181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO forbidden in China? Will same thing eventually happen in all countries? on: September 06, 2017, 06:02:08 PM
China has a lot of other problems right now. Their economy is being kept afloat by govt injecting cash into the economy and trying to stop the real estate bubble from popping all at once.

There are also major issues with corruption, land theft etc. and the general feeling is that ordinary citizens are fed up of being controlled and repressed.

Cryptos are one of the few ways the average Chinese person can currently make good returns on their money.

However, the last thing the govt needs is millions of people getting scammed by ICOs and turning on the govt for not doing more to prevent it.

Although it's highly likely that other countries will also take action against fraudulent ICOs this still won't kill the ICO market as the platforms and companies could move to friendlier jurisdictions and conduct operations from there.

182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2017 = the season of ICO's . Good or Bad for Cryptocurrency Ecosytem? on: September 03, 2017, 03:44:42 PM
Cryptos don't need the negative attention brought on by most of these scam ICO's.

Some people have made a lot of money but the long-term consequence is that ICO's are now getting a lot of attention from governments and regulators so it may become more difficult for investors from certain countries (China, Russia, USA) to continue investing in new coins.

183  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are bitcoins only for the educated and knowledgeable people only? on: September 03, 2017, 03:32:19 PM
When cars, airplanes, mobile phones etc first came out they were also not accessible to the masses for some time.

Early adopters used and profited from those industries and eventually those industries evolved to become accessible to the average person without that person needing any special knowledge.

And with the increase in user-friendly wallets it will be the same for bitcoin.

We should also encourage other people to research into bitcoin and guide them in the right direction so we can shorten their learning curve. If we act elitist because we found out about btc before other people then we won't achieve full adoption.
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin that Pays people to lose Weight. on: August 19, 2017, 12:40:00 AM
I think at this point in crypto and especially altcoins, people are looking for any niche possible where they can add a crypto angle and raise funds for an ICO. And there are plenty of people who feel like they'll miss out again if they don't invest in these shitty coins so there's enough money out there looking for something, anything to invest in.

We need a big 'reset' so that weak hands and scam projects are flushed out of the crypto world.

This announcement is good news for those who have invested with a long-term view. I don't think this is something which can be implemented in the next few weeks but if it is done properly then it will give FootballCoin a good foundation to build on.

I'm still disappointed that more wasn't done to take advantage of the return of the football season to get new players signed up but that was always going to be difficult with the ICO ending in late June.

Maybe it will take longer to reach that critical mass of users to really make this project popular with fantasy football players but I would prefer things to be done slowly and properly rather than quick and dirty.

Announcements like this definitely help though because at least we know that something is happening!
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ⚽ XFCCOIN ▐ Fantasy Football Manager Revolution!▐ In-Game Maket is open ⚽ on: August 15, 2017, 02:58:54 AM
Although things are very slowly moving in the right direction with FootballCoin, it's disappointing to witness this apparent lack of urgency on the part of the developers.

I use the word 'apparent' because it's clear that SOME work is being done behind the scenes since the end of the ICO but clearly not enough to match the expectations set during the ICO.

The USD value of the BTC collected by the end of the ICO has nearly doubled so there shouldn't be any excuses for a slowdown in the roadmap.

And my point isn't specific to the issue of listing on an exchange. I'm more concerned about things like marketing, explaining the game to the masses, making it easy for new players to sign up and buy XFC.

Many leagues have already started and FootballCoin has missed an opportunity to go all out and bombard fantasy football players with adverts about joining this awesome new game.

For a fraction of the money raised during the ICO you could have set up some kind of joining contest and offered prizes like PS4's, X-Boxes, laptops, iPhones, Amazon vouchers, even tickets/flights/hotels to a game of your choice. Imagine the buzz that could have been created to get your team ready for the start of the Premier League. You could have collected emails, created retargeting audiences, made media contacts etc.

And yes it would also have been good to see the coin on a big exchange as it would do better than 90% of the rubbish currently being traded.

We live in a strange time where crypto coins powered by nothing but hot air can raise tens of millions of dollars in the space of a few hours, making fortunes for creators and investors alike.

You have the rarity of a working product and should be shouting from the rooftops to tell people about it.

I look forward to seeing some real progress soon.
187  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin value prediction end of July on: July 15, 2017, 08:37:36 PM
IMHO the price could dip as low as $1600 due to weak hands but most of us probably won't be able to buy at the low as I'm sure there will be many buy orders getting triggered on the way down.

In any case it will be a good thing to shake out some of the weaker hands for the long-term.
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Possible reasons of (continued) growth of liquid crypto-currencies on: July 15, 2017, 08:32:31 PM
There's a lot of 'hot' money all over the world, much of it coming from central banks who can create it from thin air, which is looking for somewhere to go.

Now let's say you're an investor who is looking for a return for your money. Here are your options:

1. You can leave it in the bank but real inflation will outpace the interest you are paid so your money will lose its purchasing power over time.

2. You can buy property but most mature markets are at all-time highs and not looking likely to sustain their growth rates (Most of the UK, Canada, many cities in the USA, Australia, European cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris etc). You can take risks and enter immature markets in Africa etc but this won't be suitable for most investors.

