17821  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to make money on bitcointalk? on: April 14, 2015, 07:55:03 AM
I don't have rank im newbie...

yeah newbie is a rank too, the first one it allow you to join sig campaign with low requirement

you can start from there to make money(better say to make bitcoin)
17822  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Greetings from South-Africa on: April 14, 2015, 07:52:28 AM
welcome, and if you are a important guy there, please spread your interest about bitcoin with other, adoption is what bitcoin really need to grow

btw something i want to ask, there are mining facility there in africa? or the electricity cost is too prohibitive?
17823  Economy / Speculation / Re: And here we go in the red zone again. BTC under $220 .WTF s going on? on: April 14, 2015, 07:48:42 AM

and btw sub 200 isn't something new, we were at 150-180 for before

But that was back when difficulty level was lower. Maybe time to switch to POS.

as far as i know it happened 1 month ago, not that old, and difficult wasn't that different from now, it has been stuck(range -10% +10%) there like the price

They can either sell at a loss or hold until everyone else stops selling at a loss.

they aren't selling at loss, many miners(especially big farms) have probably roi'ed(i would say many months ago...), they are free to dump any bag
17824  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hmmm. Something interesting happened last night on: April 14, 2015, 07:44:34 AM
a whales that entered in panic selling mode? they aren't certainly immune from it

another guess could be miner with free electricity and roi achieved(they have nothing too lose and those are the worse, becuase they can keep dumping until 1) that was accumulating those coins for many months

this dump show how it easy to tank bitcoin price, bitcoin is too easy to manipulate....
17825  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 getting low hash rates on: April 14, 2015, 07:40:02 AM
i actually tried to reflash, first thing i did , i downloaded the firmware from the website and tried to reflash it, it came back with an error . short read.

but im curious why the psu that im using is not enough for the s5 . im using a thermaltake 730W with 87% efficiency . http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001966

the s5 that im using was shipped to me on early april 2015. so im guessing it should have the latest firmware , right ?

if the psu is a low quality one it could be that, because the s5(it is overclocked?) run at 590 at default, no so far from 730(with bad efficiency 87), if it were a good psu with a better efficiency, like corsair or seasonic it would have been enough

otherwise i can only think of a defective device...
17826  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is not a bubble on: April 14, 2015, 07:36:48 AM
people around the world are not adopting bitcoin because of those thing in general

1- security
2- regulation

those two thing must be addressed in order to rise the adoption of bitcoin

the secuirty can be done by the exchage(so it's not even a bitcoin fault)

the regulation is on the way on some countries, but need to be speeded up and should be easy for average people, not something like "i need to take note of every transactions" or other things too laborious
17827  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: More Antminer S3's or S5's? on: April 14, 2015, 07:31:33 AM
everything under s5 now is pointless, you should look at efficiency(and with the summer coming it makes even more sense), s5 is more efficient than s3 or s1, no sense to buy those old miners, unless you have free electricity

or you can wait for s6-s7, they should come this summer unless bitcoin price tank too much
17828  Economy / Economics / Re: How to save money. on: April 14, 2015, 07:28:22 AM
Of course people can cut a lot by not eating out, by not buying small gifts for themselves on impulse, you don't need to drink coffree and alcohol at all, smoking is bad... You will be fine living with only mineral water and eating rice with vegetables everyday. But that is not the way, people are saving money just because they want live a better and more luxurious life, and not to be constantly pinching themselves about everything they buy, you can become a hermit and a saint by living by your rules...

I don't save because I want a luxurious life. I save because I want to make sure that I will be able to manage my life when I am old and not be dependent on anybody.
People save because they want to make sure that they are not caught wanting in case there is a medical / other emergency.
People save so that they can leave their loved ones a little legacy when they die.
There are a multitude of reasons for saving.  Smiley
The main reason why the most people save is to secure their future when their got old and they can work, so that they have a money even if they have no work. Saving is not a joke if you start it finish it so you can have a luxurious life with your love ones. It is useful when theres a emergencies and you can use it for your sake but, remember think if your sake is good for you and good for other sake.
Don't be the person that saves every single penny, it's not worth it. You have to keep a balance between spending and saving. I knew many people who wouldn't eat some days just to save $10 for cigs and alcohol or other useless stuff. Money is meant to be spent and enjoyed so once in a while go and buy something for you. You can get old and save as much money as you can but what's the point ? You will probably be old and to tired to do anything with it.

some of those people ene dthe month with a zero sum, this is why they try to save every penny, so i say you can't always do a balance between saving and spending, sometime you need to save everything you have because you are forced to spend too much, it depend by person to person
17829  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Got my ROI some days ago... on: April 14, 2015, 07:25:52 AM
any chance you`d share some screen caps op?

or the return on your ROI that you mentioned, because thats a gamble. I never heard of the site as well, but hey if you got your ROI back then more power to you. I have a sense its a ponzi though but on a higher level.

there is a screen in the previous page but i'm still skeptical, because the amount he invested is too low, and with low amount the things are different, i mean it does not make sense to scam with such amount, they are waiting for big fish to do it seriously

otherwise if they are legit, they are very profitable, perhaps i'll try a low amount too to see if it work
17830  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin Mining 1btc a month? on: April 14, 2015, 07:23:02 AM
You rather wait for the next wave in the price movement, and you can maybe buy a solid bitocoin if it dips into the double digits.

