count as accepted. The quote doesn't have to be before 19:00 forum time, but some time around that and I also think that there are enough active eyes here to ensure that no edits have been made anyway.

As for the number of jokers, I think I would vote for 2 despite the rounds being short. I wouldn't mind 3, but I think at least two because one can be spent whenever somebody wants and still has 1 in reserve for critical moments. It would be really bad if it happens twice and something is on the edge in the last two rounds and a loss is inbound due to such an issue.
No need for quotes, you can see when the post has been edited and if it is it will not be accepted. If we implement it we will just change answers manually in the table and it will be up to the person that submitted change request to double check that we did not miss it. Post will always be available to reference since it must not be edited.

3 seems like good number for season when it starts but we will probably limit it on less if decide to implement it this season.

But one thing comes to my mind: to save jokers, someone could just wait and check the thread here if information was missed or not searched for that will then be revealed by someone else who uses a joker. Is it an issue? Maybe via PM is better? I still think that someone doing the research should have an edge over someone leaning back and wait maybe?
There isn't a good solution. We can't stop you from writing things in the thread like De Minaur situation in this round. If I was participant I wouldn't mention it before the deadline for example. If you guys send PMs there is no accountability. How can anybody check that we received a pm on time? Or how can we prove that somebody did not send pm when he claims he has?

In the end it all comes to commitment and fair play. We made penalties and rules in such ways that top players with utmost commitment will rise to the top and those that take it casually will drop to lower leagues. That will give us a couple of great leagues and lowest division just for fun. This season we did not have a single round where everybody posted answers on time, while we did not have anybody from firsts division miss the deadline. Numbers don't lie and I expect the divide to grow as seasons progress.

Every addition makes things much more complicated and has some negative effects as well. We will double check everything before committing to changes. There will always be players that want to game the system.

I have two suggestions for next season. I'm wondering what your opinions are about these:

1) In case of there is a tie for free bet, the one who sent their prediction before is announced as the winner. (This can be applied for this season.)
2) In case of there are 7 or more similar answers in 10 questions, penalty questions are asked just as it is done in the cup. (Even if there is no tie these questions can be considered.)
Your first suggestion is interesting one, we will think about that. I like it since it offsets less info problem a little.

Your second suggestion will not get implemented. We like to have draws in league. Just like real leagues have draws. Nothing wrong with that.
1786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: June 28, 2023, 09:58:35 AM
I thought Cerundolo would have been counted as the winner directly as De Minaur didn't even make it to the tournament. But it looks like it will be counted as "the same" if Cerundolo doesn't beat Huesler today. I guess the question won't be removed from this round but I'm lucky that my opponent picked the same answer as me.  Grin
De Minaur was in the draw and seeded on Sunday. I don't know if he left on Monday or later. If you google De Minaur Eastbourne you will still get hits on google even though actual pages where links lead have him replaced with Jarry. That is moot point anyway, we don't have a habit of doing trick questions on purpose but there could be one thrown in here and there.

I spoke with cryptofrka and we agreed on following:
1. Question will not be voided, if we intended to do that we would have done it immediately when it became a "problem"
Quote from rules:
Quote
Forfeits in sports like Tennis or loses due to technical problems in eSports are counted as regular ML wins.
2. If Cerundalo wins today, he is correct answer. If Cerundalo looses today, Same is correct answer. This match today has almost even odds on Cerundalo and his opponent so this is by no means a done deal.
1787  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: June 28, 2023, 08:08:29 AM
Tennis question, I have an edge now because it seems my opponent leea answered very early Wink and I can't blame him, I still saw Alex de Minaur news as if he was joining the tournament when I looked.

It's an advantage for me but I kind of agree with Harkorede, on these kinds of questions... are we trying to encourage everyone to submit answers late? Because I'm sure if the early guys who submitted early could see the news easily, they wouldn't answer Alex. I only knew because I read this thread Wink In sportsbetting, the bet is lost if the guy actually played and retired, but if he didn't even play, bet is void, right?
We hate when stuff like this happens but we do have a rule in the OP that says tennis result count as regular even when forfeit happens. On bookies it would be voided if you had De Minaur outright but we have duel and if Cerundalo wins today it is clear he came further in the tournament.

Question is purposly worded in a way that forfeit doesn't affect it. We do have another problem if Cerundalo looses today. This is second round of tournamnet and De Minaur should have started it this round as well but withdrew from the tournament. Is that a same answer then or Cerundalo wins just by showing on pitch? We will think about it and give a definite ruling here in thread before the match starts.

Edit: his name was in the draw. I choose him and cerundalo as duel because they were 3rd and 4th seeds. He was free in first round as seed and then withdrew before first round finished.