3. You can invest in precious metals but they have gone nowhere for the last 6 years.

4. You can invest in stock markets but they are at all-time highs based only on Govt. intervention rather than fundamentals, and further interest rate rises could lead to huge losses.

Bitcoin and other Cryptos are starting to creep into mainstream news and we'll soon approach a point where millionaires and billionaires around the world will sit up and take notice.

If you even $1m USD available to you right now then how much would you put into bitcoin?

And then imagine how many people around the world have significantly more than that to invest. And then imagine if some forward-thinking Govt. decided to spend a few billion on diversifying into cryptos?

We are only talking about a handful of coins here as I doubt the hot money will start chasing after shitty ICOs but the effect could be massive if rich people and investors started panic buying.

I have two game accounts and one wallet account.

Both game accounts contain XFC but I want to keep all my XFC in one place.

How can I transfer the XFC from one of those game accounts to the other game account?
Uuh, Why do you have to XFC account? I think you should send the XFC to your xfc wallet where you want to put it all. send the xfc from your second account to the xfc wallet you linked with first account?

I have my own account and then another account I purchased from someone else.

Personally I think it's a fairly low risk investment right now.

Considering where the price is today, there's not much downside risk and plenty of upside potential if the team can start making progress on their roadmap.

I get the impression that there are a lot of people watching this coin so now might be a good time to invest.
192  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [Warning] If you are using Trezor, double check your fees before sending on: July 10, 2017, 05:37:54 PM
383 $ ! are you kidding me ! this is a scam from trezor.
BTC suppose to makes the things easy and reduce the fees, otherwise, it's gonna be a coin for criminal people only.

I think you're getting too far ahead of yourself (especially with silly talk of criminals and bitcoin)

It can't be a scam because the fees go to miners, not Trezor.

Take a deep breath and remember that glitches happen and, as the OP has pointed out, Trezor are working on a solution.

when i can use my XFC to buy players?? i have more than 40k XFC from Free and Guarant contests,
i wanna use it to buy some players.

You can already buy players. If you have your 40k XFC in your game account (www.footballcoin.io) then you need to send them to your XFC wallet (wallet.footballcoin.io) before you can make purchases.

You might need to contact support to do that for you but once it's done then just log into your wallet, click the 'players' tab on the left side of your screen and choose which player you want to buy.

At the moment you can only buy 5* players but hopefully soon you will be able to buy 3* and 4* players as well.

Dear dev: I got some XFC from some previous contests and also bounty campaign.
Can I use those XFC to buy cards now?  It seems I can send them to my wallet.football.io.

If I can't use them to buy now, can I use them in the future?

You will be able to use them, of course.
We will have the in-game market very soon and there you will be able to purchase cards (player and stadium) without any taxes.
As we postponed the sale of 3* and 4* cards you will be able to purchase those in the in-game market at the discounted prices, as well as the remaining 5* cards.

The withdrawal function will also be available.

When you talk about taxes for buying players do you mean bitcoin fees?

The simple fact is that scarcity/urgency sells, as proven by the many popular ICO's based on ideas far less likely to succeed than FootballCoin.

Hopefully lessons can be learned from the devs experience of this ICO so far and the approach can be adapted to help this project reach the fantastic potential it has. I hope they have the resources to do everything before the start of the new season so investors can see some success this season rather than waiting for the next season.

As we already stated before the ICO, we have the financial resources for the August launch and to keep going till the end of the 2017-2018 season.

At this moment we are working on a more friendly setup of the platform for the users outside the cryptocommunity: in-game market without any transfer tax and, besides sell and buy, we will have the lease option.
Lease will mean that anybody that have a Player Card that is not used by himself for a contest can place that card on the market for lease. Managers that want to use that card will pay the fee (in-game so no extra taxes will apply) and have the card available for the contest.

When I mentioned resources I was mostly referring to people. Funding is important too but you will still need a large and skilled team who can cope with the pressure of getting everything ready for the start of the season.

It sounds like you're busy working on some changes so good luck and I'm sure we're all looking forward to seeing the final product in August.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ⚽ XFCCOIN ▐ Fantasy Football Manager Revolution!▐ ICO STARTS 24th MAY ⚽ on: June 08, 2017, 06:28:41 PM
How much money did you invest in your own pocket for licenses etc.? ICO isn't successful till now, only 85 BTC was raised. Do you have a Plan B? What will you do if you can't reach your goals?

As explained several times before.
ICO for our project is not just about how much money we get.
The project is pretty much developed and the further development is already covered.

ICO is also very much about adoption of the XFCCOIN and increase of number of players and persons supporting the game (and here we are kind of disappointed) and about more funds to allow us to better promote the game on the football fans market, outside the cryptocommunity.

So what you see as plan B is actually our plan A - to go to the football fans market and grab a share there. We are already in the process to adjusting the game features to better fit that market.

The crowd-sale has been a bit disappointing in terms of interest, especially given how hot the market is, however

1. The crypto market is moving fast, so with no early bonuses, people won't rush to buy XFC until it's nearly sold out/the end of ICO.

