182  Other / Beginners & Help / Litecoin Mining NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti [Errors] on: August 24, 2013, 03:10:45 AM
Hi All,

I'm trying to LTC mine with my GF 550 Ti graphics card using GUIMiner-scrypt Alpha. It's giving me the following errors. Is it really because I have two monitors running on the GPU I'm trying to use to mine? Is it really that simple?

This error, using GIUMiner-Scrypt Alpha. Do I need to disconnect one of my two monitors or something, is that all it really is? Two monitors, two cores, disable one monitor, give mining the other core? I'm confused Smiley

Hi,
Trying to mine Litecoin using my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti and getting the following error when trying to mine using GUIScript. Settings are:

Host: ltc-stratum.kattare.com
Port: 3333
Username: x.x
Password x
I just chose GPU defaults for 5750, probably should change that.
Use Stratum: Yes

Any help appreciated, I've updated graphics drivers too.

Yes, you can buy BTC now. I think it will hit $200 again within short time.

I think it will jump to around $150 maybe, but not quite $200. Thoughts?

I want my machine already Sad Wonder why the larger units are shipping before the smaller?

I could do some research I guess...
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 16, 2013, 04:45:48 AM
Seeing as there hasn't been any troll comments on this thread for almost an hour, I'll ask a question.

Anyone buying one of these thought about security? Like, what to do if their miner is stolen by some bum who breaks in and thinks it's a fancy desktop PC?

Any thoughts? Getting some kind of serial number engraved on the case? Marking the PCB somehow? Some kind of tracking that is it powers up, gps coordinates get send somewhere? I imagine high end industiral machinery must have something like this to protect the investment, but I don't really know.

Someone nicks mine in February, I do a little dance and call the insurance company. Then I'd have the cash to buy either a discounted replacement or something better if it exists.
I already asked my company (Morethan) and they just said to do like I already do with other "attractive items" worth ove a grand and declare it to them. IF I didn't, it wouldn't be covered. Probably different to other companies so worth a phone call.

A simple laptop security cable and lock (maybe modified) will do to stop most thieves, they want to get in and out ASAP and won't want to mess about.
I use one on my bike and it's worked twice now that I know of.

You could also whack a Butterfly Labs sticker on it, then no-one would want it Smiley

lol at the last line

Do you think that knc will production in time 28 nm chips?

We have no delays as of today and we are not expecting any at all. so yes we will deliever our boxes as promised in September.

Fingers crossed, hopefully they're on schedule enough to deliver later orders in September as well? Cheesy

Assuming that the first month to 6 weeks will return the best results whenever these rigs are delivered, an option might be to bang yours on Ebay after that period with a reasonable reserve and see if you can do better than it would mining? Maybe fund your gen2  machine a little while it's worth something. I've seen people pay stupid money for machines not half as good as these and not even in hand. You never know, and if no-one bites no harm done.

We could all look at it like that versus this right?  (its all still speculation)

USD 15040 total dollars returned from mining in October with Jupiter  = 7200 price and shipping for jupiter + it makes money until July 2014 which is roughly 7840 dollars of profit at that! therefore (http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/b4f90fa51a)

if you buy it for the sake of the argument at 100 dollars an throw in a fee we could say 71.92 BTC for that same $7200.  So 15040 USD/71.92 BTC that could have been held instead of mining..the bitcoin cost per USD only needs to be 209.12.  Lets say that you buy in right now instead around 111 USD each.   You only need the price to hit 231.88 to see the same profit you WOULD HAVE if you bought a KNC Jupiter - clearly if you plan to gamble some money...gambling says to ask if BTC price plans to be around 220 ish dollars between now and July of Next year.  If you think If will not...then you will gain more from buying Miners and mining BTC along with other alts as they have the chance to appreciate later in the future and less people are willing to invest time or fiat into it which would influence the cost.  If you think it could reach this price or higher before July of 2014 then I'd say to Buy the btc and sell it at or near that price after trading fees are calculated (both on the Buy and Sell side).  It would have the potential to either appreciate higher or you could sell it again then rebuy it.  I don't see BTC going into a super high demand over even fiat unless its accepted mainstream a LOT more - like earn btc and pay your cell phone bill, cable bill, car insurance bill DIRECT with btc, no exhange to fiat involved.

I'd feel like the sweetspot to sell should be week 3 in June 2014 if and only if there isnt a flooded 2ndary market already. (ebay amazon craigslist bitmit.net)

To complicate things, around March Gen2 is scheduled. Get the new stuff ASAP and get RID of the older stuff ASAP would likely be the more lucrative plan? Why have dollars tied up making almost nothing when the latest rigs can pump out BTC more economically and make you more?

I wonder if www.bitcoinminerpsychotherapist.com is taken?

If KNC delivery my Mercury on time and it's hashing nicely, I'm planning on purchasing Gen2 as soon as available. Depending on my judgement of the market at that time, and trends of course...

I invested in an ASIC from KNCMiner, shocking investment. We shall see...

Thoughts?

At this point in time, I'll be happy if it simply pays itself off, not expecting too much more due to the difficulty increases etc...

Not so shocking. It's an alternative way of buying BTC, hopefully with FIAT currency, although you do not know in advance how many coins you will receive. Also, it's good for the blockchain. BTC is awkward enough to buy that I am also considering buying a mining contract, for FIAT, of course. (If it were Winter, I might consider a mining device).

We shall see what the next month or two bring Smiley

If you have serious doubts and Questions about KNC, just call Andreas and ask. He's made it clear that he's willing to lay questions to rest with a call.

After The BS of sending coins directly to an exchange, this is even bigger: we only need a bunch of anxious interruptions to Andreas work, asking the same questions from dumb people that can't do some research here.

The right answer is: stop pretending that anyone of us is "the chosen one", the answers are already public (sort of RTFM), if you feel uncomfortable simply buy elsewhere.

If anyone else likes to call himself "Bitcoin investor", please read what is the risk/awards dynamic of doing business, and unfortunately it has nothing to do with pestering people investing way MORE than you (Andreas itself for example).

Armchair entrepreneurs?
Are you on drugs?
What part of sending Bitcoin directly to an exchange is BS again?
And you'd rather take Fud from noobs and trolls in here about your investment, than calling the company yourself? That's really crappy advice, and Andreas has stated he welcomes the calls. Why else would the number for the company be on the site? Its part of his job. Nobody here has ever claimed to be "The Chosen One", but a few of us here are actually sharing knowledge & experience.  On the other hand, I did get a good laugh from your post, thanks.

Sending BTC direct to the exchange makes sense to me, but I don't think I'd trust sending it to 'old' addresses since they change or expire every time you deposit coins.

Will I be right with KNC's $129 shipping to Australia? Do I need to worry about Customs or anything like that? I'll do my own research, but any advice is appreciated if you've shipped before. I haven't shipped anything this large internationally.

Thanks, I'll take a look. I have no idea how the Customs process works.

Just changed one of my units from shipping to hosted.  Estimating that it will take 5 days to ship to the USA, hosting will pay (or almost pay) for itself within that time.  Every minute counts, but in 6 months taking it offline to ship will not be an issue.

It only took about 2 days to ship my Avalon B2 from China. Airplanes can get anything pretty much anywhere in the world in less then 24 hours.

True that too, I'm not too worried about shipping time TBH.

That sounds like a mighty fine smart move, however, I'm eager to feel and see the unit too, so I'm a little lopsided on that one. Maybe I should make it hosted, feck, something else to think about! Cheesy