Anyone know if Bublik is playing this week? I couldnt see any tournaments with a quick search.

Also I only realised just now while searching the above, Alcaraz is back in #1 position on the
ATP rankings again after his win at Queens, just 80 points separate himself and Djokovic!

Over at Eastbourne in the UK its R32 today and there arent too many big names playing, Fritz and Paul
seeded 1 and 2, there must be another tournament on somewhere?
There is another one in Mallorca but only Tsitsi there worth mentioning. Top players aren't playing in week before Wimbledon unless they need matches like Tsitsi.

Ahh yes that solves it. I exchanged the "de" in the link with "en" between the slashes and then it works out. Thanks!

For anyone who is not able to read the article:

Sportsbet.io redirects to your country and it might not be available then. I had to change "de" to "en" as marked above.
Thanks.

My original link doesn't have that en part. I guess it would be more safe to manually add it in the future to override local version of Sportsbet page some of you may be using.

Should be interesting at least to league leaders since they all got mentions Smiley

@Trofo I am not sure what the issue is but I had the same problem with the last link you posted here. I can't open them.

"Entschuldigung!

It says the site doesn't exist.
I believe it works only in English site. Somebody else had similar problem. Article is under News section of Sportsbet and you can try to look for it there but I think it is best that you open private window and just click on the link. Let me know if it worked.

Article is there and link is 100% good

Edit: Actually it is missing now, don't know what happened will check. Was working half an hour ago

Saudi Fantasy League when?  Cheesy

I intend to join every available pool next season, including leagues i don't normally watch/follow. I'm also making some major changes to my FPL way of doing things. I won't rest until i start producing Top10k finishes (wishful thinking). Lol

In addition to the regular pools and fantasy leagues, we have AFCON, Copa America, EURO, EURO Fantasy, and Nations League in 2024...a busy year and a half ahead of us.  #no-life  Grin

Actually I missed CL Fantasy last year and would probably love to play it this year. Same goes for EURO Fantasy. They are not the same, much more casual but fun nevertheless. Not sure if it is possible to get sponsors for everything but if nobody does I will make leagues in all of them and we can play just for buy ins. 2 mBTC buy in winner takes all is also hell of a fun for competitions like EURO.

marathon could also be interesting to add up, some of top5 (Big5) marathons, but that is probably a long shot as well

nevertheless, Cro2 team is doing great job and covering good topics/sports, and although I don't like DOTA or eSports, I don't have anything against those being within questions
We will probably not have regular marathons but I think there will be some questions that cover athletics in general on Olympic games or maybe some big meetings.

@buwaytress That ironman final sounds intriguing, let us know when that gets close and we will try to make a question about it. Not gonna do it for qualifying events though. Same as we are not posting qualifying events for DOTA or even Wimbledon qualifiers.

Like NBA or tennis (this or that lol) except to include number of sets or games, MMA has many more combinations. I knew zero about it too until I played prediction contests from Sportsbet Smiley Actually I still know 1% about it but at least UD and SD like you said are familiar to me now.

That's why I appreciate BSFL a lot. Now I know DOTA. Now I know even a bit about NBA. Handball? F1? Amazing Smiley
That is the idea behind this project, to introduce as many "fringe" sports as possible to make proper sports fanatics from all participants while keep majority of questions in safe sports like football to level the field a bit.

Snooker question is incoming for sure. I used to watch that sport a lot and I know more than enough to make a good question even if I don't follow current players that closely. Cricket is a big problem for us, it is very popular but it is also very hard sport to properly understand and we know nothing about it. Then there is also the fact that game lasts trough several days and usually collides with our deadlines.

I shared great sites for eSports and tennis, why don't some of you give something like that for other fringe sports? There is also a problem of explaining things properly, for DOTA I know enough to answer every possible question some newb has. I can't do that about cricket.

Why is nobody familiar with MMA yelling here, you have big tournament coming then and there? Do they even exist? I know that we have Wimbledon in tennis coming up and Riyadh Masters in DOTA coming up and both will be included. I also know there will be European Masters in Germany to cover snooker somewhere in August. I also plan to learn something about cricket in near future to better cover that sport.

Nobody that plays first Fantasy season will ever win it but we won't tell them that  Cool

Well this is a fact confirmed and Im having alot of problem playing this first time. I thought I had good composition for the week already then somehow I forgot about the other factors in game such as managers potentially resting players for UCL and such but well its a good first time playing fantasy and I kinda enjoy it to some extend

The thing that I hate the most would be when I picked Haaland as my captain then he ended up not scoring anything  Roll Eyes
When Trofo is talking about Winning it, I suppose the runner ups doesn’t count because, that too could be winning a share in the pool price and some of us came quite close. I guess the in experience and negligence got the better of me. You know, having all these chips and not knowing when to use them or how to use them but again, you guys were great and taught hard lessons in a very disturbing way as this was a competition none the less.