Which most are ranting about, but producing 1 btc a month is absurd for the standard person unless they have like a penta hash going on.

what? for 1 btc a month in cloud you just need to purchase 3 tera, 5 btc investment, and your earning is 0.03 a day = 0.90 a month, you are there

with physical HW it is worse due to electricity but if you have a very cheap one you just need 1 tera more, to end in the same result
17831  Economy / Economics / Re: destroying bitcoins on: April 14, 2015, 07:20:58 AM
better to destroy fiat and decrease inflation, thus making fiat stronger and as a  consequence bitcoin also

bitcoin are too precious too be destroyed
17832  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I have $5,000 to buy equipment and almost free electricity. Where do I start? on: April 14, 2015, 07:17:14 AM
Chances are you will get shut down by your landlord/university... and then you will be stuck with a bunch of hardware you have to move.

Regardless of free AC; there are most certainly very vague clauses in your agreements with your landlord/university regarding reasonable use of ameneties; ethics; etc - they will come down on you if you are pulling 10 kW of power (which you could with $5,000 in gear).

Secondly; you are going to have to exhaust the heat - and $5000 worth of ASICs is going to put of some real heat.

Third, Law Enforcement Agencies; the DEA, actively monitor areas around colleges using helicopters with IR cameras. This is done passively by all police copters now. The cameras are always running - and the images they capture are IR - which show heat exhaust from buildings. The images are simply run through a software system (all on auto) - and anything out of the ordinary and you will get a knock on your door.

They are searching for "growers". Bitcoin miners have, on more than one occasion had DEA show up for a bust.

Just some things to think about.

Strato

this is the reason why cloud are better, no electricity to worry about, and no anything else you mentioned, basically the risk are the same with physical HW but the cost are much less

and another thing good to do now is to buy bitcoin and forget about mining completely
17833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exchanges Too Invasive. Options? on: April 14, 2015, 07:11:12 AM
funny thing is that while bitcoin is pseudo anon and it is aiming at completely anon, exchange do require your id, they need after all to back up their asses if too much money flow in-out

anyway just use the one that do not require id, like kraken(and bitfinex too?)
17834  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 67 Weeks Until... on: April 14, 2015, 07:08:56 AM
what i think, if the efficiency will fall to a certain point in the future where small medium farm will be forced to close their work, this with the block halving will lead to only a few big farm still operational(probably china big farm only), and it can result in some 51%'ed, but unless they want to ruin their business, i presume they will stay under 51%

then you have the usually, bitcoin will drop, bitcoin will rise, the chances are aginst the drop of course, because of the halving, but many miner will drop anyway their equipment, because of the halving if the price remain the same or it does not get up to x2
17835  Economy / Speculation / Re: And here we go in the red zone again. BTC under $220 .WTF s going on? on: April 14, 2015, 06:19:36 AM
who are those cloud mining service, can you post a list or something, i know the big one are still in play

and btw sub 200 isn't something new, we were at 150-180 for before
17836  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin tax software? on: April 14, 2015, 06:12:53 AM
i'm interested in this if it ever exist, can you point us to this software? i would like to see how it work
17837  Economy / Speculation / Re: Support is holding! on: April 13, 2015, 09:12:01 PM
Support is NOT holding at 235, now it's down to 220!!!

it's the usual umpteenth "trap dump" waiting for panic sellers to sell their bag, and then they cry and buy at higher price

support is still there, until the 200 wall is not broken

so now the support lower to $200? what next? $100 $10 $1?

the support was always on 200 at least the strong one

fresh new account, i wonder who are you, i think i have a good guess about this
17838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Better than bitcoin" altcoin sellers arrested for stealing $340 million on: April 13, 2015, 07:57:49 PM
Makes me wonder how many other scams/ponzis are still running out there and how much money they have. Your thoughts?

it worth nothing that in 2013 after the doge peak the altcoin section was full of malicious devs, who were running their scam-fest, consisting of many alts, like aurora/blackcoin /maxcoin/stockcoin(the first one) ecc....,

i was there for every one, and i can tells you that with the first three they have surpassed by a long shot the 340M of this news..

actually i think that with aurora only, they have scammed a monstrous amount(i remember that coin surpassed litecoin in value, when litecoin was worth about 300M+)

nowadays there are still scam pos coins with bad/fake distribution and other crap like that
17839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your opinions on Online Gambling and Bitcoin on: April 13, 2015, 07:43:30 PM
i think that online gambling should be regulated in some way, now with bitcoin, people feel even more secure to gambling(it sound like an oxymoron) but really it is the true, maybe put a limit on the bet or something?

because many of them can't stop playing until they lose all(and i know how they feel, fortunately i have good selfcontrol), and with bitcoin i find that it is even worse then regular fiat, because they can play with more anonimity
17840  Economy / Securities / Re: Anything sustainable worth of investing? on: April 13, 2015, 07:35:05 PM
More people, give me more. What about PoS coins. Any success with that?

nothing at the moment, or nothing that is worth mentioning, but a good investement seems dashcoin based on the chart