Possible Idea: A retro-active bonus in the form of a free random card worth around 10% of your donation still available for the next 7 days.
This creates a time bonus and also puts at least one product in the hands of most of your investors which will help bootstrap the card market.
(Given the cheapest card is 1k XFC, XFC purchases of less than 10k XFC can be pooled together and put in a lucky draw.)

2. It's stated that any remaining ICO XFC will be sold for a minimum of 1350 satoshis, this limits the upside for speculators, therefore if it seems like a lot of ICO XFC will be leftover near the end of the ICO, investors may still be reluctant to buy.

Possible idea: Show that any remaining ICO XFC will be sold in a staggered approach so that investors know there will not effectively be a huge sell wall at 1350 satoshis post ICO or commit to not selling below a higher price so that there's greater urgency to buy before the end of the ICO and more upside if you do.

Also as you say it may have been better to also promote XFC on a popular football forum over the last few months as opposed to just a crypto investors forum, the higher interest and player numbers would have got more crypto investors excited as opposed to the niche cross-over of crypto investors who are also interested in football manager games. I'm sure once you go to the football fans market near August, crypto investors will suddenly 'get it' when they start seeing the interest among football fans & XFC will explode in value.

Great comment and analysis.

198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Small fortune, now which country ? on: June 06, 2017, 02:22:11 PM
Philippines.

Get a beach house, or live in the city, or get a few acres of land ... Put a wall around it. Hire security or bodyguards.
When you have kids, hire a nanny for each. Send them to private schools.
Cash out in 2 or 3 major exchanges, or make it a daily routine to sell to locals.

But, don't do drugs.

A relatively large 3 to 5 bedroom, 2 or 3 car garage home, with a swimming pool, in a gated community will set you back about 10 to 20 million pesos, or 200k USD to 400k USD.

*edit* at 53, expect to live to maybe 83 ? so that's 30 years. You better have at least 1000 BTC (at today's prices) if you want to be comfortable without too much additional work. Get a token job for income tax purposes, but usually the government will leave you alone if you blend in.

That's 3 BTC per month for 30 years, more or less. Don't exceed that budget. You wouldn't unless you do something stupid. Just be smart about it. As a foreigner, you might spend more on local food (coconuts?) but just tip the waiters an extra 10~15% and you will get excellent service most of the time.

All gas stations are full-service, by the way. You can't gas the car yourself, they won't let you. Hire a chauffeur / driver for $300 USD per month. Double that amount if he acts as armed bodyguard.

Guys, i made a small fortune in altcoin/bitcoin. In which country should i settle ?
I have no wife, no kids, just a girlfriend, i´m free to go wherever i want (she´ll go with me).
But it has to be a bitcoin-friendly country.
I have no intention to buy lambos, just a peaceful life.
Thanks.

With respect, I don't think the Philippines is the most stable place right now with such an unpredictable leader.

I would suggest somewhere in Europe. Portugal, Italy or Spain. If you want to go off the beaten track then somewhere away from the big cities in Morocco would also be a good option. Beautiful weather, warm and friendly people and politically stable. Also some of the best hashish in the world  Grin

If you have the funds then you could always buy a place in southern Spain and another place in Morocco, then buy a boat so you can sail between the two places at your own leisure.
199  Economy / Speculation / Re: What could cause price of bitcoin to crash?? on: June 06, 2017, 02:04:32 PM
I don't worry about N.Korea or other WW3 scenarios because if things really get that bad then our BTC holdings will be the least of our worries.

I would be more worried about Govts. (especially bankrupt Western govts.) running scare-stories about BTC. Linking BTC to drugs etc. hasn't done too much damage so far but I think linking it to terrorism could have more of an impact.

Most people are very poorly-informed and wouldn't have the capacity to realise that ISIS are already using all types of fiat without people boycotting those currencies.

But the petro-dollar scam will fall apart one day in the near future and at that point I would hope that will push more people into BTC to save what little purchasing power they still have.

Is there already or have you considered some sort of ‘on loan’ option/side market?

Example:

I as a speculator might buy Ronaldo now with the discount for 27k XFC or around $750 at current prices with the intention of hopefully selling him for a profit in the near future or possibly only in a future season.

Risk - There may not be a lot of players in the first XFC season willing to shell out thousands of dollars on player cards.

However there may be plenty of players willing to pay >$10 to have Ronaldo in their team on a specific week.

So at the end of the season I might have earned $300-400 loaning out Ronaldo (a 50% return) and be able to sell him for the same or more than I paid.

Meanwhile the average Joe, who might only want to spend $100 over a season will have had the thrill and ability of being able to have some of the best players in his team for games when he wanted them or needed them the most.

The loan market could end up having a considerable weekly turnover that you could earn commission on too.

This could be a great idea if executed properly.

Maybe the same thing could work for stadiums. If I was going to buy a 500,000 XFC stadium then I would like an option for renting that stadium to other users so it could still create an income for me if there were times when I am not able to come online, or for people to use outside of my timezone.

If stadium owners can run contests on autopilot then my point isn't really valid.