Come next season, I hope to be a lot more competition, see most of the old participants as much as new participants. Let’s see how far we’ve come.
Maybe you misunderstand my post. What I meant to say is that there is almost no chance for a person playing his first fantasy season to do well in it. It wasn't a comment about my rank, I ended as runner up but this was my 7th season I think. Fantasy is a game where you simply have to learn some stuff on your own skin before becoming good at it. Any given week is mostly pure luck, but that evens up over the season and good decisions will always come on top. When I say top, I mean top 500K finish every season almost guaranteed. Then it is a matter of good or bad season if you get higher up to top 100k or even something like 20k.
Here is my full FPL history with this account, my first learning season was done on another one where I lost logins and stopped playing at some point.

2022/23    274,909    2,471
2021/22    118,554    2,492
2020/21    738,837    2,227
2019/20    454,377    2,167
2018/19    24,427    2,346
2017/18    31,224    2,270
2016/17    254,249    2,095

I know I will play Fantasy Pool even if we don't have sponsors. My favorite pool by far this season Smiley
1798  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: June 27, 2023, 06:13:33 AM
@notblox1 I really don't even don't think Trofo is the one in charge of setting this question and as far Esports is concern it's almost synonymous to tennis, no average middle aged guy loves Tennis outrightly, but we are forced to learn more about them and all I can say after a couple of months of consistent viewership is that I'll definitely take some Alcaraz vs a below 30 ranked player now rather than watch Brighton vs Chelsea football come the regular football season, but still I barely put my money on Tennis because the odds and chance doesn't correlate in my opinion.

MMA is often a this or that question except they'll have to include the likes of knockout or winning strategy like UD and SD, but you should know that most of us including me isn't familiar with MMA, and would rather just follow the sportbook odds like I would do for Formula 1 as well.

I have be clamoring for CS:GO questions not because it's the perfect spectrum for me, but at least I understand their players aim when streaming and how it work generally so it's literally fun watching for me, meanwhile I just stream Dota 2 for hours, I see kills scores but I really still don't understand major concepts like pros and cons of it, I just follow the commentary to know which team is having a better chance/game.

It only shows that nobody is having it fair and square here, the aim oof the sponsor is to bring wide audience to other sports, and in my opinion it is working, the only solution about MMA or UFC questions is that the Cro2 team can reach out to jeremypwr he knows the order of importance and expected spectators of these matches, perhaps it could be of help going forward.
To be fair I am in charge of eSports questions since I follow that much more than cryptofrka. When we started we decided we will occasionally include DOTA, CS:GO and LOL questions in the BSFL as the eSports on which a lot of money is being thrown while betting. I tried to make CS:GO question twice and failed to do it in a way that it is full proof. Meaning I couldn't guarantee question will be valid by the time deadline passes. eSports are expending quickly and they are here to stay, they will always be part of this competition no matter what somebody say but they will never have more than one question per round and will probably only be included in couple of rounds.

I have never in my life watched a basketball match or F1 race, I have no interest in American sports altogether and something from those questions is included in every round. Those sports will continue to be included and cryptofrka will probably be the one writing those questions all the time.

We would love to include more MMA but here is the problem of identifying big tournaments, let us know and we will do it. We had it at least once already. We also wanted to include cricket a couple of times but we couldn't ask a question in a way it that we would get and answer 100% before round ends.

Once again, you all know how the question look, if you are following some fringe sport and it has big tournament coming up - write the question for us. We will include it if it is good which means:
*it gets resolved from Tuesday to Sunday
*Has covered all possible outcomes in answers

Why don't some of you take that opportunity and give yourself an advantage? But it doesn't work that way since when I am making the questions and answering them I am in totally different states of mind. Try it and see for yourself.
1799  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: June 26, 2023, 09:14:00 PM
I noticed that the 8th question might have to be revised (or voided) because I can't see De Minaur on the ATP 250 Eastbourne draw, and Nicolas Jarry probably filled his spot as he's also advancing straight to the next round aside from the top three seeds.
Well question is still sort of fine. I guess you know what answer you will not choose now Smiley

Did not see the news but if it is true that just means he did not reach second round and question is still valid. Of course in the end it will be almost like void cause everyone will chose same answer but this is also ok since it will punish those few that did not read the news or this post of yours. It wasn't intended as trick question but we are fine to have even trick questions here and there.
